I seem to remember a lot of folk on here saying, “make them pay for it” after it happened. That exactly what’s happened, plus a ban. It cannae be just me who thinks the the punishment is exactly proportionate to the crime? Make them to unpaid work at the stadium a particularly stupid suggestion. Aye, because the ground staff want absolutely fucking nothing more than babysitting two wee fannies who don’t want to be there for an extended period of time.13 points

I see this non-story is still hanging around on the BBC Scottish football page, and even has its own sidebar/link: Brechin City cancel Murder Mystery Evening due to 'lack of interest' https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47576088 In summary, a lower league club planned a small-scale event and not enough people were interested, so it was cancelled. It appears to be attempting a humorous angle, which completely falls flat and ends up apparently pointing and laughing at what was planned. Absolute rubbish from our state broadcaster.7 points

I am. But for more personal reasons. My Auntie (actually was a Dons fan) passed away last year and was generous enough to leave me a wee bit of cash. She used to take me to the football a lot at Dens when I was wee, would sit in with me even if we were playing Aberdeen. The first win I ever saw was a 2-0 win over the sheep with Tom Cowan scoring a belter. Anyway, I’ve never had a season ticket and when I found out about the money I decided that it would be good to get one to honour that time we had together. Football is about more than just the matches and the time we spent at Dens or on away trips and chatting about it I’ll always cherish so that’s why I’m getting one. Seems fitting. If this wasn’t the case though there’s not a chance I’d be getting one!7 points

He made the argument that “Jews build things and Arabs prefer to live in sewage” which might be a rapidly normalising view for the far-right but is still to most normal people a fucking racist view.5 points

Economically - lost 10% value of currency overnight- not recovered to pre result levels. Large number of job losses= reduced exports. Industry and financial sector moving to EU, even businesses owned by fcuking brexit campaigners are leaving ffs. Recession forecast. Slowest growing g7 economy. Lack of inward foreign investment. Politically/culturally- loss of eu migrants who contribute to our economy, including doctors, care staff and manual workers. The rise of the extreme right buoyed by brexit. Increase in hate crime in many areas of the UK. Unemployment forecast to rise even further and no contingency being made. Government incapable of consensus dominated by extremists. Government incapable of planning, see the ferry scandal and lack of contingency for medicines and cancer treatment materials post brexit. Economically fucked, getting worse if it happens and culturally and politically fucking bankrupt. But aye its ok because it’s not impacted you.5 points

Gerrard's "We're a class above Aberdeen" remark at the start of the season, followed by three defeats in Glasgow to them, including being fucked out of both cups. Absolute peak banter years stuff there5 points

I hope so, but it'll be very interesting to see how things go from now on. Hopefully we see folk like Marie Macklin, who wasn't short of a soundbite or two during MJ's time, step up with the investment that was promised. I won't hold my breath for that one. Great work has been done lately to reunite the different factions, but it'll take a while to see if those divisions are set in far too deeply to ever recover from. Fingers crossed though.4 points

I'm no conspiracy theorist but I think Youtube use has a lot to do with the normalisaiton of dissident views. I think young, inquisitive men are being brought round to these ideas on a slippery slope. There's an angst amongst a proportion of guys and it's being let by quasi-intellectuals framing debates against "SJW" and "radical feminists" etc. There are all these buzzwords out there now that people discuss online but rarely, if ever, offline. You watch one Jordan Peterson video and you're bombarded with more and more. Logical arguments are made against narrow, extreme feminist-gender ideology which leads normal guys down a path of starting to question whether inequalities exist at all. Their life isn't easy and they're a guy. Isn't it funny to see these "woke" people brought down a peg or two back to REALITY. Then you start questioning the whole mantra of progressive thought and, helpfully, there's a Ben Shapiro video waving at you debating some pink haired boy about Healthcare. You're then drawn to some issue about the A word. There's actual representatives discussing the killing of children without the rights of the father. 9 times out of ten these channels flash more videos about other **TAKE DOWNS of SJW types!!! ** about immigration, gender paygap or something else of that ilk. All of a sudden you've got Rebel media and conservative talk shows on your recommended watch panel whenever you open up Youtube. They start to become you're point of reference rather than the BBC or other "establishment" means of getting news. All of this is to consider alternative media as a great saviour of what people really think. I've been moved to write this as I've now had two conversations with friends in the last month who have verbatim given me Jordan Peterson arguments (i haven't pulled them up on it) and seem to have changed their political views; particularly on women. We're a group of pals that are not massively political. I've sensed guys who maybe share a flat, maybe still not got a settle relationship sit on youtube more than they should and this can be the result. They start to become more open to points of view they'd never have considered previously. As I say as a group we are not massivley political; when asked who are the feminists making the outrageous comments, they don't know any. It's all online. If they discussed it with their girl pals they'd find nuanced views. I don't think it's a conspiracy, I just think the algorithms and alternative media are come together in a way that can produce this. I think you could do a whole study on this.4 points

There is absolutely no need for TJ to still be in a job at the end of this. I understand that it might give some short term benefit that by giving him a job inside the pyramid it will temporarily stop his self-preservation but it just makes thing worse long-term. We got David Langmuir out when the SFL and SPL merged, there's no reason why TJ can't fall on his sword as well.3 points

Fundraising for lights at this moment. The rest of the ground is up to license standard. You dont' think were doing this for nothing, if we are forced into the pyramid then we are going to the top and not just the LL. We don't like the idea but unlike many on here who will be forced to watch their team play similar Dog & Dog FC's. If Auchinleck Talbot's in it. Then their going to win it. Have a nice night.3 points

Sane folk up here generally voted yes, and remain. Your continued attempts to equate these two entirely different political agendas is to the detriment of your high moral standing on these threads.3 points

There's a lot of typing involved in "factionalists and secessionists". Why not just type "britnats" instead? It's easier, shorter and synonymous.3 points

I think with the club doing a pitch inspection so early that it's just to confirm game is off as you can't postpone a match until morning of the game which tbh I find a ridiculous rule as if everyone knows the pitch is unplayable then just call it.3 points

New astro and everything else that goes with that, ie. Fencing, lighting, etc.. Plus, I think there may be a new enclosure being erected. It's part of the Dundee East hub that incorporates Broughty Athletic, Broughty Utd boys and amateurs, and Ferry Athletic. So the place will be well used.3 points

And not for nothing, but if you subscribe entirely to the help your own philosophy then it should be noted that spending money on trying to bring people out of poverty in countries like Pakistan, to try and give vulnerable people more of a life worth living then this is: 1. A good way or preventing radicalisation against Western values, and hence a lower probability of them acting out violently against the West 2. A good way of eventually expanding those countries useful workforces, growing theirs and our economies into the bargain. Besides the point that, you know it's the right and humane thing to do.3 points

Our "help" should probably go to all the countries we nicked stuff from during the Empire years tbh.3 points

Ask and you shall receive... As an aside, btw, big ups to the drummer here, absolutely on point. Told this story about a hundred times, but during the Ibrox game I was living in Dundee on my pal's sofa after some... unpleasantness as I burned my way out of my previous relationship. I was dog sitting a pair of miniature dachshunds as my pal and his partner were out for the evening, and appeared through the door as the third went in and I went fucking berserk, the dugs went fucking mental and they found all three of us running round the living room like absolute crackpots.3 points

The only "negative" about the play off at Ibrox was Ainsworth missing that sitter. 4-0 up and Ibrox would have been deserted. I mean fucking empty barring our corner. I think that would have been the greatest thing ever. I don't think a Celtic or Rangers fan could understand the feelings that two legged affair gave us.3 points

'Let's bullshit our way through until we need to cobble together another solution for the higher tier' is not actually a credible plan. The place for Tayside clubs is quite clearly alongside those in Angus and Aberdeenshire to form a credible feeder to the HL instead of playing the likes of Tweedmouth just to replicate the boundaries of a failed Junior setup.2 points

Hi chaps, I was up at the game on Saturday and thought I'd share my blog with you: https://jaygolds.wordpress.com/2019/03/13/the-2018-19-scottish-awayday-berwick-rangers/ Includes meeting club legend Eric Tait. We do a Scottish game a season, and had a cracking day visiting Berwick. I know it's tough times at present, but really hope you stay up and enjoy better fortunes next season.2 points
