  1. 74 years old, first game at Dens, sorry now Kilmac Stadium at Dens was 1950, 6 years old with two mates from Liff Road school and we walked to and from Lochee along the Strathie. This is my first post on any site, and I am moved to do this because of the utter shite I have just watched today on the hallowed turf. I have seen the ultimate of winning the league, getting to the semi of the European cup (against all the odds), Texaco cup exploits, now called the UEFA cup etc, etc, etc. All the highs, and I thought, all the lows, which are too many to mention. However, tonight I am so upset at today’s display and the humiliation of losing to a Championship team who played us off the park in one on one battles, team tactics, spirit, and effort,I have to say that I have NEVER seen such a disjointed or uninspired display by any Dundee FC team I have seen.I have never booed or criticised or given grief to any DFC player home or away. I have always given encouragement and will continue to do so because I believe they are doing their best and I know this ( even having a bad game) will raise their game. Today’s shambles is down to the manager. I will not criticise any player because they are playing to our managers instruction which are so obviously flawed. I will criticise Mr McCann because I think he has it so wrong. So wrong. Please rethink it Mr McCann. Are you the only one not to see it.

  2. Hopefully he managed to keep his willy in his pants and his curtains closed whilst doing this dance. We know what he's like.

  4. Just completed my first Kiltwalk in Dundee. 25.4 miles and only one blister at the end of it. On my way to raising over £400 for FDAMH which is topped up by 40% by the Tom hunter foundation. Good days work.

  5. Not having this "Baird is better when he has an experienced defender next to him". He's 22, he's played 100 games or so for us. He should be more than capable and be able to organise himself. He's making basic errors, unrelated to his playing partner which isn't a good sign. Harry Davis going is a massive loss and we haven't replaced him with quality, although Jones looked decent. Today I felt one of the many issues was the FBs are getting exposed by the lack of width in the team. Last year our wide men came back and helped our FBs. GMS had the freedom of the park and Coulson was hung out to dry. Who was in front of him? Mullen- a striker, or Magennis who was playing narrow. Wrong formation, and exposes the issue that we haven't replaced Morgan or got any wide mids/wingers.

  6. This thread should be renamed “I am willing to post utter pish in order to draw attention to myself”. Then again, there’s a few threads like that.

  7. I’m putting myself forward for the manager role chaps. I’m 36, was a terrible player in my day but I won’t play Moussa or Hamilton. Thank you.

  8. When we beat Aberdeen 5-1 Willie Miller couldn't name half the goalscorers, said it was an absolutely dreadful match, and barely described anything other than the goals. Brian Easton scored a thirty yard volley that was described as a "hopeful hit from outside the box" He's an absolutely fucking awful pundit when he's commentating on Aberdeen, and is exactly the same as Pat Bonner in that he only cares about one team involved.

  9. Agreed. Final game of the season for my daughter's U8 team today. Not that they keep a track of results at this age group but they've gone W0 D1 L13 GF0 GA lots. Today we were playing a team we'd previously beaten in a Gala Day so hopes were high. They played well and were heading for a scoreless draw until they conceded a goal with the last fucking kick of the fucking game. I booed them off the park.

  14. Yep. People who want their team to play ‘the right way’ are fucking idiots. The sole purpose is to win the match. How you do it it irrelevant.

  19. Your club died m8. What's here is not the club that was here pre-2012. It is merely taking on the form of the previous one. A bit like how todays jobby takes on a similar form to yesterdays jobby. Still 2 different jobbies however.

  20. I can't really answer you that, but I know a guy who says his wife is his best friend and he licks her bumhole on occasion. If dog is a man's best friend then I don't really see the difference. At the end of the day, a bumhole is a bumhole.

  22. I went along yesterday after not being able to make the Peterhead game. Rovers were a lot better than I'd anticipated. For me, the standout player was deservedly given MOTM, the young wing back Lawrence McMahon. Very promising. The one time he was badly caught out he instantly made up for it. McGeouch was good too and Gracie came the closest to scoring when he came on with a lovely turn and shot. Maybe Gracie and Cunningham would be a good option together although you'll probably tell me that's been tried already. Elgin were probably behind on possession but had the best efforts on goal. Potts made a brilliant save from Beattie and then there was the bizarre miss when goalie and defender collided, the player went round them, set up his team mate with an open goal except for one Rovers defender bang in the centre of it and he hits it straight at him! The programme is another very good effort but it really should have a list of fixtures. Nothing whatsoever about upcoming matches. Sad to see the crowd was only 275. I dread to think what it might be if you drop down. I wish you all the best for the rest of the season and I'll no doubt be back soon.

  23. Every time I've spoken to Buchanan I've found him to be exceptionally polite and easy to speak to. It hasn't really worked out for him so far at the Rovers but to be fair to the player, he spent most of last season having high balls shelled at his heid. That's similar to asking Kevin Byers to write a book on how to pick up supermodels. We're only three games in to this season so I'm willing to give him a wee bit of time yet.

  24. I've had time to reflect on the game and I'm not as much of a seething mess as I was a couple of hours ago, but my feelings regarding McCann haven't changed. It's hard to dislike the guy because he talks such a good game, but we're a poor team and pretty much always have been since he's taken charge. The way he wants to play football is admirable but he's not got the abilities to successfully pull it off and it's a struggle to think of occasions where his in-game management have turned a game in our favour. We were absolutely clueless today and so was he. I don't think we're at any point ever going to be rooted at the bottom of the table, but we're always going to be mediocre as f**k and battling relegation when he's in charge. Crowds are going to dwindle at home because people are bored out of their skulls watching us playing horrendous football where we look devoid of any idea or gameplan. I know there's no chance I won't, but I was sitting watching that today thinking that I couldn't be fucked to go through to Perth and have my 4th Saturday in a row being shat on and getting wound up by the manner which we lost. If that's from someone who spends most of their time on their phone reading a Scottish football forum about Dundee and will pretty much buy a season ticket in spite of whatever shite's on the park, then there's absolutely no chance that fans who don't attend as much are going to get converted into regulars. It's demoralising as f**k and that's before you even go into the fact that we've been knocked out of what's 1 of 2 chances a year to get some real excitement around the place and actually allow ourselves to dream that we might not once embarrass ourselves in cup competitions. It basically comes down to whether or not another manager could get us playing better and picking up more points and IMO there's no doubt about it whatsoever so it's an easy decision. Cheers Neil, you're a likeable guy and will always be welcome here but you're never a football manager. Robbie Neilson or David Hopkin please.

  25. The madness of Livingston FC is entertaining. The way it causes seethe amongst fans of other clubs is hilarious too. I have nothing but admiration for Livi fans. Nonsense much worse than this happens to their club all the time and it would be an easy option to follow the Old Firm for some reflected glory like many others all over Scotland. They've lost a lot of fans from their first spell in the SPL but their fans who stuck by them through the administrations and demotions deserve their recent success. Miller is a twat anyway but I hope Hopkin waits for the United job.

  26. He's squared up to Lee Miller in the dressing room, shat it, couldn't get his missus on the phone to do his fighting for him, so he's quit. Either that or the coaches weren't cutting him in. One of the two.

  28. Must admit a big improvement on what I seen two weeks ago at Edinburgh City. Defence looked a lot more tighter, you got the ball down and tried to play a bit football instead of shelling it continually and Rovers looked organised. Only worrying point for me is the final third because from a neutral point of view despite plenty of endeavour to get there not a lot was happening when they got there. A couple of big games coming up and if you can grab a win or two your back in the mix.

  31. Exactly the kind of thing which has happened to numerous clubs in leagues at all levels, e.g. Rangers, Hearts, Livingston, Airdrie et al. My own club has also had financial problems. They don’t reflect well on the people in charge of the finances at the club would be my first observation.

  32. You would rather have a TV pundit who's shown no indication of being a real manager than the guy who pissed the Championship by 20+ points ahead of Rangers & Hibs then waltzed into third in the top flight with Hearts, or the manager who took Livingston to second place in the Championship and promotion with the 8th biggest budget in that league? Why?

  35. I wouldn’t be at all shocked if Robbie got fed up and walked tbh. He’s had no help whatsoever from the running joke that is the board, and could walk back into a decent junior outfit with his name intact. The truth is the level even in these leagues is way above junior. The set ups are getting closer but you still need to be at the races in the second division. The board is the thing. Or rather, not the real thing. Who brings in finance at Berwick? Who truly actually puts money into our club. Someone answer me that. Robbie must pull his hair out, because he gets it. He cares. If the directors actually did some serious work to support him, instead propping up the bar at away matches,we may actually be taken seriously.

  36. Wedderburn’s willingness to collect the ball from the back line and then, more importantly, play a forward pass was pretty refreshing. Good range of passing, a few reverses and cross fields. Thought he did well. Cannae run, though.

  39. For the first time ever, I agree with something that Drunkardine says, but in a minor way. Rangers weren’t ‘forced’ to join the bottom tier. If the word ‘forced’ is to be used then it should be that Rangers ‘forced’ themselves into the bottom tier by way of their actions, actions they have still never properly apologised for or squared up for. Rangers, and their fans, were desperate to stay in the SFL at the time. Funnily enough, when 10 teams voted against the Newco getting back into the top league the club, and it’s fans only really singled out Dundee Utd and Celtic for that unique style of Rangers backlash, which was and still is pretty pathetic. You could say that all the other SFL clubs were ‘forced’ to make a decision that they shouldn’t have had to make. Rangers should’ve done this of their own accord. If they weren’t desperate to get back into the top league then why did they make such a song and dance about it. Cue the next vote. The lower 3 division’s teams were asked to allow Newco (as they then became) to leapfrog the process and get straight into the first division. Again, Newco fans were desperate to get in but it was not to be as the vote went against them. It was only at this point did Newco fans start saying they didn’t want it to happen anyway which is a pretty mute point seeing as the only real option was to start afresh as a new team in the bottom league. Had they been saying this from the very start I may have had some respect for them. So, it became the fact that the new boys of Scottish football had no option other than start afresh in the bottom tier. Poor them. They then act like it’s what they wanted all along, quoting integrity and other words. At no point did they acknowledge their wrongdoings properly. The cooked up some shit story about journeys and helping other clubs when in fact everything they had done up till then was quite the opposite. Now they’re back, where they say they belong. Spouting the usual sectarian pish at every opportunity with a chairman who has galvanised the ‘we were hard done by’ line. The authorities bent over backwards to help them throughout yet Newco have a vandetta against them. Worth noting however that every team who had to vote concerning this shit storm of a club was well within their rights to vote whatever way they wanted. Newco’s narrative was poor. I don’t like the Tories but it doesn’t mean I’ll go after their representatives and such like at every opportunity. Also worth noting that whilst Newco singled out Celtic and Dundee Utd for ‘special treatment’, they didn’t apply the same to every other club who voted against them and ultimately in the interests of integrity, of which Newco have none. In a nutshell, Newco can’t handle what they done to themselves, made harder by the fact that they were no longer the establishment club, and also can’t handle the fact that all other clubs voted against them which was the right thing to do. They now clasp this agenda so tightly because they just don’t have it in them to admit the truth; they pissed on their own chips, were found out and nobody wanted to make allowances for them. So, in summary, Kincy was slightly right but in general still full of shite and one of the Newco fans who can’t handle it either, that’s why he posts up so much shite on here to perpetuate the twisted narrative he has become so fond of. Oh, and poor old Spartans....

  47. Disappointing day for us, no complaints about result at all, 3-0 maybe slightly harsh Kilwinning side I played against today are the best side I’ve faced in 6/7 years playing junior football, they have everything. Manager down on a tractor before the game cutting the grass also, different class, thing that pleased me (if at all I can be pleased after result) was 20mins after the game, the pitch must have had 20/30 kids on it, boys girls, all ages, a real fantastic advert for football at this level, credit where it’s due, well done to all and good luck for season.
