  1. Right, first things first, of course I'm delighted at yesterday's result as would you lot be if it had gone your way, normal rival etiquette but looking at it objectively it's hard to see anything but a disaster for Falkirk at this current time. Obviously a lack of ability is being touted all over this thread but I think you have far more worrying issues. Now I'm not claiming we have a squad full of locals who bleed black and white or anything outrageously romantic but there is something in the squad, they seem to care, they seem to like each other, there's a wee something to work with even though we're bang average. What you lot should be worrying about is the complete lack of heart or pride, the lack of identity , the disconnect between the players, club and fans. Leaves little for the manager to work with. Falkirk should have been at our throats yesterday, it should have been a battle, I think deep down a lot of Pars fans would admit to preferring the blood and snot games to that sh__e. They don't seem to have any character which could be far disastrous when matched with a lack of ability. I personally want the battles back, the exciting games but I fear they are a long way away at this point.

  4. Lots of things, to try and summarise: The top 6 season was built on a solid defence- when Liam Lindsay left it fell apart, even if his direct replacements weren't the worst offenders, the likes of Keown, Devine , and Barton were hopeless. It was also based on taking points off the teams around us, as over the 5 seasons our records against the bigger teams was abysmal- half the time when we went to Ibrox or Pittodrie we were beaten before we kicked off. With Hibs replacing ICT that was basically another 3 games in the L column. Recruitment at first glance looked decent (OK, apart from maybe Nitrianksy), but we had a gaping hole in the middle of the pitch, Osman got injured early on as did Bannigan, Gary Fraser I'm not sure was ever up to it. Our approach to this was to assume it would be fine when Osman came back from injury in January but he had just lost it totally (perhaps too much focus on shilling his hats) and by the end of the season he was benched. We also continued our habit of losing key late goals, we played you and Hamilton in back to back weeks, both times going 1-0 up and losing 2-1 with the winner coming in injury time. I know it's an "if your auntie had baws" scenario but two wins there and I think we're playing top division football this season. Of course we had the safety net of the playoff but we were dreadful and while we're not the only team in the last 18 months to have underestimated Livi, I'm pretty sure we did. Even after the first leg, the general feeling seemed to be we'd be fine on a bigger and better pitch, but we were worse. This summer the recruitment did not look so good. We went into the season with one right back, who isn't even really a right back, and knowing he was suspended for the first game. We have instead signed 2 left backs to add to the one we already had. A collection of late window waifs and strays later, and our best players (potentially barring Coulibaly who hasn't played in 18 months) are still Doolan, Erskine, and Bannigan, who were all at the club when Archibald took over (tho he did of course re-sign Erskine). The football was very predictable as well, last season we hardly played through the middle, some of those stats guys on twitter showed we were conceding the most chances of any team from the middle of the pitch and pretty much everything went down the wings. Yesterday on the face of it seemed a strange game to end it, County are clearly favourites for the league but not only was it a first home league defeat, it showed the absolute gulf between the teams, they won without getting out of 2nd gear. Sad that it ended this way but it had long gone past the point it was tenable.

  6. Tell you something, the BOD must be absolutely loving the fact they appointed Hartley. Loads of fans blaming him for everything that's gone wrong with the club over the past decade. The BOD are getting off virtually Scot-free because of it.

  7. Should have been emptied after the 5-1 defeat to Kilmarnock last December. All feels a bit surreal now that it has happened though. I cant derive any pleasure from this unlike when Dick Campbell was bagged. It’s undoubtedly the correct decision, but sad nonetheless.

  8. There’s no excuse for it, but this is what happens when you build an entire fight on hatred and one of them isn’t just trying to sell it. Khabib is a fucking lunatic, who has been racially abused, had his bus attacked and been disrespected at every turn, and horrendous though it is, this is the outcome. Madness. Buffer doing the official announcement with neither fighter in the Octagon is fucking hilarious [emoji23]

  10. Eh, what has he said here that’s wrong? He’s said what everyone is thinking and to me, irrespective of his ability, it’s refreshing to hear our captain speak the plain truth to our support. I have long had the impression that there are a few in that team who rate themselves way beyond their ability.

  11. Tbf bang a quick search in and this thread is absolutely hilarious from pre season, here's yer man Grant228 dishing out telts and accurately predicting your season back in July, whataguy. More telts. Crazy the amount of posts like this, fans just deliriously happy to be signing duds from Truro because it's something different. Telts. Whataguy. So much faith in Hartley. Paul Hartley was gone by September, lawl.

  12. OK, the fat bird has stopped singing and the scores have dropped on my desk 12:00 hours early. Up first we had the small matter of the P&B Quizzers, tap bois fighting over a piece o silver. @Christophe TAMB - I’ll go for 15,001 members v @DublinMagyar Reinstalling the app worked! I'll take a stab at 54,573 v @CaspianChrisI will go with around 82,000 members. Charlies Angels @German JagIt‘s something ridiculously high although the no. of people that post is v. small. Will say 72.000. v @Salvo Montalbano Not sure in the slightest - is this a Facebook thing? I'll plump for 7,412 for no reason whatsoever. Charlies Adams @Bully Wee Villa Tartan Army message board has 8,312 members. This is definitely right. You don't need to check. v @JamesP_81I'll go with the same amount of tickets celtic will demand for their semi-final, 100,000. The question was, Short & Sweet P&B has 48,966 members, however I stumbled across the Tartan Army message board (don't ask) how many member does that forum have? Correct answer is 80,858 (our moderators are better) Congratulations to @CaspianChris @German Jag & @JamesP_81 Special mention to @LincolnHearts this weekend as I believe he and myself are still holding fort as the last 2 quizzers on Last Man Standing. Have a great week everyone, I'll be having some crazy shite happening, wife is due on Wednesday...

  14. I see the revisionism for last season has already started. Too many folk blaming Hartley for emptying our squad. Hartley didn't inherit a squad of journeymen who had us languishing in sixth. He inherited a squad of hapless jobbers who had been playing shite and deserved to go, and was 100% right to empty them when he came in. When he got his own players in, results significantly improved. He monumentally fucked up over the summer and deserved to be punted. But let's not pretend he didn't get last season spot-on. Anyway... Today was fucking shite. Empty the fucking lot of them. And I'll tell you something, I was sitting along from who I assume are a couple of youth players, and they spent the entire fucking match fucking around on their phones, not giving a shit about the game. If I was in charge of a youth setup and saw my players not giving a f**k about the team they are supposedly aspiring to play for, I'd be emptying them too. Our club is fucking rotten.

  16. Except that not the case before the embargo happened as you well know - Junior clubs who wanted to apply for a licence had to commit to the pyramid, which is why Kelty moved in the first place. Which league are we talking about - the East Juniors, which has no entry to the Lowland League, or the East of Scotland League, which has no Tayside members? How can something be a fact when there is no possibility of it happening? Oh, so you're "not sure" about something but are totally sure to such an extent you state it as a "fact" something that contradicts rules that are written down and have been quoted multiple times on here? Ah, the old "from what I've been told" gambit. I'd have thought by now you'll know that you need to take everything with a massive pinch of salt. Especially if they are connected to TJ and the SJFA. So this is all actually just based on some half-arsed, back of an envelope make-up pie in the sky plan and nothing official? I'd have probably led with that tbh. Would have made you look a little less deluded. [emoji6]

  22. Paying Aitken off isn't "spunking money", it's doing the right thing to stop the rot and avoid a relegation battle. If you had offered me Rory Loy, Michael Paton and Ross Forbes at the start of the season or a contingency fund to ensure we could pay off Aitken should he have us joint bottom of the league after quarter 1 I know what option I would have taken. You can't roll out the "we're skint" chat whilst we operate with a top 4 budget. Are we more skint than Montrose, Forfar, Stenny, Stranraer or Brechin? If we are then why is our playing budget more than theirs? It's not the Sonstrust responsibility to pay off Aitken. If they don't want to use any disposable cash they have to pay him off that's their choice. If I was in charge of the Sonstrust funds would I do it? Absolutely. But they shouldn't even come into it.

  26. If we're in a situation where the fans are unhappy, there's dressing room unrest (see Sir Patrick's posts on the Facebook group) and the board are wanting rid but can't afford to pay him off, then that is an absolutely disastrous situation to be in - and one that could very well see us spending next season visiting Annan, Berwick and Cumbernauld. I understand Stevie not wanting to walk away, especially if the money is as high as mentioned earlier, but he's absolutely ruining his reputation. The way we're going he'll be lucky to get another job in the SPFL - even Stirling Albion fans were telling me to get in the sea when I did the standard 'You can have Stevie Aitken if you want' bantz. I've said it a few times, but if he's still in charge for the East Fife game then the home support will be horrific, and the atmosphere absolutely toxic.

  27. Ellis has been working for two rubbish regimes now. He cant be without blame to be honest. Either hes been rubbered by two managers and is as quiet as a mouse, hes not actually all hes cracked up to be or the players are so awful no one can help. None of these would surprise me tbh.

  29. Sibbald agreed an extention then walked. Lets not put him up as some kind of hero. In fact its fecking laughable that hartley wouldnt enforce the option on sibbald as he wasnt committed to the club. Christ we had 11 guys on the park yesterday that looked like they'd rather be anywhere than westfield. Option shouldve been enforced whether he wanted it or not.

  33. It was you who shifted the goalposts though - this started as a Dundee will finish bottom of the Premiership argument which you tried (abysmally) to turn in to a Kilmarnock or better than Dundee argument. You might as well have said £1000 that Celtic will have more points than Dundee - we know where we are in the great scheme of things at the present time - that Killie are ahead of us - primarily, I believe, to having a far superior manager. PS If we did finish bottom I'd be almost £2200 up from an £10 initial bet - I'm sure I could drown my sorrows with that.

  36. It’s really disappointing after a defeat that you think will empty McCann from the hot seat, that you come online and the Dundee thread is hot so you think he must have been punted but it’s actually just a Kilmarnock fan having a bizarre meltdown despite gaining 3 points today.

  37. Points per game for the first half of the season: 0.78 Points per game for the second half of the season: 1.83 I didn't say the word "miracle", champ, so take your strawman argument and f**k off. I said "significant improvement". The stats speak for themselves. Maybe if they'd shown a bit of fight or gumption when they were playing with us we wouldn't have been so fucking shite and they wouldn't have been told, quite rightly, to get to f**k.

  40. That was a very strange game of football yesterday. A great game but lacking any real quality imo, just 90 mins of hoof ball. I thought we played well in the first half and probably deserved our well worked goal. Then in typical shire fashion we absolutely shat the bed and find ourselves 2-1 down at HT. The start of the second half had a pre season feel to it, there wasn’t much noise from the players or crowd and it looked like some were just going through the motions. We carved an equaliser out and without having time to finish our celebrations a penalty was awarded and we were 3-2 down. Interestingly, the referee said after the game that McKee won the ball but it was how he tackled the player. I thought it was a penalty in real time but will be interesting to see it again. I’m normally pretty neutral with referees but this bunch were a bit ridiculous, for both teams may I add. From a shire perspective, 2 solid calls for a penalty and then one advantage from a foul right on the edge of the Civil box directly in front of goal. This got the crowd and the players riled up and from then on Shire were on the front foot and duly got the 3rd. Each team missed good chances to snatch it, Civil missed a free header 6 yard out and Danny Ashe hit a 25 yard volley that got tipped over. Injury time seemed to last an eternity when at 5 o clock, Rodgers cut inside and swung a left foot piledriver towards goal which got flicked on by a Civil defender past the flailing goalkeeper to start pandemonium in the Shire support. I don’t know how we did it, but I’ll take it. It took me 21 months to see the Shire win a game and now I’ve seen 2 on the trot, both of which have been mad in their own right. Hopefully it’s 3 in a row in 2 weeks time.

  42. Well done to Muirkirk today. A hard team to beat with all giving a shift for each other. They deserved their win. I don't get to as many Yoker games as I would wish. Today was my last for the foreseeable future. One of the reasons is this is not the team which truly represents the club I came to see as a boy and which could occasionally punch above its weight in the cups while keeping a respectable league position. The last two seasons have seen Yoker fall off a cliff with no parachute. I fear it will only get worse. This current Yoker outfit is a team which would struggle in the lowest amateur division. They could not make the most simple pass whereas Muirkirk continually passed through us. More worryingly this seems to be a club going nowhere with a Comittee whose aim is survival , certainly not to progress and a non appearing Chairman. Just where is Stevie Frew? He seems to have disappeared. He can't be "working " all the time surely. I feel sorry for the new management team because they have taken on a task which I think is beyond them going by their recruitment, tactics and inability to grasp that if you don't lose goals you don't lose games. I have five or six amateur teams local to me which if put in Yoker strips would out perform the current incumbents. I'll be watching them in preference to Yoker because I think I will see greater commitment to improve than Yoker are showing at present.
