  1. As if this moment, the Lowland has no intentions of expanding from 16. We’ll see what happens in future. I’m currently writing a piece on the situation as things stand - will share in here when released on Pure Fitbaw. Got input from the Ants, Kilwinning, Bonnyrigg, Kilbirnie and George Fraser so are least it’ll be better researched than a certain red top!

  2. Surely to f**k the brechin debate just needs some strong management from those at the top, Angus is in the northern half of Scotland. A team from that area relegated from that area should go into the northern section of the pyramid. you can't just turn around and greet... but but but players come from the south. How they recruit players is entirely their business but they are located in the north, if they're relegated then they'll play in the north. And they'll like it

  3. Exactly this. If Forfar, Montrose, Arbroath or Dundee were to complain about this now, when it doesn't affect them directly, and give reasonable arguments you would be more inclined to listen to them. If Brechin had raised these concerns officially at any point in the last five years they would have had the proper time to have them considered with due diligence. A club in League 2 in freefall suddenly demanding the whole structure of Scottish football changes at the last minute is pure jobby

  4. As far as the Brechin question goes, I think it’s a simple answer. They knew the rules at the start of the campaign and kept schtum, don’t complain about them now as we approach the business end of things.

  6. We never beat Aberdeen at home (think that's 16 without a win?) so I thought I was resigned to the defeat but Killie made me hope. b*****ds. Thought Dyer should have put on an extra midfielder with about 20 mins to go as even though Aberdeen weren't getting shots on target it was clear where the pressure was. That said, we probably had the better chances second half even though Aberdeen had all of the play. When they went 2-1 up in extra-time I thought it was over, then Brophy comes up with the free-kick. He hit the post just after that with a shot that I thought was in from the moment it left his boot. Then we go 3-2 up in extra-time with four minutes to go. I was only half-joking when I said to my mate: "too soon". Findlay, who was superb up to that point, gave away an utterly stupid penalty and from then on it was concede again or lose the shoot-out. Can only imagine how glorious it must have been in that away end, so through gritted teeth fair play to the Dons who travelled on a Wednesday night. Must have all been worth it. I've now resigned myself to the fact that we will never beat Aberdeen at Rugby Park ever again, even if the club goes for another 150 years. By that point I'll be long dead, but I can't help but feel I'll be trapped in some sort of purgatory where the only thing I'm aware of is that Killie still can't beat Aberdeen.

  12. One to watch: @Cardinal Richelieu. He's watching the AI bots on the site like a hawk, even goading them into replying to him, which one did last night rather terrifyingly to inform him that the bots are smarter than he thinks. His head will be gone one way or another, either by standard meltdown or by being hunted down and beheaded by a bot.

  15. This one promotion spot per conference argument for next season is very dubious. Being in the top five in each conference will result in playing in one of the two higher divisions the following season, so there will be plenty for most teams to play for most of the way through to the end.

  16. Brechin will need to be training elsewhere (ideally in Brechin/Angus) and they will need an overhaul of their transfer policy, but being the southernmost HL club could give them a decent advantage. They can try to poach better players of the better Tayside juniors, some of these players won't look out of place in the HL at all. They can pick up players from Tayside SPFL clubs who are not good enough for the SFPL but could be good enough for the HL. And as you said, they can try to poach current HL players who live closer to Brechin then to wherever they are currently playing. They need to change their way of thinking, but I think they'd be in a much better place in the HL with not too bad of a chance to eventually challenge to come back up.

  17. So just to be clear, when the Motherland makes a decision that Scotland disagrees with, you will meekly accept it on the basis of a 50:50 chance of it working, and will happily await the destination that a bunch of far-right thugs draped in Union Jacks march us. When the Scottish Government proposes something, you suddenly become demanding of “cast iron guarantees”. It seems you hold the Scottish government to a different standard than you do your glorious masters down south (you hold them, apparently, to nothing - because you know your place is not to question the wisdom of your betters). Thankfully it’s recently become clear that you and your “union at any cost” brethren are in the minority.

  18. In light of being robbed of watching two cup classics over the past 48hrs, is the UEFA blackout really fit for purpose? We regularly have no representatives left in the "Champions" League post-Christmas (and quite often post-August). Sky Sports were able to broadcast Man City v West Ham tonight. Why is it one rule for them and another for us? Even just allowing us to broadcast cup games would be a start. Showing them on TV or streaming services is hardly going to affect the attendance at a midweek fixture where one team has to travel 100+ miles.

  19. Statement just gone on EoS FA facebook.... League structure It's been confirmed, following a membership vote, our league in 2020/21 will again consist of a sixteen team Premier Division with First Division Conferences beneath - clubs will be playing for their places in a fully hierarchical structure from season 2021/22 onwards. The vote only very narrowly favoured this scenario, over the alternative option which would've seen us switch to the hierarchical structure with immediate effect. We recognise that, as in any comparable scenario, there will inevitably be disappointment among those parties in favour of the alternative. It's not unreasonable to state we are all of us contending at present with unprecedented developments in terms of the rational structuring of Scottish football leagues - as such it's inevitable this latest news won't be universally welcomed. Such is the way of things when matters of significance are put to the vote - of course some will argue the whole process ought to have been handled otherwise; we aim to operate on as democratic a basis as possible, and recognise fully the validity of the argument hierarchical structure with immediate effect is desirable - the bottom line however is that a majority of member clubs, however slim, preferred the Conference option. We're of the view that, when all valid points are taken into consideration, the path we're on is the right one. It's understood some might prefer a slightly different route to the ideal we're all seeking, we hope they likewise understand the background to the situation we now have.

  23. We don't need compromise. Compromise has got us exactly nowhere in the last 2 years. A West of Scotland League provides the route to the Pyramid for any club that wants it (Junior or non-Junior) and can be achieved for next season. The WRJFA remains for those clubs who want to remain Junior, as is their right. It really is that simple. The LL (or EoS) are not going to look good if, after the last few weeks, they hit reverse.

  24. Perhaps if Brechin didn’t want relegated into the HL they should have hired a better manager or recruited better players or they could still win the play off. No sympathy for them. For what it’s worth I’ve always though the “Highland” area should include all of Perth and Kinross.

  25. Some magnificently hilarious attempts at defending for those goals. Kilmarnock leaving probably the best header - headerer? - of the ball on the pitch completely unmarked six yards out for the first equaliser. Campbell's tackle, Considine's attempted block and then Devlin's ridiculous attempt at a clearance for Kabamba's goal. Findlay nonsensically wiping out Ferguson for the penalty after Kilmarnock generously allowed him to hit the byline with minimum resistance. The magnificent own goal winner.

  27. As has been said, in the last referendum campaign Better Together promised that a No vote was the only guarantee to stay in the EU. And we ended up being dragged on a monumental and irreversible gamble with the only way out being to jump off the UK bus.

  28. spoke to 4 of my lok mates who go home & away to every game for many a long yr (over 45 ) would be sad to leave the JUNIORS had many a great time watching the GRADE. but we are all in agreement that the JUNIOR grade has been downgraded by the bigger east teams leaving. ie the junior cup is now a glorified west of scotland cup so no romance now compared to previous years + not testing ourselves against another region plus imo the amalgamation of central /ayrshire has not brought any benefits except racking up car miles to sunny ayrshire compared to sunny lanarkshire we move on with the times by the way my parents said i was conceived in elgin so obviously they didnt go to the match on a tues night if they did i might not be here lol
