  1. Over the last 13 weeks or whatever, the small part I've played in all of this, this thread, and the whole journey, has been absolutely brilliant. At no point, did I ever imagine I'd be a part of something like this, and I can only thank every one else involved for letting me have my small part. Turning up to talk football with some pals on the podcast has, without any exaggeration, has changed a bunch of our lives forever. I got to piss about with the Scottish cup at the weekend FFS. The response that we've got week in week out has been genuinely overwhelming, so thank you everyone that has watched, talked about it, shared it or told a pal. I appreciate that we're not for everyone and that's totally fine, but I hope that we've added something to the whole way Scottish football is covered. With staples like Sportscene and Off the Ball and the growth of Open Goal, Pure Fitbaw, a million club specific podcasts (Shoutout MFC) and the plethora of outlets covering the game, there's something for everyone, that even a couple of years ago, just didn't exist, which is fuckin cool.

  2. That already happens. Look at all the Dundee United players who were in the box, twelve yards out, yet still all aimed at Hladky’s hands.

  3. With Hendry pulling the strings in midfield and Matthews whispering grossly offensive slurs to wind up the opposition, I don’t see how anyone can stop us.

  5. 22 barely interested millionaires going through the motions half way across the world in front of corporate suits, less than 6000 genuine fans and a terrible atmosphere. Get used to it lads, this is the future. Mmm, the beautiful game.

  6. Just watched the highlights back on BT catch up there as I was at the game with a friend, and didn’t realise just quite how bad Beatons performance was. The penalty I can kind of understand but surely the distance between the players and the speed the ball is going at has to be taken into account. I seen craigkillile posted that Baird sticks his hand out like a goalkeeper but his hand is actually in that position before the ball is struck. Very harsh. Pawletts aerial challenge is a second yellow every time and he should have been sent off. Connoly taking down Nazons is so obviously a foul it’s this incident that makes me question Beatons motive. No experienced official can look at that and say it’s not a foul, the ball doesn’t change direction in any way and Connoly comes in a clips Nazon. Nazons red card is just a shambles, and to give that as a straight red after the Pawlett and Safranko challenges is astonishing.

  9. Let us have our fun at Robbie Neilson's expense please. He thought Utd were promoted and straight into the Champions League and that's the end of it.

  12. Tbh I'm going to miss posting about football with real fans. The roasters who follow many of the Premiership clubs and post on P&B, really make match threads and discussions hard to bear at times. In the championship forum you can (usually) at least have a different point of view with someone, without the discussion descending into chaos with hissy fits and name calling.

  13. He rejected a lengthy loan move to us in the January window. I met him by chance a few months afterwards in Falkirk and asked him about it; he said he wanted to go back to England at the end of the season.

  15. If that's the idea it sort of makes sense really. Might give guys like Barrownan (if hes still there) a better chance. Is there anything else imminent, or can't you say? Trust me, I'm saying NOTHING after the debacle last week.

  16. I hold my hands up and admit i was over critical of the board over the past week. I just felt felt the lack of noise from the club was them trying to shut us out. I understand this wasn’t the case. I’ve just seen the new plan in place for the season tickets which I think is absolutely brilliant. I wasn’t going to be able to renew my ticket because I’m getting married in September but I’ll now be able to renew mine. I suppose it means the club knows it will be getting a steady stream of some kind of income at least every month.

  26. Before the second kick Beaton made a point of telling Hladky that he had to be on the line just before the kick was taken. There was absolutely no reason for Beaton to get in Hladky's face before the third penalty, if he was telling him exactly the same thing. Hladky showed far more about being a professional footballer than Beaton did in mastering the basics of refereeing.

  27. The board have, unfairly, taken an absolute pounding recently. Some of the responses on the Lennox's Facebook page to the article saying news is coming this week for example were absolutely mental. In the space of two days though they've managed to convince a universally popular manager to stay, and then put a system in place that should help to make season tickets available to almost everyone. All that whilst battling against owners who appear determined to be as difficult to deal with as humanly possible. Huge credit is due to everyone involved.

  28. We’re not going to be on a lower budget christ. We’re offering guys like Bell, Moffat, Kerr, Adams, Geggan reduced terms for the obvious reason of age/game time. Say Geggan for the last 2 years was on £300 a week, he’s hardly kicked a ball the last 5 months, would it make sense to offer him the same terms for the forthcoming season? Of course not. Ayr fans neee to calm the f**k down, it’s still May

  31. holy shit @Dele Any team that employs Jim Goodwin becomes my de facto second-favourite team. Hope he's as much of a legend for you as he is for us by the end of this spell at Dens*. * Excluding any potential cup and/or playoff encounters with us.

  32. And you wonder why contributions are dwindling on here. You are entitled to your opinion, and I agree with some of it, but posting the same stuff over and over again? 3 or 4 times a day? You'll come back at me with some bile, some tosh about me being a Bell supporting Trust member... but all you are doing is ensuring that the already limited number of fans who post on here will just not bother.

  34. Well done! That's an amazing achievement and a great story to read. Slightly similar to yourself, I had a shit year last year, split up with my girlfriend whilst we were planning on buying our first home. We were staying with her parents at the time so I had to move out and basically stay with mates and eventually move back in with my mum until I could get the money together for my own place. A year on and I'm on the verge of buying my own place and although it's not a marathon, I'm planning on running the 10k at The Great Scottish Run in September raising funds for Mental Health UK. It's been rough but I definitely feel like my life is back on track and it's great to read about other people who've managed to turn their lives around.

  40. The way it was explained to me (which I may not have stated clearly when I put it in whichever story I put it in) was that rather than having a first-team squad and a reserve squad like last season, we now have one "senior" squad from which both first-team and reserve sides will be picked. All of the signings announced since the end of the season are joining this squad, so we now have four "senior" goalies - equivalent to having two first-team goalies and two reserve goalies last season. I've probably still not made a great job of explaining that.

  41. Some people really need to stop reading the drivel on the SRE, its self perpetuating doom and gloom We have lost 10 players from last years squad, 4 were definite starters, 1 of which was a loan player, 3 first team squad, again 2 were on loan, and 3 players that Higgins aside never kicked a ball all season We have made offers to 6 of last years team - 5 are the experienced players / getting on a bit and have been offered lower basic salary to free up some cash Kerr, and Bell have resigned. Only Moff would be considered a starter, Kerr, Bell and Geggan solid squad players and Adams will play a part at some point Only other players we are waiting on signing on again are Crawford and Moore. Obviously you are in a better negotiation position if you make noises of not having a lot to spend, then if we are offering decent wages it makes it look like we are pushing the boat out to sign someone, and agents are less likely to try and fleece us which they would if they think we can afford it. Getting a decision on Doohan early is critical, then we can focus on getting a CH and Forward then a winger, then you cna look at a replacement for anyone that doesnt sign on.

  44. Oh, and a wee word on Ferdinand. He hardly played in the last 2-3 months, but always seemed to be in good spirits when warming up with the subs, and keen to interact with young fans. Something I thought was great given how many players in his position could have had a completely different attitude. That said, I was bricking it when he had to come on on Sunday. No matches for months, and coming in to such an important game. I couldn't have been more wrong - never put a foot wrong, despite smoking a pipe and wearing big bunny slippers. Class. I doubt we'll seem him next year, but thanks for everything Anton.

  45. Warning - emotional, happy clappy annoying c**t post coming up. Apologies in advance but it’s too embarrassing to say to actual people so I’m sharing with P&B instead. I ran the Edinburgh marathon on Sunday. I had a target time in mind and after about 17/18 miles I realised I wouldn’t make that time. I started to get angry and disappointed with myself, whilst my entire body ached. Then I started to think back to 8 months ago. A fat blob, off work because the depression had got too much. Spending my days at home playing fifa and shamefully sometimes drinking beer to take my mind off the unmitigated mess I’d made of my life. I couldn’t look in the mirror, I got angry at my wife if she tried to photo me as I didn’t want there to be any record of this fat c**t. It wasn’t just a vanity thing that I was fat, it was the physical embodiment of how broken I was as a person. I wanted to die. That coward would never have had the courage to actually take his own life, he’d probably have just drank himself to death. I felt like my wife was still here out of obligation and a duty of care rather than actually wanting to. And I suddenly realised that my marathon time didn’t matter a f**k. In the last 8 months I’ve lost the weight, new job, I have a better relationship with alcohol, food, my wife and I are back to being just happy to be together, I’ve even started saving money up. I’ve realised not only can I live with this vile voice in my head but I can excel with it. I was doing a marathon FFS. Anyway, sorry for the bore, but you’re all good c***s on this thread and for anyone suffering, your time to beat it like I have is coming.
