Could we really do better? Mcglynn has been trying to do that for 26 days in this window so far, and has been knocked back 4 times. The Gullan situation isn't in our hands so don't know what else there is. Chance a loan signing and hope they are decent? We can't just rely on Bowie, Baird and Smith. Smith is untested really and Bowie has fantastic potential, but is still young and raw. Granted we scored a good few goals yesterday, but away to Forfar we were crying out for a centre forward to get on the end of those great cross balls. Miller is not my first choice, I doubt he's anyone's at this stage of his career. But he's a vastly experienced centre forward who scores goals. Granted its a risk given his age, but we have a pressing need to get out this league in the next 4 months. Its worth a gamble, and you can't say he wouldn't buried some of the glaring chances that have cost us points this season. Think the Skacel comparisons are lazy. He was brought in as Lockes mate having not played in a few years. I'd like to think we owe Mcglynn a bit more credit than that. Totally different to the Partick situation in that he's coming into one of, if not the, best sides in the league who are creating and missing multiple chances per game. We are a League 1 club who have lost out on every target so far in this window. I'm not really sure what other credible options are out there.

Last time Morton came to Tannadice they were a shambles and took 6, yesterday they got a point and were a kick in the arse off getting all 3. Aye it's frustrating seeing a keeper start time wasting in the 3rd minute and a team spend most of the game with 11 men within 30 yards of their own goal but for them it's job done and given we've been happy to engage in a bit of time wasting when it's suited us it's a fuckin' brass neck bumping our gums about it now. For Utd, I thought we slowed the game down too often when we looked to have got into decent positions and made an affy lot of wrong decisions in the final third. Might also turn out we were a bit unlucky with the disallowed goal and a couple of the penalty shouts. Still, kept plugging away got the equaliser and extended our lead at the top. Happy to forget that afternoon and move on.

Also, can we have more players like Conor McCarthy please? He's looked superb so far.

No one expects AFC to be above the ugly sisters but given the absolute dearth of quality in this league, dropping 21 points to The Rest this season is dreadful given our budget. If AFC had picked up even half of those we’d be 6 or 7 points clear in 3rd. Sitting 3rd/4th in the league is bang average for Aberdeen given their budget (or 2nd without Rangers, Hearts, Hibs, United). McInnes is not over-achieving by doing so. The problem is that he is achieving break even with a style of football that is fucking horrendous. He has learned absolutely Jack Shit about how to play in Europe over 6 campaigns. His cup record is chequered – capitulations, hammerings, and a couple 1/2-and-outs as well the finals and semis. It may well be better than what went before but that to use that as justification for retaining McInnes ad infinitum is the strawest of straw men.

Yes, I'm something of a voyeur on this thread. It can make for rather an upsetting read at times, but it can also be uplifting in terms of how people treat each other. A welcome antidote to the recent bullying threads on the same forum.

The media perception of it doesn't help either, they consistently only call the SPFL clubs "senior". Just at the start of this season I corrected a journalist on Twitter who said something like Berwick Rangers are out of senior football and Cove were about to make their debut in senior football. When I politely replied saying that the HL & LL are also senior so Cove have been senior from the moment they joined the HL and Berwick are still senior, I got a rude comment back that I was just being pedantic and everyone knew what he meant. If the media don't even use the correct terms, the average football fan won't either...

Quite a weird game actually. Montrose absolutely dominated the ball in the first half, but didn't really create much at all. We were clinical. When it clicked, our play going forward was very good, and whilst there were faults from Montrose, it was 3 very good goals from us. 2nd half was just pretty shit but fair play to Montrose who just went for it. First goal I still feel the keeper has to either get there or trust the defence, he does neither, but it's a good finish. 2nd was awful marking and 3rd was again poor from Munro. That said, at 3-2 we still had over half an hour to go and to be honest, Montrose didn't ever come close to an equaliser. Would have liked us to at least hold the two goal lead, but we weren't under any real danger even at 4-3. If anything we should have had another couple. I still think there's something different about this team compared to last season. We all left a bit dissapointed yesterday, but took 4 goals off one of the form teams in the league and really could have had another couple. It's easy to say that we should be bringing in defenders and not strikers, but Bowie won't give us that every week. He was excellent yesterday (some in the crowd strangely don't like him) but still very young. We are still creating and missing a decent number of chances, and I think I good striker could see us give someone a bit of a doing to be honest. The defence needs to go to the back 3,and that will improve things immensely. Lastly, fair play to Mcglynn for chucking Dylan Tait in the team at East Fife. What a fantastic young talent. For all that McGlynn got stick before for not trusting youth players (madness), we got 3 goals yesterday from teenagers he has taken a gamble on. Great to see. And personally, with Bowie, it's fucking fantastic to see a young Rovers fan from Templehall thriving on that pitch. At 3-2 we were under immense pressure, and we saw it out. That's progress in my opinion.

After all this time getting gubbed by ICT I was waiting for the manager to lose the head after praising our club and support every time we previously lost to them. Never happened. Respect John Robertson!
