  1. Got to admire Fasan’s positivity.

  2. That was fantastic, absolutely fantastic. That's the best Stenhousemuir performance I've seen in years - everyone in maroon played well and we thoroughly deserved the win. My expectations going into the contest were low - Falkirk are a bad side but they had appeared to have shown a degree of competence and organisation in recent weeks, while Stenhousemuir had slumped to the bottom of League 1 and sacked their manager without any apparent thought as what to do next. I thought the visitors would win 2-0, scoring midway through each half in a comfortable display. And, after seven minutes, I though Stenny were onto a loser when Paul Paton slammed the ball into the net from close range. They were the better team in the opening exchanges, with Tommy Robson a particular danger on the left. Twice he wrong-footed Connor McBrearty as he slalomed into the penalty box and on the second occasion his low cross was, after several attempts, rifled home by Paton. At this point I feared the worst but we equalised shortly afterwards when McBrearty, unmarked, looped a header beyond Leo Fasan's despairing dive. It was a shabby goal to concede, with no-one appearing to organise the Falkirk defence. Moments later, McBrearty would do the same thing - unmarked, looping header, into the net - and from that point on, Stenny settled into the match and controlled the play. The backline looked comfortable, beyond clearing long balls aimed at Dennon Lewis, the midfield of Mark Ferry, Harry Paton and Kieron Gibbons knocked the ball amongst themselves, and Mark McGuigan tussled with Aaron Muirhead and Pat Brough, often getting the better of them. McGuigan directed Alan Cook's cross narrowly beyond the post and there were a number of shots blocked on the edge of the area. It was straightforward stuff. Just as the match neared the interval, Falkirk equalised. It was probably the moment of the game - Deimantas Petravicius raced onto a long ball and, with a gorgeous backheel, teed up Joe McKee to arrow a first-time shot low into the corner of the net. (A couple of weeks ago I was out for my dinner in Glasgow and I was sitting across from McKee and he chews with his mouth open and holds his knife and fork in the wrong hand. Make of that what you will.) It was a crap time to concede and I wondered if it would alter the match and turn it in the Bairns favour but it did not. Stenhousemuir were the better side throughout the second half - Paton was becoming increasingly influential and was fouled about five or six times in succession. Lewis Kidd scythed through him after the whistle had gone and he could have seen a red card if referee Alan Newlands had been a bit more unfavourable. The Warriors retook the lead when Brough, I think, made a hash of controlling a long ball and allowed Mark Ferry to steam in on goal. Rather than shooting, Ferry, excellently, teed up Sean Dickson to stroke the ball into an unguarded net. A beautiful goal and one his performance deserved. Falkirk could do nothing to change the pattern of the match and their flurry of substitutions failed to make any impact. At the death, McGuigan capped his display by holding off his marker, rolling round him and shooting across Fasan and into the net. I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing. Falkirk are a very bad side, make no mistake. They're probably the poorest side we've faced this season. Lewis is quite pacy up top and Petravicius showed a lovely touch to set up McKee's equaliser but other than that they left no impression. Out passed and out fought for the majority of the game - unacceptable against the worst side in League 1. They could not get close to Paton, Dickson or McGuigan all game. Pat Brough could well be one of the worst defenders I've seen in a long time. For all the "let's get to January" talk, there are so many faults with this side that it'll take more than one transfer window to sort. Ray McKinnon really has a hard job on his hands. Stenhousemuir were brilliant. Everyone excelled themselves and with a hitherto unseen fire. It's hard to pick a man of the match but I'd probably give it to Sean Dickson - I don't think I've ever seen him play wide right before but Jordan McGhee didn't get near him once. I'm looking forward to the upcoming fourth-round match with Aberdeen but I do hope we can build on this match and take it into next weekend's game against Arbroath. Picking up a point there would be a massive step in leading us away from the bottom of the table.

  5. Fantastic day out yesterday. Would love to see Clyde play a cup tie at Prestonfield. Superb set up. Left my Trail t-shirt on the train though . All the best for the rest of the season.

  6. The knicker wetters in our support are hilarious. The two old duffers standing behind me at Stenny yesterday were talking as if we were already relegated. No player would want to come to us, etc, etc This time last season we were in a slightly worse position, being 4 points from 8th and having played a game more than the two teams above us. Hartley didn't exactly sign world beaters in January but it was enough to stay up by 17 points. If McKinnon can do likewise to replace the absolute shower of shite in the current squad, we'll be fine.

  9. Normally I like Michael Stewart but his highlighting Rodriguez-gorrins performance yesterday with the comment about how he was central to the way Motherwell have played recently was a joke A) He came on for about 20mins when we were 3-0 up B) He has had about 45mins of action since the start of the season. I was quite happy with how he played yesterday when he came on but to highlight his performance whilst ignoring Turnbull who I would say is more technically gifted is laughable. If David Turnbull was called Davide Turnbullez he may have got a mention.

  10. Just on yesterdays highlights, Joe McKees goal provides an excellent contrast to Andrew Irving who, if he could finish the way McKee does would be a fantastic prospect. As it is, his lack of effectiveness/final product is slowly but surely moving him to the punt pile for me. He is at the start of his career, but Id wager even with the limited player market of January, there are far more effective players at the end of their career available.

  12. There’s a debate to be had on that story but it’s not for a football forum. Long before Brian Clough said at Leeds Utd “ throw all your cups and medals in the bin” my old man said something similar in relation to his schoolboy football career. In the final days before D Day my old man was stationed at Plymouth docks when an Naval officer approached, “Here Jock, you played for the Mungo school about 10 years ago” Aye that’s right enough, good team, “Yes says the officer, i was the Bellahouston goalkeeper when you beat us 14-0, what did you do after leaving school?” My old man innocently answered, Aye i went to work in High St goods yard, played a bit of Junior football and then got called up for the forces, what did you do after school? Says the old man. And the officer answered “I went on to study medicine at Glasgow University”. Throw all your cups and medals in the bin, right enough.

  13. Aye that's who Andrew Irving, Scotland under-19 International, should be aspiring to finish like. Deary me. McKee is a five goal a season non entity. Passing one in from inside the box against a crap League One team is hardly indicative of a treat finisher.

  14. Nice of Ray McKinnon and the other Falkirk TV guys giving credit to our performance by paying us no respect whatsoever. "Fought hard for 90 mins and took their chances" Let's have it right - that was a comprehensive shoeing dished out by the Warriors. At times we played some excellent football - some of the inter-passing between Paton, Dickson, Ferry and Cook was tremendous. "Simple but effective" No, definitely not bitter at all.

  21. We have no idea. Despite all your havering to the contrary, no judgement was passed at the tribunal, hence the lack of news. It might still be a couple of weeks yet. I understand the panel want some additional info. Until that happens, is there any chance you could feck off? Yes, I know this a multi-club forum but you don't have the wit or the wisdom to add anything to the debate. You're boring as well as stupid. And spare me any jibes about today's result please. It wasn't that long ago that you lost to a non-league club in the same tourney at the same stage. Stenny aren't world beaters but they're better than Spartans.

  22. Well, let's start at the top: They haven't said a thing in the past when other players at other teams have faced similar issues. They knew before they "appealed" that there was no rule in place that allowed an appeal in the circumstances. The old club went bust with a huge list of creditors, not giving a single thought to the livelihoods the unpaid debt would affect. Candeias job involves more than playing in competitive games. He can still do everything else. Rangers have been on the receiving end of countless Collum mistakes in their favour, and said nothing about any of them. In short, it is a load of hypocritical pish that can be easily swatted away with next to no thought whatsoever.

  25. If you're dishing it out you have to take it. The general level of debate there is pretty juvenile and Paddy's contributions do nothing to alter that. His almost gleeful reaction to yesterday's defeat was poor stuff.

  27. Thought Dicker and Power simply got the better of our midfield. Not that Craig and Davidson were poor but the Killie pair work so well in tandem. Very few poor performances across the two teams and I agree with what seems the general consensus that it wasn't an exciting game but that didn't make it a poor game or lacking in quality. After their calendar year, Killie will surely have the belief that they can be in the mix for European places; I hope Saints can stir up those feelings as well. A lot to like about this team and the squad looks pretty strong. Our next two games will tell us a lot though.

  30. No wasn't at the game as rule I don't do friendlies as for the result really couldn't careless it's about getting player a run out Maybe some put a lot of stock in these types of games but the mean nothing we beat Hamilton accies in a friendly start off the season then lose to their Colts in a comparative match Getting beat by cowdenbeath was unacceptable a draw in a friendly is of no consequence

  31. I see the little shit is still reading from the Tory party playbook in claiming that Scotland has to put up with everything Tory England does, and that it has no right to legitimate complaint. Any whisper of complaint about that treatment is to be condemned as “grievance* and resentment” (unless it’s him complaining, which is fine, because UK nationalism is a special exception to an otherwise evil ideology). * “Grievance” was the BritNat mantra at the last election. Losing your EU rights? That’s just grievance. Killing yourself over Universal Credit? Bah, pointless grievance. What’s that, fishermen? Oh f**k off with your grievance. In the UK Nat mind, there is nothing that can be inflicted on Scotland, no matter how horrific, that they won’t try and justify by claiming that arguing against it is just “grievance politics”.

  36. UK politicians are cowards. Not one of them will stand up and say “we’ve allowed xenophobia to run riot. We’ve encouraged it. We’ve welcomed a media that blamed Europe for our failings. Brexit was a result of all of that and there’s no way of delivering it, especially not as we promised, without unleashing disaster”. So Brexit will rumble on, in an unplanned and haphazard way. Xenophobia will go unchecked. When the economy takes a hit, the same politicians will still try and blame the EU for “punishing” poor innocent Britain. The media will continue to help them out.

  38. I just don't get this obsession with slating Muirhead at any opportunity. The man's not the most skilful but he's played nearly 200 games at this level under 4 different managers for a reason(including 2 seasons where we finished 2nd). Let's not forget he was in the team when we stopped the rot against County. He certainly wasn't great today but neither was anyone on the pitch(including Tommy Robson, who seems to be beyond criticism). We have at least 7 or 8 players needing replaced before Aaron Muirhead for me. Luckily we have a manager in charge who knows this.

  44. One of the most embarrassing performances I’ve seen. Nae idea how we can go from our performances from the last 4 or 5 games to that utter shite. First well done to Stenny. They were comfortably the better team and thoroughly deserved the win. 4-2 flattered us and it could’ve been a lot more. Mark McGuigan was the best player on the park today imo. Bodied Muirhead all game long and deserved his goal at the end Really unsure where to start with our shiteness. After a pish first half we done absolutely nothing in that second half. Can’t remember any chances or shots on target, no pressure and no urgency to get back into the game. There was just an acceptance from the players as soon as the 3rd goal went in we were beat. That ‘keeper is needing punted ASAP. Can’t deal with cross balls, parries everything back into the danger area and holy f**k his kicking. Last goal came from one of his pathetic kick outs. We’ve been really strong defensively recently and then with Harrison being out and Muirhead coming back in we went to pieces and couldn’t defend all day. Muirhead had me seething with the amount of stupid needless fouls he gives away. Hopefully Mark McGuigan leaves him in his back pocket. I’ve already made my feelings clear earlier about Dennon Lewis but I just want to say again what a pathetic excuse of a footballer he is. No redeeming qualities whatsoever.
