  4. Yes all very true. But it wasn’t so long ago that you guys were in the Self Preservation League and not giving a damn for lower league football. My how the times have changed.

  10. It’s certainly going to be an interesting January. I reckon we’ll be seeing the back of Frear, Bowman, Newell and obviously Rose, with Bigi and Main in the ‘maybe’ category if we can find someone who wants to take them off our hands. Wouldn’t be disappointed to see any of them go aside from Bigi who I think has something to offer but not in a Robinson team. Onto the manager, as others have said, while we are sitting 9th and with the success of the cup runs and Kipre sale there isn’t really a metric that Robinson isn’t hitting in the eyes of the board. He’s keeping us in the league (as it stands) and is assisting in reducing our debt quicker than the board would have expected. Being honest, I don’t imagine style of play is a particularly high priority for the club. No arguments from me that the style of football is rotten but now that he’s virtually admitted he made an arse of the summer window I think he deserves the chance to fix that in January. It’s not ideal but if he can get us through to the summer in 9th with potentially a bit of cash coming from development fee compensation for Cadden and Turnbull then hopefully he’ll have learned from this summer and realise you need a bit more than a gang of big, strong, honest boys for the club to progress. I’m not entirely convinced another manager in our price bracket could realistically get much more out of this squad than Robinson is.

  11. Renton has had plenty of long runs so far in the holidays. Gave him a full Christmas dinner tonight and my kid gave him a bath so he has crashed now and we’ll probably not see him until lunchtime tomorrow.

  13. My sister sent me this pic of her neighbour's cat she's looking after at the moment at her place in the US. An innocent Christmas scene at first glance, but her own cat Taco is not impressed with having a guest on her territory.

  21. IMO if we use the Harkins money to strengthen the forward line and midfield and manage to keep Semple Until the Summer we have an excellent chance to really push on for a playoff spot.

  27. I too tip my hat to passed and present members of the committee. In answer too your question, is it better today than it used to be?. Age has caught up with Newtown Park and more and more money is required. Cabins do look out of place but money dictates, but those same cabins have generated funds for the running of the club and upkeep of the park, ie. sponsors lounge, pie hut, united club etc. In recent years a new enclosure has been built, old stand removed, new roof over dressing rooms, along with maintaining and feeding the park. All money raised by Bo'ness United F C. It was because of all further improvements needed that inspired committee member Robert Snedden to look into where other moneys could be found, hence the formation of the NPA. Therefore to say that if it was left to Bo'ness United FC. we would be left with a crumbling stadium, you are well off the mark. Incidentally the BIT OF GRASS you refer to is one of the finest playing surfaces in Scotland.
