  2. 13 months ago I watched in horror as Hartley's heroes were very lucky not to be 4 down at half time against yesterday's opposition. We were in no danger of that yesterday, scored 3 ourselves and had some chances to add to that. Are people getting annoyed that our league 1 team isn't playing like our top end of the championship team of a few years ago? The past few games have been crap, but that yesterday was a good win.

  7. Hopefully your good run will extend next week against one of the Glasgow orks! It took yous a while but you made some decent signings and I think top half is realistic, maybe top 4 again seeing a season Hearts and Hibs are doing shite! I hope we do. I’d take a play off place again and Shankland who The media had it in for him as he was following Steve Clarke who the press loved. Also he wasn’t one of the “Jobs for the boys” crew. Glad he’s finally silencing them a bit

  8. #TB4 unbeaten in the last 3 rounds of fixtures, an incredible 12 game unbeaten run. #W38 meanwhile have a run of 0 games unbeaten. Quite embarrassing for them.

  9. The ability to still win, even when we're not at our best is usually the mark of a successful team. It's easy to blame conditions after a poor performance, but they're the same for both teams, it's how you adapt and deal with it that counts. It's been said that when our regular match winners are off the boil, others step up to the plate when required, again a great team, everyone fighting for the cause. Usually when a club brings in a new manager, it's a quick fix, arrest a bad series of results, not to much of a future plan, the following season, back to square one. I feel this season we are now reaping the rewards of having patience in the gaffer, when other boards would've handed him his p45 a year ago, admittedly I was in that boat of doubting Young. Synics amongst us would say we couldn't afford to sack him, that maybe the case, but we can all see now the results of giving someone time to build his own team. I do feel Young brings in players, not just on ability, but also they need to have the right attitude to fit into his team ethic. Having a settled team has also brought its rewards on the park, another benefit of sticking with the manager, when others have a complete change of personnel as, the new man brings in his, "own players". The extention of contracts for next season already is unheard of at our level post-Bosman, just shows players want to be here and from the board down the club must be applauded. Happy days, long may it continue.

  10. Four points off the top. Two difficult matches coming up but win them and we are well on track. Onto Greenock we go. Let the Dabs shout from their Easy Angus hilltops as we chisel away in the background. Three points were a must today and three points gained. All that matters in this league. Thank you.

  14. What you've all been chomping at the bit for. The League Tables winners, losers about to be revealed below. In The Premier thing @Rugster wins another titke with @gkneil 2nd on QD from @Adamski. Going down are @alang1993 who posted his pub quiz score on Friday but forgot about the real thing. Joining him will be @Tynierose and @Arch Stanton with @Moomintroll in the play-off on QD. This week's SWL title goes to @Ziggy going up with @8MileBU which might be his first time in the big league and @MSU. Promotion play-off spot @Helpma. Grabbing their buckets and spades on the way down are @CaspianChris, @NotThePars and @The Captain with @NJ2 in the relegation play-off. BWV glory goes to newcomer @Silky Si McFly with @deej and @Ross also promoted. @pleslie99 is in the play-off. Bit closer than yesterday's result but @Nkomo-A-Gogo avoids the wooden spoon from @SlipperyP on QD. So it's over to @SlipperyP to let me know where I've fucked things up and also to set this weeks play-off question and @Moomintroll v @Helpma and @NJ2 v @pleslie99

  18. Darvel are delighted to announce the signing of Phil Johnstone, the ex Clydebank, Dumbarton, Airdrie, Stirling Albion and Clyde player will be a great a addition to the squad. Darvel Manager Mick Kennedy was delighted to get Phil on board “ Phil is another great addition to the club, he’s a versatile player I have admired for a number of years. When signing players it’s important you have the right characteristics to play for me and Phil has them in abundance, he’s also a great lad and will fit perfectly in to the squad. I would like to again thank the club for supporting me to bring Phil to Darvel“

  19. A lot of good points CLB and suggestions appreciated. I completely agree involving Kids & Community are key aspects as well as wider engagement. Some initiatives already off the ground with more too come I guess one of the biggest challenges as well as the availability of funds is the availability of people to support initiatives with the boar members pretty stretched. I will try and outline some of what's happening and I guess some of what the club would like to do too by easy of an update : Community work is underway on a Community Trust with the hugely successful 5K run being one of the first big initiatives . There been a huge amount of time spent on this and a complex process around Trust Agreements partnership consents etc. but highly advanced stage. Schools Alex Haddow doing a great job working with all the local schools to get them involved and attending as well arranging mascots. Our community coach Dean Ewing is also in the local schools running sessions too. The Club opened the Andy Mathew Lounge in the stand with the bar now open for the first time in 10 years available to fans pre match & post match with players in post match giving fans the chance meet building closer bonds. The lounge is available for Hospitality & for match sponsors etc too. Club has created a new Commercial package covering player sponsorship, match & ball sponsorship and advertising. The club has tried to break all the packages down and make them flexible to try & make more accessible to people so for example if someone can't afford to the full player sponsorship they have options starting at boot sponsorship. Also for the first time which has moved to be very popular opportunity to sponsor a step.Details on the club website clicking on the Commercial tab available here. The club lottery is now available fully on line including a mobile app you can play here. Blue Brazil TV has been ressurected to share highlights , post match interviews & player interviews as well as behind the goals coverage, still more to develop here but the more subscribers the more effective it is you can subscribe free here. New merchandise such as the popular Cowdenbeath. There are a number of other areas being worked on one of which coming soon free public access fast broadband across all of Central Park. I hope this gives an isight on some of what's ended and what's being worked on suggestions always welcomed too with fans already contributing some great suggestions. Financing a football club is not easy in this day and age & boards have a free budgets based on projected forecasts so in other words the board has to agree what they think is a realistic and achievable figure to give the manager a playing budget to recruit the kind of players that fans want see & hopefully in turn brings some success, none of these aspects hover are guaranteed. though. So in practical terms it means the board has to set targets across all income opportunities and push these to deliver the budget if they fail then there's a shortfall that some one has to cover. If fans are able to spread the word on sponsorship, hospitality etc that would go a huge way, as would using the lounge getting some atmosphere with fans & players etc. Also getting friends & family to try the lottery we are getting players now in the USA & Australia which is great. This is not a post to say how great the board are or have a moan complaint people are not doing enough it s intended to give some insights around progress & challenges. The club has some fantastic loyal and generous fans whom without there would be no club. Money is tight for every one & I know there are some already giving probably more than they can, that is why spreading the word on some of the opportunities available far & wide hips financially and also spreads the burden too. 20. Agree with this but have to say even though he finally stopped scoring, I actually thought Donnelly had a very effective game as well. To think, after the cup defeat we were all asking where the goals were going to come from. Yet we’ve just hit three for the third successive game since and if we’d taken even half our chances in those matches, that could have been well into double figures. I’m sure teams will eventually work out ways to stifle us but at the minute, we just seem to have too much pace and energy for teams to handle. At the very least, we look like we’ll be fun to watch this season though. Another thing that struck me yesterday was just how strong our bench looked. That’s without Turnbull, Sloth, Dunne, Ilic, Semple and Manzinga. So even if/when things go tits up which they invariably will at some point, there’s plenty of scope there for Robinson to shake things up. A far cry from his first season in charge where Deimantas Petravicius was considered a genuine option off the bench.

  21. I’ve learned some people carry fridges using just one arm, some people don’t even have fridges. Some people have slurped from a puddle, some people share a pint with straws. Some people have gone out with a group of strangers from the internet, some people have gone out themselves. Pies are to be kicked and consumed, but before or after your bovril? Doublers are both castigated and championed. From teetotallers to alki-junky scum, and some actually quite nice people in between. The good broThers of the Tennent’s society and those I’ll see at Ruel street. Does it enrich lives? Absolutely.

  23. After an eye bleeding, goalless 90 minutes that sees BT sport face censure from the authorities for broadcasting before the 9pm watershed, the realisation dawns on supporters that their manager will still be in a job come Monday morning. Meanwhile, the camera pans to Dempster and Budge, wearing half and half scarves, laughing and joking in the directors box.

  27. You get a good laugh on here especially in the general nonsense threads. It’s great for actual fan reaction to things happening in scottish football. If a story about a club breaks you don’t just get the half arsed scottish media story about what is going on, you can through the club pages and just see what the actual reaction to it is. That is the also the good thing about it, if you want to just see what’s going on at a club, you don’t have to go to a different site you have all the clubs threads here that you can read at your leisure. Also if someone texts me anything that even remotely has a hint of innuendo, intended or not i will reply with a kenneth williams pic.

  32. No-one has to. You were the one saying it was 'clear', now you are resorting to blurry screenshots to prove that you might not be totally wrong. The referee and linesman have to think it definitely does look over to give it, and even in your best screenshot you can't show that. On the footage we have it looks the correct decision.

  33. The Herald this morning reports for the second goal "Loic Damour surged forward unchecked before unleashing a fire-cracker from 20 yards which crossed the line after crashing off the underside of the bar." If you're going to score an own goal you might as well do it in style.

  34. They had a 10 point lead on a Saturday which became a 7 point lead when City played the next day and then it was a 4 point lead when City beat Liverpool at the Emirates the following weekend, the only domestic game Liverpool lost all season. They then had 2 draws in a row a couple weeks later away to West Ham and at home to Leicester and then 2 more draws away to Man Utd and Everton not long after and won every other game apart from that and finished on 97 points, one point behind City (and 7 points more than the Arsenal invincible team got) and also won the Champions league. Anyone claiming that Liverpool fucked up or bottled anything last season is at the wind up. Their odds have gone from about 3/1 to 6/4 of them winning the league due to City already dropping points, it will probably go down to the wire again but I can see them both being pretty close to 100 points again so every time one of them drops points is potentially massive even at this stage.

  37. It is very clear to me that Kincardine, Malky and others like them see the writing on the wall with regards to Scottish Independence support gathering pace over the last few years, their obsession with Queen and country etc is now receding very quickly within the Scottish populace and they are very much in the minority. If proof is needed of that minority then it can be seen at All Under One Banner marches where at one point as we thousands pass there is always that small group of twenty or so unionists waving their union flags and screaming filth at us. I imagine that the comeback will be the orange order marches with their antiquated unionist beliefs, but believe me that outside Glasgow they mean nothing, whereas the AUOB marches have been conducted throughout Scotland in Cities and Towns, even wee Campbeltown with a population of 6000 had a march. Independence is coming whether you like or not, so if it's not your bag you can scurry down to england if you prefer. You will not be missed.

  44. Little old Ayr United... Imagine what McCall could do with Neilson’s budget, he’s a fucking imposter. A team of youngsters and a couple of wise old heads, passing through and around a rabble. It’s clear to see what McCall tries to work on on the training ground. Other than firing diagonal balls to Appere on the left Neilson hadn’t a fucking clue. It’s a joy to watch McCowan, who by the way has unbelievable strength in fending off challenges, and Kelly. The little triangles and passes of play we put together were magic, Kerr instrumental in most of it. Relieved to see Doc pick himself up, he’s now indispensable after Murdoch’s injury. All told, we don’t have the strength in depth to maintain a challenge at the top of the table but we play football the right way. DU have plenty of strength in depth but there’s plenty of other sides in this league that will see through one dimensional Neilson.
