  7. A horse walks into a bar and orders a drink. The bartender says "Hey you're in here a lot. Do you think you might be an alcoholic?" The horse replies "I don't think I am." And poof. Disappears from existence. Now that joke is a reference to the philosopher Descartes and his famous line "I think, therefore I am." I could have explained that first, but that would have been putting Descartes before the horse.

  12. I don't understand why people think this argument isn't mental. Did Ireland "wet the bed" against Japan and now deserve to go out? At the last world cup, in our group, we lost to the top seed, Japan beat the top seed, then we beat Japan and went through. Did we somehow not really deserve it so much because we got the points in the wrong order? What's different this time? People seem to feel the need to make up weird arguments to support a line they've chosen to take. I don't understand it.

  13. The folk organising this tournament should be utterly embarrassed. It's going to go down as one of the most tinpot tournaments in recent sporting history. If teams are going to be advantaged/disadvantaged by a postponement or cancellation, there absolutely has to be a reschedule. Otherwise, "sporting integrity" goes clean out the window. Also, Eddie Jones can go f**k himself.

  17. Let's examine those two paragraphs. The first says "I definitely know more about this!" the second says "Sports Direct problems are coming from the previous board!" So if the second is nonsense, so is the first. (Can you see where this is going yet? Probably not...) Taking the second paragraph first, it is a matter of record that King was absolutely hammered in a pre-trial judgement in late spring/early summer of 2017, leaving him wide open to personal penalties when the trial proper started. Essentially, the acting judge politely said that a number of claims by King were clearly not true, and that he had not acted as required in his role of director of RRL, and applied any number of euphemisms for "liar" to him. King was heading for a big fall in court. Then a couple of months later, SDI dropped their shoo-in action against King (and Murray, and Rangers). The SMSM trumpeted King's "win" over Ashley, and King himself stated that the board could endorse the new deal, and encourage fans to buy the gear. That's what he said to the support, very clearly: the summer 2017 deal is a good deal, the board endorses it, and the fans should get buying! (It should be noted that the details he actually stated appeared to be the same as the RRL agreement, but that didn't seem to be reported.) Anyone reading the judgement and the subsequent statement with any level of objectivity knew that Ashley had bent King over, to get him to bring the paying customers onside; and King had no choice, with the prospect of a hammering in court as his alternative. What no one expected was that Ashley had also charged King a cool £3m for the privilege of being reamed on essentially the same commercial terms. One year later, the deal that King said was so very good was up for renewal. For the last 15 months, he has fought tooth and nail to prevent Ashley matching a deal that has to be better than the "great" deal - because the contractual default was continuation of that great deal. Why would he do that? Because he lied to the support to manipulate them for his personal benefit in the summer of 2017. This is all a matter of record, and falsifies your second paragraph's claims; and so your claim in the first paragraph is also shown to be false. You've been played, along with most of the rest of the support. The sad thing is that all of the evidence is available in court transcripts and audited accounts; but people prefer soothing sound bites from the guy who's duping them.

  22. If we'd managed to beat St Mirren reserves we could have been gearing up for a jolly to Wrexham tomorrow, but as we shat the bed we have f**k all to look forward to tomorrow. I see posts of U19 Scotland games, shouts to visit Millburn, calls from the Mrs to spend a day together since we don't have a game, yet none of that appeals to me. We should play football all year round, every weekend without fail. f**k the players and their holidays, my life is too empty to have free weekends.

  24. I taught in Barking in East London for 4 years, and these are all things that happened within 100 yards of my classroom in that time: People shagging in broad daylight within view of the class. People sh*tting in broad daylight within view of the class. People shooting up within view of the class. All the cars in the staff car park being broken into. Several mass brawls with weapons. A rape A murder A serial killer dumping his victims' bodies. It still wasn't as grim as Blackpool though.

  29. The players you have can change the way you play so not getting your point? The only player we have with pace who can break up the park and make something happen is Bobby Linn. He's the only guy who can get us up the park which is pretty important when you're under pressure a lot of the time. Upfront the guys we have upfront don't even have a good scoring record at a level below the past few years. If anything their scoring records are incredibly poor for strikers. So even if we get a chance you don't fancy us to take it. They're all decent but none of them have any real pace or any real creativity at all. Wallace in comparison..... it's annoying and it's disappointing he left, I can't believe he got so much stick If you take Bobby out and look at the rest of the team, who scores? Who has a record of scoring (baring in mind we've been a team that's been winning leagues)? Who would you fancy to pull a moment of magic out the bag every now and then? I think our squad of players is really good but we lack so badly in guys that can do any of the above, even anything similar to Bobby. Would've rather taken a punt on loans out wide and upfront instead of overloading in a position we were already very strong in We are relying on being hard to beat and sneaking goals which is fine, but we could've done that without the loans we got in!! So no plan B or anything to change it at all On the other hand we got off to a good start and have played 3 of the best teams in recent weeks so hope we can get back to getting results soon Morton at home a great chance

  31. Might be an unpopular opinion but if the podcast has to suffer to allow the growth of the TV show id be all for that. Much more chance of pushing the agenda (covering more of Scottish football than a select few clubs) of the Terrace lads into the mainstream and ending up with a more engaged and knowledgeable fanbase in Scottish Football that way. Its a shame of course but these lads were spinning plates already and making an original and enjoyable TV show, and keeping it that way must be hugely laborious. The TV show is the podcast brought to life IMO so certainly wont catch me moaing about decline in the podcast while the TV show is on the go. Telfer doesnt even have time to go clothes shopping ffs.

  34. Eddie Jones is an arsehole, he's always been an arsehole, and he gets a free pass from the English media because he always gives good copy. They don't care about a manager who insults every other country, it's pretty much how they do things. The idea that, with 4 days notice, they couldn't have arranged some accommodation and got a plane with the two squads and staffs down to Kyushu and played the game there is laughable. It's far from ideal, but it's much worse to risk putting Japan through and not playing the match at all.

  35. Not exactly the same schedule - what if Ireland played Japan first and Scotland had the chance to thump Russia first? it all could have been completely different. Also if people are going to cite the Ireland game as the ‘real reason’ for failure to qualify they should just change the format of the tournament to a straight knockout...

  37. Very sporting of the England and New Zealand coaches coming out and saying that if Scotland are eliminated through the weather then they only have themselves to blame. According to them you shouldn’t solely rely on planning to win enough points over the four matches to qualify. No, you have to also think what will happen if there is a major weather problem during the tournament. What utter crap from two coaches that are probably going to benefit from their final group matches being called off.

  38. Regardless of what happens to Japan v Scotland the outright voiding of England v France (which affects 1st/2nd) and NZ v Italy (not officially eliminated) are extraordinary and infamous. There's been coverage dotted around in recent weeks referencing 25yrs since IRB sanctioned professionalism. It would seem their administration of the game remains firmly amateurish. Rule is different in knockouts (bizarrely): you can try again 24hrs later. After that it presumably goes to try and discipline countback. Typhoon of Sat-Sun 2nd-3rd Nov = "no Final"?

  41. This is all leading to something. The politicians saw how this bullshit was developing years ago, especially in America, and jumped right on it, using their compliant media to stir it up. The poppy day garbage (sidebar; get it all so far to f**k) is just part of the ongoing deification of the armed forces. It’s taken hold probably better than they could have hoped, and so many morons buy in to it all. Where it’s leading is to the armed forces being able to do anything and get away with it. You just have to look at the nonsense surrounding ‘Marine A’ and that other recent case. The politicians want to create a world where their army can do anything and not only not be questioned, but praised. Quite how far they’ll take it is a scary prospect.
