  2. You can't say Thistle aren't good to their ex-players now. A testimonial for Dools last week and managed to get Clyde to give Danny a pay rise this week.

  3. The outpouring of grief at the death of Fernando Ricksen by Rangers and Celtic on social media, which has , in many instances ,become a point scoring exercise. Comments like “ putting our religious differences aside on this sad day” are totally pathetic, You should be putting your religious differences aside everyday you bigoted c***s .

  7. I'm not a Pollok supporter and the video footage, of the 3.2 defeat, was online the next evening,or the Monday evening so what are you talking about. Do you honestly think any guy who does the video footage of their team as a volunteer is going to have footage up straight away. They all have life's and if some games are mental with incidents, goals galore and having to cut them out to put onto a highlights section some will take longer, time consuming. I aint a Pollok supporter, infact during my junior days I took great pleasure playing against Pollok and never been beaten. Some people just talk utter shite on here, seriously, coming away with daffty comments even escalating going on about toilets' so that in their mind they feel they have got one over some imaginary supporter of another team. grow up ffs, if you have a point, make it simple, and see the replies if any come in. Obviously with your latest one above you now know that you are so so wrong. Any guy who spends time out taking video footage of a game deserves a medal, whether a Kilbirnie, Pollok, Glenafton, Auchinleck, Clydebank video guy. We go to a game, while they are there before us and watch the game while they video it, then we leave and go home etc.., that's when their work start as they have to go home, prepare it all and then edit it for highlight and then sort it for the full game while going about their normal every day tasks on that day. if I was making the videos and I shot the game, the last thing I would ever wanna do was go and edit it on a Saturday evening while all my pals are out on a night out. feck that, id rather be with them and do the footage on the first few days of the start of the week

  8. Sums up what's wrong with many Saints fans. Completely detached from reality. Are people just playing to many computer games or something? Just cause they had Saints in the top 4 on football manager after a takeover doesn't mean that can happen in reality. While we get shite crowds etc no one will invest money in the club. There's no return for investment. What would benefit the club more is it the armchair fan that says they don't go cause "were shite" actually supported the club instead of lining the pockets of these Premier League clubs in England with their sky sports subscription. Were achieving nothing? Staying regularly in the division and often finishing top 6 despite again pittiful gate money. Wright punted? Aw just f**k off. Rant over.

  14. I think that without doubt there is a decline in the number of participants in amateur football. The majority of reasons cited in this thread has varying impacts on the above. Player commitment is absolutely a huge part of it - there has been a seismic shift in player habits and attitudes. There's less football on the streets and alot more people spend time indoors or up to other activities. The financial effect is clear for all to see, with lessening player commitment, and rising costs for parks etc - there's a chasm growing and it's hard to fix. I also think the way that some teams are ran is an absolute joke, and this doesn't help. There's a ton of great guys out there who are managers and chairmans of clubs, but there are also alot of charlatans involved in the game, people who walk away or fold clubs at the drop off the hat after a few hard weeks. On that basis, I could have folded my club 6, 7, 8 or 9 times throughout the last 7 years when things got hard. the same can be said by many on here i'm sure. But here's where I may have an unpopular opinion: We are so focused on the numbers that it *used* to be, so fixated on getting it back to the numbers that once where. But why? It may sound like a daft question. But really, why don't we just deal with how we know things are and try and fix those? Forget the numbers, forget that it's in a phase of decline just now and just worry about the quality of what we have. Let's make sure that clubs are run correctly, let's make sure that the players we do have are committed and care. Let's keep looking at ways to lower the cost of playing football. Let's look at ways we as member clubs can help other member clubs by utlising old strips, shared contacts or shared knowledge etc. Let's stop being fixated on the actual numbers and put our focus into the actual product and what we are trying to achieve, which ever aspect of the game you're involved in.

  16. If I ever happen upon McCall in a boozer on Byres Road, I’ll gladly buy him a pint and thank him for his efforts at our club. I’ve been a McCall sycophant since the day he joined the club, with one wobble. I lost the faith a wee bit, ironically against Thistle at home at the tail end of last season when I really couldn’t fathom how shit we’d become since November and he seemed unable to arrest the slide. He’s an old school manager who brought our club on leaps and bounds, off and on the field. Of course he made mistakes but he should be remembered for the progress he made. To paraphrase his stock opener, which I enjoy mentioning as it pisses off several on here, “Look where we were 5 years ago” and why fucking not? We were a fucking shambles heading for League Two. Take a bow son. Praise also to LC for taking a chance when no one else would. As much as we’re hurting, LC will probably be having a wee quiet moment to himself tonight. That said, I can’t fucking wait to get up to Arbroath next Fri night, get shit faced and get right behind the best footballing side in the Championship on Sat. Business as usual, the organ grinder needs a new monkey.

  17. That Greta Thunberg girl seems like a stuck up wee cow who think she's better than you and me. I do actually feel a little bit bad writing that as she has achieved more in her life than I have and is doing it for a good cause but I just think shes creepy as f**k, like she's escaped from the set of a Stephen King film!!

  30. Ive seen this mentioned a few times elsewhere, why would he recommend any replacements and why should we even consider taking his advice? You've moved on Ian, thanks for the memories but you should no longer have an input into the running or future direction of "Plucky Wee Ayr". I'd ideally be looking at someone who's currently in a job and is hungry to progress, would have loved to seen us move for Jim Goodwin had he still been at Alloa, is proven to work on a smaller budget or is willing to move to us with a CV of managing in higher profile leagues, in England or Scotland. Any appointment's a gamble, who truly was overly excited when McCall got the job in the first place? Every manager will have an element of failure on their CV, its the nature of the game. For sure, the pressure must be on the club to get it right first time, or risk undoing years of progression and good work we've built up, that's the bit that worries me if Im being honest. Get a well worded advert out in the public arena and see who applies for it, we might be pleasantly surprised at the results. Its not often a team joint top of their league are in a position to seek a new manager, lets get thinking out of the box a bit, be brave, show some ambition and continue kicking on. A change doesnt always have to be a sideways or backwards step.

  32. We need to be realistic on managers past experience, when we signed McCall the majority of fans were up in arms going on about . Out the game for 5years , sacked in last 3 jobs, off field problems , too old school tactics and how he proved those thoughts wrong , let’s give who ever gets the job s chance and focus on their future and not the past , as someone said there is no one out there with a perfect CV

  34. Of course there’s a vast gulf in resources between us and the Old Firm, but we’ve just had 11 goals pumped past us in the two games this season with no reply. Most of the other teams in the league seem to be able to put up some sort of resistance tbh.

  37. A couple of weeks ago I called rather forcibly for a change of manager because of the unacceptably negative tactics he was continuing to use. Yesterday was a refreshing change though it cannot be over emphasised how poor Stranraer were. We had players revelling in the freedom to attack with Connolly perpetual motion on the right flank and Longridge running riot on the left. The fact that Gomis and Telfer both scored great goals tells you all you need to know about their performances. At the back we were never really troubled and though I won’t pretend to be Buchanan’s greatest fan the big man is captain material and the local man in the team. We have enough firepower up front to get the goals if they get the service and Sammon yet again yesterday showed great ability with the ball at his feet, we must end the hoofball up to him and play into his feet. He will score and create goals. We have plenty options to come into the team with Tidser and McShane both class acts if used properly. The next two fixtures will show just where we are at and whether the Manager has the bollocks to go for the throat of the stronger teams rather than his dreadful safety first default setting. No excuses go for the wins!
