I don't even know where I stand anymore on the timing of a second referendum. All I know for certain is that the Unionists who want Sturgeon to chuck a grenade into Brexit right now are absolutely shiting themselves.

Sorry, I'm not following you. I think folk get a bit more excited about these things than is really warranted. Everyone who counts (Ayr, Smith & United) have known about the agreement since it was signed. If it was going to affect Smith's head then that would happen irrespective of whether anyone else knew. The fact that the contract is now public knowledge is only really of interest to bell-ends on the internet/in the stands.

The ideal football away day for me (and I suspect many others) is to jump on the train with a few cans, get to the town or city, go and grab something to eat, head to the pub, and then walk to the game, before doing the whole thing in reverse after the game. Jumping on shuttle buses for another 20 minute journey either side of the match is unappealing, particularly with the very likely prospect of having to queue for it after the game when everyone is trying to get back to the city centre at the same time. That is fundamentally why I consider it a pretty shit prospect compared to Pittodrie.

Agree completely with this. The UK's approach is work is becoming increasingly victorian. It's just greed from employers and governments. We work far too long; too many days and too many hours, and it's showing with a massive increase in folk with stress and other mental health issues, as well as so many people simply not being happy. I could easily do my work in half the time, with the odd occasions where things happen at the same time so it's busier for me than normal. But so many of us have to sit on our arse for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. That in itself isn't healthy, but it also drives resentment and kills productivity and creativity. It's just a slog for so many people, and they feel resentment because they have to sit on their arse for so long, unnecessarily, when they could be doing something they enjoy and spending time with family. We need to radically change the mentality when it comes to work in the UK.

Nope - the difference is that in Germany they see football fans as an asset and not scum, like they do over here. I went to a Hamburg game in March. Train to closest station to the stadium, as soon as you leave the station you were in a square where there were Hamburg fans drinking tinnies everywhere and getting food from many of the German sausage stands that were available. Then you walked about 5 minutes through a tunnel and onto a stadium bus, no questions asked or fares bought, and whisked away directly to the ground with no stops. Nice and easy. In Scotland they seem to make it as difficult or as complicated as possible to get to games - and with that there is sometimes no incentive to go to games. As I’ve said before, around McDiarmid there is f**k all to do and next to no boozers. If Aberdeen have a hope in hell of making this work, they have to get the transport right and make sure there are things to do around the new stadium - otherwise it’s going to be a miserable failure. I’m not optimistic for them in the slightest because this is Scotland and we don’t get these things right. Even MLS fans do a better job of it FFS.

A substantial percentage of fans who attend Pittodrie from both the City and ‘shire do not: drive to the game, watch the game, drive home from the game. Shaving 10 minutes off the commute is neither here nor there. They go for food. They go for beer. Before and after the game. Sometimes they will go for food and beer to avoid the “gridlock”; they wait it out over a few beers. Whatever is being said about the sprinkling of pubs (and I use the word in its broadest sense) in Westhill & Kingswells they will not be anywhere near adequate. In fact I imagine quite a few of them will positively deter ‘football types’ from crossing their threshold. Furthermore, if you think the atmosphere at Pittodrie is shite at the moment just wait until the drunks are replaced by the stone cold sober middle class ‘shire set and hillbillies (who’ll come along to see what the “shiny bright lights” are all about). I find the suggestion that a move to Pittodrie would bring in more complaints than this redeployment to the boondocks almost Twilight Zoney. If it was a move to Pittodrie it would be from Torry or Cattofield, wouldn’t it? Would that really be a bad thing (other than for the residents of Linksfield I suppose)? It wouldn’t be a move from Kingsford to Pittodrie, that is too ridiculous to even contemplate (until roughly 2030AD). The almost criminal neglect of Pittodrie has made this necessary. If in 1993, after the monstrosity that is the RDS was completed, the board-room incumbents had turned their attention to the rest of the ground (instead of pissing money away “because everyone else was doing it” and running up astounding losses and debt), by now the Dung Heap would be fit for purpose and this discussion wouldn’t be happening.
