  1. Having taken photos of..... Just one signing..... yes? Just the one today aye. There's nothing else confirmed beyond that. I think you can safely assume there will be more, but the timing depends on agents picking up the phone and saying "we accept and we'll be in tomorrow / the day after" etc. You could reasonably speculate there may be departures too.

  2. Yet we still have the usual suspects in the Scottish media in full scale denial that the club were correct to fire the imposter Stubbs. OK has completely emptied the duds that Stubbs inflicted on us. He’s inherited the worst shambles you can imagine, and deserves credit for his bravery in clearing the decks. The very least he deserves is a chance to give it a go with his own signings.

  4. Couple of things: - There are a few rule changes this year. Some changes to the scoring of existing rules, some added, one dropped. The Solo/Duo points were changed to 50/25 to standardise all the bonuses. Except Unnatural Causes, which is still 30. This was partly to make it easier for me to have fewer bonus amounts to keep track of, partly to keep the scores close, partly to add an extra bonus for Solo Shots. In all honesty I had never really realised how many points each bonus was worth, so changing them was probably a bit arbitrary. - The SS bonus has gone from 30 to 50. If all 15 of your picks were SS and all hit you'd get an extra 300 points based on the old system. I've no idea what the average hit rate per player is, but I'd imagine if you had 15 hits and no Solo or Duo shots you'd win regardless. - While I should probably have drawn more attention to the changes I made, the OP from Spain I copied and adapted had references to rules from before 2018. The Nobel Peace Prize rule, for instance. I assumed everyone would have read the OP, but that was probably wrong too. - While I appreciate the support from everyone as well as the criticism, I am new to this. I don't want to get it wrong, and I'm hoping that these f**k ups in the opening weeks (I've still got no idea what I did with the counting on the Lewis pick tbf) are a better way of doing it than having it happen later in the year. This is partly why I wanted to make the whole process completely transparent and give you regular updates on a Sunday, which seem to have been received in the manner intended so far. - There's a lot of people posting in here who aren't playing. I hope I see you next year. And, last one, this is supposed to be fun. Everyone take a step away from your screen and remember that, please.

  5. That's cos we're in the money. The blue pound talks. It's amazing what you can afford when you don't have to pay Morton any compensation for their assets. * waves to Branchton while putting bait on the hook *

  12. Just caught up with The Sun's piece on Erskine. How can he claim that he was forced out of the club and in the same breath say he'd been ready to leave since Caldwell first came in? That soundbite doesn't doesn't suggest he was committed to the club. It would to have been to everyone's benefit if he'd admitted that he fancied one last crack at the 'big time' and allowed us all to move on.

  13. Got yourself a good one guys, he’s really unlucky not to have got more game time with us, when he has played he’s been very solid. Still a young lad, think he’s only 21 but he’s very athletic, strong and can get up and down the wing really well. Can also play centre back if you are struggling but he’s primarily a right back. Hope he does well, as I say I really like him, think he has a lot of potential.

  16. The big WL derby Fauldhouse v Whitburn apparently only drew around 100-120. Fauldhouse v Downfield apparently drew less than 50. That's Superleague. I want to see both Fauldhouse and Whitburn make the switch, better for their future than in a Tayside dominated league, same goes for the South Division clubs, some of whom don't fancy the Superleague anyway, so what's the point?

  18. The Lyons incident has proven what a difficult job the refs in this country have. Even with VAR there are still going to be arguments, because some fans just see what they want to see, and not what is actually right in front of them. It's hilarious, but worrying in equal measure, that anyone seriously thinks Brad Lyons was guilty of simulation in this incident.

  19. Dearie dearie me, the biggest home game in the history of Talbot against a local senior rival in their first ever competitve senior meeting versus attendances for tedious cup ties. Indeed lets close down the seniors as clearly they are nothing, apart from giving Talbot their biggest home attendance in years. Against whom would Talbot get that sort of attendance or coverage in the Junior ranks? You will be part of the senior pyramid either this July or next, embrace the future instead of making a c**t of yourself in the present.

  25. The Thistle da reaction has been something else. I sound like a broken record going on about the legends stuff, but the way the fanbase goes into hysteria every time a good servant to the club leaves is so over the top. Is the Caldwell/Erskine relationship any different to the Archie/Lawless one? Erskine hasn't been out worst player (or best) and without wishing to go down the Archie v Caldwell stuff it honestly feels like people view everything through such a narrow lense depending on who is involved. Those who've fucked up can never improve and those who have done well can never do wrong.

  27. Can only echo that. I always liked McMillan when he was in our u20s. Was unlikely to get in the team ahead of Tait or Cadden though and he was at the point where he really needed games. Hope he does a decent turn for Thistle.

  28. Absolutely. As an Irish guy said to me in October 2014. "All you had to do was put a fucking cross in a box, our people had to die to achieve it" I'll never understand why people don't want to be in charge of our own affairs

  29. It's actually quite pitiful how so many Scots can't cut the apron strings and move out of mommies house. Sooking on the English boaby and regularly bending over to receive 1 for the team is not what I thought Scotland stood for. Fucking embarrassing the way Scots are so fucking pitiful and subservient

  31. Demonstrably, since a junior team just beat the team at the top of our league. Doesnt mean every Talbot player is a shoe in for a pro contract though. If the Juniors was the missing link for us, even if we hadnt cottoned on, Scottish football at all levels would be rife with success stories of scouting the Juniors and unearthing gems, simce surely SOMEONE in football knows what the enlightened souls of P&B know? The reality of it is somewhat different.

  32. I’ve let the dust settle on Saturday before commenting but the result showed up our greatest weakness this season and Talbot exploited it really well. When a team sits in we struggle to break them down. Think Falkirk away or QoS at home as examples. To have any chance at breaking down a packed defence we need two things in my view – the triangle of Kerr, Moffat and Shankland who all have the vision and the understanding of each other to make something happen in a tight space and secondly we need wide men to beat their man and expose the opposition. On Saturday we had neither of these. Moore is very different to Shankland and his first move is to try and run in behind the defence, but apart from once in the first half, that space wasn’t there. While Docherty is a decent enough footballer, he plays much more laterally and at a slower pace than Kerr, who very often springs an attack with a quick ball forwards. Out wide, McDaid and Crawford weren’t beating their man, partly because the pitch was a bit narrower than normal but also because the defender was normally right up on them. McDaid in particular is much better with space to take his man on. I was surprised that it took so long to bring McGuffie on as he at least offers some ability to beat a man in a confined space. As a consequence of Talbot sitting in, we also allowed the pace of the game to drop. Ayr have been at their best when the pace of the game is high and the transition from defence to attack happens really quickly. The second goal at Tannadice is a great example. Rose wins the ball near halfway and we move it very quickly through the team and score. McCall was constantly urging them to up the tempo on Saturday but the players were unable to do so. If we can’t correct both of these issues, the games against Dundee United and ICT will be tough as both will presumably sit in and try and hit us on the break. It’s important we get Shankland back, not only for his goals but his all round game, the desire to win he brings and also the fact that defences worry when he is on the park and spaces open up elsewhere. Finally, it’s important that the fans support the team fully in both games. In what other world do people’s performances improve when the customers give them abuse as some Ayr fans seem prone to?

  33. For me it's all smoke and mirrors now. May is counting down the clock until the very last moment she can present her deal to parliament. Then it will be my deal or no deal. Basically blackmailing the Commons to vote for her deal or the utter chaos of no deal. The English don't want a People's vote and don't mind a No deal according to SKY polling last night. So I'm convinced we'll end up with May's deal or No deal. Nothing will change from now till then. Our only escape now is independence.

  36. Guessing... never ? Unis will have juggled games around over the years - maybe back in the day some were cancelled outright, it's possible. Doubt enough ever turned out for (old) Scotland Amateurs. EDIT: Modern players have gone soft anyway: third and final qualifier is 5pm on Friday 1st February so that gives them over 21 hours to get back from Bosnia to Perth... ... Headlines you thought you'd never see #123... East of Scotland League game cancelled as club have too many players called-up for the national team.

  39. That's a really decent signing for you guys. I was disappointed when we let him go, and he's the sort of player who'll compliment my boy Thomas Reilly really well. Let Reilly ping the passes about and dictate things, and Spencer will cover every blade of grass Astro going box-to-box. Sure his passing can be a bit stray, and sure he can be a bit rash when he's tackling, but I think he'll make a very good player at this level. He can be a goal threat too.

  40. Possilpark, Ruchazie, Ruchill, Royston off the top of my head. There are signs of light in Govanhill. There's some nice cafes and some fantastic, georgian houses not even 100 yards from the 'worst' of it. Queen's park terraces etc. Victoria road has loads of independent shops. I know there's a bad bit of Govanhill, i'm not naive, but a lot of it has been cleaned up and new pavementing put in. There's a beautiful park with class tennis courts on its doorstep. It's a stones throw from Strathbungo and Shawlands. The Possil has literally nothing going for it. Most of the north of Glasgow are total non-places with no character at all. There's only one of Possil or Govanhill that's even going to be attempted gentrified and it's not the one in the North.

  43. From Stubbs signings, that leaves Cody Cooke, Lee Hodson and Josh Heaton. With Hodson on loan from Rangers and Heaton away at Kidderminster (and probably won't be back) that's 1 permanent signing that has made it to January. Textbook how not to build a squad and an indication of what Kearney has had to deal with.

  44. What a load of pi** that is. Our Secretary called Camelon Secretary yesterday and asked if they would like us to help them in being re-instated back into the competition in our place. You play an inelidgible player in a competition then its a given you are out.

  45. Was at the game tonight, Dembele was excellent until his injury, but Messi is just another species altogether. That’s the fifth time I’ve seen him live and it’s just a different atmosphere when he has the ball to basically any other player on the planet, the excitement and electricity in the crowd is absolutely palpable. His assist and goal were fucking ridiculous. The GOAT, and it’s not even close!
