  1. No, funnily enough since we are in a free trade area and also have lots of free trade agreements through the EU, I don't. Ah, so that's why they've had to add a new lane to the motorway heading to Dover, talk about buying an old airfield, extend Operation Stack from the M2 to the M20 and M26, give out contracts for ships and ports to ease congension and the like? That's why it's not important to get a deal, since they'll get exactly the same checks as before? Or could it be that you're talking out your arse and that WTO rules don't just allow you to wave through freight at the port of entry? Ah, sorry, I just have missed the news about some of the biggest companies cracking teleportation technology. I just assumed you know since 4 million tonnes of freight are imported by truck into the UK, 98% of which is from the EU (28% of the total is from France alone) that some of that might be brought in by van, truck and lorry. Clearly the 90% of freight that is currently moved by road doesn't include medicines. After all, these are some of the biggest companies in the world. It's not as if the likes of Amazon, Ford, Samsung, or even GlaxoSmithKline use road freight to move their goods. Oh no, wait... Apart from that though, you seem to have a real grasp of the subject.

  7. They see genuine money making within a few years and that Scottish football is better financially than some suggest. The finance guy that was there last night said that every team in the top flight is currently making money or breaking even apart from Rangers. Tannadice can and will be improved over time and the match day experience will need to be looked at as the Managing Director sat amongst the fans on Saturday and said it needs overhauled. Money is available but Neilson said that moving players on is the hardest thing to do in football but that we are bringing more in. A group of unwanted are training at Gussie every day away from the first team. Gussie Park will be bought back within the next twelve months and the last loan, which is the security over Tannadice will also be paid. Ogren and his son will only be over every 6-8 weeks and the running of the club will be over to them. Asghar will be purely football and Brannigan business. Neilson and Asghar have known each other for a few years. Youth development and scouting need to be overhauled. Fans groups are going to more involved and the club will be more open. The sports bar should be open by the start of next season. Ticketing, merchandise and catering is all out sourced at the moment but will be brought back in-house as soon as possible. Also similar sound bites to the interviews today about history and future potential. No merger, no groundshare. Any questions about anything that people were interested in (that I might have forgotten about) just ask.

  10. We can’t exactly get 2 Liam Smiths now can we. I would suggest he’d probably get in Alloas, Morton’s and probably Falkirk. We need squad players, this season and next season and both Docherty and Ferguson fall into that bracket. Look at Rose, everyone wanted rid after the last relegation, hardly played and now one of the best centre backs in the league. There’s a reason we’re not football managers, although some on here like to think they are.

  11. This state of affairs is not exclusive to the Sons, but you make an excellent point. It's a vicious and never-ending circle that lower league part-time clubs have to contend with. Dumbarton's success in being in the Championship for so long was clearly masking a deeper set of problems which are manifesting itself now. That said, the horrendous personnel problems with the current squad would render any club dysfunctional. I really feel for all concerned and I have friends who are close the action, so to speak. It's difficult too for fans who want instant and continued success. A poor team reflects in attendances and more often than not the serial complainers don't go along anyway, save for the odd game which vindicates their bile. There is too an ironic expectation too from supporters to expect club officials to dig into their pockets (why?) and at the same time don't do likewise by going along to a game. Someone else can always do better, it appears.

  14. There have been several clear and concise - and very credible - suggestions on how, at a juncture where the SJFA at last want to emerge from the shadows and into the Pyramid, full and proper integration of our game can best take place and I've reproduced below a post from the end of October that I too would put forward as the most simple means of restructuring to accommodate this. Many have already said that the West and North Regions being placed directly into the Pyramid in their current form is a logical step and I would certainly endorse this. The much more difficult matter lies in the East. Here, a frank discussion between the ERSJFA (not the SJFA) and the EoSFL on the matter of full integration of their respective leagues is surely the only way to go to avoid what so many have correctly stated is the nonsense of two leagues overlapping in the same geographical area. It is even the contemplation of such a ridiculous overlap that further exemplifies why Scottish football has been so derided in its thinking over the years. Many have also highlighted the Highland/Lowland divide and the fact that its very existence calls into question the ERSJFA simply slotting in beside the EoSFL underneath the Lowland League due to the preponderance of Tayside clubs in it's top league who, as it currently stands and most likely will remain, are considered to be north of the Highland/Lowland dividing line. Discussion too must be had about these clubs moving north and balancing the lower tiers of the Pyramid. It is surely not beyond the wit of man for this to happen in a properly thought out and structured manner to avoid the crazy notion of overlap that some seem to entertain. I for one believe that the EoSFL showed sufficient leadership last year in absorbing so many east Junior sides to be entrusted again to ensure proper balance is brought to the PWG table and a proper merger in the east can be achieved under their auspices - whether that be by accepting applicants from the east Juniors again this coming close season or by partnering the ERSJFA in a properly negotiated merger. The EoSFL board are men who have earned the trust of many to make this work.

  17. If you dug a little deeper I suspect that many of those who say immigration is a problem don't mean white East Europeans - they mean Asian or Afro-Caribbean. And dig even deeper you'll find that the "immigrants" they are talking about aren't even immigrants but second and third generation Asians and Afro-Caribbeans.

  20. I think McGee has went massively down hill since joining falkirk. When he first signed I thought falkirk were lucky to have him and he looked a class above. Now I think he just looks like any other championship centre half, he constantly gives possession away putting pressure on an already shite defence.

Have cut down on portion size which has been the hardest thing thus far. Currently at 16stone 9, and looking to get to 13.5 by August.

  34. A ‘pick up artist’ failing to pull on NYE, pretty poor show from him tbh. jamamafegan used to have the best ‘pick up’ technique: 1. Approach female 2. Find out which town in Scotland they are from 3. Ask them if the support that town’s football club e.g. ‘You’re from Kirkcaldy? Are you a regular at Starks Park then?’ Works on approximately 0/1000 birds.

  37. We had the situation where both Bathgate Thistle and Pumpherston declined a Superleague place in the close season when the ERJFA re-organised the leagues, presumably due to it's Tayside top heavyness, now the latter is walking the South Division but nothing will have changed Superleague wise, will they decline again? It's a mess frankly and it's time they realised the only solution is to start talking to the EoS about a merger. At the very least, the WL and Fife clubs should be taking a long hard look at where the future lies, those in the District leagues can retain tier 7 status next season in the EoS. Guaranteed.

  39. I agree it's give and take for the SJFA. Give: agree that the EOS is the only route into the LL for clubs in the east, south of the Tay. Remaining ERJFA can join the EOS, or even bolt on below the EOS. Take: juniors everywhere else (including Tayside) get in from tier 6. Simple and reasonable.
