  4. Saying that the EoS went for quantity over quality is unfair. The point is that the pyramid is for clubs at all levels. The likes of Eyemouth and Tweedmouth have just as much right to be in there at their place than the likes of Hearts and Hibs. Having clubs moving over en masse was always going to cause issues. An argument could be made for only accepting stronger clubs first and then let weaker juniors join at the bottom a season later. However, it's in my opinion far better to have 1 messy season and then move to a proper tiered structure in which all clubs play at the right level for them. For clubs like Linlithgow, it will only be one year playing against some of the weaker clubs, they will be EOS Premier (or LL) next season. And saying the pyramid is about reaching the top is wide off the mark. The pyramid is about playing football at your level. If it's only about reaching the top level than really only the 20 or so full-time SPFL sides have a reason of being in the pyramid as they are the only sides realistically capable of playing in the Premiership.

  6. Well, let's start at the top: They haven't said a thing in the past when other players at other teams have faced similar issues. They knew before they "appealed" that there was no rule in place that allowed an appeal in the circumstances. The old club went bust with a huge list of creditors, not giving a single thought to the livelihoods the unpaid debt would affect. Candeias job involves more than playing in competitive games. He can still do everything else. Rangers have been on the receiving end of countless Collum mistakes in their favour, and said nothing about any of them. In short, it is a load of hypocritical pish that can be easily swatted away with next to no thought whatsoever.

  8. I actually think 'Light it up red' is one of the classier commemorative events. Far rather that than Poppies on the back of buses or trucks etc. Celebrating victory by getting noshed off by a giant poodle.

  9. I find it hard to get excited about any type of TV deal TBH. More money is obviously important but the Sky's utterly formulaic minimal-fucks-given coverage certainly wouldn't persuade me to start paying for Sky sports again after cancelling it a few years back. Sky's coverage is basically an OF fan service - you get to see your team's away game every fortnight and as a result there is a virtual guarantee that your home game will be 3pm on a Saturday (post europa league games notwithstanding). You always get pundits that used to play for your team who don't waste time in researching the other teams as OF fans don't want to hear that shite). Lastly, with the saturation coverage your team receives and the fact that one half of the OF always play on a Sunday, there's no need or demand for a MOTD type highlights show - the diddies can watch minimal highlights whenever it can be squeezed in on a Sunday. If the subscription basically funds English Football and OF TV, where is the attraction for the rest of us? Lastly - you'd hope that if Sky can afford 30m/year, they can maybe employ someone in the graphics dept to match the correct fucking badge with each team now and again.

  13. Idealistic post time. The conditions of the deal are as important as the sum. None of the increased sum will filter down to supporters. No cheaper tickets or improved facilities. All it will do is encourage clubs to bid higher with wage offers for players, and player wages and agent fees are where all this increased income will go. We've been there before. So let's not completely sell out as people have described the Norwegian deal, simply for the headline payment. I'd rather we got a deal which resulted in less disruption to fixtures, fairer distribution of money, and a better spread of coverage, for example the old firm don't get nearly every single away game live but hardly any home ones, to shaft the attendances of the diddies, but not them. Financial incentives to clubs who are on live for the entertainment rating of a match etc. I would probably prefer anything to sky. I think they are horrendous. I've mostly enjoyed BT's coverage and wouldn't mind it continuing.

  16. I'd quite like Eleven to win them, as I hate indirectly funding the shite that is English football with my subscriptions to those services. I'd cancel Sky and BT immediately.

  17. I have been on P&B for a number of years now but never really been one for posting messages but this thread has grabbed my attention. As a former player, I find it quite sad at some of the comments that have been posted but everyone is entitled to there opinion. The standard of the players, management, coaching, league position and pride in the club is very concerning but how do we change this ? Amatuer players play at that level for a reason and to say players that a Saturday amateur could come to WW and make a difference is not going to happen, it has been tried at various clubs without success over the years. Are WW a big club who can attract players, No, ( just because newcastle broon says we are a big club dosn't mean we are) the sooner we realise this the better, we are not going to attract seasoned players to WW because we are not a good option, recently a goalkeeper went to Haddington when he had the option ( and I hear the manager was desperate to get the goalkeeper )to come to WW now thats a statement as to where we are !! I don't think this thread helps either as a player looking to join a club I find out about the club before I signed, after looking at this thread would I join WW, N

  18. Scottish football's insecurity about what people in England (and abroad) think about our game grinds my gears. The sooner we stop trying to be EPL-lite and just embrace our game for what it is (it's fucking tremendous) the better. I think BT seem to understand that and have tried to pitch their coverage as being the alternative to EPL and not direct competition and that's what our suits should try and do too. Sky have some people who really care about our game. A prominent St Johnstone poster informed me that a lot of the stuff on Sky's on demand service is excellent and to be fair it is. The face of sky - ie sky sports news, the actual football channels etc - treat our game below its level though and that has to improve. If BT do lose the rights to Scottish football as seems likely going by that report in the Sun, Sky should try and get the presenting team involved with their coverage. They've got excellent chemistry and whilst it may be an act (I personally don't think it is) they do come across as knowledgeable and care more about our game than just about the Old Firm games.

  20. The quoted figure of about £33.3m a year would be over a 50% increase on the current deal, which is itself the biggest TV income the league has ever had. How much was being "hoped" for here?

  24. Don’t mind me asking Beckanbaur, because of events outside my control on Saturday (the old mother aged 94 is getting near her time so to speak and her indoors wants the gang nearby just in case) i can’t make it along to Ayrshire on Saturday to see the Candy play Dalry Thistle. The alternative plan i’d had in mind was to take in the Cambuslang Rangers v Yoker cup tie. I’ll be taking a couple of my grandchildren along. One is 21 and English the other is 7 and likes Rangers plus i’ve gave a shout to a retired mate of mine from Ruglen. Obviously other than admission money i’d buy a few raffle tickets and a programme if one is on sale. Plus of course catering and maybe a couple of haufs for the old yin. We don’t shout or swear. Just 4 punters looking forward to a Junior game. Thing is, as a St Roch’s supporter who can’t manage to get along by to see the Candy would i be welcome or is it best i look for another game?

  29. The writing is pretty basic stuff and the plot is a fairly boilerplate "Fantasy Most Important Person In the Universe Has a Mission" type trope. It's basically Star wars without the good bits, right down to how the characters fit into those roles: Harry = Luke (Most Important Person in the Universe with a Destiny) Ron = Han (Right hand man and general comic relief, gets the girl) Hermione = Leia (Only significant female presence, actually smarter and more capable than the MIP) Haggard = Chewie ( Big hairy b*****d with no discernable point beyond providing a non human - giant and Wookie - character) Snape = Vader (Real baddie's right hand man, sinister c**t with a heart of gold with weird familial connection to our Most Important Person) Voldermort = Palpatine (Real baddie. Pale skinned and barely in the story at all, both get dinged by their own Hubris)

  35. I dont know the script with the amateur stuff that sees Mackin and TOE doing the same. Whatever avenues are open to us, Id like to hope Ray is fully clued up. If its as cut and dried as no one can play in any capacity pre January in our league then fair enough. I dont know if thats correct or not. Skyline Drifter will fill us in soon though... Just need to say journeyman three times.

  36. In our work today there were a number of workshops to discuss stress in the workplace and how to deal with it positively. Seeing it as an ideal way to spend 30 minutes away from my desk, my boss and I signed up for it. Started out really well, the woman taking the talk obviously knew her stuff, and some of the hints and suggestions she was providing on ways to alleviate stress seemed pretty decent. The second part of the session had the group shutting their eyes, palms on our thighs, listening to her talk very gently, telling us to picture a happy place in our mind, blah blah blah. About five minutes after starting this I could hear the guy across from me snoring, quite soft at first, but gradually getting louder. My tongue is sore from biting it, trying to stop myself from laughing. In the end I couldn’t hold it in anymore, tears streaming down my face, and just burst into a fit of giggles. The poor guy was completely oblivious to having fell asleep. Howling.

Yes, they had a bit of money to throw around at the time but you can't argue with what he achieved with them. That said, he's supposed to be a horrible person and I wouldn't want him anywhere near the club. Feel like pure shit just want Bomber back x

  40. Look let me break it down for you Arthurlie We played with 10 men for 70 mins and in the main we were shocking . Arthurlie took there chances and deserved there win but did I leave the ground thinking that arthurlie are a right good side ? No they done the job on the day but I felt once we get in our stride we will be a match for them. Kilysth Again we ended up with 10 and in fact our forward in goal Again on the day I felt as much as Kilysth punished us and deserved to win on the day we were poor and they never left me the impression that they were a far better side than St Rochs. If we were to play both of them now I would wager that we would not be beaten by such a margin by either of them . Cumberrnauld Despite the scoreline cumbernauld played some lovely football and will probably feel it was 3 points dropped indeed we scored twice in injury time when cumbernauld probably felt they could go and win the game and if they had we would have had no complaints as they played very well on the day and just poor finishing let them down but as I left the ground I thought you know what they are a right team and not many teams will go there and win and I was impressed by the way they kept the ball on the grass and kept playing football . Now that's all opinions my opinions based on the fact I unlike you actually attended the games and not based on some petty little hatred of a junior football club fans cos you once heard a guy shout something you did not like .

  44. Your decision was late, if the EoS had played it by the book you would still be Junior. So rather than harp on at the EoS about what they should or should not have done, which is frankly absurd, be grateful that they were so accomodating, and just move on. In years to come you will thank them for accepting any old Tom, Dick or Harry.
