  1. I started supporting City way back in the olden days when we had Mancini as boss, and guys like Dzeko, Kolarov etc in the team. Stuck with the team through thick and thin over the years though and the faith is justified as we top off this season with yet another Premier League. So emotional right now.

  3. I don’t see the issue with a smoke bomb as long as it’s 1) not flung on the park and 2) isn’t let off in a 3 sided stand. There isn’t a single bit of danger in it and if it was affecting you you could just walk away from it in seconds. Entirely different from when one was set off at Starks Park at the Pars game. We need to let these young boys feel like they’re part of the club and let them do their bit to support the team because if they stop coming it goes back to being a fucking morgue within a week. They’ve finally brought a bit of atmosphere back to the football and its enjoyable. Young boys - keep doing your thing.

  9. I'm no even a Berwick fan and this question is tedious now. They'll be in the Lowland League. They'll be in the EOSL if they finish bottom again in the LL This is the result of the attitude of the SMSM. Anything that happens below the top rung is completely ignore to the point that, to all intents and purposes, it didn't happen at all! To be sure almost anything that happens outwith you-know-who is paid lip service and invariably invokes speculation about a move to you-know-who if it is a positive/succesfull event. BBC Friday Night Football coverage of the Championship is a step in the right direction but there is no context. 5 minutes of prelude by Steven Thomson and A N Other really doesn't do it. Neither does a couple of throwaway remarks on Sportscene a couple of times a season. Why can't they do a piece about the clubs involved, their current situation, their chances this season, what they're aiming for, the potential ramifications of defeat etc etc and so on. The story of Berwick Rangers is worth telling. So is the story of Cove Rangers. And Peterhead and Arbroath and Albion Rovers - fox ache it took Sky fucking Sports to pick up on the revival of Albion Rovers and that should register on the Richter Scale. I haven't even seen any clips of Cove-Berwick yet. The idea there is no interest in the lower leagues is utter rubbish. There is. And the SMSM could drive that forward by giving it decent coverage. If the coverage was there people would take an interest andbullyweehutch and others wouldn't have to continually explain what is going out there beyond "winning the premiership league".

  10. Huge fan of the frequent posts like this. You're well aware how terrible a season you’ve had, so take your medicine. Over the last decade Morton, Dunfermline, Queen of the South, Livingston, St Mirren (without even falling to the third tier) and Raith have had appalling seasons and taken a hounding from fans of other clubs for it. While there are obviously complete cretins who had meltdowns in all of the above supports, mostly their fans accepted their club was a ridiculous mess and deserved every bit of stick they got, even though some of that was dreadful patter despite the open goal being presented. There’s only one set of fans who’ve collectively played the ‘obsessed’ card and furiously insisted that anyone mocking another team being relegated is what’s really tinpot, while at the same time revelling in the misfortune of Stenhousemuir of all teams without a hint of irony. You’re right that other clubs will have as shite a time as Falkirk have had this season in the future; that’s exactly why they’ll enjoy lording it over another club in the shit while the opportunity is there. This is how schadenfreude on P&B and among football fans generally works.

Sometimes I think they ( media) come out with these statements without really having a f'n clue about what has been happening. Let's face it , unless its about 2 Glasgow clubs they couldn't really give 2 fuks anyway.

Can I take advantage of this Forum to thank all the Video Highlight Contributors who play such a vital part in providing “armchair” supporters (for whatever reason) with the opportunity to continue to follow their team. In my case Gerry King had provided me and other Rutherglen Glencairn supporters with such detailed, unbiased imo, hightlights of our Championship winning Season.[emoji471] Thanks Gerry. Your efforts are much appreciated, I can assure you!

  15. Not really got a lot to say about the game. It stands as an appropriate metaphor for a calamitous, catastrophic, tragic, disastrous season. Cove were simply better in every department and it could as easily have finished 6-0 or 8-0 than 4-0... They hit the bar twice, forced a couple of desperate saves from our 'keeper, missed a pair of sitters, were unlucky not to see a few goal-line scrambles go in, and produced a number of other chances. We had a couple of flying headers and forced one save. It could have been an utter rout. It was by my no means our worst performance of recent months, either. Basically the players aren't good enough, didn't try enough or don't care enough, in various combinations. Some are genuinely just out of their depths and doing all they can - others a disgrace to the shirt. It was telling the "big hopes" cited among the support before kick-off were Brydon and See... both fringe men returning from injury. Dougie is a capable player, at non-league level, but has spent a couple of years playing with Greenlaw in the Border Amateur League and has allegedly already signed a pre-contract to return there with Duns next season. Ouzy - who never got on today anyway - has been crocked for nearly a year. It's clearly impossible for such players to obtain a level of performance, fitness and match sharpness to make any difference in a side otherwise full of sub-standard quality and effort. You can't build a fighting force out of amateurs, cripples and passengers. We'd have been beaten by at least half the teams in HL or LL today. Despite the distance, the depression of recent months and the near inevitability of the outcome, there was a good Berwick following up. Singing throughout, positive and supportive, and only when it went 3-0 did the gloom set in and a quiet fall over the scene. Even then the young lads rallied with gallows humour. There was no pride, passion or performance on the park - but there was plenty around it, and dignity. I felt proud to be among them. Others are to blame: our fans have taken far more than their due, and backed the team to this... the bitterest of bitter ends.

  17. There is absolutely no doubt that a large number of full time players(and even some part-timers ‘at-it’) absolutely love being able to go into sub-par local nightclubs and pick up dense girls with ‘I’m a footballer’ That your day consisting of 2 hours training get your lunch made for you and maybe an hour at the gym before spending the rest of the day playing fifa or hanging out at Starbucks. Maybe on a busy day you’ll have some community engagement(school visits etc) when you’ll again be able to boost your ego. As long as your being payed enough to cover a discounted bmw lease, some blond hair dye and a shared flat then many will be absolutely delighted. Maybe a couple of win bonuses to pay for some shite tattoos.

  25. Well that was a bit of a sore one! Thought we did ok for the the first 10mins .. then let Dobbie do what he does .. for the next 10 we were on top and could’ve equalised .. then Dillo and Flem reproduced the fkk up that they’ve managed to pull off on a scarily regular basis .. leaving Dykes an easy finish. After that it was verging on farce .. think Queens scored with their first 5 shots on target? We occasionally do this to ourselves .. 2-6 vs Peterhead anyone? Anyway .. good luck to Queens. Keep Dobbie fit and you’ll dispatch Raith with ease. Without him you’ll struggle as Raith are decent up front but grim from midfield back. It’s been a great season for us .. 8th was the target. Need to bring in 2 or 3 better quality players for what is going to be a tougher league next year ... but thanks guys for what has been a real pleasure this (and last) season.

  29. Worshipful Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Brethren all. What a day for the loyal sons of Scotia! Putting our greatest rivals to the sword before a worldwide tv audience of hundreds of millions! That'll have silenced the Irish bars of Boston and Brooklyn. The IRA collection tins will be empty tonight. Some have tried to downplay our achievement - the best by a Scottish team this season, without a shadow of a doubt - by saying this was a "meaningless game". "A meaningless game!" Let us make this crystal clear - no game played by Glasgow Rangers International Football Club PLC (Jim, it's the club that plays the games and the company that doesn't pays the bills - DK) is a meaningless game. It is an honour - bestowed on only a chosen few - to pull on the Rangers jersey. Many are called but few can fill the boots of such collossi of the Scottish football scene as (subs: insert some random Rangers "greats" viz Baxter, Greig, etc - JT). Thus they will strain every sinew, use every muscle to bring further glory and honour to the great institution they have been honoured to represent. Today was a day that will hold a place in our glorious history, preventing Celtic from winning at Ibrox, where no team can come close to our record this season, apart from Aberdeen managed by the tactical genius that is Bro Derek McInnes (Oh yes, he is an Orange b******) The Dons having a 50% win record (Jim, we're not looking for a manager, you can stop bigging up McInnes - DK). Make no mistake. We have dealt our foes a mortal blow, from which they may not be able to recover. We have regained our spot as the only team in Scotland capable of thwarting the f****** hordes Irish menace catholic interlopers team whose name we do not mention. It was a joy to watch our enthusiastic fans celebrating the greatest victory since our founder King William the Third defeated King James Mercenary X1 at The Boyne - a game which lives vividly in our memory - by running onto the pitch to goad the opposition congratulate our players. Some have tried to categorise this as hooliganism! Nonsense! Hooliganism is what happened at Hampden Park on 21st May 2016 by the fans of that particular club. Such exuberance by our fans is only to be encouraged and we hope they have many occasions next season to indulge in such GIRFUYs. Incidentally, season tickets are now on sale and early Bears can gain a 25% discount (sales will help keep the lights on until our lucrative money spinning Europa League Prelimanry Pre Qualifying tie against Ubekistan Camel Farmers), so roll up and get your ticket early. (Slipped that in at the end as requested, Dave - JT)

  34. The belief that SP has instilled in the players along with key appointments in his back room staff is the reason that we are where we are. It would be great to have a Dobbie, McAllister or a player of that ilk playing for us, however we have honest hardworking pro’s that play for the shirt. As for yesterday perhaps a game to far, we gave Dobbie far to much space and respect & he punished us. Can’t fault the players for their efforts this season. Have not missed a game since SP took over and have seen our travelling support grow and to have 281 down yesterday was fantastic. The kids are happy today as my voice is near enough away. Best of luck in the play off finals.

  38. Where to start with the 2018/19 season? There are a number of factors that have contributed to our relegation, so now's an apt time to examine them one by one and try to understand how and why we've dropped back into League 2 after just 12 months. When Brown Ferguson's team won promotion to League 1 via the play-offs, there was always an expectation they'd struggle. We had an above-average fourth-tier squad with two exceptional players - Mark McGuigan, who enjoyed the most prolific season of his career, and Harry Paton, a terrific creative midfield on loan from Heart of Midlothian, someone who was starring at a level well below his capabilities - and unless there was major surgery, we were always likely to battle at the bottom of the table. Major surgery did come, but it wasn't in the way we hoped or expected. Let's examine the defence first. We had a good back four in League 2 in Ruaridh Donaldson, Mick and Ross Dunlop, and Ross Meechan, players who would most certainly have performed well for us in this division. Donaldson stayed on (a surprise given how well he'd done the previous year) but the other three all moved on. I can't quite recall what happened with the Dunlops and their contracts but Mick joined Peterhead and Ross signed for East Fife. Meechan, meanwhile, was someone I thought would stay at Ochilview for years but he was offered a tremendous wage to sign for Forfar Athletic, where he's continued to improve and, for my money, has been the best right-back in the division this term. In their place came Morgyn Neill, a solid-but-raw centre-back from Stranraer and Albion Rovers stalwart Alan Reid, who looked slow and unfit over the first half of the season. Perhaps most perplexing of all was the signing of Jesus Garcia Tena from Edinburgh City. We had played Edinburgh five times last year, winning every game, with Tena looking hugely cumbersome and ineffective each time. Why on earth Ferguson brought him to Stenhousemuir, I do not know, but his arrival caused some consternation behind the scenes. As such, our defence looked weaker than last season's and, up until January, had been an enormous concern. With Harry Paton returning to Ross County, we badly lacked creativity in the middle of the park (although he would return to the club on loan for a couple of months). The midfield was stocked with energetic water carriers and honest triers but no-one who could really provide a spark of magic or open up a defence. Up front, other than McGuigan, there was no goal threat. Players like Seb Ross (underwhelming considering his reputation within Aberdeen’s academy), Kevin O’Hara (hard working but very limited, and rarely fielded) and Bobby Vaughan (nowhere near good enough) flitted in and out of the team as the manager tried to find some kind of successful combination. Bomber was sacked at the start of November following a 2-0 home defeat to Stranraer. At that point of the season, we were pretty much where most people expected us to be – sitting in the lower reaches of the table amongst a throng of other mediocre sides and a handful of points from the top four. Quite what the board expected from the team at this point, I don’t know, but Ferguson’s dismissal was perplexing. Would we have been relegated if he had still been in charge? Who knows. There were some frustrations about his management (reductive tactics, poor use of substitutions, assembling an unbalanced squad) but it still didn’t make any sense at the time and it still doesn’t now. Neither did the board’s search for a new manager. When they made a second call looking for applications (the deadline is tomorrow!) it suggested there was no real strategy behind Ferguson’s removal, just change for change’s sake. I suspect the board expected to be flooded with decent candidates but were alarmed when few were forthcoming. Colin McMenamin was awarded the job two-and-a-half weeks and three games later following the sensational 4-2 victory over Falkirk in the Scottish Cup, the season’s unalloyed high point and probably my favourite moment following the Warriors. The fact the job was given to McMenamin – part of Ferguson’s coaching team – gave the impression there were no viable applicants and they had to look within. This is not to denigrate McMenamin, far from it, but the lack of forward thinking was palpable. Other than a 2-1 win over Brechin City in his second game in charge, there was no immediate upturn in form under the new manager and we were suckered to the bottom of the table. It wasn’t until the January transfer window when the arrivals of Andy Munro, David Marsh and Greg Hurst brought about an improvement (and that Munro was awarded our Player of the Season despite featuring in less than half of our league games tells its own story). McMenamin settled on a 3-5-2 system, making the team more difficult to break down. With Conor McBrearty, a converted centre-back, bounding around the middle of the park, there was a lot of energy, albeit one without much quality; it’s perhaps worth pointing out that if the league table began on 26 January, Munro’s first game for the club, we would be in fifth place after 15 matches. Even so, as we improved, so too did Dumbarton (who I never felt were really going to be threatened by relegation, not with Dom Thomas in their team) and Stranraer and we were never able to take advantage whenever they slipped up. For instance, at the end of March, Stranraer lost at Montrose and we beat Dumbarton, creating four points between ourselves at the bottom and the Sons in seventh; the next week, we lost a late equaliser to Raith Rovers while Dumbarton and Stranraer both won. Both teams continued to do well while we faltered and we found ourselves stuck in ninth. For all the improvements, we continued to shoot ourselves in the foot and some of the defending over the latter part of the season has been unreal. We lost a last-minute equaliser at East Fife, despite being the better team throughout, when we failed to deal with a simple corner; Alan Reid played a short backpass to Graeme Smith in a defeat at Montrose; Morgyn Neill sliced a clearance towards his own net, forcing Smith to push the ball straight to Liam Buchanan in the aforementioned 1-1 draw with Raith; Neill again sold the jerseys in the stalemate against East Fife at the end of April with an unsighted backpass that went straight to Aaron Dunsmore; and three of Annan Athletic’s four goals in the play-off semi-finals came from set-pieces. Real head-in-hands stuff, truly. We weren’t much better further forward. McGuigan had a good season with a poor team, scoring 16 times, but our second highest scorer was Alan Cook with three. Hurst provided a bit of spark in attack and linked well with McGuigan but his return of just one goal isn’t good enough. The play-off semi-final defeat to Annan rankles. We were shocking in the first leg, barely landing a glove on them – the biggest game of the season and everything was wrong, from the starting XI to the tactics to the substitutions to the application (that’s not to discredit Annan’s victory, who were far better than us). If there was ever a week to make an unlikely comeback, it was this, but Kyle Bradley’s early goal in the second leg gave us an enormous task to overcome. The effort was there, and there was a flurry to chances either side of David Marsh’s well-taken strike, but it all petered out and Steven Swinglehurst quietly killed off the contest. Being “olé”d by Annan supporters is horrible, believe you me. So there we are. We were disadvantaged at the start of the season by poor recruitment and although we got better in January, it still wasn’t enough. We deserved to be relegated on the back of the last two games alone. Dropping into League 2 is a massive disappointment, more so because Falkirk had inexplicably found themselves in the third tier for the first time in decades and the prospect of playing them four times was absolutely tantalising. We’ll probably never get the chance to do it again – the Bairns should win the league next term, given their relative size and resources, and there’s no guarantee we’ll get promoted, even if Falkirk somehow stay down. What a huge missed opportunity! Perhaps the only positive is we have a decent group of players contracted for next year. McGuigan as mentioned earlier, scored 23 goals last season, while Munro and Marsh are a good defensive partnership for League 2, and Alan Cook, often frustrating, occasionally world class, should do well. I’m unconvinced about the goalkeeper, who has shown in recent weeks a tendency to punch the ball as well as getting involved in petty squabbles with opposition players, while the decision to sign Kieron Gibbons on a two-year contract last summer seems strange in hindsight, given he actually isn’t very good. Nevertheless, it’s a decent base to start from. Thomas Halleran should be given more game time. I expect a number of players to move on. Hurst and, remarkably, Neill are chasing full-time football. I would have liked Hurst to stay on but you have to admire his ambition. Connor Duthie too is looking for a full-time gig – I won’t lose too much sleep over his departure because he always overcomplicated everything and would run himself into cul-de-sacs. Ruaridh Donaldson will apparently leave the club to take up a job in London – a shame, as he’s been a good player over the last two years. The youngsters in on loan will return to their parent clubs while the rest will probably move, players like Reid, Sean Dickson, Ryan Watters and Mark Ferry (although I imagine he’ll be kept around in some capacity). A damn shame all in. It’s the hope that kills you, isn’t it.

  43. Exactly. It's quite obvious on current polling that the SNP will win seats 1, 2 & 3 under D'Hondt Seat 4 will go to Labour Seat 5 may go to the Conservatives or to the Brexit Party, depending on how many brexieteer loonies switch from Con to Brex. It's unlikely that both can win a seat unless the SNP/Green vote is split. Seat 6 will go to the SNP if the Greens don't pick up too many Indy votes. Quite simply, if you believe in Indy, you should vote SNP if you believe that the SNP total vote will be more than the Green vote multiplied by 4. Otherwise, you risk the Greens getting 1 vote less than the losers of the Con/Brex/LD dogfight, and a 3rd Unionist MEP elected. It's quite clear that this is the scenario that the Sunday Mail is desperately trying to acheive. I'll look forward to voting for the Greens in an Independent Scotland, but until that day, I'll vote SNP.
