  8. https://www.falkirkherald.co.uk/sport/football/falkirk-fc/happy-memories-but-a-noisy-reception-at-raith-rovers-for-falkirk-boss-ray-mckinnon-1-5016923 I see the Great Raymondo claiming most our squad has been together for over a year. Benedictus, Davidson and Gullan (who is a loanee) the only players who finished last season with us likely to play on Saturday. He also says we’d built a good team that could’ve gone up in his season here, which is entirely true. If you join the dots Ray, you’ll see that you hooring yourself out to Dundee United might’ve helped put a bit of a dampener on that...

  10. Not something that bothers me particularly, but there is also an element of hypocrisy in that people seem to often get worked up when OF flags with their town's name on them turn up at games. Dundee Loyal etc. Hard to see much of a difference between that and the Alloa Arabs. Anyway, glad you had a good view of the action.

  12. There’s a funny video on Efukt where the guy enjoys just that, so he sits and watches as a big black man absolutely destroys his wife and then realises halfway through that he’s made a terrible mistake, pretty sure he’s saying stuff like “oh no, I’m not sure if this is right.” His wife is clearly loving it and turns round to say “no honey, it’s fine” [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

  14. I really like Scott out wide. I think given that full-backs are generally a bit on the smaller side and he's a 6ft 3 shithouse of a boy who can also play, then straight away he's up against a direct opponent who can't ignore him for a second. The fact that he'd generally have such a physical advantage over a full-back will do wonders for his confidence and willingness to have a go....whereas if he was playing the 9 he's suddenly up against guys who are physically equal at least, and that confidence that he's going to get any joy will drop. Clearly we have to accept that his age and inexperience comes with periods or even full games where it's just not working for him, but out wide his attributes are enough to keep his morale high. As a 9 I just think those phases will drain the confidence right out of him. To use our own players as an example, you can imagine James Scott absolutely roasting Richard Tait in training, he's bigger...stonger...faster...has good footwork. Put him up against big Declan though and start knocking balls into him...there's only going to be one winner there.

  19. CUP RESULTS TIME There were some meaty ties in the Last 16. Salvo Montalbano struggled to a 4 but that was enough to see off Blootoon87, who only managed 2 Adam101 and German Jag contrived to draw 6-6, so will need to face the penalty shootout question. pleslie99 v Eednud was a battle of two league heavyweights, with the Aussie Dee sneaking through 9-8 in a tie worthy of it's billing. Arch Stanton fired in an 8 early doors, which meant NJ2 didn't bother showing up. (He may have played under an alias, but none of those scores were high enough anyway) In the battle of the mods, Cardinal Richelieu has been telling us that the leage tables now contain 35% fewer mistakes. Sadly his cup score contained 50% more mistakes than Tynierose, who won 6-4. The_Kincardine hammered Snobot 8-3. It's as simple as that. The DA, like a good Arab, went for the recent United approach to cups, and was shite. Leeds Saint put in an average performance and won 5-2. In the final tie of the round, Moomintroll threatened to give up quizzing if he lost to 8MileBU, who beat him 7-6. We await Moomintroll's next move with interest. Penalty shootout question The first ever rugby penalty shootout occurred between Leicester Tigers and Cardiff Blues in the Heineken Cup semifinal in 2009. @Adam101 and @German Jag - who won and what was the score in the shootout? Answers PMed by midnight tonight, por favor. The next round will be posted once this is sorted out.

  21. You can't really pay pro players in SPFL £30 or £40 a week now - those days are gone. Minimum wage has seen to that. You might get £50/£60 for pretty young players. But your older players will be more. Bonuses, signing on fees, etc aren't regarded by players as substitutes for wages - they are extras. How much a week is the basic question when looking to sign a player. Bear in mind that if you had a week where you say had 3 hours training and a long away trip say leaving at 8am and home at 8pm (including time for pre-match meal) then that is another 12 hours = 15 hour week = pay of at least £120 a week (at £8 per hour approx. minimum wage). Danny Denholm in Nutmeg magazine gave a reasonably accurate general overview recently for L2 - two figures are shown the first for a title contender and the second for a bottom of the table side. U20 low earner £75/£50, U20 'star' player £120/£100, 1st team regular defender £250/£200, star midfielder/striker £350/£200, high earner 1st team £250/£150, low earner 1st team squad £150/£100, average 1st team wage £175 to £200/£150. You also will have richer clubs paying even bigger money for some star players who could be playing at a higher level. Wages in L2 have been pushed up by minimum wage, the Rangers year and the trapdoor/pyramid.

  28. I feel a bit sorry for Pennies to be honest. I think a lot of clubs are envy of them wether that be due to their success or any other reason I don’t know but as I’ve said before I see a similarity between them and Sandys as a lot of clubs envy Sandys too. The difference is Sandys have had troubled times but always respond stronger and stronger and that is a quality that should never be taken for granted. It’s sad to see pennies leave the league as they would have made the league stronger but obviously it proved very difficult to continue under the circumstances. All the best to the ammie guys that go juniors Oh and by the way just to let the other sides in the league know in case they don’t already know this. Sandys don’t give 5 point leads away easily. History shows that

  35. And surely that's the whole point? Arbroath's directors look at the potential costs and decide to run the club on a sustainable basis which means staying part time. To do anything else would be reckless. That's just good financial governance which the Dundees, Livis, etc. all failed at.

  37. I don't know if MC is good or bad and let's face it. A lot of very successful businessmen have the odd company bankruptcy to their names and failed businesses. Would he be good for Falkirk? Question must be why? If you were a businessman from Falkirk and decided to buy Torquay would you really be that concerned if your gamble failed and the club folded? Why would MC? OF course he will want it to work as their is prime land and possible transfer money at stake but if he failed and sunk the club he would wash his hands and move on. We on the other hand would potentially lose a large part of our identities( well as a fan for 56 years it would certainly floor me)

  39. Mckinnon did a brilliant job with us. Even when he was struggling, I'm pretty sure we never left the top 4 or we were at least always not far away. Can't blame him for taking the Utd job, it's a bigger job. The way he did it was pretty shite though, and it clouded what was the biggest game our club had in years.

  42. Not sure what your point is caller. ICT are literally only in the second tier (granted having had spells in the premiership) due to having some reasonably wealthy benefactors over the course of the last 20 odd years. Without them you would probably be part-time and in the 3rd tier at best. Queens like ICT and every other team below the premiership just need some more investment. ICT are hardly a sleeping giant.
