  1. Was home too late last night to do a proper summary on the game last night and I am now bored at work so i'll fire one out the now for anyone interested in how we got on. I was really pleased with the balance of the team especially in the first half of the game and it is quite obvious to see Hartley is trying to add as much width as possible to the side with Petra definitely being the main man for that. He had a really good game and showed some quality control and touches in tight space on the wing. It also looked like (at times) like we are going to try and play out from the keeper with Fasan always keen to play it short which I prefer. Looking at the first half I wouldn't be surprised if McGhee is being looked at as the RWB as the trialist was pretty rotten imo unless there is someone else in the pipeline. Robson was a real threat in spells and was playing really high up most of the game which is pleasing because I haven't seen that consistently since Leahy. Harrison could as someone actually predicted a while back be our diamond in the rough, clearly lacks in pace but is so comfortable on the ball and seemed to always find his man with his balls out from the back. Sammut is a very good passer of the ball and will probably just take a while to get up to the speed of men's football. Paton is clearly a very limited footballer but sounded like a very good leader for the young lads and he absolutely crunched GMS which was quite funny. Froxy is gonna frustrate us all season but there is gonna be flashes of brilliance so I guess we will just have to take the shit that comes with it. Turner looks like Nelson 2.0 but could be just a little bit more clinical and the Trialist striker is just far to lightweight to cut it in this league. Overall was pleasing to watch us compete with a first choice dons side even if it was a friendly, saw enough to make me really optimistic for the season ahead, also downside is a total lack of presence upfront which I hope will be rectified by Hartley before the season starts.

  3. If we don't massacre Airdrie, I'm straight down to the stadium to buy a season ticket and demanding they refund me. Then I will proceed to write "sack Hartley" in fresh poop along the side of the stadium. Then I'll probably start overreacting.

  7. I may be being a bit harsh here but really....... I don’t give much of a f**k whether he does well at Burton (or anywhere else) or not tbh. Unlike the likes of Gauldy and Robertson, who gave us some great moments and memories in their very short time with us, and whom I wish every success (lapped up Robbo’s CL final appearance), I relate Fraser’s time with us to abject failure in every way, and the most sustained period of misery in all my years as an Arab. I also see him as a talented player who’s bollocks somehow disappeared whenever we were in a scrap, and who never got even remotely close to living up to his potential in his time with us. I don’t wish the boy any harm, but at the same time, would feel a bit pissed off if he suddenly he turned it on for someone else. Just saying.

  12. Ridiculous. Total waste of hot water and presumably fairy liquid. Basin full of hot soapy water, dirty dishes to one side. Excess food is scraped off, grease/sauce/whatever else rinsed off under the tap. Plate washed in soapy water. Move on.

  23. I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt on the basis that there may have been mitigating factors behind the scenes which made the job more difficult than it should have been. That's not to say that he shouldn't have made a better fist of it regardless or to excuse some of the decisions which must fall squarely on his shoulders but he may not be entirely culpable for everything that went wrong. If Laszlo and Martin are to be believed however those issues have now been addressed. Any bad apples should be gone, he's got his own coaching team, a new scouting team, policies have been brought in to encourage a greater degree of team spirit, he has had the final say on all signings. If things go badly then there'll be nowhere for him to hide. In any event, there's really no benefit to continuing to berate the man for past mistakes. If he fucks up again then he'll be gone soon enough. If he does well then last season's nonsense will all be forgiven.

  24. A couple of things: 1. We're definitely short still of at least two attacking options: two injuries and we're naming 17 year old left backs as left midfielders. 2. There is no combination of 11 players Barry Smith can't bash into a 4-4-2 shape. It's a talent.

  27. For the guys not on Kickback, a wee update from Cathy Jamieson, on her first month as a Director...... “I'm pleased to be able to report back to Trust members on my first month as a Director of KFC. Since officially taking up the post on 1st June, I've met with other Directors, CEO and KFC staff, to get up to speed on key issues around the business side of the Club and see the work currently under way on the hospitality box, and tidying up of the East stand. I've also spent time meeting SLO Allen Kyle to discuss how we liaise to ensure that issues which need flagged up at Board level are taken there, as well as gathering ideas and views from supporters on improvements they would like to see in the future. Along with Directors John Kiltie and Bill White, I attended the KFCSA AGM and issues raised there were followed up by us. I also met with the KFC Disabled Supporters Association to hear their views on how match day experience could be improved, and discuss what changes might need to be made to meet regulatory requirements. My first Board meeting was on 29th June - the first opportunity to have all Directors and CEO in one place. I'm pleased that there was agreement that going forward a summary of Board meetings will be put together for the Club website. As everyone appreciates, there are confidential matters which can't go public, but it's important that supporters know the kind of issues that are being considered. I also suggested that we have a standing item on the Agenda at each Board meeting to feed in updates/issues/ideas from the Trust, SLO and KFCSA, and that was also agreed. One issue which has split opinion amongst the fans was the announcement of charges for match day mascots. While some were happy with this feeling it could be a great birthday or Christmas gift, others were concerned that kids from lower income families could lose out. Some great ideas came from fans about how to attract sponsors for mascots, discounts for family groups of kids, and places for kids who deserved a "well done" for achievements. I can report that there will still be opportunities for kids to be mascots without paying - a particular thanks to Trust Members for ideas and offers to pay for places. As you would expect, everyone wanted to ensure that Steve Clarke has the support he needs to deliver results on the pitch, which needs a sound financial basis for the Club to work from. The investment by the Trust was welcomed, and there will be further discussion on how that funding is utilised. Key issues going forward will include training facility, the pitch, and ongoing improvements in the stadium. As announced on the Club website, Gregg McEwan has joined the Commercial Department, and was very quick to respond positively to my request that he meet with the Trust Board. I very much hope that we are seeing the start of a more co-operative way of working between the Club and the supporters. I can't promise that we will get everything supporters want, but we do now have a real opportunity to influence things, making the club successful commercially in order to invest in players and facilities, but also giving back to the community, and the fans who follow Killie week in, week out.” Cathy Jamieson.

  33. Pretty pleased to hear our experimental line up matched up well against the well established second best team in Scotland. I think I am 2 signings and 2 launchings away from being very happy with the options in all areas. I just have the feeling we arent going to get a new RB though. New striker and RB would just be grand. Also, delighted to hear of Paul Paton wrecking GMS. Precisely what he was signed for.

  35. If I'm honest, I'm willing to give him a chance on the basis that he can't possibly be as incompetent as he appeared to be last season. I do, however, reserve the right to start hurling abuse at him after 5 mins of the first game if we're not 3-0 up.

  38. College sports is where most players come through in America as the MLS teams have only recently started their own academies. Brad Friedel went to UCLA, so while it's unfair to draw comparisons, he's clearly brilliant and we should definitely sign him before we regret it.

  39. Gus and Gerry Crawley spoke at QPSA AGM last night. Gus still at stage of trimming the amount of players he has in for training down to a manageable, competitive squad. Gus also talked of the harm social media can do ( presumably meaning this site in particular) when it comes to (1) alerting other clubs of players that we may be interested in and (2) affecting the confidence of players when they are slagged off. Maybe that is something all QP fans should consider before posting on this site.

  41. Sorry but I have to disagree. There are always a number of important political issues to consider at any time but only ONE issue that Corbyn should be concentrating on at the moment. His own naive attitude towards Brexit is, of course, his Achilles heel. Sadly Corbyn, who is now the leader of one the two main U.K. parties, still has a backbencher mentality. If he had ever held a cabinet position he would be more willing to compromise his position and consider the bigger picture. He has (or at least seem to have had) a chance to get into power and address over a decade of Tory austerity; austerity that has caused real suffering to real people. However his lack of acumen means he is unlikely to be able to now get that chance. I have taken an active interest in politics for over 45 years and I am struggling to think of a government and its Prime Minister so weak and so vulnerable; I also cannot remember the Tories being so divided. May and the Tories are there for the taking and for Corbyn to be letting May off the hook at a time like this is unforgivable.

  42. Our results so far this pre-season really show up the lunacy of the Scottish football set up. The Championship needs us. Time to make it 11 teams.

  44. I don't want to get too carried away here lads. There is a lot of football between now and May. But with a performance like we have seen tonight and perhaps a little touch of Lenny magic. I don't think the quadruple is unreasonable. Hopefully the SFA see sense as the Scottish cup final is scheduled for May 25th while the Europa League final takes place in Baku on the 29th after a 10 hour flight it could really hamper our plans. Our only other choice is to play our B team in the Scottish cup. I'm sure lads like Lewis Allan and Ben Stirling could easily mop up whatever team was fortunate to get to the final. Livingston or some other mob.

  46. When setting the prices we took into account that last season we broadcast live from 25 away games (all matches bar the 2 away pre-season friendlies), as well as broadcasting all 24 home matches live. 49 games for a £25 Audio Pass... Compare that to season 2016 - 17 where for the same price we broadcast 23 home games and a handful (4 matches IIRC) of away games..... The price rise is there to reflect the increased level of coverage provided by broadcasting as many away matches as is physically possible, as well as all home fixtures.
