  1. It’s scary reading some of the utter drivel spouted on these pages after 1 bad result. We were missing 4 key players yesterday including our best player. Kerr clearly wasn’t fit either and judging by McCalls comments only started because Docherty was struggling with a hamstring strain. Last time I checked we were 3 points off the top with a game in hand. Rising expectations is a good thing, but is no justification for some of the heads gone lack of perspective. Comments about a lack of ambition are embarrassing and nothing but pure ignorance. Reverting to part time after the Barr era blighted the club for a decade. But through good stewardship and management we stepped back to full time football 18 months ago which has been transformational for the club. We currently have 3 Scotland under 21s playing for us. When did that last (ever) happen? We’ve also spent the last year watching the best striker the club has had in over 40 years. How we retained him in the Summer is beyond me, but it certainly wasn’t a lack of ambition from the club that persuaded him to stay. Murdoch and Smith have also been outstanding additions who would never have signed for us on part time terms. Cameron is on record as saying he will try to find money for signings in January if we’re still in the hunt. His record as chairman demonstrates that we can trust what he says, whatever the ups and downs. My suspicion is that the club is mostly focussed on resolving the Shankland situation one way or another. Our Achilles heel at the moment is a lack of quality in the wide areas. I’m sure McCall is fully aware of that and will try to address it. Also worth commenting on the crowd. 2200 home fans yesterday. That’s not far off a 50% uplift on where we were 3 or 4 seasons ago and takes us back to attendance figures we haven’t seen since the late 90s. In summary, there are a few who need to get a f***** grip.

  3. Yeah I'm sure if Morelos signed a PCA with Celtic, then went to Twitter to announce it, signing off with #HH and #celticfamily, before hitting up an Irish bar singing You'll Never Walk Alone, you and your merry band of webbed-footed mouth-breathers would accept this as 'his right to leave'. You are a complete scrotum.

  4. Happy 150th Birthday. In true Off the Ball style: What does Killie mean to me? A bowling green of a pitch Memories of the old scoreboard Going to see if I could get a second pie and missing Ian Little's winner for Meadowbank- won 3-2 after being 2-1 down.. Being at THAT match: Meadowbank 1 Kilmarnock 8... and, no, you can't buy my programme Fat Bob Reilly... Killie Ken fanzine - used to buy the odd copy now and again because it was a decent read. I was a teenage scarf collector. I bought a very nice Kilmarnock scarf from the club shop which was plain blue with the badge embroidered on it. My sister kept stealing it. No interest in football but she liked the colour. I ended up having to buy her a plain blue scarf in the end. Watching Kilmarnock win the Scottish Cup on the TV in the Stirling Uni Sports Bar. I remember a frustrated Falkirk fan shouting "F*ck this family Final shite! Get stuck into thae Killie b*****ds!" Getting sunburned at various Junior Cup finals at Rugby Park. Mostly involving Talbot playing at an incredibly neutral venue just up the road from Auchinleck... mind you, the last time I went to the Final at Rugby Park Talbot suffered a rare loss. I'd love it, love it if you could win the league this year. And here's to the 300th Anniversary...!

  8. That seems unlikely. We were interested in him during the summer; I think Paul Hartley admitted that at one of the fans forums. There was also interest from other Scottish Championships clubs. Andy still has friendships with people at FFC and keeps in touch with them. One of those folk told me back in July that he didn't want to go on loan to any club who would be playing against Falkirk.

  9. Poor, poor ‘Billy Big Time’ stuff here that you would hate if it was directed against you from an SPFL club. Camelon aren’t as well supported as your team (at this level, not many are!) but, relatively speaking, are a well supported team at Tier 6. I was at the game as a neutral and, although I wasn’t even thinking about counting, there was comfortably more than the 30 you mention supporting the visitors. Comfortably.

  10. You're in luck! Since it's the first Sunday of the year, it's the first scoring update of the year! There are no scores to update. But, something that I always found slightly underwhelming in previous Dead Pool years was not knowing how many points a hit got me. As a perma-diddy, when someone I picked died I expected better. Then I'd look at the updated totals and I'd be in 60th or something. Now, to go along with the standings whenever the first deaths come in, you can check yours and everyone else's scores, whenever you want. SCORING SPREADSHEET: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1NlaNlT-7ZGlQGqszGFfBb49tVzFpWITUAR7BUjApJUc/edit?usp=sharing You can view this at any time. You can download it in various formats (.xslx, .ods, .csv, .pdf) and you can see how many points your picks get you. This should work on phone and desktop. It's now on the first page, and will be updated every Sunday.

  11. Good for them if they do. If I was a fan of a mid-table premier club and they fielded a weakened team I`d be pissed off. Leicester have done it recently in both cups despite being absolutely safe in terms of league position. It`s pathetic.

  12. Calm it sweet cheeks. It's a thread about the future of junior football. You've still to explain the benefits of staying with the current disjointed system. The way things are going is certainly not optimal but why not try to explain your thoughts in human readable terms rather than in spittle-flecked, tear-stained and buckfast-fueled rants. xox

  13. Popped down to the Rock yesterday to see what all the fuss is about relating to DFCs woes. I have to say that just how the Sons didn't win against Forfar is beyond me, given the amount of pressure and effort that went into attacking. A striker who is clinical is what's required. Loved the pre match entertainment too.

  23. Just back from Inverness What a performance. Our back line are so strong now and its a shame Callum Semple has left. The young man has formed 2 partnerships first with Doyle and now with Fordyce They both played so well and can you imagine how it was to see our 2 Wing Backs in the opposing area and getting the goal that put us back in the game. 2500 in the ground and our 200 ish out shouted the opposition completely You can see in the celebrations how much the players appreciate the great support

  24. To be honest I wouldn’t really want to recount the stuff I’ve heard anywhere, let’s just say it involves ‘dirty pints’. If it is true then I would want anyone who behaved like that out of the club, regardless of whether they were as pish as Curran or not. Just goes to show the kind of nonsense players have been allowed to get away with up to this point. I think that’s part of why we’ve seen the levels of anger and disdain from Neilson. He’s probably been gradually finding out what some of these twats have been up to. Rooting out the bad weeds and turning around the culture that allowed them to operate like that will take time.

  27. ...603 at Lithgae vs Camelon yesterday and that's not the biggest nonleague fixture that the wider Falkirk area has to offer before you even start to get into some of the possibilities in the west. Give it a few years and a spurt of floodlight installations where necessary and it doesn't have to be so rare. The LL is going to go from strength to strength in the years ahead and shouldn't be viewed as some desolate wasteland where relegated SPFL clubs go to die.

  28. Bookies dont usually get it wrong East Kilbride at 9/4 we’re favourites due to their strong experienced squad, we were 4-1 playing in an alien league with new grounds . A top 4 finish from the outset was our target for the management and players, the boys are on course for that. We lost a successful manager at his own request, we appointed a high profile manager who is hungry to succeed. The landscape completely changed for us from those 2 situations almost over night. Kelty will always be a scalp same as EK and Spartans but possibly even more now given the management team. Getting to the SPFL is very competitive given the odds on winning the league and then the play offs. Any reconstruction could obviously change that. We know where we are, we have a clear plan in what we need to do and we know how long it will take. We are also happy to take a bit flak for every draw or defeat from some who like to dish that kind of stuff out on a forum or social media. Not my style personally but we are all different I suppose. As a club we will always look to improve on and off the pitch at all times and we like to think we know what we are doing, I’m sure on and off the pitch the last decade backs that up.

  30. That "Forza Papac" Rangers cheeky chappy banter account has shat it and protected his account after posting a tasteless "comedy" picture of Jay Beattie. These shite Old Firm "funny guy" accounts are probably my least favourite type of accounts on there. Unbelievably inane average patter but have thousands of followers because a sizeable proportion of Old Firm fans are brain donors. The lad Gregco is probably the worst example of it, 5/10 patter but eulogised by the orcs. Scratch far enough with any of these folk and they're revealed to be scumbags.

  32. A fantastic result up in Inverness yesterday which hopefully will help lift the spirits of the doom and gloom merchants. But aside from this result I think it is worth reading about the work the Community Team put in behind the scenes to promote our fantastic club (report on OS). What Dan and the rest of the team do every week working in the community with young and old sometimes goes unnoticed but it is nevertheless and important part of what Queen of the South are about. Well done to all involved.

  33. This might sound like some made up shite or it may not seem as mad as it seems written down as it was to witness. Either way: I took the boys to see the Spiderman film last night. About 30 minutes in the lights turned on but the film kept running. There was a bit of drama behind us and apparently a guy was having a seizure of some sort so someone in his group was on the phone to the emergency services. A minute later and he was out for the count and snoring. The film got paused at this point and the manager came in and apologised to everyone. A couple of minutes passed - with one of my boys hilariously quipping that he was probably bitten by a spider - and he started coming round but was clearly disorientated and didn't have a fucking clue where he was. He then proceeds to start walking all over the place over the seats in the cinema in no particular direction and ends up falling face first and getting straight up. Boy looked like he was on salvia or flakka or something - he genuinely looked like a zombie (the ones in horror films, not a Sevconian). At this point a guy up the back tries to calm him but he started becoming agitated so I went up to help out but the guy starts swinging for me and tried to grab me by the throat. At this point I lift up my t-shirt to reveal a Balotelli style 'WHY ALWAYS ME' t-shirt underneath. That part didn't happen. Anyway, his wife shouts at the other guy attempting to help and myself to "leave him alone" so we stand back and watch his mad antics continue, waiting on him to crack his head open on a chair or fall off the side into the walkway. Anyhow, everyone got told to leave the theatre and give the guy some space. We were stood outside in the foyer for 15-20 minutes while the medics arrived and tried to sort him out. After this we were offered free tickets to return at a later date or we could watch where we left off. We opted for the latter but not before I had got us a free drink and popcorn for our inconvenience. I could probably just have written 'Saw a mad c**t walking all over the seats at the pictures last night' and saved myself the hassle of writing all that.

  34. No one is claiming that’s why we lost, I believe they’re confused as to why Beaton saw the incidents at the time and didn’t see them worthy of action. A kick out at a player, a stamp on another’s back and a grab at the balls, (didn’t Mclean of hearts get a 2 game ban for the same thing?) all committed by the same individual yet no action at the time and nothing retrospectively. Are they saying it ok to do this?

  37. The red cards were very weak, i also agree ref was poor as av said several times and also stated i do not blame only starky for the defeat. You 100% right eddie got a stupid booking too. I mentioned stark in particular because in my opinion a very large portion of his bookings are avoidable and for me its a pattern with him. Eddie i am not sure about, i dont know what his discipline was like before he joined the club and only time will time if he is the same, altho he was one of the two that walked against glencairn, a match the roch should of won but went down to 9 men again and ended a draw. Bens were there for the taking yesterday and its just frustrating losing the 3 points when you are infront and in control. There are no set amount of cards that says discipline is bad or good, in some peoples opinion what might be bad might not be bad in somebody else’s. In mine it is. When you lose points because of it and players coming in for players who have been red carded and then get red carded themselves that is not ideal, just as dan man said about griff seeing at at Rossvale. Last time at Rossvale it was 2 reds again, luckily it did not cost us. As Ringford10 said, play for the team not the crowd and i feel thats how it is sometimes. Before Daw went off yesterday, during the match he was conversing with crowd on some decisions, never mind the crowd just keep head in the game. I think Stark also does this and one that sticks in my mind was at Cambuslang in the cup at start of last season. The ref and nearside linesman were abso horrific, right up there with worst i have seen. Correct me if i am wrong but i think there were 4 reds for Roch that day, 3 during match, one of which was for a sub who had not even came on yet and it was mistaking identity and 1 after fulltime whistle. The fans were singing that day that the ref was a mason to the tune of Seven nation army by the white stripes, it was quite funny, but Starkys red card was for calling the ref a masonic b*****d which thankfully was not wrote in the match report. Now the ref was abso honkin that day, but same as yesterday, when you inow the refs bad try and be wise and minimise the opportunity to give you a card by no doing anything daft. Its a strange one, what can the manager do ? Fine them a fiver or something, i don’t think there is much the manager can do. They ate all big boys and should know better. Taking a booking for team is fine, bookings happen its part of the game, its the daft ones for talking back and kicking ball away that needs cut out. It needs a player with a bot of authority on the park to say, hey, shut up, that should be the captains role but as much as Daw is a great player in my opinion he is one of the offenders too and i think has also walked a couple of times this season, as much as Daw is great and a few others are great, there no much use if away for an early shower or watching from side cause serving a ban. But on a positive note, the clubs is doing great things, ground enclosure and ongoing improvements are brilliant, the charity and community work is something to be very proud of, the social media stuff is great, mostly every fan has on something from candy merch, in the highest league in a long time and still in 2 cups. I think if candy stay in the league, which i think will happen then the season will be a success. I think just staying in the league and going on from there is a realistic target.

  38. The Edinburgh City Millionaires XI: of the team that was named today: Antell: Came from Nairn County where he was paid in Gold Rials by the oil rich North Easterners. Joined at the start of the 1st League season when City's money laundering had only just taken off. Doesn't really need paid as he made a fortune playing for the Shire previously. The one you lot don't like with the same name as a ref: Came from Kelty- I'm sure City have had to match Kelty's massive wages so we'll give you that one. McIntyre: Subject of a multi million pound move from East of Scotland cracks Tynecastle FC who made their money selling the dug's jobbies found on their former pitch at Fernieside as fertiliser. Laird: Again, came in the 1st League season when City had to pay him in flat Irn Bru thanks to their generous sponsorship of the Challenge Cup. At least it was the properly sugary stuff. Smith: Another one who doesn't really need to work again thanks to City upping the massive wages he was on with big spending Forfar, Stenhousemuir and Peterheid. Liam Henderson: Bought a small African country after playing for Falkirk's youth team and the wages they paid. The gold plated Porsche he drives now he is a City player can often be seen in the Ainslie Park car park. Shepherd: Another ex-Falkirk millionaire. So rich he was recently spotted buying a pint in The Village Watson: On loan from everyone's darlings Livingston. And everyone knows how rich Livvy are. Blair Henderson: City have really struggled to match the multi million pound wages he earned at Berwick and Annan. Fortunately a fan stepped in to pay his wages after scooping a small fortune during a whist drive at the City club. Galbraith: Arrives at training by Private Helicopter. Earning so much money at his current club he took a taxi from the City centre over the boundary to Musselburgh the other week. Subs: Morton: Reserve and U21s keeper who is no doubt happy at earning the same wage he did at Dalbeattie Star, the Real Madrid of the South West Taylor: Came from Dundee United u21s and was no doubt on a generous wage there. Its not as if United have had money woes in recent years.. Rodger: Previous club was Brechin City who are well known for paying massive wages. The Chelsea of Angus as no-one calls them. Donaldson: Ex Musselburgh Athletic. Musselburgh, a team described by one commentator in the know as "that bunch of billionaires who can outspend Bonnyrigg and Lithgae. Well, no really but I'm a daftie fae Dunbar who disnae like Musselburgh". Hall: Came from Hibs Youth team. A millionaire and not even out of his teens thanks to the generosity of Edinburgh City. Kennedy: Currently looking to invest in property in the Grange with the millions he gets as a City U21s player. Lumsden: Also making his fortune as a City U21s player. Recently bought a fish supper, that's how rich he is. Impressive that. Before the City board have kittens that I've inadvertently spilled the beans the above is, of course, utter horse shite. I did miss out Balatoni whom I would imagine is on good(ish) money but as can be seen players have been signed from Stirling, Annan, Musselburgh, Peterhead, various U21 teams etc. As Danny Galbraith hasn't played for a season or two I see him as a Riordan type signing in that he's just happy to play. I can't imagine the players previous clubs were great payers so matching or even giving a little extra in wages is not exactly matching Sheikh Mansour at Man City. Other clubs will be paying good money (in relative terms for this League) to their players- I can't imagine Goodwillie and Rankin are playing for sweeties at Clyde (otherwise Goodie would have signed for millionaires City!!) and McAllister is probably on good money at Peterheid. Perhaps these players have come to City because the club is based in the Capital and its easier to get to training after their jobs (City, are, still part timers of course) rather than have to Stirling or Glasgow on a Tuesday and Thursday evening for example. I remember Meadowbank Thistle finishing second in the First Division back in the day with a squad that was on less money than some of the bigger teams in that Division. What they did have was a tactical genius in Terry Christie and good team spirit and maybe its the same thing with this City team.

  39. Felt a bit for larky today , they started well today an scored a belter off a goal , we equalized then should have had a stonewall penalty , larky broke and should have made it 2-1 , we missed a good few chances before half time but i thought larky fought hard enough to be on level terms at half time . 2nd half was a different story took over and scored 8 goals , could have been more , i disagree with u saying some players chucked it , i thought they fought till the end and played some nice football at times , but the problem obviously is when u lose a few goals the heads go down , keep at it , we've all been there at one time , it's painful at the moment but better times will come back to Larkhall thistle i'm sure off that .
