  1. So, following this logic, let's say for the sake of the argument that Sportsound ever bothered to discuss the lower leagues on a midweek show. If at the end of last season they had a discussion about Brechin going the whole season without winning a game, would it be evidence that the BBC is biased against Brechin if none of the pundits on the show said they'd had a good season? They'd only be focusing on the negative after all. This complete misunderstanding of what balance means from other idiots like you is what leads to calls for the BBC to give equal coverage to flat earthers, anti-vaxxers and climate change deniers. That's not balance, it's pandering to morons over people who understand basic facts and arguments.

  11. Aye, it's fantastic wearing 8 layers to go and watch the football. Get a jacket? That's your advice to enjoy the winter? I've also really missed getting up 15 minutes earlier every morning just to scrape ice off my car. Winter is pish in every single way, genuinely don't think it has one redeeming feature. I've genuinely never experienced heat in Scotland where I've had to strip down to my drawers in a public place. Sunny weather allows you to do things outside in comfort, winter weather allows you to sit at home be miserable as f**k.

  12. After Hartley's comments in his interview I think he will stick to the 3 at the back now so with that in mind my lineup would be. Unfortunately I can't fit Greenwood in there. On the plus side I only have 1 player out of position!

  14. I honestly don't think we are a million miles away player wise; it's more the Paul Hartley's team selection, strategy and team shape I am more concerned about. The team look lost when out on the park with little direction or understanding of how PH wants them to play. We were absolutely disjointed against PTFC with no one apart from Irving willing to take any responsibility. Fasan McGhee - Muirhead - Harrison - Russell/Robson Greenwood - Paton - Irving - Robson/Russell Haber - Lewis Players like TOE may come good with more experience. He reminds me slightly of Leahy when he first joined in the respect you could see he was at a decent level but never looked involved or influencing a game. Fasan in goal has been pretty comfortable, one of the better signings imo. His distribution is excellent and I can't think of any of the league goals you'd expect him to be saving.

  18. Alloa probably will finish 10th but they won't go down easily, they seem to be well drilled on getting a chance of a result and will shock a few, first game of the season v County tho with all the pressure on County and everyone bar us in championship raised their game on the opening league game I'd heard through a decent contact he was on 1700, remember he turned down premier league St Mirren to stay with us in the championship. The crowd turned in our first league cup game, we do have a fan base of unrealistic mentalists on one hand but on the other we have been sold up the river by management and board. I personally don't think Hartley is the answer as he believes fancy formations are key, Houston did also but he got that knocked out of him in weeks and only doctored versus genuine big boys in hearts Hibs rangers, when you line up v seaside leagues with one up top, questions should be asked. 3 at the back rules out one of the better signings in greenwood, still Robson does create but leaves greenwood a useless sub till we change formation. 3-5-2 also suits Froxy, can't see a 4-4-2 suiting him. I'd think most of us want to see Lewis and Haber try and form a partnership, so the top end is sorted as well as Fasan in goals, its the other 8 players where there are problems, I'd say only Irving and possibly Robson has everyone's vote using the basis that we can only play greenwood in a 4-4-2 The more I think about it our squad is a mess, Hartley suggested players playing multiple positions a bonus but we rule out creativity in formations ruling out Froxy or greenwood. The main thing generally about this league is you usually have one formation if you are gonna win it, its not like the top league for clubs our size or having Hibs hearts rangers in the league where formation changes make a huge difference. I personally feel we should line up 2 up top against everyone, even if its one behind which Hartley is keen on against everyone in this league, home and away. There isn't the Hibs hearts rangers no more and we shouldn't be afraid to go head to head with anyone

  20. Between this, and your petted lip on the Euro boards, you're having a bit of a nightmare here. What kind of planet are you on when you petulantly demand that the media "constructively criticise" a football match? Your team have failed to organise a defence suitable for their task for years. Their chickens came home to roost again on Tuesday night and they got rightly criticised for it. You've got Partick Thistle at the weekend. Move on. You don't have a divine right for the BBC to apply the sponge to your skint knee. This is exactly the kind of meaningless OF self-entitlement that Michael Stewart was criticising Charlie Adam for.

  22. I wish I knew enough about football to know after 2 league games that this squad is a bottom 4 squad. Maybe I wouldnt be toiling away doing 12 hour nightshifts for 2 weeks solid to get coin. I would no doubt be chief scout for Barcelona or Falkirk

  23. I had about 5 meltdowns in the first half against Thistle so I'm a massive hypocrite, but I can't help feeling there is a bit of an overreaction here if we look at the reality of where we are. League Cup - Won 2 Lost 2 - the only game we got a worse result than we'd have expected was the opening game defeat to Montrose, if we'd won that we'd have gone through. The other defeat was a 1 goal away defeat to a top flight side. Challenge Cup - Through narrowly, in a game we were expected to win League - Two defeats by 1 goal The start has been poor, and I appreciate that the 'eye test' has been worse than the results on paper, but it's hardly a crisis at this stage. I thought we played OK against Inverness over the piece (4/10 if I had to score it). Partick Thistle was a disgrace. The team selections have been bizarre and some of the players look lost and/or abysmal (Petravicius, Mackin, Dallison to name the worst offenders), but even the better players will take a little while to bed in. My biggest fear is that the strength in depth of the league this year means it's going to be unforgiving every single week.

  28. Completely agree. I think you’ve been the voice of reason thus far. I’m not concerned by the apparent lack of experience of Stubbs’ signings. Every signing is a gamble whether they’ve played 3 games or 300 games. Stubbs hasn’t been given a fair chance and people are looking to jump on every little thing he has done. I think the players has told can go and has already let go have been good decisions. Better understanding between the defence and we can push on. We were in limbo for a few weeks while Jack Ross spoke to every club in the land and Stubbs got up to speed with the squad that remained. No reason to be concerned with the squad not yet finished.

  30. To be fair, he never once said no to Nabi. He kept him the whole pre-season even taking him to Portugal with the squad. He appeared in a friendly for St Mirren on a night we were in LC action. He was back with our squad the next day. Boy was hunting for employment, it's like me attending an interview for somewhere whilst currently working as a temp elsewhere waiting to see if I'll receive a contract. Nothing wrong was done by either party.

  32. For the last 20 years when money has become seriously significant: the Big 4 have a 95% success rate. 19 out of 20. 9 different clubs won it but just 5 clubs shared 16 titles. 1 other finalist came from outside the Big 4 (and that was France, one of the Big 5) The 20 years before that The Big 4 have a 70% success rate 14 out of 20 15 different clubs won it but there were only 4 multiple winners and they only won 9 titles and one of them was Nottingham Forest! (5 other finalists came from outside the Big 4 (1 from France, 4 from diddy nations)) For him to lump Marid’s early successes in as proof that money doesn’t talk is either disingenuous or he is seriously ignorant of history, both generally and football.

  33. There's obviously a balance to be struck and it's probably unnecessary and counter productive to be too prescriptive about where someone lives. That being said, there's a clear and obvious benefit to a professional athlete minimising travel time. 25 miles is a decent commute to and from work every day. 30 miles probably is too. I commute 30 miles each way and it's bearable. 50 miles/60 miles/ however far it was that Bell was commuting is clearly not going to beneficial though to your fitness. I don't think that's controversial. Apparently we had guys last season who didn't even train with the club a few days a week because of the travel. That's the sort of shit you get with part time and amateur teams. We might be at a low ebb (clearly) but that's no reason to accept sloppy preparation. Against that there will be players who we miss out on because they're not willing to relocate. Presumably the club feel that's a price worth paying for better preparation and team spirit.

  34. I've been critical of Sammut so far but I'd maybe have him in for Paton as defensive mid and see if he can dictate things a bit better without Paton in the team.

  35. His first choice is to play higher up the leagues. His second choice was to be an automatic starter in a top EoSFL side but that wasn't going to happen at Bo'ness. So now he looks prepared to drop his standards and join a struggling side where he will look like a thoroughbred in a field of donkeys.

Wearing every item of clothing you own to go to the shop and still freezing your bollocks off? Aye, canny wait.

  37. At the end of the season the players were told on the Thursday before the final league game if they were being released. I know because I was in the club that day, and was in the following day and shook hands with some of them as they said their goodbyes to the staff. None of them knew beforehand that they were going. Not unless they, and various staff members I spoke to in the preceding days, were lying to me. I'm not quite so sure about the departures in the January window. However, I had a long conversation with Fash two days after Christmas at the Junior Bairns Day and he didn't seem to have any idea that he was going to be released within the week. There was a also a conversation reported by fans on social media in which Balatoni was heard bemoaning in Reception that his contract was up tomorrow and he had no idea what was happening. And the reported conversations with Miller & Kerr on Christmas Eve in which they were told their time was up. For those reasons I find it very, very unlikely that players were told in November. Can I ask what your basis is for making such a claim?

  38. I actually think we do need a defensive mid to be honest. We didn't really need one in the championship, but I think at the moment the CBs are too exposed, especially with the full backs pushing on, and McGinn isn't really a holding midfielder, not in the way someone like Goodwin was. I think it will give us more flexibility game to game to adjust to the opposition and make us a bit more solid.

  40. I fail to see why a guy who had a history of black-outs decided it was a good idea to drive a lorry. You can argue that he needs a a job like everyone else and thus he can be given sympathy for keeping quiet, I would argue that he was hardly a rocket scientist and could probably have done any number of jobs that wouldn't put the public at risk. His actions after the crash mark him out as a complete wrong yin so I find any sympathy for him quite distasteful. He's a c**t.
