  1. 74 years old, first game at Dens, sorry now Kilmac Stadium at Dens was 1950, 6 years old with two mates from Liff Road school and we walked to and from Lochee along the Strathie. This is my first post on any site, and I am moved to do this because of the utter shite I have just watched today on the hallowed turf. I have seen the ultimate of winning the league, getting to the semi of the European cup (against all the odds), Texaco cup exploits, now called the UEFA cup etc, etc, etc. All the highs, and I thought, all the lows, which are too many to mention. However, tonight I am so upset at today’s display and the humiliation of losing to a Championship team who played us off the park in one on one battles, team tactics, spirit, and effort,I have to say that I have NEVER seen such a disjointed or uninspired display by any Dundee FC team I have seen.I have never booed or criticised or given grief to any DFC player home or away. I have always given encouragement and will continue to do so because I believe they are doing their best and I know this ( even having a bad game) will raise their game. Today’s shambles is down to the manager. I will not criticise any player because they are playing to our managers instruction which are so obviously flawed. I will criticise Mr McCann because I think he has it so wrong. So wrong. Please rethink it Mr McCann. Are you the only one not to see it.

  2. I've had time to reflect on the game and I'm not as much of a seething mess as I was a couple of hours ago, but my feelings regarding McCann haven't changed. It's hard to dislike the guy because he talks such a good game, but we're a poor team and pretty much always have been since he's taken charge. The way he wants to play football is admirable but he's not got the abilities to successfully pull it off and it's a struggle to think of occasions where his in-game management have turned a game in our favour. We were absolutely clueless today and so was he. I don't think we're at any point ever going to be rooted at the bottom of the table, but we're always going to be mediocre as f**k and battling relegation when he's in charge. Crowds are going to dwindle at home because people are bored out of their skulls watching us playing horrendous football where we look devoid of any idea or gameplan. I know there's no chance I won't, but I was sitting watching that today thinking that I couldn't be fucked to go through to Perth and have my 4th Saturday in a row being shat on and getting wound up by the manner which we lost. If that's from someone who spends most of their time on their phone reading a Scottish football forum about Dundee and will pretty much buy a season ticket in spite of whatever shite's on the park, then there's absolutely no chance that fans who don't attend as much are going to get converted into regulars. It's demoralising as f**k and that's before you even go into the fact that we've been knocked out of what's 1 of 2 chances a year to get some real excitement around the place and actually allow ourselves to dream that we might not once embarrass ourselves in cup competitions. It basically comes down to whether or not another manager could get us playing better and picking up more points and IMO there's no doubt about it whatsoever so it's an easy decision. Cheers Neil, you're a likeable guy and will always be welcome here but you're never a football manager. Robbie Neilson or David Hopkin please.

  6. So, two cup games at home to lower league opposition, two straightforward defeats without scoring. Two defeats in the league, one goal scored. Paying a fee for a goalkeeper who is arguably no better or poorer than the incumbent. Shambolic team selection, chopping and changing the tactics and formation with seemingly no rhyme or reason, and what I consider to be a complete and utter under-perfomance with the squad at his disposal last season. Abrasive in the media, apparently hot-headed behind the scenes, already been in trouble with the authorities. It must be obvious to those in charge they've made a horrendous mistake in appointing McCann, Get him fired right now.

  7. I actually think out of our signings Harrison is the one who does care. He's not fast or fancy, you get exactly what it says on the tin with him and he knows his limitations. I may be completely off the mark but he strikes me as someone who has come up here to get away from issues he's had down south and i think he is desperate to do well. For me he is future captain material. My mates think he's mince but I don't.

  11. Well done today lads - gave us a lesson in every department. Hopefully this pushes our shite manager out of the door.

  12. To be fair to Arch Stanton, he'd have no way of knowing that. Craigieboy is the man though. The time he posted a list of about 100 Brazilian footballers on Kickback is one of my favourite internet moments ever.

  13. Julen didn't want to play out from the back, McCann gets on at him, Julen cries, McCann apologises, Julen says he still wont do it because he is too slow, Julen dropped and cries, McCann drops Bain, Julen cries, McCann goes round for a cuppa but refuses to try Julen's lemon drizzle, Julen cries, Julen leaves the club, The Daily Record call and.... Julen cries. FFS man up Julen.

  16. Some boy on .net suggesting we are after 35 year old Steve Sidwell, who has been out injured for a year. Imagine a midfield of Whittaker and Sidwell. The passing. The movement. The tempo.

  19. Just desperately want to avoid Rangers and Celtic. We have had to put up with the horrendous Rangers support enough and don’t really fancy Celtic without our first choice keeper.

  20. I must be in the minority here but Baird for me is nowhere near good enough for this level. As are one or two others. Stubbs has to sort out this squad pronto or we are heading back to the championship in jig time.

  21. Not Morgan but the player starts for Celtic today.

  22. McCann might be stubborn and prone to throwing a benny, but at least he's getting rid of the dead weight shite Hartley signed, eh Julen?

  25. I think Harrison will be the longest lasting out of this lot. He can tackle, head the ball and run 3 yards without falling down unlike pretty-boy Dallison.

  27. I've written a strongly worded letter to the BBC about how the new colour scheme again reveals their clear and obvious bias towards all things Alloa Athletic. It's so blatant now and is getting quite out of hand.

  28. I think it’s a brilliant deal. The Finnish club only has a few games left, can’t get relegated or win the league. Now they won’t have to pay him for the rest of their season and through their off season. The guy is match fit, ready to play. Maybe we don’t have the money they want right now, or we don’t want to take the risk. This way we get a really good look at him and then make decision. He’s played for the Finnish national team after all. Yes we would like a couple more signings but we don’t have an unlimited budget nor do we want anymore mistakes. Yes we’ve lost our first 2 games but to me we look a lot better than we did 12 months ago in virtually every area, bar up front. Hopefully Benji is the man.

  31. Don’t think it can be overstated how much we’re missing Harry Davis, probably even more than Morgan. We are so fragile in defence.

  32. If the players put in as much effort as Darvel Legend does on here they'd be top of the league.

  33. I love McCann and I love his style and his complete will to win but that was his moment there just like Hartley's was against Aberdeen at home. Time to go.

  34. I’ve stuck up for McCann time and again on here but today is sackable and should happen. Disgraceful tactics, performance and urgency.

  37. Genuine question, matching this years new signings v their rough equivalent from last year (either players who have left or players currently not playing regularly ), how many of them do you reckon have improved on what we had? Fasan v Thompson Harrison v Grant Dallison v Watson Brough v Robson Russell v Kidd Paton v Taiwo Petravicius v Harris Irving v Sibbald Greenwood v Hippolyte Owen-Evans v McKee Sammut v Welsh Froxilias v Longridge Turner v O'Hara Lewis v Austin Mackin v Miller Haber v Loy

  41. I agree, he may not be the most skillful player we`ve had but he`s certainly giving 100%. When we thought we had equalised against ICT, you could see what it meant to the players. I just hope we can find a system that suits the personnel we have very soon before that spirit gets knocked out of them.

  42. Toughen up Julen FFS. Injuries and daft penalties curtailed his time at Dens, better not to look at the manager to blame. An injury prone centrehalf was never getting a new deal. I wonder how Julen would’ve coped with Lennon or Levein. There’s usually a good cop bad cop policy between manager and his assistant.

  43. We've all heard before about his man management skills so this is really no surprise. If the team were performing better players might listen a bit more, but if you're losing, it's inevitable that some are going to think he's the issue and if he's losing his racket to the extent he's needing to apologise then that's going to go hand in hand with some of them losing respect for the guy. And there's really no argument about the tactics thing, IMO. Even though I like Neil, I think Julen's spoken really well and with last season's evidence would side with him on this part. It's basically an admission that a bunch of players in the dressing room don't rate/respect him. Hopefully he learns from last season's mistakes.

  48. So, following this logic, let's say for the sake of the argument that Sportsound ever bothered to discuss the lower leagues on a midweek show. If at the end of last season they had a discussion about Brechin going the whole season without winning a game, would it be evidence that the BBC is biased against Brechin if none of the pundits on the show said they'd had a good season? They'd only be focusing on the negative after all. This complete misunderstanding of what balance means from other idiots like you is what leads to calls for the BBC to give equal coverage to flat earthers, anti-vaxxers and climate change deniers. That's not balance, it's pandering to morons over people who understand basic facts and arguments.
