  1. I personally don't think Rovers fans were that wrong at all. We deserve to be here as do Falkirk, but that doesent mean fans should be happy at being in this league and staying in it. This league was won by full time teams every single season from 12-13 to 17-18, being the only full time side last season and not even mounting a challenge was an absolute disgrace then and is now. This league has some good players, even some excellent ones. However, the standard is nowhere near the championship. Queens were better than anyone we played in this league last season by miles. We deserve to be here, and this may be our natural level soon enough. However its natural that having spent 8 or 9 seasons at Championship level, most of them quite comfortably, to be frustrated at making such a weak attempt at getting out this league Falkirk will have far more money than anyone else, a far bigger fan base and a bigger budget. Not to mention the only totally full time side, and probably have the best squad of players man for man in the league. Their fans are entitled to feel pissed off if expectations aren't met. That isn't disrespectful to the other teams in this league at all. The difference in resource/size of club Falkirk face here is the equivalent of East Fife dropping to the Lowland League. Of course that would be met with nothing but respect and admiration for the other clubs....

  2. Arboarth actively targeted Vaughan in our first encounter at Stark’s last season. Classless clubs with a classless manager and classless fans.

  3. Credit to the East Fife fans for the comments regarding Vaughan, they have gone way up in my estimations. It would be easy for a local rival and close competitor in the league to take some enjoyment in us potentially losing our best player for the season. However, to a man, their comments have been very classy. Fair play.

  6. When I first moved South, I stayed with my Aunty & Uncle for a few months, just to get settled. Anyway, one day I came back from work and my Uncle was on the PC in their office. He obviously didn't hear me, and as I walked into the room, he quickly turned round, saw me and switched the monitor off. I didn't say anything, just said I was going to go out with the Mrs for a few drinks. As I'm about to leave, the phone goes and I go to answer it, he basically wrestled it out my hand and went upstairs with it. I went through to the office, and rattled a few letters on the keyboard so it didn't go to sleep and lock out. He came downstairs and was reasonably well dressed (which was odd as he was usually bit of a scruff round the house) and said he was going out to see a friend. At this point my Mrs arrived and needed the loo, so as he left, I ran into the office and luckily the machine hadn't locked out. I just went onto Chrome, into the history and it was just filled of local escorts (not the Ford kind). The Mrs says she always remembers walking in, and finding me just shell shocked. I explained what happened, and then we just went through all the pages, there was fucking loads. She suggested doing 1471 and seeing if there is a number, and there was. We Googled it and it came up as belonging to a young Asian girl who listed all of her "services". I had no idea what to do, I was still relatively young, and the thought of dropping a bomb shell onto a family members relationship didn't seem too appealing. We went out, not before ringing the house phone to change the last number (still not sure why I did this), and stayed out for a few hours, just having a booze to numb the shock. Eventually it was time to go back, as the house came into sight, I could see that my Aunty was home. I said that I couldn't say anything there and then. Once we got in, my Uncle called us through to the kitchen where they were eating. As we walked through, there was an air of nervousness, but that was short lived as my Uncle then came out with the immortal line "have you two eaten? I was meant to be cooking, but fancied a Chinese". As soon as those words left his mouth, my Mrs turned around, and I could just hear her stifling laughter, my Aunt & Uncle looked a tad confused. I made excuses and just went to my room, where my girlfriend was crying with laughter into the pillow. I rung my Mum (Sister of my Aunt) and told her everything, she said due to the delicate situation, just to keep quiet, but if I was ever asked then to tell the truth. That was a good few years back now, and it's never been brought up. I think I made the correct decision, on the surface they appear very content and have moved into a new house recently, but part of me does wonder if it was a one off, or a regular thing.

  7. Probably because 'rubbish' is relative. Compared to the premier league / champions league / world cup then every level in Scottish football is rubbish, all the crowds are rubbish, all the grounds are rubbish, and all the clubs are rubbish, everything is fucking shite. A surprising number of football fans seem to put the bar for rubbish, just below the level they're used to playing at. I'm sure Dundee Utd fans made a big show of saying how rubbish the championship was and I'm sure that was equally as boring as Falkirk fans are being now. When this wee group of Falkirk fans incessantly talk about L1 being "rubbish", "turgid", what they're really trying to do constantly sound the klaxon showing that they're used to watching a higher level. We all get it pals. We get there's a gap between L1 and the Championship, we get that Falkirk are the biggest club in L1 and that they've been in the Championship or higher for a long time and 99% of folk couldn't give a shit about it.

  8. The Empire was built on murder, theft, slavery, rape and genocide. A horrendous chapter in the history of the world. It should be looked back on with the utmost shame and anyone talking of it as they were some sort of glory days that should be aspired to needs an absolute hiding.

  9. 20/20 hindsight is a wonderful thing but... How has the decision to torpedo the proposed change to the voting rights in Scottish football gone? I think it was 2013 when, without SEVCO being able to vote with their mutant cousins from across the city, there was some impetus to change the voting structure to stop the Glasgow clubs veto. Milne voted with Celtic against the change and scuppered the opportunity, presumably as he envisaged Aberdeen replacing what was Rangers in a new duopoly. Just wondering how that's working out for you now...? Yours sincerely Dr Sanchez.

  14. Well, no he wasn't. For all the eulogising of Highlanders in Red Coats that Kinkcardine does, it's worth mentioning that something like a third of the Napoleanic British Army and a quarter of the Navy were Irish Catholic, at a time when they'd just had a rebellion put down in that nation. Ireland I don't think was particularly invested in the British Empire, given the oppressive laws against their religion, the garrisoning of their country, the fact that they got the hell out of dodge as soon as they could, etc. Yet, turn out they did - which is what you do when your poor, starving and have no where else to go - same as a number of Scots. Even in the Shires of England it was not love of Empire that drove men to enlistment - I saw an old document once where out of 100 men asked, in the non conscript, volunteer British Army of 1811 they found three men who signed up for 'patriotic reasons'. The vast majority were trying to escape poverty or in the army as an alternative to being hanged. Even amongst the gentry who formed the officer corps, it was typically the younger sons, the ones who would not inherit money who signed on for that and for the dangerous Clerk jobs in the EIC. Context here is key when discussing a pre-mass democratic, limited franchise society and the choices that many people within that society lacked. As for the utility of Empire to the building of Scottish cities, well certainly Glasgow was built on it's trade with the Americas. Indeed, it was the threat of isolation from those markets in 1707 that probably forced the hand of many Scottish noblemen. The irony in that of course being that 70 years later, the British would lose their trade monopoly with America anyway thanks to the War of Independence. Had Scotland held on, it would've had that trade regardless, Glasgow would've grown anyway. For cities like Dundee? Imperial traffic largely replaced what had gone before, yet previous trade with Scandinavia, the Baltics and the Dutch (you can still see the odd influences here and there, where I grew up the old houses down near the harbour all have distinctive Dutch gables) would've persisted and grown through the industrial era. It would've been different, certainly, maybe not as big or as fast in terms of growth - but it's a fallacy to divine that without the Empire we'd have been fucked. That's not to say that many Scots did not make it rich out of the Empire, but those same people would've been making it rich somehow, somewhere. The argument is not about individuals but about the nation. Some Scots may have made it big out of Empire, but Scotland itself did not.

  15. Yeah, for Christ sake let's not support a plan to provide fan ownership of the club similar to Hearts, St. Mirren, Motherwell, Dunfermline, all the top German clubs, the Argentinian leagues and loads of other clubs around the world. How stupid would that be? Let's support selling the club to a group of venture capitalists who's track record of piling debt onto the club's they've previously owned while investing next to nothing in them is a matter of public record. It's only 'tinpot' if there's a complete lack of imagination and common sense on the part of Thistle fans.

Going back in time there was a fud on my course at Uni whose first name was Colin and middle name started with a J , who always called himself CJ. He probably never got where he is today by telling folk his name is actually Colin.

  34. Having Dislocated my left knee 3 times, and my right knee once, I know its a hell of a sore thing. He'll rightly have a scan and if there's any damage to the meniscus ligament he'll require surgery, best case scenario if there's no tears or surrounding ligament damage, IMO it might be 12+ weeks. Its a horrible, horrible feeling and I'd never wish it on anyone, seeing your OWN knee 90 degrees away from where it should be churns your own stomach never mind anyone else seeing it and I wish the boy nothing but luck and a speedy recovery.

  35. Times more or less up, whats 30 minutes when you have all weekend! Cracking bunch this weekend we had trying their best as always; Second is for Losers Playoff @Rugster NO SCORE v @Helpma Translating the 4 Gospels? Hmm, that didnt happen in my last run-through of Europa Universalis, does that mean it was before 1440? Hardly seems likely, does it? Then again, its only the Gospels, not the whole bible. Oh, go for it. 1392. Party People Playoff @Eednud It’s something to do with the Venerable Bede or the Clear White Light of Lindisfarne. I’ll go with Lindisfarne with monks translating them in the 9th or 10th century so guess 945 AD. I could be wrong though. v @German Jag No idea, will say 1300 Quiet Night in Again Playoff @MixuFixit 1540 v @NJ2 I’d like it on record that participating in this playoff is no way a showing of agreement as to how this club ended up in it. Also, I’ve no idea. 1470 - the scientific of formula of picking 1 (seems obvious) then missing 2 and repeating the pattern. Question - In what year was the first full translating into English, of the four gospels. 990 Congratulations to @Helpma coming second, he's not heard that for a long time, if ever. Again @Rugster is too busy with the green dot League. We also have @Eednud, who was very close, however I was looking for the full translation, his version still had some Latin text, I'm maybe wrong, but I'm right. @German Jag should have just got drunk over the weekend. We come to the controversial playoff, in-out who knows what was happening. Well I do. Not a dry eye in the @NJ2 household,( no disrespect if you are a travelling person), with the emotional trauma he has went through this weekend . HE'S UP. Sorry @MixuFixit, you had about 3 teams to play in 2 days, it showed. Once again, we have to take that road again. Good Luck everyone! PS., There has been a few posts that really are red top paper talking stuff. I'm very happy where I am in life leading the @SlipperyP young team (on the up the last 2 seasons). I won't speak about this anymore, It's just not right for everyone to speculate. I have a job to do, I'm just preparing for next weekend.

  36. Our club is in the most dangerous situation with this guy IMO. None of us know what he’s up to and our MSG are not to be trusted with doing the right thing. More questions than answers and as someone previously said it’s been nine weeks. Realistically why would anyone apart from a fan want to buy our club? Sorry but I’m not jumping on the MC fan club. I’ve yet to see one positive thing written about this guy anywhere. Not one thing have I seen saying he’s a good guy or he’s loaded etc. Everything written is negative from people that previously got into business with him or his staff taking him to court for sexual harassment. Fcuking hell, does that not scare the life out of you? It does me.
