  1. 8th place is realistic, 7th a possibility but at the end of the day avoiding relegation is the only thing that matters this season.

  2. As I think has already been mentioned, the long and the short of it is - regardless of who took issue with what and when - the most recent minutes make abundantly clear the EoSFL’s quite sensible opposition to a geographically overlapping league in the Pyramid. This is an opposition that is fair, clear and should be maintained. Changes to the game - ie the addition of new leagues ( the Juniors) - are as important as they are desirable, but these changes should not be made simply for expediencies sake or, worse still, for the sake of the continuation of a body with no realistic or necessary place in the future of the game. Why create a portion of the Pyramid in the east that, geographically, mirrors that which is already there? Why? I’m at a loss to be able to answer this question, other than it suits Ian Maxwell to keep Tom Johnston onside and reveals the man as another in a long list of those who care not a jot about doing the right thing, only the easy thing. The EoSFL’s reps have been wrongly criticised in this thread when I believe that they have been both consistent and correct - Tom Johnston and the SJFA quite simply shouldn’t be represented at a meeting (the PWG) dedicated to discussing the interaction of leagues in the current and projected Pyramid, only the ERSJFA, the NRSJFA and the WRSJFA should. They are all represented by this one man simply for the preservation of this one mans job. Sadly, there’s probably no coincidence that Ian Maxwell and Tom Johnston each have an office not so very far separated along a reasonably short corridor at our National Stadium. Everyone else represented at the PWG have no such office. Go figure what’s being said during the coffee breaks at Hampden Park.

  3. WOT. He only started getting a game for us after Docherty heidered Carswell and was banished to the bench (a situation that was terribly handled by Aitken in the end up). He started his first match for us on the 18th of March, racking up a grand total of 23 minutes game time prior to that. He also played in midfield for Ayr. I'm gobsmacked he's trying to take credit for the development of Ross McCrorie. The man has no shame.

  4. This is one of the points that should be driven home at these PWG meetings. To have two competitor leagues covering the same area trying to attract clubs to move from one to the other, or competing for new clubs is absolutely insane. That isn't a Pyramid, that's just a mess. How the CEO of the SFA cannot comprehend this beggars belief.

  6. The pitch is far better than our grass one and easily the best artificial one I've seen. That said, it's a bit of a sore one considering how much it cost, when you look at the squad we have assembled. It's the equivalent of moving into a 6 bed country house but living off Super Noodles and Kraft Cheesey Pasta.

  7. I keep seeing some fans banging on about how the inclusion of the ‘foreign’ teams has ruined ‘what was a perfectly good tournament’, was it though? I never really cared too much about the Challenge Cup. It was always nice to have a cup run of get an away day you don’t often get but that’s about it. Surely a trip watching your team in Wales, Ireland or England is something memorable. It’s a great trip for fans that won’t see their team play in Europe or in big national finals. Too many people telling lower league fans how this tournament has been ruined. FWIW the colts teams need to f**k off and the format (ie scheduling) needs sorted but it’s diferent. Give me a trip to Wales over Albion Rovers for the fifth time any day of the week. Oh and that Welsh team’s manager is a complete w****r.

  9. This season is getting to the business end when all will be decided, and Darvel leg end has Darvel all but clinched next seasons title, and are after the Talbot, listen even with Usain Bolt if you signed him along with the rest of your mercenaries, you'd need to catch the rest of championship teams before you get near Talbot, I'm sure they're bricking it already, let's see how this exciting season plays out before we start predicting next season, as a wise man once said better to keep mouth shut and let people think you're a fool, than open your mouth and prove them correct

  13. Very disappointed not to have taken the 3 points after being 2 goals up. If Slicks shot had gone in rather than hit the bar i don't think Glens would have come back from it. Personally i think it's the best game i have seen this season. 2 teams going at it from start to finish . At 2-0 up with about 15 to go Arthurlie gradually were pushed further and further back and the inevitable happened. I thought it was a great game to watch. After their comeback to deservedly take a point Glencairn are a sure thing to go up. Good luck to them and hopefully we can continue to get stronger and join them next season.

  15. So you don't want additional taxation but are happy for a tax on ill health because you can afford it. Textbook Tory logic. Plenty of people work, but would be unable to afford prescriptions. Minimum pricing isn't a tax btw. You need to stop reading the Daily Mail

  16. The latest shenanigans may seem on the surface like good old-fashioned dirty politics in smoke-filled rooms, with Maxwell and Johnston outmaneuvering the EoS guys (who do indeed seem somewhat dozy); but IMO it's worse than that - an SFA employee is quite clearly working in cahoots with a man representing non-members of the SFA with the sole aim of defecating on SFA members. I'd like to know why (though quite frankly, I'm already speculating).

  17. I think Andrew Renwick is absolutely spot on, there should be absolutely no differences in discipline procedures. If you see the eye watering sums paid out to Junior office bearers you begin to understand why they want to protect income. As for Laura Dougan, if this is a source of complaint from the other leagues then go and find resource, ask your CEO for resource. The SFA are the governing body and cant just pass off this issue to another body. Finally, TJ cant promise any rules changes will be accepted by his member clubs. He is just a paid employee of the clubs.

  19. The solution for the EOS is that the junior clubs within their footprint join their leagues. The boundary line is not a problem they have caused.

  21. Week 7 Update Two deaths this week. First up was Gordon Banks, an English League Cup winner with Leicester and Stoke in 1964 and 1972 respectively. He made a save in the 1970 World Cup, and achieved nothing else of note for his country. Obituary: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47196017 In all seriousness, pretty much every reaction to his death has reinforced that he was a good guy. He was picked three times by @Musketeer Gripweed, @The DA and @Ziggy, for 44 base points. As seen a few posts up, @50/50 Winner picked Ken Nordine, described on his Wikipedia page as "you may not know Ken Nordine by name or face, but you'll almost certainly recognize his voice." I've had a listen, and he's lost on me. Maybe it's because I'm not from Chicago like he is though, because there's as yet no qualifying obituary for him. The effect on the scores is this: 1. sparky88 3282. alta-pete 2973. Oooooft 2774. Ned Nederlander 2625. DBA 2366. chomp my root 2217. Bishop Briggs 2078. cdisaaccie, Lex, peasy23, The Naitch 140 9. 25. Folk saying results didn’t go our way today. Look at it this way- between 15.00hrs last weekend and 16.45hrs this weekend, we have gained; 2 points on Morton 3 points on queens 3 points on Alloa 3 points on Inverness I’d be more than happy for results to go against us like that every week

  31. Bit of a clusterfuck in the Cuneo-Pro Piacenza match in Serie C. To give a bit of background, none of the Pro Piacenza coaching staff or players have been paid for months and have walked out on the club. Something similar has happened to Matera, who also play in Serie C. Italian football rules state that if you don't turn up for 4 games, you get punted out the league. Pro Piacenza had not turned up for 3 games but turned up today with 7 youth players. Their new manager is their captain, who is 19 years old. At half time, it was Cuneo 16-0 Pro Piacenza. Also, the match was delayed for nearly an hour. Bizarre stuff all round.

  32. Again not for this apparent group. My take is the LL have no allegiance and will facilitate whatever is requested. This is a pure Eos v Sjfa battle. Sfa apparently in the sjfa camp while the current rulebook or constitution appears to be in the Eos camp. I hasten to add the eos in these minutes have never argued on the basis of something actually breaks the rules. As Burnie says minutes are just minutes. But what I present is better than what was out there before.
    3 points
  33. Burnie I totally agree with you. The sfa and no resource helps the sjfa keep its own model. Just another pointscore for tj. However as I say the LL or the SOS do not back up the EOS on this or indeed anything.

  35. Hi Folks. I attended yesterday's match a a neutral, and although the better side certainly won, it was hardly a Clyde performance to live long in the memory of the home support, I would suggest. That old cliche about playing poorly yet still winning was never more apt. 44. As much as I'm enjoying these mini meltdowns, the argument of "he had a window to sort this out" is absolute nonsense. McGlynn's inherited a shockingly assembled and unbalanced team, and he had the January window where you can only really get players that clubs desperately want out or some shite bonus loans from bigger clubs where the players you take on are always a gamble.
