  1. "imaginary marquee signing" - Dundee thread goes 20 pages in three days. Wonder what would happen if we signed someone decent? I know others have asked for you not to be quoted but I am going to quote the above because it deserves to be called out. Your attitude to mental health is completely wrong. He has come to play professional football and deserves to be judged on that basis, not on his mental health issues under some vague qualifier of "hope he gets better". If we consider him in terms of his football rather than his illness we have a player that can stroll this league. It is not deluded to give someone with incredible ability a chance. That said I honestly don't care if his first action in a Dundee shirt is to put the ball in our own net and collapse in tears. I'll be roaring him on regardless as he'll be wearing dark blue.

  2. Holy f**k! He's actually thanking himself for buying himself a pint now. I genuinely don't know if this charade is funny or downright disturbing.

  3. If there’s a minutes silence or applause then join in of course, but this relatively modern trend of football fans using a tragic event to give their own support a pat on the back is as creepy as it is nauseating.

  13. Aw, absolute bliss. I like going out with the missus. I like going out with my mates. But sometimes, there's nothing better than being on my Jack Jones with a paper and a pint in a pub where everyone knows the rules and no c**t is going to try and start a conversation with me.

  15. I have one major concern about every single suggestion regarding bringing in additional revenue. They are all in principle good ideas which have the potential to work IF IMPLEMENTED AND PROMOTED AND MARKETED PROPERLY. Does anyone think that the club is geared up commercially to capitalise on any of these ideas at the moment? As someone mentioned they can’t sell the space they currently have. We have advertising gaps and players currently unsponsored and that’s before you even consider the retail function of the club. Woeful. It seems as if the club are taking a ‘if we build it they will come’ approach. The reality is they won’t. They will need persuaded and we need to have the people in-house who can do that successfully. Current evidence suggests it’s not just the pitch and facilities that will require an overhaul.

  16. I don't agree but get that some folk may want Wright out. What I can't get my head around is the startling lack of respect being shown to our most successful ever manager in the way it is being put across. Tommy Wright should never be told to "get to f**k" for example. And that's before starting on those belittling his achievements.

  18. Funnily enough Wilf I'm having seriously similar thoughts about Oswestry ! Today was an embarrassment and a disgrace. Some hellish individual performances aside, the utter lack of collective motivation and belief in what was after all a Scottish Cup tie with a place in the last eight for the winners was shockingly evident from the first whistle. With one notable exception - Andy Dowie. We have become so inured to a grimly defensive mindset that the confidence has all but completely drained from the squad, and at times it has become pitiful to watch. Morton won in a canter today, as did St Mirren and Livingston twice recently. All of their players seem to be pulling in the same direction, unlike ours who seem more intent on on-field verbal spats. There is a malaise right now and it needs addressed. All we ask is that the team at least competes.

  22. Some of my mates think its pretty sad that I enjoy this too, but I love it. I work shifts, so sometimes on a Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday I'll take my dog out for a walk for a couple of hours in the morning/early afternoon then nip into my local have a few pints of T. I read the paper, watch some TV, my dog gets a bag of crisps and a bowl of water from the bar maid. I'll have a few more pints, maybe spend about 4 hours in the pub if I get talking to someone then I'll take a stroll home. That's the life.

  25. Quite amusing tin-pottery from the announcer at Livi today, as they announced the player being substituted off's sponsor over the public address. That's quite tin pot in itself tbh, but when the player replacing him is announced along with "sponsorship still available" it takes it to another level...

  26. Agree with earlier posts re totally changing a system that was working. Last week O'Dea was absolutely honking. I know a lot on here don't go in for stats but can anyone tell me the results v Premier League teams with O'Dea in the team compared with when he isn't - convinced it will be a significantly worse. Mind you, Waddell shouldn't have scored last week - you know McCann will drop him if he does. Moussa taking, rightly, a lot of flak for his misses but at least he caused the Motherwell defense problems. AJ once again was so anonymous (like last week), apart from his missed sitter, that it is beyond a joke. I hope that I never see him in our shirt again. El Bak should have been on in his place - may have ended the same way but with his pace and trickery it at least makes the opposition worry. On the plus side I thought when Lambert came on he did well . A midfield of Lambert, Kamara, McGowan and O'Hara might be the right kind of blend. A defense of Kerr, Waddell/ Kasunga, Caulker and Jon certainly looks alright. Murray and El Bak up front for me but.....

  27. Be good if the club could get together with the SFA and announce our Cup final allocation now. Celtic are finished, Rangers are a joke club and I imagine we'll be sticking 5 or 6 past Aberdeen in the quarters or the semi, so it'll be probably be Morton in the final. 30k to us and 15k to them?

  37. Take Two: BSC Glasgow - Season 2026/27 First Team Squad | Transfers | Finances | Facilities | Training League Campaign Well, f**k. Looks like we fell just short of our aim of being less shite than two other teams. We had another complete shiter of a start to the season, winning just one of our games before December the 12th (a bizarre 5-1 thrashing of Queens Park, who ended up getting promoted). Our form didn't ever really get much better to be honest, two wins and a draw being our best run by an absolute mile. Fortunately, Cowdenbeath were absolutely dreadful, and Forfar weren't much better but managed to scrape together a few more results than we did. Mark Fletcher has just about cemented one of my centre forward roles as his own, considering he didn't play at all for half the season, then score 11 goals and got 3 assists in the half he did, which for an absolutely terrible team, isn't bad at all. Ryan Hunter has also developed into my best central midfielder, but Bob Dunlop has stalled completely and isn't any better than he was when he first signed. He still gets a game as I haven't got anyone better, but we'll need to hope someone pops up to replace him. Judas Scott has spent all season refusing to sign a new contract and has now decided that getting over 6x his current wage and playing full time football in the Scottish Premiership is a more attractive option that fighting against relegation to the fourth tier of Scottish football every year. There's no loyalty these days. Anyway, as you can see, we faced a playoff to try to stay up, and first up we had Montrose. The first leg was eventful, both sides missed penalties and we managed to be much more clinical, as Montrose had more of the ball, more shots (both on and off target) and hit the woodwork twice, although we created the better chances. Phil Higgins got his first goal for the club to put us 3-1 up, and that proved absolutely vital as we then went on to lose 1-0 at home in another game where we were outplayed, but managed to defend just well enough to see us through, and John Gallacher in goals put in a solid display too. Extremely fortunate, as had we conceded again, I'm absolutely certain we'd have lost in extra time. All that set us up for a playoff final against Clyde. A pretty poor first leg was a 1-1 draw, where we took the lead through an own goal with just 10 minutes to go. Our lead only lasted 5 minutes, and there was no time to do anything about it. 1-1 at home, so we went to Cumbernauld needing to get a result. That we did with Pat McManus getting his first goal in 8 games to secure our safety for next season. We were once again outplayed, and relied on absolutely cynical nonsense which would have me absolutely seething if they'd done it but it worked, and somehow, despite being absolutely terrible all season, with just a couple of glorious highlights (Cowdenbeath 0 - BSC Glasgow 5 and BSC Glasgow 4 - Raith Rovers 0), we've managed to stay up. Jamie Scott is obviously away, but we'll have the same squad next season more or less, so I expect another shitfest of a season. The Cups Cups are shite. They can f**k off until I'm good enough to not just get cunted whenever I have to play someone half decent. I mean, 0-0 with East Kilbride for fucks sake. We didn't even win the penalties. Disgusting. Youth Intake Declan Shankland: At long last, a semi-decent looking right back. I'll try to get him involved in the first team next season, but he's not particularly good. He can't really attack, which isn't great as I'd rather my full backs could, but he looks fine defensively. Paul Ritchie: Another striker, he could end being a good target man, his heading and finishing is good, but he needs a lot of work to be the finished article. I do need replacements up front though, as Barry Wilson, Pat McManus and Jordan Donnelly who've been my go to strikers for years now really aren't up to it now we've been promoted. Other News We've had our first international caps, both at under 19 level, with Chris Herd getting one for Scotland and Jamie Scott has played for the Irish a few times now. As Scott is leaving and we don't really have anyone of the same standard, I'd expect these to dry up but it's still a nice milestone. There's absolutely nothing else going on, we've still got no money to do anything. I'm absolutely desperate for a cup run and an away game against one of the bigger sides, as it's about the only way we'll make any money. We don't even have the capacity to capitalise on a home game properly, which is shite. Still, if we can stay up again next season, that'll be great. If we can start playing before March that'll be nice too.

  44. British transfer record-breaking Billy Steel makes his debut for Dundee against Aberdeen. He scored in a 2-0 win in front of a 30,000+ crowd (he's thought to have put an extra 10,000 on the gate alone). His spell at Dens saw Dundee reach Hampden finals three times in just over a year, winning the league cup twice and getting humped by Motherwell 4-0 in front of something like 136,000 fans. There's a chapter about him in the book Dundee Greats, some of the stories are excellent, including one where his team mates pulled him out of a pub, totally a couple of hours before another game against Aberdeen, one of the players was Doug Cowie who said something like "Honestly, he was half-gassed and tore Aberdeen apart that day". Dundee's next successful period was the early 60s, winning the title in 61-62, a season which included a bizarre 5-1 win at Ibrox, and a mental comeback against Raith Rovers, with Dundee winning 5-4, after trailing 4-2 with 15 minutes to go. Alan Gilzean's goals were instrumental, few more than this late winner at Tannadice in April 1962. Dundee qualified for the European Cup, making the semi-finals before being fucked out 5-2 by AC Milan over 2 legs. They were drawn against one of the favourites in the first round, FC Cologne. Dundee thumped them 8-1 at Dens in one of the biggest shocks in the competition's short history. The return leg was a deeply unpleasant affair, marred by crowd violence and the Cologne players targeting Dundee 'keeper Bert Slater, who had to go off with concussion, having to come back on with his head bandaged up as Cologne were looking likely to absolutely hammer Dundee. They won 4-0, and missed a penalty. The game ended with British Army soldiers escorting the Dundee players off under a hail of bottles, chairs and various other objects. Here's Slater getting a mouthful of studs from a Cologne forward. Following that game, Dundee knocked out Sporting Lisbon 4-2, and then pished all over second favourites Anderlecht 6-2. The DABs of course also won a single league title, and got the semis of the European Cup losing out to Roma in a bitter semi-final. It's remarkable these days to think that Dundee's clubs have, between them got to two European Cup Semis, A UEFA final and another semi final. We'll never see those days again.
