  4. And I'll tell you another thing; Shodwall Dog/Cat is all over our threads like a rash to tell us how shite we are. Every single day. What have we heard from him since we managed to get an unlikely win? f**k all. And, just before EB red dots me again, I should explain that I don't think we're very good, in fact we're at a very low ebb currently. I do however appreciate the difference in some very ordinary players since RM came in and feel that some of them can improve a bit further. I'm more confident of escaping the drop now than I was at this time last week although there's a very good chance that the despair may have returned again by this time next week! Time will tell. I'm generally not a very positive person either, folk that know me will say that my glass is nearly empty most of the time.

  5. Ralph Milliband was right about the parliamentary Labour party. The Westminster system is incredibly good at absorbing threats to it's own integrity. Not sure using the personality and outlook of guys like Swinney and Blackford to make unflattering comparisons to those new gods of socialism, Corbyn and Mcdonnell is entirely relevent. All those men will be gone, sooner or later, and in the latter case if that passing leaves the Labour party in the hands of the Ummunas and Kendalls of this world then all the left wing posturing will have been for nothing. Guarenteeing the proper provision of services and enacting lasting changes in society for the better relies on having the correct structures in place. It means having representatives far closer to their constituents, it means proper oversight and revision control of policy, it means clear demarcation of constitutional powers between various government levels. Therefore I believe that Scottish independence is the necessary pre-cursor to delivering the kind of lasting change that Scotland needs. Even the most radical, Corbyn led government could have its achievements wiped out by a 5% swing in a few vital constituencies. The only natural law of Westminster is the tyranny of the majority. That won't change. Westminster is a system that cossets its members in privilege. That successfully co-opts even the toughest rebels. 30 years of Labour majority government have failed to revise that place in any meaningful way. An inbuilt sense of privilege, propped up by a civil service with its own traditions, and narrow pool of talent and sclerotic sense of change has created a ruling class above and seperate from the electorate. Thats not a bug of the system, its a design feature. And while within Scotland there are class divisions and competing interests, the populace are all still connected by a shared geography, shared infrastructure and shared services, by that all important near imaginary sense of shared self that makes up so much of culture, history and ultimately nationhood. Whether rational or not, it persists on both sides of the border and its within that context that the influence of Scotland's Westminster representatives should be viewed. The demographics of Scotland massively restrict it's bloc influence on UK politics. Taking the two extreme cases: 59 MPs from on of the two major UK parties and 59 MPs from a Scottish-centric party. In the former those 59 are ultimately subjected to party loyalty, in the latter all 59 are insufficent to move the parliamentary arithmetic in all but a few cases. Only threading the needle of a Labour minority government propped up by the SNP could really give Scotland bargaining power as a collective. A scenario used to scare English voters at the last election. Even if it came to pass its still not a great excersize in democracy, relying on large monolitgic blocs from a couple of parties to bargain over vast tracts of policy that scotland relies on. If the situation is Corbyn or May, then its Corbyn every day. However, such fragile gains as may be made by Corbyn could easily be lost and lost quickly through a combination of a party only loosely aligned with Corbyn principles in a system at Westminster designed to push back against radical thought. So yeah, tl;dr - I see Scottish independence as the vital pre-cursor to delivering lasting, better change for Scotland.

  8. beating alloa doesn't make everything alright and things are great again and we had every chance v united till the keeper took a daft turn, but this is with a squad of players who just a few weeks ago couldn't have complained if they were 4-0 down at home to Forfar at HALF TIME!!! we have improved, the question is how far can we continue improving and will it be enough. Saturday's game is massive now, just hope the improvements continue.

  10. The less Robson plays the better he gets in some fans eyes. Going by his social media output loves a night out a little too much. He’s more a wingback/winger as he showed end of last season getting forward often but he had 3 Centre halves to cover for him along with Tommy T to cover his space, now we have a back 4 with Paton in the middle of the park so the space isn’t filled as quickly or at all. Going from what ex players like Bobby Barr saying Ray likes to have a sold back 4 that’s quite narrow and let the attacking players do the work up the park I can see why he’s going for Borough, Russell will be gone come Jan by looks of things much like Balatoni last Jan. I trust in Ray more than the COYB page posts asking why Robson isn’t playing at 2:01 every Saturday afternoon.

  11. Why is everyone so keen to play Robson? I liked him last season as a wing back, but he is pretty poor defensively and that's why Brough is playing ahead of him at left back. The Ross County game speaks volumes about his defensive ability.

  17. Awww Nawww. Not a ........REDDER !!! Please Green Day, no. Have mercy on my soul. btw which bit is the fantasy - that Murrayfield is now odds on, or that some Hibbies are going to be more than a wee bit upset if we get to play a semi at our second home, in a competition we should have been chucked out of ? I think you've just demonstrated that the second part isn't fantasy.

  23. Dennon Lewis is utter pish. As are Mackin and a non trying Haber. All three need to be gone sharpish. Our only goal threat is Rudden. He needs help in January, or ideally before. All areas of the team are bad and need gutted but another striker/forward to help Rudden would be priority for me alongside a right back.

  26. People who abuse folk for doing their job. Especially those on minimum wage. Had a guy today abusing one of my staff, shouting, swearing and being generally a c**t. Fair enough a mistake had been made but it was a simple fix. The guy obviously felt good about making a 16yo girl cry when all she's done is come into work. He wasn't so big and mouthy, when after I had listened to his tirade of abuse for a minute informed him that I was calling the police to pass on the cctv and his registration number. c**t can enjoy the chap at his door from Strathclydes finest

  28. My reason is simply that they're the only party genuinely interested in treating the poorest in society like human beings. The Tories gleefully cut disability benefits then deny it as "fake news" and introduced the disastrous Universal Credit. Labour sat on their hands whilst the Tory welfare reform bills went through. Labour also brought in ESA and the use of arseholes like ATOS to carry out assessments. The SNP seem genuinely interested in reforming this shite for the better. It also doesn't inspire much confidence when the branch offices leader is too stupid to distinguish reserved and devolved matters.

  30. It's certainly my mates who are being the c**ts here. Mrs Minertaur has welcomed them into the house many times before and then she just lets us get on with our pub crawl. Taxi's us home occasionally too. Only time I can ever remember her being unhappy with them was when they were invited for a weekend up here but then they invited another bunch of my mates without telling me. Nice surprise for me until I realised that there were half a dozen extra people wanting to crash at my new house. That's the only incident I can think on and that was over 2 years ago. Your 3rd point is the one that gets me the most and I'm glad that somebody else has said it. There's literally nothing to gain by telling me this. Now I know that if we are invited to future events such as nights out/weddings etc that he doesn't want her there. It's an utterly pathetic way to act. Lingerie and a meal it is then!

  42. I reckon the Scottish political classes were hoping that the concept of England would fade away along with Scotland, but it was far too resilient, thankfully. Further, the English political elite had no intention of letting England be replaced by “Britain” - it was simply their understandable desire to gain ownership of Scotland by bribing its craven leaders (better and cheaper to gain control of Scotland than to allow its potentially problematic economic and political autonomy). There were, though, attempts to erase Scots language - but this was done as much with the connivance of the wannabe English Scottish political classes. I’ve always said that Scottish nationalists have little to blame “the English” for, and should instead reserve their criticism for those Scots who bought into the attempts to airbrush Scotland out of existence politically and culturally. If you recall the study of late-twentieth-century Thatcherism/“unionism”, let me know - I’d be interested in reading that!

  43. I'm all in favour of more of these sorts of traps in the streets. I'd like to see them introduced over here to catch as many of these 'text and walk' (a phrase that also includes those browsing whilst walking) cretins as possible. The traps shouldn't have those door panels though so that nothing might stop guilty people from falling in. There should be a roaring fire and/or deadly spinning blades in said traps. No mercy.
