  3. Was it not just October last year when Dunfermline brought him on at TFS for the last 5 mins and he nearly scored with a 20 yarder, then scored in the last minute and didn’t celebrate? He did more in an attacking sense in those 5 minutes than our entire team did in the whole 90 minutes. I think some of our support have lost any sense of perspective.....

  5. Does everything about Newell happen in absolute secrecy? Do they think that if his name is mentioned on Twitter too aggressively, he might get injured?

  6. I can't help but worry of the negative effect losing ATS will cause - Fir Park will be a much less enthusiastic place that's for sure.

  8. There is a difference between backing the manager and the manager being able to attract the correct players. Mind we've already lost out to Livi and publicly been offered a player that couldn't even play for us. We don't know what is going on behind the scenes, who McCall has spoken to and what the response has been like.

  10. Hippolyte scored, was playing well in his last appearance against QOS in a 3-2 win in December 2017 - I remember I was surprised at how much he looked up for it that day - until he got injured, taken off and was never seen again after he was shipped out by Hartley. The idea he 'downed tools' is a myth.

  11. Played purely as a winger, I would not be averse to Hippolyte coming back. Beggars cannot be choosers. Our wide options at the moment are pretty chronic.

  15. End of Vaughan’s season then, and another long spell on the injury table. Can’t believe this has happened again, beyond gutted for him. The worst luck I’ve known in my time following football.

  16. And suddenly one crappie signing and the pendulum swings that they're all crap and Partick are signing world beaters. Funny creatures football fans.

  18. I’ve been playing Lemmings a lot over the past few days. Loved this game back in the day (I had it on floppy disk!) and it still remains a brilliant game. It’s so beautifully made and the soundtrack (midi versions of tunes like ’10 Green Bottles’ and ‘She’ll Be Coming Round The Mountain When She Comes’) is delightful. The whole game is just so fun. Even the animations of Lemmings dying (falling to their deaths, being blown up, being crushed, drowning or being burnt alive!) are fun. A lovingly crafted game that is a delight to play. Some really taxing levels as well that are bordering on genius in their design. Game was made in Dundee, and I only discovered a few month ago that there are Lemmings statues in Dundee! I’d actually seen them loads of times before but usually passing on a bus and never realised what they were. Took a wee walk up a few weeks ago to see them up close.

  20. We've signed ten players and if we get the ones we're targeting over the next two days it will take our recruitment into the teens. That would suggest that substantial monies have indeed been made available. The hard part, as you allude to, is finding the quality needed at this time of year. RM has looked at what feels like dozens and dozens of players. Every time I went into the club in recent months there seemed to be new faces walking about. I don't know if we'll secure any more or when they'll happen but I do know it's not through lack of trying. And forwards are at the top of the "wanted" list.

  21. Feck your pyramid. According to Hearts were in the top tier already

  22. Jus to kill this one, nothing photographic has been done for the club today. It's possible something will happen tomorrow, and it's also possible that something will happen without my involvement if we secured a target who's not available to come to the stadium. Time will tell on both fronts.

  23. What winger isn’t inconsistent in the second tier of Scottish football?
    6 points
  24. I'm not so sure. If the WRJFA called an EGM to vote on all clubs moving as one into the pyramid, then I can see no reason why they would reject it, as absolutely nothing would change for almost every club. They would still be playing the same teams at the same level with the same finances. The only difference would be the top team in the top league would have the opportunity to get promoted to the Lowland League. That doesn't affect 62 of the current 63 West Region teams.

  25. The build up on social media to tonight’s game from the club, the trust, the fans and especially the SLO’s was absolutely fantastic. The whole flag reveal was brilliant, and the awareness they created surely got some extra bodies in the gate. Really made it feel like a special game, brilliant work.

  26. Exactly. A resignation or sacking would be bad for Lenny's career so he gets lawyers on the case to avoid it. A big tribunal case would be expensive and annoying for Hibs, and even if they win, they gain bugger all and lose in legal fees, so the decide the neatest way is to settle in a let's-save-face settlement that costs them less than whatever it would cost to actually sack Lenny. Both parties agree to say nice things about each other in the statement (and there's a bunch of nice things that they can say, to be fair), a bag of money changes hands, the size of which depends on how bad Lenny's infraction is, and what his contract would have said, and everyone goes on with their lives.

  30. Overall Houston was a good manager. The problem was that in the last couple of years he seemed to go for the easy signings rather than putting in the work to get better, and in the end his recruitment of the likes of Harris / Rankin / Craigen, never mind the new contracts for the likes of Shepherd, came home to roost. We liked Hartley at first because he offered a clearout of those who had already proven to be not good enough. He did well at this time last year but after his abysmal summer recruitment he simply had to go. We like McKinnon because he quickly recognised the poor players for what they were, has recruited ones who appear to be better, and most importantly of all - has the Morton fans in a state of continual apoplexy. That'll do for me.

  32. Sensible planning to give Turnbull a two-year extension. Would mean if he were to leave at the end of his contract in 2021, we'd be very well protected by compensation as he'd still only be 22.

  33. I was pretty happy with mckenna and Dixon to be honest which I think have been 2 good signings. I find it a pretty bizarre signing when a centre half was not what we needed. Unless of course Harrison is being punted and we needed someone for cover.

  34. Falkirk fans loved Hartley because he wasn't Houston. Now they love McKinnon because he's not Hartley. When McKinnon starts next season poorly, after revamping the squad once again in the summer, they'll love the next guy because he's not McKinnon. I think Ray should get the whole of next season, even if you go down (which I don't think you will) as he has plenty of experience in that league.

  35. When's the last time we had an enjoyable and successful season? Our first year up when we finished top 6 IMO. We played excellent football with the likes of Gary Irvine doing a fine job. Him and the likes of Willie Dyer will have been earning a hell of a lot less than most of the charlatans who've fucked off and are already forgotten. The season after with Stewart, Hemmings and Harkins was enjoyable and we never looked in any real danger, but I wouldn't deem it a success. The fact we finished in the bottom 6 with a team containing 2 player of the year candidates speaks volumes about how bad the defence was. The doon derby painted over a lot of cracks. Since then it's been absolute garbage and we're just replacing dud after dud and losing any sort of base to build on. The end of last season I would have happily started from afresh and it's now the exact same. United being a shambles has deflected against our own very obvious problems for ages and allowed too many in our support to develop a 'Well it could be worse' attitude whilst we've taken backward step after backward step until we're basically staring relegation in the face. We stayed up by the skin of our teeth last year and even if we do so again, there's nothng to suggest that we're moving forward. IMO we've not had a decent side to watch since 2015/2016 and like I said (IMO) can't really have deemed anything we've done in the league since 14/15. Our cup record speaks for itself. No wonder folk are miserable. TLDR - We are shite and have been heading this way for ages.

  36. Airdrie FFS. Not exactly a big step up is it? . Boy can do much better. From what I've seen I'd get him tied down on a "Jim McLean" style contract for at least 10 years.

  37. Lee Miller would be a very good signing especially given it's January, surely? Knows the league, still of a decent quality and different to what we have. He's a leader as well, we need as many of them as we can get.

  39. Iain Wilson is a cracking player guys, look after him. Big lurch might look a bit awkward with the ball at his feet but when he strides forward he ghosts past players. He's quite versatile to as he can play midfield, right back & he's even played centre back on occasion. He has some engine on him, will run all day, he was the scottish schools cross country champion. As Steve Clarke says, he will be a big player in our future All the best for the rest of the season........
