  1. Virtually everyone in football is in it for the money. I get that you're hurting over McKinnons' decision, and I know how that feels. I remember how I felt when we lost Jefferies and McCall. Both were were (arguably) doing greater things at Falkirk than McKinnon did at Morton and both left within days of rejecting offers from elsewhere and then making public statements committing their futures to our club. They still left us. Money talks. Either the immediate money that the next club offers or the potential exposure that it has to get them an even better move (with more money) further down the line. That's football. And life. Most of us would do the same if in our jobs if we were offered a similar chance. The difference is that most of us who've lost out to a better offer simply get on with it. Whereas your incessant "rat" posts come across as being from a teenager whose been chucked for the first time and doesn't have the maturity to deal with it.

  4. I still think the squad is good enough to avoid relegation, properly managed. The problem is the manager.

  5. This is a common error made by fans. Players don't always fit nicely into brackets like this (the type good enough to win you the league, the type you might get a playoff with, the type that'll keep you in the division etc). Different players perform differently with other players, managers, and systems in place. It's not just a case of bringing in certain standard of player (let's sign him because he's a championship winner), it's about building a team. Livi showed that you can make two promotions in two years, and ayr are doing fairly well this year with a very similar team which came very close to bottling league 1. Two years ago Ayr signed Gary harkins and we all got carried away - and then he turned out to be one of the worst signings in recent history. He's a very, very good player but he didn't fit our team.

  7. The first singles match of the Dotting Invincibles Cup of Kings was the ultimate grudge match. Bigger than Celtic vs Rangers, Ali vs Frazier or Microsoft Excel vs Google Sheets (I put that last one in just for the Cardinal). Lincoln Hearts has given his troops the inspirational team talk, he's organised the post-match champagne and strippers, and he's leading by example with an eight. Christophe knows his team have it all to do, but despite a perfectly reasonable seven, they're getting further behind. Helpma is clearly far better at quizzing than Hamilton Accies are at football. He'd already won both his doubles matches, and he notches an eight here. Former titan alang1993 has been floundering of late in the league, could he have a change of fortune in the cup? Well, no. Not really. 4. We might need a quizzing equivalent of the "Miracle at Medinah", here. LINCOLN'S LIONS 11.5 CHRISTOPHE'S CRUSADERS 6.5.

  11. Quite right Shodwall. After all, if BPM is correct then the BOD wasted time trying to recruit two other managers before finally getting their third choice on deadline day. They should have known those guys would knock us back and not bothered talking to them. They should have had the foresight - and the hindsight that you have - to have gone straight to McKinnnon first. Then he'd have had a couple of extra days to get in a right back and we could have signed Ralston after all. Oh, apart from the fact that he didn't want to come. Which - to go back to my original point - had nothing to do with the BOD.

  16. Difficult not to be nursing anything short of a quarter-chub at the prospects of our season tbqh. But before I get carried away in ostentatious, excitement about the season ahead, it should be flagged that Aberdeen won their first 8 straight games in a row three seasons back and then folded away like a chair by none other than John Hughes, and then beaten to death it with by St Johnstone 5-1 on their on park. To counter that though, what I will say is this is the most outrageously talented squad I've seen since 05-06. I don't think we even had these numbers squad wise in 10-11 when JJ took us to 13 wins out of 15. That Sean Clare signing feels like a surprise dessert latched onto a slap up meal at the Ship on the Shore, and it almost feels like 'too much good feels' that we've latched that on top of the feel good factor of beating Motherwell, away, arguably below our best. It's the first time I've really looked at the squad and thought, "you know what, we don't need anyone else now", and that's still with a banging-them-in Vanecek to come in January. Our next three games all being at home really help, but Livi have shown they are no mugs this season, Motherwell always find a way to be extremely hard to beat in the way of our potential first trip to Hampden in half a decade, and St. Johnstone finally look like a team who have successfully re-invented themselves. None of these game should be taken for granted, even if the Gorgie hubris is an infectious shortcoming to curb, but if we get through them all, oh ya fucker I'll struggle to keep myself from being swept up in the euphoria. I certainly don't for a second think we'll win the title, even if Celtic look weak atm (I expect them to turn it around), Rangers aren't there yet, Aberdeen look like a season of transition and Hibs haven't clicked yet, but with our home form, and the shoots of our away looking harder to beat, we've got a real bloody shot at having a hell of a season. Bloody hell I'm just fucking LOVING where we are and even if it dissipates, I'm happy to be enjoying the moment while I can after 2-3 years of indifference.

  18. Bottom of the league and a laughing stock. The last thing we need is supporters falling out with one another, its too DAB like. NEVER GO FULL DAB! We need to pull together and get behind the team on Saturday. We were reminiscing earlier this week about the Dee-fiant season and how we all dug deep as supporters to help the players get through a mess of a season. We need this, the players need this, it helped when we were 20 points adrift at the bottom, we were all in it together and we all need to be behind the men on the park again! DDYB!

  20. One of my favourite genre of news story is the "Child sent home from school for unacceptable haircut". It's always fun to see a surly faced youth sitting at home in a school uniform pretending to be upset after being sent home from their bog standard comprehensive for breaching the unwritten rules about acceptable trimming. A recent example from Eastwood - https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/local-news/mum-disgusted-school-putting-son-2006210 Disgusted mum! Last year we found out that there was a haircut called "Meet Me At McDonalds" and that it had been banned, entirely justifiably IMO. https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/uk-world-news/school-head-outlaws-meet-mcdonalds-1255844 Apparently it looks like this, I can't help but think that the Jesus and Mary Chain are making a comeback Perhaps more seriously, a school in Fulham attracted accusation of racism sending home a boy for having dreadlocks. The boys mother is a follower of the Rastafarian religion. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-45499584 However, the greatest haircut exclusion story is clearly this kid who cut his hair to look like Sven Goran Eriksson during the 2002 World Cup. http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/uk/newsid_2045000/2045581.stm During the last World Cup a journalist tracked down Sven boy, a Pulitzer surely awaits - https://www.indy100.com/article/sven-goran-eriksson-sven-boy-2018-world-cup-2002-twitter-viral-football-8402281 Have any P&Bers ever been sent home from school for having a nonsensical haircut? Have any P&B teachers ever sent home a horrible little brat for having an idiotic haircut?

  25. The Elvis season with academy players, he individually coached many of them through the games, Mark Stewart especially was like he was playing fifa 18 with him and controlling him by control pad, the likes of Celtic and Rangers getting to European finals in the last 15yr wasnt because they had the best players, they had an effective way of playing more so the Rangers team. We have seen the so many managers come in and save clubs from relegation when rooted to the bottom when it seemed like relegation was impossible to avoid, fuk the season we stayed up Hughes dropped McBride for the 6 out of our last 7 games and we lost only once and saved ourselves from the drop. I am not expecting miracles to go from looking like the worst FFC team I have seen to promotion challengers, a simple bit of organistion via coaching during the week, playing players which makes that organistion glue together match day and we may get somewhere. If you want to stick to doom and gloom and claim coaching doesnt work, where it does well thats your choice. I seriously would give up with Falkirk Fc if I reached your level of doom and gloom tho..... Coaching a formation and tactics can even make the shittest player look half decent tho Mark Millar effect for us under Holt a prime example of similar of above, we had Ollie Durajoiye in the centre of midfield who was never a centre mid or footballer for me, we bring in Mark Millar and we go from the rollercoaster team with results to challengers at the top end, one player can make all the difference and get the best out of the team and it doesnt have to be a Ronaldoesque type player

  26. Thing was though that the short-term signings that Hartley made all looked not too bad. Nelson, Jakubiak and Longridge were all very good, Tumilty and Blair did a job and even Welsh added something. I think it was reasonable then that most of us assumed that he could spot a player and further assumed that the new signings would all be decent. It's mind boggling that they're all as poor as they are!

  30. Go and just f**k off with all your shite. For f**k sake. Have some people forgot just how bad we were at the start of last season? Again just because we’re equally as bad if not worse now does not mean that what we were witnessing the first half of last season was anything approaching acceptable. Houston had his chance to get us up and failed.

  39. Non Premiership SPFL + Highland League/Lowland League Top Flights of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Faroe Islands and Iceland + "National Teams" of Shetland, Orkney, Western Isles and Isle of Man makes 128. Straight knockout tournament. Six rounds. Make it happen. I want my away day trips to Torshaven, Stornoway, Lerwick and Llandundo. (ETA: Although I "want" them I know we'll get put out away to Airdrie United in the first round anyway)

  41. What I've been saying for a while. We are all giving the players pelters but they are, for the most part, being played out of position. I wouldn't be surprised if the ones that have been moved on have been vocal about that fact and his 'wee man huge ego' stepped in and said 'YOU KNOW EVERYTHING NEIL'. No one was expecting points yesterday but I genuinely believe this has been our strongest top flight side for the last two years. They're just being used wrong and clearly his motivational tactics must include waterboarding.

  42. It's amazing the difference in reaction from the established OF "jobs for the boys" media and the newer media out there. If you read any of the football blogs, or the podcasts like the Terrace or whatever, virtually nobody thinks St Mirren were wrong to sack Stubbs. Even on here there has been almost no supporter of any club who didn't think he had to go. These guys seem so detached from the reality of what the average punters think these days. No wonder nobody is reading their newspapers. It was the same when we sacked Rae btw. It'll be the same when Dundee sack McCann as well.

  45. Just wanting to make a wee point on the attendances. Seen a lot of talk on this and the SRE. We’ve jumped from around 1200 odd home core to around 2000 so far this season. Our attedences have been better than ICT, QOS, Morton. Teams who have been here cemented in the league for years, been in the Premiership and a Scottish Cup winner. The idea of 3000 home fans is pie in the sky 6 games into the season. IF we sustain ourselves in this league and then look to push on, I can see 2500 core support like back in the Dalziel days. Long way to go for that though. First time in a long time we’ve had over 1000 ST holders.
