  4. Darian McKinnon is the thickest c**t to ever have played Scottish football, which takes some doing. I can handle the abuse, apart fae that day obviously when I couldny handle it, but I've got a wife and weans tae feed and the Dundee fans wanted ma career ower, so obviously the best thing for me tae dae tae continue tae support ma family would've been tae jump intae the Dundee end and get ripped limb fae limb. "See that day, if I could have got back up, I was going in. I'd lost the plot," the Hamilton Academical midfielder says. If I know my Derry brethren well, and he thinks that was harsh abuse, I suspect he is in for a shock on his next visit to Dens.

  12. Ok Not withstanding all the BT lies over the EU, jobs , defence, pensions, currency etc and on and on and on.......just concentrating on "the vow" "The vow" as in the article published in the DR was a carefully drafted document promising a timetable on the delivery of something. No one could say at the time what that something was and still can't. The 3 main UK party leaders each had different views on the levels of devolution implied by the vow. The tories were in power so it was the wishiest washiest version that they put forward as per the Smith commission. In addition, the whole "lead the Uk not leave the UK" mantra was blown out the water the day after the referendum, when the tories introduced EVEL and thus made all Scots constituencies 2nd class, in respect of UK wide elections. Since then EU powers being repatriated to Westminster and a refusal to devolve certain taxes has meant the respective weakening of Holyrood in relation to Westminster. One can only imagine with the growth of the Scottish office under the tories this trend of quietly stripping Holyrood of power, will continue. The genius of the vow was that it was worded so that the gullible thought they were getting something rock solid: "the most powerful devolved govt in the world."....lol The reality is that it was an empty shell. Its not a case of the vow not being delivered. Its a case that nothing was ever vowed. A nice little con.

  14. Montrose Roselea isn't the best example as the actively chose on their own accord to move from the SJFA East Region and enter the SJFA North Region. Their first season in the North Region saw them enter the First Division (West) and regularly compete in towns that have Highland League representatives. Most suggestions I see for Tier 6 under the Highland League is for the North Caledonian League, North Super League and a Tayside Super League. Those leagues basically exist already apart from the Tayside Super League, although their are proposals in the East Region for a 18 team Super League North or a 10 team Super League North with a Premier League North below. So they are some that are open to playing in a purely Tayside league. The only trips North of Inverness would be if a Dundee club is promoted to the Highland League that still has both Brora Rangers and Wick Academy. That's 2/34 league games. The SJFA Scottish Cup can do far worse. The only national leagues in Scotland are the four divisions of the SPFL. Nobody is suggesting creating extra national leagues, except for the SPFL of course. One of the reasons that East Region clubs moved to the EoS and into the pyramid was because they were losing players to the Lowland League. You can probably look at the squad lists for the likes of BSC Glasgow, East Kilbride and others that would otherwise be playing West Region junior football. So there's that. Then you look at how East Kilbride FC and Cumbernauld Colts are arguably bigger sides now than East Kilbride Thistle and Cumbernauld United. The West Region outside the pyramid would allow for them to be overtaken by others. The Lowland League will also evolve to being the SuperDuperLeague that TJ dreamed of, with the odd former EoS/SPFL club thrown in. Nobody is putting those two clubs in the same league unless they are good enough for Highland League football. So if it happens it's to the benefit of the towns of Montrose and Halkirk for having sides good enough to rise that high.

  16. It would make sense, you'd think, to not have a recruitment strategy based around one system...right? Again, I know I've said this before, but it's also the reason I'm quite happy to have Robinson at Fir Park. Making mistakes, learning and rectifying them is ideal. I wouldn't imagine he'd be picking up guys as specific as he did this summer; Mbulu to replace Kipre, ATS as wing-back, Johnson as a goal-scorer next to a target man. FWIW, as well, I don't think a return to 3-5-2, with Cadden and Tait as wingbacks, Gorrin, Campbell and Turnbull in midfield, with Hastie and Main up top would be a disaster for us either. The problems arise when we try and figure out a third centre-half beside Dunne and Aldred. I'd say that the biggest problem of that system was that we didn't have bodies in midfield as capable on the ball as Turnbull and ARG now are. Those two instead of Rose and McHugh have made an incredible difference, and their ability, coupled with Dunne's pace would allow us to play higher up the park, I think. Again, that's heavily predicated on us having all those players, which we don't, and probably wont in six months time. And that we'd want to do it, which we probably don't. Thanks for attending my TEDtalk on stuff that doesn't matter.

  17. None - why would they, its not as if the clubs are being liquidated. A clubs history will still be there, all that is changing is moving from the minor leagues to the senior pyramid.

  19. All teams have 10 games left, so we all have to play the rest of the league. 6/10 at home should be an advantage. Earlier in the season I wasn't sure Broadwood was an advantage, but recently we've pulled a few results out the well at home. We've beaten every one of these teams in the last 3 months or so and I think these teams will be more nervous about playing us than we are playing them! We have P/head at home and so do Edin City so P/h might have a tougher run in. The dream is still on and with Thistle's distraction of a cup replay, there's the tantalising hope of meeting them on league business next season! Believe in The Bully Wee

  22. Is this the beginning of the end for the East Juniors as we know them? Glenrothes probably fancy games against Inverkeithing, Oakley, Burntisland and maybe Crossgates next year. Rosyth most likely to feel the same, Star Hearts have no historic attachment to the juniors. Thornton, Kirkcaldy, Lochore will surely follow as they're all in the same neck of the woods. As we saw last year, it's mainly about geography, especially for the smaller clubs. With Fife gone that will snooker the ERJFAs plan for a reshuffle to keep disgruntled WL clubs happy, so Fauldhouse will go, then it's domino effect time in WL too. Whats left of the East region may become the Tayside league that the PWG has been talking about. This paves the way for all the remaining juniors to enter the pyramid as one block, at least administratively. North may join too, but promotion and relegation to HL may not come straight away. This would all mean the most difficult part of the pyramid conundrum is largely solved. One question is where will Newbourgh and Tayport play? Are they more "Tayside" than "Fife" ? Might the HL/LL dividing line be adjusted for them?

  23. A lot of judgemental folk here. Some people enjoy working themselves hard and climbing to high paying jobs that take up a lot of their life, some enjoy working their hours and spending their time outside of work, There isn't really a right answer other than to not let yourself be exploited if you can.

  26. No its not. Bonnyrigg are still the exact same club that won the most East Superleague titles, there isnt a Rose 2018 club that has been formed or a The Rose who are claiming the Junior history. Its still exactly the same club, trying to claim they are not the same club is desperate poor stuff.

  31. Very surprised at the general consensus on last night's episode, thought it was much better than last week and had some classic Alan moments, pocketing the After Eight, constantly pointing out the nepotism of the 'Dan Snow' character and his general smugness towards the end. I really enjoyed it and look forward to next week

  34. MacKinnon has potentially ended Henvey's livelihood at any decent level (He was breaking into the team, had just scored and not been seen since that day at first team level) yet he's greeting about a few Dundee fans abusing him for it. He really is 'no right in the heid' as he likes to point out throughout the article.

  37. Its not fair on Safranko or Clark. They are too far apart and theres no creativity in the team. Well, they arent showing any as the ball is either at the back or its launched up at Safranko. Ive been going on and on saying we need a second striker on the park. 4231 is not and has not worked for 4 years other than about 6 games under Mcnafortune. Other than that the football has really been mostly dreadful if we're honest. Levein and Houston kept it simple. Big solid defence, two spoilers in midfield, two wingers who could cross the ball and beat a man and a big guy for winning the headers and a wee guy feeding off him. Nothing fancy. Put the players in positions that suit them and keep it simple. The way Neilson is playing is without a game plan, unless its actually to piss about at the back then hoof it up the park after working the ball into an awkward position. Its fucking murder to watch and if it goes on we will most certainly be here for yet another season. If we were creating chances and playing attacking (not necessarily attractive) football id be less worried. The squad hes built should be good enough to win games in this league with a bit of room to spare. Thats not me being disrespectful to the teams in this league whatsoever, but weve got some players who id expect to be playing in the middle to bottom half of the premiership. Pawlett, Reynolds, Connelly, Clark and Safranko are all guys who i could see being useful players at that level. We just arent playing to any of their strengths. Thats whats concerning. Its been going on for weeks and i dont think we're going to see much in the way of change - I hope im wrong.

  40. Yes Senior football that last bastion of the landed gentry. I hate going to East Fife and Cowdenbeath and the locals spilling caviar all over the terraces. This romance about junior football being some kind of romanticised working class endeavour that no one else will understand is nonsense.
