  1. To be fair, if it is 3m as reported, that’s a 100k for every game the boy’s ever started for Motherwell. Also, a million quid for every goal he scored against top six opposition last season... In all seriousness though, it’s a phenomenal amount of money for the club and some people seem to have lost sight of that. For a player who, as the Capt says above, could have quite easily walked away and left us for pennies(comparatively speaking) like Hastie did. Since taking over Alan Burrows(and co) have surely now wiped out the club dept, taken in 5m in player sales(give or take) and will probably be posting there second seven figure profit of his tenure on the back of this deal. They have quite frankly done a remarkable job in a short space of time and deserve a bit more respect than some of the arseholes on social media show him/them. Maybe I’m wired slightly different, however seeing grown adults greeting and demanding answers from the club on social media is an absolute fucking mile oot.

  2. There was a time when I'd have been outraged at players leaving us to go to the Pars. Clichéd as f**k but these boys have a short career and I can't grudge them sticking an extra one or two hundred quid on their weekly wage. Aye, "f**k the Pars" and aw that when we're playing them but it's only a game and folk dishing out abuse at players bettering themselves financially really need to take a good look at themselves.

  9. (The wee one has been unwell the last few days) I've just got home and obviously I go in and look in on the wee one. She's snoring and looks comfy. So I head to bed. Her: Did you check the wee one's nappy? (In 2 years she has never shit in her nappy while she's been sleeping. Even as a newborn). Me: No. Her: Why not? Me: Well she looks like she hasn't moved since you put her to bed* so she's obviously in a good sleep and I didn't want to wake her. * Duvet looked like a made bed. Unheard of with her as she's a wriggler. Her: Can you check it though? I go and check and as expected her nappy is fine. The wee one wakes up. Her: You've woken her. Me: Because you fucking told me to check her nappy!! (A whispered shout) Seriously, they are a different fucking breed.

  12. I left Scotland 30 odd years ago to live in England and then 10 years ago I moved to SE Asia. For the vast majority of my time living abroad, when people asked "where are you from?" I was quite happy to say "I'm from Britain, I'm British". All my days I have been a Labour party supporter / voter / sometimes member. Since the Brexit vote and result I have seen the light. When people now ask "where are you from?" I can't say "Scotland!" quick enough to differentiate myself from all the foreigner haters in Englandshire, and if I was living back in Scotland I would now vote SNP. We're not Trumpists, xenophobes, racists, we're better than that, surely? Build bridges, not walls!

Guys i deleted the last thread due to it turning into a farce from certain posters , our thread is about Darvel Juniors and football and nothing else and if people want to have a go at us for being ambitious thats fine and laugh if we fail that is also fine but keep it to football or it will be deleted for good

  20. Not sure if you are joking but three seasons ago Montrose were one game from going out the league completely which they would have struggled to come back from. They then won the league despite not being expected to. They were then predicted to finish bottom of the league and get relegated. They absolutely should celebrate getting into the play offs. Had it not been for Stephen Dobbie then they might have gone up. I really don’t think we should be looking to slag any club especially Montrose who are one of the best run clubs in Scotland.

  21. Now I'm not sure if you're being serious here but, You are willing to take back and develop a player for Rangers, who although he was well within his rights to leave the club, ensured we would get nowhere near market value for him or allow us to insert clauses in to any sale. Yet, little over an hour ago you are wishing a guy who signed a contract to ensure we were able to get a fee that will probably free the club of debt and if spent wisely hopefully ensure that more players come through the youth system fails miserably in his future career.

  23. Exactly! Airdrie have made some decent signings, nothing ground breaking but probably best of the bunch, they’ll be better this season. Forbes and Kirkpatrick are very good signings for Forfar but the 4 Brechin signings would be getting all sorts of stick from the same people if we signed them. They are replacing Eckersley, Reilly, Easton, Spencer and Baird too which is a lot of quality lost. East Fife have signed Higgins who was with them as they fell apart last season, Murdoch who barely kicked a ball for them due to injury. Duggan was decent with us but we all agree it was right to let him go due to his injury record. Wallace is a good signing but again how many people would be complaining if we paid a fee for someone like him? Also, important to note he scored the same amount of goals for a league winning side as Victoria did with Stranraer and Airdrie. Pretty much identical minutes per goal too. And Denholm has a poor season with Arbroath with 2 goals in 30 games. Grant Anderson got 5 in 31. Some people just love a good moan, our signings haven’t been as good as Falkirk obviously, the budget difference is huge. However, in comparison to the rest of the league, I’m pretty happy. We will still probably add another 3/4 starters. Can’t judge anyone’s business definitively until the window is closed.

  30. Relegation cost the club somewhere in the region of £175,000. The old board were also somewhat lax in their attitude towards ground maintenance and did little to control finances. The current board have inherited a shit storm of various issues that it had to address, from loan repayments to creditors who could otherwise have made it difficult for us to issues with the ground. They've imposed financial discipline but it's been costly and reduced crowds last season haven't helped. No point in dressing things up. It's a difficult time for the club right now. There's a balance to be found between gambling with the future of the club and working with sustainable budgets. Investment would clearly help but one off investment isn't something you can rely on and ad-hoc director loans as were common in years gone by create the kind of financial holes that you can't easily dig yourself out of. Our crowds dropped by a couple of hundred following relegation. Home fan numbers reduced. Away fan numbers certainly reduced. Getting the club back on a more controlled and stable financial footing takes time and means difficult decisions. Unfortunately there's no magic money tree. If we want a bigger budget for players then we need to earn it. We need bigger crowds. We need more sponsors. We need increased commercial revenue. If we can't earn it then we can't spend it. It's not all doom and gloom but we do need a degree of realism right now. The club needs to look after it's finances, address the competing issues of player recruitment and infrastructure repairs/maintenance and it needs to do so in a way that doesn't risk the future of the club. Throwing money around may have been an option on championship prize money and crowds but we didn't always spend it wisely or on the right areas. That's been addressed over the past 18 months but we've all seen what financial reality looks like. The alternative without increased revenues would be dangerous.

  31. If we haven’t signed some players in the next 24hrs I’m probably gonna have no choice but to frustratingly wait longer until we do sign some players. But I won’t be happy about it.

  32. Surely won't impact on the pot, as that is based on licence level, rather than membership type. Seems this is more to do with voting (for now anyway). Whole thing is getting a bit Turkeys and Christmas. It's almost as if the SFA dint actually want to promote the game at all levels like they say the do, they want to protect the game for those already in the club.....

  35. To be honest I am not really that fussed about this. Felt at times last season he got off lightly with the fans when others were getting pelters. Also never really thought he was captain material. One of those if he signed fair enough, if he doesn't fair enough.

  37. Kilmarnock Football Club is delighted to become the first provincial club in Scotland to install safe standing areas within Rugby Park. Working with Trust in Killie, the club has identified an area of the East Stand and one section of the Moffat Stand to introduce rail seats, which can be flipped up or even locked in place to create a standing area. Celtic were the first club in Scotland to install a safe standing section in 2016 with the aim of improving the matchday atmosphere and we hope to achieve the same at our stadium. Director Cathy Jamieson said: “We have been looking at the option to install safe standing areas for the past few months and after much research, we are delighted to announce that we have agreed on an installation schedule and will be able to offer this very soon. “Our supporters have been paramount to the process and as the first provincial Club in Scotland that will be able to offer this to fans, we really look forward to seeing the project to completion. “Funded by Trust in Killie, a supporter lead organisation, we expect demand for this new area in the East Stand to be high and look forward to improving the matchday experience for our fans in the grounds where comradery will further enhance the matchday atmosphere. “I would like to thank existing Season Ticket holders in this area, some of which have held their seats for a number of years, as they have very kindly agreed to move from the areas affected. “We have been working hard to ensure they are satisfied with the service they received from our team to make sure they got the best alternative arrangements. Supporters in this area and Trust in Killie members will get first refusal in the new safe standing areas, but we are sure that there will be enough to appeal supporter demands.”

  41. Fife Free Press have just posted on Twitter that Raith have accepted the bid from DAFC and Euan Murray is set to sign for you guys today. Presumably, Nisbet will follow shortly and if so, you cant grudge the pair of them the chance to move to a bigger team in a league above.

  42. ABOVE - This is it in a nutshell. Junior clubs take the bull by the horns and get it sorted for yourself. Apply to become a senior team in the pyramid system. If you don't want to do it, don't do it. If no WOS during application then apply to go to the EOS or SOS leagues and try and go further in the pyramid/promotion etc.... If a WOS eventually starts and you are in the EOS or SOS then apply the following year to join the WOS when it starts, simples, To the SFA, get your finger out your arse and start a WOS league at Tier 6 and WOS tiers below this. Advertise for applications and watch them flood in. If any remaining teams from the East juniors want to join the pyramid then get your house in order as the west juniors would have to do, meet the criteria and join the pyramid. On a personal note, I am a coach at youth level, part of the coaching team that's been producing lads for juniors and senior levels and we go through shit due to bureaucracy, idiot people/hierarchy and at the SYFA who think they know it all and some of their decisions actually harm youth football. They know they are wrong but because they made them up they think they will stick with them whatever the consequence. its the same at every level of football. We suffer and have to deal with it. The juniors sound like is no exceptions to these things. Its a great institution with problems as everything does, but I personally look for the bigger picture. Id love to see most join a pyramid system and I believe every one of us, fans, coach's, players, supporters, junior teams, senior teams, and Scottish football will be the beneficiaries of this

  45. Pretty much this. I wanted Clarke appointed and obviously remain, firmly behind him. Last night however, he picked a bizarre looking side, and we were duly horsed. Those highlighting apparent positives are doing so because they like Clarke, rather than because of anything they objectively saw in the game.

  46. Strange kind of game to summarise, but I'll try. I don't think any of our players looked lost or confused. All were decent. A few had a notable brainfart (McTominay, McKenna, Burke), but as I say none were flailing madly throughout the game. Equally, I thought McTominay was class for the majority of the game, McLean too. Greg Taylor look assured and composed throughout. Fraser was a threat. Marshall did really well. 3-0 looks like a floor-wiping but all through the game there was a strong sense of purpose and a clear system. That system was flawed in places - the number of wild punts fwd to nobody being the biggest frustration - but apart from that it looked very cohesive and appears to be a strong work in progress.

  47. I think our supporters might feel hard done by or something but I don’t get it. Nisbet owes us sweet F A. He came in with no one expecting much and if it wasn’t for him banging on goals, pretty much single handedly I’d guarantee crowds wouldn’t be as high etc. He owes us nothing and I wish him the best. Young talent beginning to grow, good on him. Yes it stings it’s to the Pars but s**t happens. Be different if it was Vaughan, give that boy a 10 year contract. Love of my life, don’t tell the Mrs.
