  1. There's a guy in my office who just looks like he does stinking farts so it's pretty much open-season for everyone else as our dear colleague absorbs all blame. I do feel quite sorry for him as he's regularly chastised for it, but he provides a vital service for the office. A fartyr, if you will.

  2. Supporting Falkirk must be completely and utterly joyless for you. You didnt like the way Houston did things. We have now flipped it on its head and embarked on what can best be described as a project. 2 league games into that project, you have declared it fucked, and written off a group of players, all of whom I have seen positive stuff from except Brough who I havent seen at all. 2 league games. Thats all anyone gets before you are back to this. I dont think it makes me a "happy clapper" to point out how fucking ridiculous this is. Partick was turgid in the first half and better but not great in the second. Couple of lamentable misses ultimately meant we werent able to claw our way back into it. The above 2 sentences are eerily reminiscent of multiple performances in Houstons last full season. I just dont understand whats in it for you. Why keep doing it to yourself?

  6. Okay then. It's time to explain the quiz I said I would start in July. I'm more or less on time. Scotland has had a history which has often seen rebellion and war. Picts vs Gaels, Jacobites vs Williamites, clan vs clan, Nationalists vs Unionists. These are just a few of the disputes which have divided and shaped a nation. Scottish football, too, has seen its fair share of conflict. We can probably all remember many great battles between Hibs and Hearts, Celtic and Rangers, Dundee and United and, most violent of all, Clyde fans and... other Clyde fans. No rivalry has captured the imagination though quite like this one. A sheer, unadulterated hatred which has fractured Scottish society and brought all of Pie and Bovril to its knees. I talk, of course, of the war between...

  7. What's a "Happy Clapper" here, anyone who isn't having a meltdown and calling for the entire club to be ripped apart from top to bottom after two single goal defeats?

  8. The Weirs have invested in the future of the club with their support of the Academy. They are now investing, through their property company, in the new training complex. I sincerely hope they don't get involved in the purchase of players. I don't want us to be a club that buys its way out of trouble.

  9. It’s been well documented that Hartley wasn’t aware of the full extent of our issues once Houston left, when he first came in. He had to get rid of the bad apples and bring in his own. I’m sure someone with more time/better knowledge of the subject will confirm my suspicion that from a certain point onwards (may have been start of the calendar year, or after January transfer window closed), the only team who had a better points per game record than ourselves was St Mirren. If Brechin weren’t in the league is the biggest ‘if yer auntie had baws’ I’ve seen on this thread in a while. However, despite last seasons relative success under the circumstances, this season has been fairly disastrous so far. The biggest disappointment is that there appears to be no shining light that indicates it’s going to turn around. We’ve not been unlucky in defeat, we’ve been dreadful at times. Our recruitment, whilst exciting at the time, looks inconsistent if not terrible. It’s still early, but my fear and expectation is that if we lose on Saturday, we will have 0 points after 5 games going forward, and questions should be asked about the manager at that point.

  18. I don't think Moyes would, suddenly, have turned Man U into what Man City are now but there's no doubt he was harshly treated in my mind. I know folk say "He took the champions down to 7th" but there's a good bit of mitigating circumstances in that. The squad he inherited had just lost Paul Pogba for a pittance and seen the retirement of Paul Scholes so had no midfield. His attempts to fix the gaps in midfield were hindered by Ed Woodward being about as useful as a chocolate teapot who let three or four signings Moyes wanted slip out of their grasp. The first teamers Evra, Ferdinand, Vidic, Valencia, Carrick, Young, Rooney, Giggs and van Persie were already past their peak (even if Young has since reinvented himself as a full back). The laughably poor attempts of Ferdinand and Vidic when they left Man U suggest they were already past it but had monstrous egos. When Moyes wanted to input his own style of play and work around the fact that Vidic and Ferdinand were slower he was looking to get them to defend in a way similar to his Everton team. The story goes Vidic refused to take part as, as has been mentioned, he took offence at being asked to watch videos of how other teams defended. Dick. Of the first team members left in the squad who were still under 30 he had de Gea, Rafael, Jones, Evans, Smalling, Lindegaard, Welbeck, Cleverly and Kagawa. Pile of shite. That's a decent base in defence but there is nothing upfront or in midfield. It's a huge rebuilding job. He's trying to imprint his own style of play, bring through younger players (who, it turns out, are nowhere near good enough), gradually ease out the ageing players (while keeping them happy) and is trusting a novice Ed Woodward to complete his signing targets. So his best players were past it, his young players weren't good enough, the club failed at signing players and he was undermined from the start by the press and his own players.

  19. He was outstanding against Burnley at home apart from one lapse in concentration which unfortunately cost a goal. Something you’d expect from a young centre half. Please stop pretending you’ve watched a lot of him, I guarantee you haven’t.

  29. I’ve no idea why John McGinn and Scott McKenna are continuingly being compared by folk on here, particularly Rangers fans. Completely different players, different positions, different lengths of contract at their clubs, different ages. The are both Scottish and play football, but that’s about it.

  30. It's actually been £200k/£250k on a per year basis. The funding announcements have generally covered several years at a time. We didn't put any niceties in our job advert for development squad physio when both Ryan Wilkie and Ross Anderson left. Or when we changed Commercial Manager last summer. Or in the advert for Chief Exec(although obviously there was the stand alone announcement due to the nature of where Ian Maxwell was headed and the SFA were unveiling him). The current advert for a Lead Physiotherapist is as the result of the current incumbant handing in his notice having been offered a better paying job. The line "subject to international clearance/subject to SFA approval" is a standard in every signing we've made this summer, and over the last few I imagine without going back. It's pretty standard - for example when we signed Mutombo we could not have received clearance due to his previous Club going bust and it potentially being tough to find officials from that Club to verify documentation.

  31. Had about a week of glorious almost banana-free pages on the Trump thread because no-one responded. I’ve been guilty of it in the past too, but it’s pointless trying to engage as he doesn’t have any actual desire to debate, he’s just a troll. Scroll right on past the terrible memes and #triggered and he’ll soon get bored with the politics threads when he doesn’t get any bites.

  36. Not having a dig BPM, but you seem to change your mind about club staff quite often and attack them on a whim. It wasn't that long ago you were praising the CEO, particularly about his openness when he was releasing his regular updates on the state of the club. Now you seem to have bracketed him along with the owners as a target for stick. Another example of this would be the Commercial Director. He was in your sights for several years and now his department are frequently praised online by yourself. What's changed? I get your disillusionment with the manager. He seemed to do everything that many of us fans wanted, such as bringing in players from outwith Central Scotland, binning those who we didn't think were good enough and starting again from scratch. We had an exciting summer of new signings and suddenly they haven't hit the ground running and the flak is flying. Fair enough. PH is judged on results and performances so at the moment any criticism of him is understandable. From where I sit though, all the other two have done is backed him to the hilt, including tightening the belt. You've previously highlighted a couple of internal issues which I think were caused by this but that's standard for any workplace. Nobody can keep everybody happy all the time. The academy decision was a biggie and affected so many people that I wouldn't criticise anyone who were against the CEO and Chair because of it. Is that your only reason for having a go and if not what else have they done wrong in your eyes?

  39. GERS measures Scotland in union...ie we are down as paying for lots of things we shouldn't be and getting a fudged guestimate report on income generated. A more accurate representation of the potential of an independent Scottish economy can be gleaned through GNI. https://fraserofallander.org/scottish-economy/gross-national-income-statistics-for-scotland-a-net-outflow-of-scottish-income/amp/ At present the Scottish economy is a net exporter of wealth to the UK and the rest of the world.

  43. Mohsni would be a massive upgrade on every other defender at the club, as he was last season. Absolutely right that we should have kept going whilst there was still a chance that he'd re-sign. Miller, on the other hand, can fuck right off. Not because he used to be a Rangers player but because he's a 38 year old disruptive bell-end.

  44. My personal favorite was when I was a kid, in P5 I think. Our teacher was a Bible basher and we had to say the Lord's Prayer before each class. During one such occasion I let an absolute ripper go. It was magnificent, several seconds long and at least two tone changes. Unfortunately there was no way of blaming anyone else, as I was pretty much crying with laughter. Got quite the punishment exercise for that one [emoji38]

It's all nonsense imo I find it hard to understand this widespread negative image We go to grounds in good numbers spend our money and 99 9% of the time without the hint of bother but on here you would think we turn up with a hibernian band singing rebels songs all afternoon it's biggest myth I have ever known.
