  1. On self-preservation, the original EoS 13 clubs set the example. They invited all comers to join them at the same level, pushing back their deadlines to accommodate everyone and creating conferences, outnumbering themselves two-to-one, knowing it would make it vastly harder for them to reach the LL, ensuring a tough season for most of them and a brutal season for some, all in the name of unifying the grades. If they hadn't, the PWG would still be at square one today. They're the only group of clubs that have made a sacrifice in the interests of the game. For that, I really think they deserve to be recognised as the only non-league feeder to the LL (or LL2) in the south-east of Scotland.

  2. If it has to be one of them then Harrison would be better. I don’t ever want to see Dallison ever again.

  4. Your theory only works on the assumption that there are no homes vacant anywhere in Glasgow, which is of course pish. Furthermore there were a total of 1450 homeless assessments on people with dep children across the whole of Scotland in 2018. The figure for Glasgow will be a fraction of that. I have no problem at all with helping out fellow human being in dire straits because I'm not a self-loathing Tory c**t with a penchant for some racist bigotry. Finally considering you have plenty of previous on here for disparaging comments towards the homeless, folk on benefits etc, I don't think anyone here is going to take your sudden concern for them particularly seriously.

  5. We had some round last night, asking for cash. Told them I wanted a joke and one of the arseholes just looked at me and said "you". Shut the door, but can't help but feel he and his friends won that round.

  9. I'd argue an ERJFA in the pyramid when a feeder for the region already exists is self preservation on part of the juniors.

  10. Colleague of mine died on Sunday. No idea of the cause. Went for a nap in the afternoon and never woke up. Only 30. No (known) underlying health conditions. Only been in the (pretty cushty) management job for about four months. One of the lads in security was really good pals with him, known him since school and was supposed to be meeting him on the Sunday evening and was the one to inform work what happened. Now, usually, I would be upstairs in an office on ma todd but, covering for someone on holiday, I'm at the main entrance for reception/patient affairs/security. So had about two dozen folk come by over the week so far to see him and they're having the same conversation with him each time. And, I dunno what I'm expecting other folk at work to do, but EVERYONE is asking him how he's doing then having a 10-15 minute chat about how terrible it is and how shocking it is and saying daft phrases like "Oh it goes to show you can go at any time" or "If your number's up your number's up" and security fella's doing a decent job of thanking everyone for their kind words and pretending he's not getting annoyed but it is clearly grating him and he's agitating for them to just f**k off and not remind him that his pal just died. Folk just care more about appearing to look like they're doing the right thing than actually caring.

  12. Football fans are a fickle bunch; one minute they're criticising someone for their decisions and the next they're buying them a wreath after their helicopter has plummeted from the sky and been engulfed in a blazing inferno.

  13. So it happened again last night; this time reports of someone screaming for help coming from our house. Normally I'm a stickler for rules but on this occasion you really don't want to see it. Think an uglier, fatter, more ginger Miranda Hart Second time round cops said they won't wake us up if there's another call. Gives me free rein to start digging out the dungeon now.

  18. 0 attempts on goal. 0. Zero. I find it hard to believe that even a competent pub team wouldn't manage a single attempt over 90 minutes. Fair enough taking the approach that we need to be stuffy and stop losing before we can think about winning, walk before you can run etc, but I see absolutely nothing positive to take from that performance, or indeed, absolutely anything since McIntyre was given the job. Ridiculous appointment, and I agree that Nelms needs to be seriously scrutinised. Not just for his choice of appointees in the manager position, but also for sanctioning them signing a complete and utter load of dross over the past two and a bit seasons. It seems like we've gone from taking calculated risks that sometimes pay off and sometimes don't, i.e. Hendry and Kamara, versus the likes of Deacon and Moussa, to just signing outright garbage that patently isn't up to playing at this level. I think throughout the squad, and it has become ridiculously bloated, there are probably 10-12 players who can actually cut it in this tier, however, neither of our past two managers seem to be able to identify them or coalesce them around a coherent approach or tactic. The rest are just pure deadweights who offer absolutely nothing. Why the hell did we sign Miller? It's not as if he's an unknown quantity or didn't have a recent body of work to judge him on. Who was responsible for scouting and assessing the likes of Ralph, Mendy, etc etc? Who sanctioned investing a fee in Hamilton, who appears to be no better than the ten-a-penny jobbing goalkeepers who are inevitably available to sign for free every single off-season? Somebody needs to be held accountable for this absolute omnishambles. This isn't just a run of bad luck, or the natural ebb and flow of the relative quality of a team you'll see naturally over three or four seasons, it's complete and utter intransigence.

  19. So, John Nelms. Talked a rookie into the job and sanctioned him to sign even more players and spend even more money at the end of the transfer window even though everyone and their dog knew he wouldn't be in his role past Christmas. Hires his replacement 24 hours after the former's sacking, having clearly not interviewed candidates or conducted a decent background check as proven by 'Dodds gate.' Can Keyes give him the bullet? Please. The guy's a buffoon and if McCann deserved sacked (he did) then this guy absolutely does as well. His lack of any football knowledge will leave us fucked.

  20. I agree with most things your saying, there needs to be a restructure, there is no need for all the associations that there are. Especially in the Glasgow area. I really think the "pro youth" status is what is killing the under 21 and amateur game. The amount of kids that are lost to football once there pro youth dream is over is unbelievable. Then there are the ones that stay involved and eventually do move to the amateur game, the vast majority feel they're owed something. The right to play for example, the amount of players iv heard say, I can't get a game here but I was pro youth 3 years ago. Or there team suffer a bad defeat so they move on cause they are too good for that. There is obv other obvious issues like work and family life but I feel the main issue is the lack of teenagers or early 20s in the game.

You're finishing work, going home to your cat and sitting watching recorded episodes of Homes Under the Hammer, the weather outside is of no consequence to you.

  27. Never been a hater of Muirhead either. He's not great, but certainly miles from the top of the "must be got rid of" list. He can definitely play a part in a staying up side.

  28. absolutely this. I sit up behind the dug out when Muirhead came to the touchline injured he gestured to the bench he was done but despite this went back on and played his part in getting the draw. I've always been a supporter of his, I do think he's struggled a bit at right back thus season but at centre last night he played really well in his favoured position. he and McGhee largely nullified the best strike force in the league. hope he recovers soon

  29. I’ll say it as it is, seen as my name suits! Unfortunately, times have changed when we were playing back in the day. This problem goes well past being just a footballing issue and footballers not wanting to play. This is more of an economy issue and personal finance issue. Players nowadays, or should I say families nowadays, cannot afford for the man of the house to go spend their Saturdays playing football. Their Mrs May work weekends and children need watched or the guy may need to work weekends/overtime/shift work. Unfortunately, at amateur level, football doesn’t pay the bills. The cost of living has by far increased and one basic wage no longer covers this cost. Also football is another cost on its own and is also getting dearer to play and for equipment to play.

  30. Always going to happen unfortunately, my generation and perhaps guys a decade younger than me didnt have online crap, smartphone nonsense etc, you finished school and if the weather permitted you went anywhere and kicked a ball, you wanted to play both sat and sunday, school teams, training 3 or 4 nights a week etc Have a look at streets, local pitches etc, they lie empty of kids growing up kicking a ball, i play twice a week at toryglen for a game of 7's, before we play there is the odd coaching session going on and maybe 3 or 4 boys kicking a ball having a laugh, thats it, 20 years ago you'd see 15 a side on pitches like toryglen Money and stuff plays a part in amateur footie dying, but the lack of upcoming bodies does it as well

  31. All sides in this come in the discussion with the aim of self-preservation, the LL, EOS, SOS, SJFA & HL, that seems quite obvious. The point is that different sides are now putting their cards on the table and then they'll have to reach a compromise.

  36. Why do Brechin fans want to appoint someone who managed Brechin Vics, had a spell at Broughty Athletic as coach/ assistant and recently left Tayport after an embarrassing 5-1 hammering at home in the junior cup while in the league they're mid table in a weak superleague? Surely if you're going to go down that route Phil McGuire, as an example, would be a better appointment?

  40. Call me heartless but I don't see why the death of the owner of an English football club warrants a minutes silence at a Scottish football match. This isn't a cheap pop at Utd btw, it wouldn't surprise me if there was one at Dens tomorrow night as well.

  41. It was a thing, but the charity that started it discontinued it because what they were trying to promote got mixed up along the line. Found this: Andrew Taylor, Animal Aid director, said on their website: "Our aim was to make it clear that animals used in warfare are indeed victims, not heroes. They do not give their lives; their lives are taken from them. "But too often the narrative promoted by the media has been one of animals as the valiant servants of people in violent conflict. This is precisely the opposite message to that which we intended." Instead they replaced the poppy with a purple paw badge to commemorate all "all animal victims of human exploitation" that can be worn all year round.

  42. Literally posting up minutes that show that @Burnie_man is correct and then still saying he is wrong. There is simply no reasonable argument for 2 routes to the LL in the East. There is no reason why the East Juniors & EoS can't merge (or at least those East juniors in the LL area if the boundary doesn't change). It's important to finally get rid of the artificial divide in non-league football. There is no difference between juniors & senior non-league. It's all non-league and other than a label and different governing body effectively the same.

  43. Do you think they will still play this when they score?
    3 points
  44. Yes initially there were 'historic' overlapping catchment areas, but in the main this is currently not the case. This is because the English FA (re)allocates clubs annually, as it controls the pyramid (and also reviews its structure periodically), moving clubs as appropriate given their location. There are appeal rights to the Football Association, which makes the final decision. about which promoted/relegated clubs, play in which league each season. If the SJFA retains a role in the Scottish pyramid, there will be chaos, especially in the East.
