No that happened. It was some sort of charity gig IIRC. It was the same day Myles Hippolyte caused the largest mass-headsgone known to man and Wee Sibbald shooshed yous. What a fucking day that was.8 points

The clubs problems are well documented but if we take the facts of our current situation it's that we have a hefty maintenance bill to service at our current stadium. We could potentially be in League 1 next season. We could potentially be up for sale. We won't have cash to get rid of Stevie Aitken who has a year remaining on his deal. Can I ask if would you rather we sacked Stevie, taking on a debt from somewhere, and got in an out of work manager (as we couldn't afford compensation for an in work manager) as replacement? For me where we are now isn't good, there's much room for improvement and I do fear the drop. But if we do drop, Aitken knows League 1 inside out and give me Stevie over every single muppet that gets listed for every job vacancy going these days. He has his faults, aye, but last year he built a good squad (for a club like ours) and has done so at Stranraer too. I think we need to back him until his deal runs out and see where we are then, right now we have bigger issues to deal with. I should add you are entitled to spend your money as you wish, I don't want this to seem like I'm having a go at folk who want to stay away, I understand that viewpoint. I'm just questioning what the alternative realistically is.5 points

Categories Scotland U21 star Eamonn Brophy handed new Killie deal....... Eamonn Brophy has been rewarded for his impressive debut season by being handed a new Kilmarnock contract. The club has moved to extend the Scotland Under 21 international's contract until the summer of 2021. Brophy arrived at Rugby Park following his exit from today's opponents Hamilton Academical, where he turned professional. After scoring his first goal of the campaign against St Johnstone in December, Brophy has hit eight goals in 24 appearances. A hit with supporters for his 'Wolf' nickname and celebration, the 22-year-old recently earned his second Scotland U21 cap. He featured off the bench during the 1-1 draw with Andorra with Killie boss Steve Clarke moving to add Brophy to his list of contract extensions. Greg Kiltie, Alan Power and Rory McKenzie have all agreed fresh terms with the club with talks underway with other squad members.5 points

Our next home match is against ICT next Saturday according to the sign on Lochfield Road. Can I respectfully suggest that the particular facility in question be discontinued next season? If ensuring that it carries accurate information is a difficulty - and it would appear to be a massive one - it's surely doing more harm than good.5 points

Glasgow built its wealth on the backs of African slaves and you would accept this if you listened to their descendants. It’s utterly embarrassing that people think the best way to demonstrate your woke credentials is by dismissing Scotland’s active role in facilitating Britain’s empire. We do better by acknowledging our mistakes and promising to do better, not disavowing.4 points

At best it was incredibly poor decision making on McCann’s part. Why did McCann feel the need to try to say something to a kit man? Is McCann really that concerned what a kit man had been saying throughout the match? If he was that concerned did McCann really think that talking to him there and then was the best way to get his point across? Why not just shake hands with whoever he wanted to and walk away? McCann should have gone into the post match press conference with all the questions being why he couldn’t once again work out a way to prevent a bottom half side scoring 4 goals at Dens. Two games in which none of our attackers or midfielders could score. The only scorer being Waddell from a set piece. A defender that McCann pretty much refuses to play. Utterly incredible that McCann’s part in the incident is still being talked about rather than the fact he has so far failed to produce a side capable of battling it out against bottom half teams, of which we will have to play 5 times come the split.3 points

If I was the Australian captain, I’d try and concoct a fiendish scheme to try and surreptitiously alter the ball, perhaps using, say, sandpaper. They’d need to be careful not to get caught on TV, but it’s a possibility.3 points

Rite todays the day the £1000 profit barrier gets smashed. Tough race and could make a case for a few of these on first viewing. Masham Star on a good mark and should handle the conditions, Twin Appeal last years winner running 4 pounds lower with Robinson taking off the handy 5 pounds, Luis Vaz de Torres who has won off todays mark over course and distance but after some careful thought todays vote goes to LUALIWA who comes down in grade today having ran well previously in higher grades with 2 wins coming over this distance3 points

The BBCs obsession with the cricket ball tampering thing. Oh, and giving women's football scores before the men's matches. It's great that some women are making the effort to keep fit but I wonder how many people give a toss about Man City ladies tonking Swindon 8-0?3 points

Yet your logic is probably more like Bavaria isn’t partly responsible as it was ruled be evil Berlin, let’s just forgot most of the architects of it were Bavarian, Bavarian people would have wilfully aided it etc etc.3 points

Cheers - glad I wasn’t imagining that. You’re partly wrong though as I clearly remember everyone taking the defeat with good grace and pointing out that one of our players also dived that day.3 points

The Hearts, Motherwell, St Mirren schemes are all entirely different in that they are done with the aim of having a level of fan ownership in the club. What do Aberdeen fans have to gain from this? My favourite part is the "money can't buy experiences" which you have to pay £6 extra a month to get. It's a ploy to fleece the fans with little being given back in return. Its entirely consistent with the sit down, shut up and give us your cash mantra that we get from the club. Unfortunately, due to the blind loyalty of sections of our support this will probably be quite successful for the club. We tolerate far too much as a support, as seen recently with us allowing our club to be moved 7 miles out of the city of Aberdeen (but that's a separate matter altogether).3 points

I'm sure we're all agog to see the league tables. Especially @Zen Archer In the Isla Fisher league, AFJ might be a rough prawn but you can't argue against his 5 (5) winning margin. WILLIEA edges it on QD for the runners up gong. Salvo's a no-show so down he goes, along with Ross. pleslie99 is in the play-offs narrowly on QD. In the Madge Bishop league, Tynieness has shown his true colours, edging out Edmund. Leedsy has edged out Kincy on QD. Down below, ArmadaleKillie returns to the comforting busom of the lower league. NJ2 has failed to post a score so cheerio. Me in the play-offs. Welshbairn gets the first, last and only shot at the Lizzie Birdsworth Memorial Trophy. Captain's up. German Jag is in the play-offs. Over to you @SlipperyP2 points

The base has to be level, so once they dig up the pitch and put down the drainage, they infill with hardcore then the shock pad then the pitch itself on top, then the rubber infill. There also has to be some form of "framing" of the pitch to prevent it moving, either concrete slabs and edging around the perimeter or something else.2 points

Voted for Davo myself. Either between him or Euan Murray. It's strange to look back and think nobody knew what to expect of Murray, but he's been an excellent left back for us.2 points

Could the average Englishman have prevented empire? No he couldn’t. Yet we still acknowledge England’s devastating colonial impact. It’s really that simple. If Scotland hated the empire and the union so much then why was there little to no secession movements between 1745 and the 20th century even compared to say Ireland? We, as a country, embraced empire and the opportunities it afforded us and we have to take our share of the blame if we want to be a grown up progressive country. Simple as that.2 points

We could have refused to participate in it, instead we made our participation a condition of joining the Union.2 points

This deserves a thread all on its own. Incidentally, was watching Wentworth (remake of Prisoner) the other day, and in the same episode, I saw Plain Jane Superbrain as a haggard support worker and then Madge get run over by a tractor. Lovely stuff.2 points

Tbf mate in the absolute shit fest of the the last few pages on this thread of which you have been front and centre, your complete lack of self awareness to call some else ‘tragic’ nearly made me shit myself laughing. YOU GET DRUNK AND HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN COME ON THE POLITICS SECTION OF A FOOTBALL FORUM TO WIND UP PEOPLE YOU DON’T KNOW BECAUSE YOUR FOOTBALL TEAM IS SUCH A LAUGHING STOCK YOU DON’T HAVE ANY BALLS TO POST ABOUT THEM.2 points

I've followed Junior football since I was a kid, although not regularly anymore due to other commitments. For the life of me, I can't understand why any Junior club would vote 'against' the notion of a complete pyramid. Fixture lists being compiled properly, sponsorship, more exposure on a national level, a degree of professionalism trying to increase and maintain standards. If done correctly, the bigger clubs such as Talbot and Linlithgow, will still be the 'big fish in the wee pond', with the chance of 'national level silverware' each season, if the Scottish Junior Cup is renamed the 'SFA non-league cup' or something, similar to that to be found in the FA Vase down South. The smaller clubs, lacking in facilities, such as my local team, Bellshill Athletic, would find their own level within the pyramid, just the same as they've found their current level in the Juniors...but with a far bigger incentive to actually improve their lot and even aim for a license in years down the line, with a bit of ambition and possible financial gains. I see Athletic voted against it, and that disappoints me. The whole discussion, to me, sums up Scottish society in a way, complete and total negativity from some for no other possible reason than being feart of any type of change.2 points

To be fair to them they were way down in 9th when Hartley took over last year. Remarkable transformation to reel in Dumbarton like that. He's potentially the next Jack Ross, albeit fatter and scruffier.2 points
