  1. I promised myself I wouldn’t get involved when I received a couple screenshots detailing some of the spurious comments on this post but against my better judgement, I felt I had to put out some sort of reply whether it be myself or through someone else. Firstly, I’m not FootballFan whomever although I’d like to thank them for stating facts and providing some sort of defence. I understand the dislike from the Irvine Meadow support for myself, for many months I didn’t hold them in particularly high regard either. Irvine Meadow are a massive club with many fans and a great history, I don’t think many people would have denied themselves the chance to manage there. Before I say anything, Brian McGinty has done a great job at Irvine Meadow and the committee have been justified with the decision to sack me. I still do not believe it was the correct one but I’m smart enough to acknowledge that they are now challenging for honours and he deserves more credit that he gets for that. As a manager I made mistakes and I’m the first to hold my hands up to that. 11 of them to be exact (Leaving a great wee club like Kello on the crest of a wave and in the manner I did is mistake 1 of 11 but hindsight is a wonderful thing) but if a 28 year old manager at that time didn’t make mistakes then I’d be manager of Brazil by now. More importantly, I learned from everyone and became a better person and coach for it. If I’m continually going to be slaughtered because I didn’t have a successful period at one club, then we should just burst the ball and go up the road and forget about football or doing anything at all. If my tenure there, losing 4 and winning 6 in 13 competitive fixtures (Hurlford 0-2, Petershill 0-4, Renfrew 1-2 and Cambuslang 3-4 all three of whom were promoted and the other a premier league side) is deemed a disaster, then fair enough, people pay their money and are entitled to there opinion. If fans deem losing a glorified, gala day game where I treated it for what it is… a friendly, a sackable offence, fair enough but if a great club like Irvine Meadow deem winning that there be all and end all, then that is sad for a club that size. If shouting in the face of a match official in the pavilion and receiving a £50 fine is a sackable offence, again, fair enough, unreasonable but that’s my opinion. By the way, in the league we had played 6, won 2, drew 1 and lost 3, finished 3 points better off in the sectional cup from the previous season and won our Scottish Cup tie, just in case there is any future journalistic license. Just to be clear, I went into the club with 9 players signed, I signed 11 or so. I agree not all of them worked out, but not all signings work out at every club. It doesn’t mean they are a bad player it just means that the shoe didn’t fit, in fact of those 11, Eddie McTernan fired the team to promotion with his goals, Rhys Devlin proved to be a shrewd acquisition, Ryan Carnwath (who was openly called terrible by some) won player of the year and is a main stay in the team, Aaron Connolly suffered in my final match a serious injury (and had been picking up knocks beforehand) went on to score some good goals for the club, Darren Miller has been another mainstay in the team, Con Boyle scored a hattrick against Kilwinning Rangers in a win and Steven McKeown left at the same time I left and was doing well until then. The others I signed again, were not bad football players, they have proved themselves at other clubs and currently continue to do so. If you know anything about football, or claim to know anything, putting a team together when you’ve had to sign 11 to add to the existing 9, and try to get them playing in a different way, believe it or not, is difficult and unachievable by the middle of October. If you’re really unsure about that, go and look at the history books. I’m sure if you check Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola’s file, they didn’t enjoy a successful start. More recently, fans expected Darvel to go on and romp the league. I’m sure my old friend Darvel Legend and Mr Kennedy will have considered that they required time to knit all those excellent players they signed together. Do I think we would’ve won promotion, absolutely? Every player in the squad was good enough and they went on to prove it with the adjustments Brian McGinty made (player and tactical wise). I won’t go into what else was going on, all I will say is, at the time, on the advice of a well-respected man within the game who I also call a friend, tell the truth, and then you don’t need to change your story. In relation to GlasgowTaxi’s claims, he is correct, I did attend an Arthurlie game. I’d like to place on record my apology to himself and the rest of the backroom team at Arthurlie. My partners mum takes our child every Saturday afternoon while I go to football so as you can probably understand we had to arrange alternative childcare with her as a result. She did not return from Silverburn in time for me to collect my son in the afternoon and as I did not have a key for her house, I therefore decided to go down and take in the Arthurlie game (Neilston were away from home for the avoidance of doubt). I know who Arthurlie1981 is, and I’m sure he will confirm that I kept myself to myself. Can you message me exactly who I have spoken to on the committee at Arthurlie? Despite me being a Barrhead native, I no longer live in the area and I cannot remember the last time I had a conversation with anyone on the committee within the last couple of years. That’s assuming I’m the other party you have accused of declaring my interest in the position. By the way, I know the majority of the Arthurlie squad, I assume I can no longer take in any games or watch any team for that matter, who said I wasn’t scouting on behalf of a friend in the SPFL? Point is, you have my username, I will keep it open for a couple of days, if you want to talk about it give me a call, I’m happy to speak to you about what I might or might not have done. Sabri Lamouchi might be on a Nottingham Forest forum calling me out due to my attendance at their games also. I know invariably I will probably be slaughtered more for this post but if I’m honest I couldn’t care less about what people think of me, if they state facts and do not mislead on them. I will not be replying to further conjecture or anything for that matter. What I will say is things like this website are pretty good, there are one or two posters who are level headed. To be totally transparent and clear also, yes, I have been in helping with Saltcoats since the summer. I also coach the SYFA under 17s. Do I want to be a manager? Of course, I do, more importantly to me Iain McMillan and Brian Sproule know that. Both are aware of previous interviews and will be notified of any interviews I’m invited to attend, if I’m lucky enough to get one that is. Regards, Ross Wilson

  2. I don't believe it's purely because Corbyn wants it, I think this is the situation we find ourselves in after decades of media driven right-wing indoctrination, where people have been convinced to believe that the population at large don't deserve a living wage, and that if one sector of workers are given reasonable terms, it should automatically be at the disadvantage of others. It's no wonder the Tories govern the vast majority of the time when regular people are making their arguments for them. The example I keep seeing on twitter is nurses, "nurses deserve it far more than burger flippers", which I agree with, but it shouldn't be an either / or, it should be both. Of course the same morons that are arguing that McDonald's workers shouldn't get a pay rise because nurses should earn more will still vote Tory "because they're the party that can grow the economy", even though it's under their economic principles that public sector workers wages have stagnated and - with inflation - regressed so much. Also, if the Tories legislated for fair working conditions in both the public and private sector, and raised corporation tax levels (one of the lowest in either the EU or G20) and actually enforced it, they'd be more than able to pay public sector workers a fair wage whilst these monolithic companies were legally bound to pay their employees. However, they won't, as we know, because the Tories are complete and utter vermin. I don't mind the ordering screens.

  3. I worked in a McDonalds for three years. During that time I worked with people who became teachers, doctors, dentists, astophysicists, accountants, and top businessmen. That being said, I also worked with people who had to wear shoes with velco fastenings as they didn't know how to tie their own shoelaces.

  11. I don't hate anyone other than Jackie McNamara and Donald Trump. Certain posters seem to get overly upset at someone on the internet clicking a red arrow, causing them to send angry and abusive PMs to multiple members and resign from the forum before slithering back however. But that's none of my business.

  12. All subjective and irrelevant. It's located on an estuary, which is coastal, on the west side of Scotland. Eta: Have to say that this new 'can't see the Hebrides' line is the most straw-clutchingly desperate one to date.

  16. I was really critical of how the Club handled the Hampden negotiations but I think the level of engagement throughout his process has been excellent. I went to the first sessions deeply opposed to changing status but have been convinced because of the clarity of the argument put forward. I trusted the Club could balance the books so never shared the reservations about funding that some seemed to have. I take it that the recent correspondence has satisfied anyone who was concerned on that score? If any Members have engaged with the full process and still want to remain amateur out of principle, I can genuinely respected that, but they need to fully accept the consequences of that decision: unsustainable youth set up, smaller scale Lesser Hampden development, managed decline and an altogether uncertain and diminished future. I’m not on here all that much and I don’t know if anyone’s still on the fence. It’s obvious that tensions are running high, though, and I wonder if any folks still have questions they don’t want to ask in a public forum. I think/hope the Club would be open to discussions but I’d also say please feel free to reach out to me or anyone else on here for a private chat / coffee / pint / whatever, if anyone wants more info.

  17. I used to use the word hahahahahahahaha a lot, since the more characters a password has, the more secure it is. However, to make it even more uncrackable, I'd sometimes slip a banana in there, e.g. hahahabananahaha. Banks, the killjoys that they are, make you use letters AND numbers, as if I've not got enough else on my plate already. So for my bank (04-11-70 00906628), I tend to use my favourite football team and the year they were founded. And I'd wager not many hackers would know my favourite team is Stranraer or that they were formed in 1870. To date, I've never had any bank accounts hacked. I did have my bank card cloned and my account emptied, but that's only cos 4 digit PINs are anything but secure. Anyway, over to you.

  19. To entertain the subjective side though, I'll just leave this here: Name That Toon, anybody? There's also West Coast Cinemas that runs only two properties; Greenock Waterfront & Dunoon. I believe that the latter is adjacent to Greenock on the same line of latitude, is many a mile east of the delightful village of Otter Ferry on Loch Fyne and has no view of the southern Hebrides because they are "about 100 fucking miles away". I suppose there's also the Greenock-based Clyde Coast Tourism website: Considering that these are all resident Greenockian business owners, this is beginning to get embarrassing for VT.

  20. The idea that folk have the right to tell others what wage they should be willing to fight for and when they should shut up and eat their cereal My fucking god! If the McDonalds workers are being made aware of the inherent risks involved with industrial action, and their trade unions members are guiding thìs, then who the f**k is anyone else to tell them what they are and aren't entitled to? Imagine thinking you have more right to an opinion on the skillset and subsequent pay rate of a worker than they have to try and better it. I utterly despair of folk in this country sometimes.

  24. I get that people would be wary of breaking with tradition and what that means to them and the club, however wouldn’t the move away from Hampden be exactly the time to do this? To modernise the club, move to a more appropriately sized stadium and build towards a new more prosperous future? Engage with the local community and try and build upon the existing fan base, market themselves as a club for the south side of Glasgow, a real alternative to Celtic and Rangers and all the crap that comes with them. Rather than a club who from my perspective as a local who goes along occasionally, hides away in Hampden and people mere streets away aren’t even aware they’re playing.

These corporations earns millions of pounds a day on the back of their workers, who’ve every right to demand better working conditions. 41. Your second paragraph is one of the biggest reasons why I can't stand them or their club and why they're really not 'spot on' about any of the so called causes they claim to support...because in reality they are nothing but a bunch of hypocritical, sanctimonious, psuedo pious blowhards who are only capable of seeing things from their own warped perspective. This is a group who would have you believe that they are 'all inclusive' and 'welcoming to all' but neglect to mention that that's only as long as you share their viewpoint and 'political' standing on most matters and if you don't then you aren't actually welcome at all. "No bloostained poppies on our hoops, but Celtic Football Club are open to all"...."Celtic football club destests racism....but that Shay Logan is a liar and an arsehole for accusing one of our players of racially abusing him, fucking booooooooooo that c**t"..."Leigh Griffiths was caught on video in an Edinburgh pub singing wha...? Nah f**k up, brave, brave man is our Leigh". The 'stands' they take are nothing more than what they perceive to support the Celtic FC position of "we are holier than thou, but just don't ask too many questions" and I for one am more than happy that our support don't bother with that nonsense, because it really, REALLY isn't worth its weight in shite.
