  4. Great atmosphere in the Market yesterday before kick off. Even we were completely outnumbered and it felt like an away day in our own pub you boys created a great atmosphere. Credit to you all. Good luck in the next round.[emoji106]

  8. Not at all mate just being realistic, optimistic if anything. Glensmad said he expected Bens to score a similar amount to the 9 they got against Girvan and we're in the habit of losing 9, title challengers at home to the bottom team who haven't got a single point. I'm not a player but if you offered me 3-0 I'd bite your hand off, a respectable score and realistically as much as we can hope for. And for the record, the players have done anything but throw the towel in in any of their games this season. Their attitude has been brilliant and they've kept going even in the face of repeated pumpings, the problem is ability and experience at this level, not their attitude.

  9. I took my 2 to Palmerston for the first time over the Christmas holidays. Alice was insistent that she was wearing her brother's old kit... Full kit, that is. Josh has now been to a few games, while that was Alice's first. They've both asked to go back, so they're well on the road to indoctrination

  10. Lyle is one of my favourite players of the last decade. I've never been a superfan of Dykes*. I wouldn't swap Dykes for Lyle if the opportunity presented itself though. Dykes has been excellent this season and will likely get his move next season. His technical ability has improved ten-fold this season (learning from Dobbie?) and I'm sure Dobbie is grateful he's there. Lyle and Dobbie never worked for me. Our system needs a runner up front and neither Dobbie or Lyle do that. Dykes isn't great in front of goal but I find it astounding that folk can't see what he brings to our side. *But I certainly don't dislike him either.

  12. Absolutely fantastic performance and result yesterday. The pressing was incredible and fitness levels must be the best in the league. Downside for me was sitting next to a section of complete balloons with a personal hatred towards Docherty that bordered on pathetic. One woman kept shouting 'shut yer puss Sparky' every time he spoke on the pitch (captain's role surely) went mad when Dowds went off saying it should have been Docherty (let's take a holding midfielder off for a striker at 1 all) and then cheered when he was subbed. Complete joke. People need to remember that this may be as good as it gets for us at the moment. 3rd in the league, cup runs, beating the Rovers home and away. What more do people want?

  13. Except in joining the pyramid more clubs would have the oppertunity to replicate Talbot via licensing. Licensing would also raise standards at clubs which can only be a good thing for a league (both facilities wise & off the pitch).

  16. Yeh that's a minter of a post. Talbot, what a great achievement but for an official junior club account to reply like that is embarrassing. Well done Auchinleck, a great day for a proud, superbly run club.

  18. Who gives a f**k if players don’t clap Fans want to pay X amount of money to go to a football game and then receive a round of a applause from the folk they were shouting at for 90 at the end of it. Football fans are plain weirdos.

  20. Our fans can take a f**k to themselves until they're bleeding to fucking death. Utter c***s who just nasty when the going gets tough on the park. Today wasn't Crawfords fault. Who's he supposed to play ahead of Devine? Durnan?!?! He came on and fucking sold the jerseys. Im Devine's biggest critic but he was absolutely solid until Ashcroft went off. Also, Higgy wasn't trying?! If you actually think that you're grade A idiot and I'd back up Higgy with that square go all the way. Soem of our support don't know SHIT about football and simply love being able to froth at the mouth because their pathetic little egos can't handle a shocking scoreline such as that.

  21. I've had a few communion wines so not only will I explain "quiz difference", I'll explain its history. Quiz Difference (QD) decreed that when two teams finished on equal points, the team with the highest scoring day would win ... if there was a draw, the team with the lowest score would lose .. and 2nd highest, 2nd lowest so on. New Quiz Difference (NQD) just went with highest score, 2nd highest score and so on. No idea why it was changed. Brand New Quiz Difference (BNQD) is the same as NQD except that if teams finish on equal points and one team has completed fewer games, then they will automatically finish lower. No idea why it was changed. And no. I didn't get my hole tonight.

  23. Couple of things: - There are a few rule changes this year. Some changes to the scoring of existing rules, some added, one dropped. The Solo/Duo points were changed to 50/25 to standardise all the bonuses. Except Unnatural Causes, which is still 30. This was partly to make it easier for me to have fewer bonus amounts to keep track of, partly to keep the scores close, partly to add an extra bonus for Solo Shots. In all honesty I had never really realised how many points each bonus was worth, so changing them was probably a bit arbitrary. - The SS bonus has gone from 30 to 50. If all 15 of your picks were SS and all hit you'd get an extra 300 points based on the old system. I've no idea what the average hit rate per player is, but I'd imagine if you had 15 hits and no Solo or Duo shots you'd win regardless. - While I should probably have drawn more attention to the changes I made, the OP from Spain I copied and adapted had references to rules from before 2018. The Nobel Peace Prize rule, for instance. I assumed everyone would have read the OP, but that was probably wrong too. - While I appreciate the support from everyone as well as the criticism, I am new to this. I don't want to get it wrong, and I'm hoping that these f**k ups in the opening weeks (I've still got no idea what I did with the counting on the Lewis pick tbf) are a better way of doing it than having it happen later in the year. This is partly why I wanted to make the whole process completely transparent and give you regular updates on a Sunday, which seem to have been received in the manner intended so far. - There's a lot of people posting in here who aren't playing. I hope I see you next year. And, last one, this is supposed to be fun. Everyone take a step away from your screen and remember that, please.

  24. A bit accusatory, Your Grace, intended or otherwise. The dead pool came within a bawhair of not running this year until Miguel's accepting the baton. That entitles him to some adjustments to the rules, imo.

  28. Anyway, yesterday bore so many hallmarks to the TNS game a couple of years ago. Cup game against a team of lower standing, losing on our own patch, hopelessly inept first half and really under the cosh. Then we pull a performance out of the bag from nowhere. The TNS game is widely accepted as the spur that galvanised the team into the form they hit in the second half of that season. I'm hoping the circumstances of the win yesterday has a similar effect on these guys. Next week to be exciting. We're in advanced talks with several players and hope to have 2 or 3 of those over the line in the first couple of days of next week according to OK. Tony Fitz saying to a supporter in 1877 club that the guys we're down the line with are two centre forwards, a centre half and a winger. Imagine one of the centre forwards is Connor Sammon if rumours are true.... Admittedly, I'm not as miffed at the prospect as I was now that I know we're in for two strikers rather than just one. The winger... please be Lewis Morgan. The centre half.... No idea what's going on there but there have been murmurings for a while that a certain league winning centre half isn't enjoying life at Grimsby. I think I'd self combust if Harry came back. Still desperately need a left back though. It concerns me that nothing has been said of how pressing this is. Ethan is a good player but he's at the stage where he's been roasted the last few games. I worry a bit for him at Parkhead.

  30. AGEING, UNEMPLOYED IMMIGRANT CAUSES HIGHWAY CARNAGE. Emergency services were scrambled to a road traffic accident near Sandringham today when a 97 year old Greek immigrant pulled out into oncoming traffic. The Greek father of four who has been living on state benefits since his arrival in the UK in 1947 and is housed in a Grade2 Jacobean style mansion in the area worth millions of pounds was unavailable for comment. Neighbours said "You often see the family in the area, none of them seem to work but they always have money". Another local resident reported often hearing firearms being discharged in the garden of 97 year olds home.

  32. I'm pleased with the draw partly because it should give us a good test without us being totally outclassed (I'd be seriously worried playing a team like Hibs or Aberdeen at the moment). Think we can be quietly confident going in to the game but also have no expectations of anything. I'm also delighted it wasn't someone like Rangers despite some fans on social media "desperate" to get them. We don't need the media frenzy or the pressure at the moment. The league is the only priority.

  33. This kind of thing happens all the time. Attacking player runs at speed in to a defender. 9 times out of 10 ref gives a foul to the attacker I’ve honestly never seen a foul given the other way, let alone get a yellow card. Those saying otherwise are at the wind up.

  35. Talbot are an exception to the rule. Over half the season played and they've only lost two matches, one of which was in the group stages of a competition they ended up winning anyway. They shouldn't be taken as an example of the health of the junior game. Even in the same league we have a club whose financial dealings with organised crime are casting doubt on their future, and another club who are having to move to a sports club next season in order to survive.

  39. I think the reaction of most of the Alloa players says it all. The defender thought he'd conceded the free kick and was a bit miffed. The team mates were starting to defensively get into position. It wasn't until the point where the ref pulls the yellow to Lyons that the Alloa players get up in arms at him. For the record, I don't think it was a foul but it wasnt a dive either. It was a nothing challenge in a relatively nothing area of the park. Correct decision would have been to wave play on and tell player to get up. As happens several times a game. As happened on several occasions yesterday for similar innocuous stuff.

  43. Don't think that's the case. The EoS are saying that they have a veto on any change because any change on pro/rel related to the Lowland League has to be agreed unanimously by all the parties that are already in the pyramid that are directly affected (i.e. LL, EoS and SoS). The EoS are saying that they would decide on any proposal on this either through their board or at their AGM but either way member clubs would be consulted.
