  1. I’m as passionate about Dundee as the next man but I really don’t get the Si Murray hate and he will be getting no special treatment from me. I’ll be right behind him on Saturday for the first five minutes and if the cunter doesn’t score he’s getting fucking crucified.

  3. There are 5 clubs significantly bigger than us on the league now. We might have the 6th biggest budget but it will be a lot closer to the 7th biggest than the 5th. 6th would almost be like finishing top for us. Comfortably avoiding the play off spot with 2/3 games to go and I’ll be happy. In my opinion we have defo progressed. The manager has less than a years experience but he has changed our style (for the better), presents himself well, has shown he has an eye for a player and is keen on bringing in and promoting youth. We’re working away at the new ground project which will dramatically improve the image and profile of the club. What’s not too like? 5 years ago we were miles behind our dayglo, smelly, glory hunting neighbours - now we are literally and metaphorically in a different league [emoji4][emoji4][emoji4]

  4. So, after a reflecting on it all - here's my thoughts. If you'd told people at the Arbroath and Buckie games Dundee would be cashing in on Hendry in Janaury for £1m, they would have laughed in your face. . I think he'll go on to be a Scotland international, and will undoubtedly improve if he gets game time at Celtic. You also can't fault his application over the last few months, or grudge him a move that will see him become a league winner, play in Europe and likely multiple cup finals - from a footballers perspective that's the dream we all have as kids, be it for Celtic or Berwick. He's clearly a very good player, and will be a miss, but from a business perspective making that kind of profit on an unproven gamble over 6 months has to be applauded, from a business perspective. That's where there is a difference between business and football business, however. The key, for me, to successful football business dealings, is succession planning. Dundee have known, since the day Hendry moved to Storm Sports X, that he's likely to move on. There should have been a list of names in the frame to replace him, given that they had a fee in mind. You can't, IMO. blame the club for accepting that kind of money, it's huge money in Scotland, but the lack of succession planning and any kind of a plan is startling to me. Now, where to start with the Murray - Bain - Allan situation. In reality, nobody know what's gone on behind closed doors. Celtic could have given us 100k as a sweetener to the deal, they could have forced it on us as "punishment" for asking big money for Hendry, they could have said "give us Bain and you can have your money for Hendry". Either way, we've lost our most creative player, we went on a 5 game losing streak when he was out of the team in October / November. However, we've also had some very impressive performances without him in the team. The results picked up when he returned to the team, a lot of these game he started on the bench. A lot of people don't like Murray, I get that, but I'm not one to get into that sort of stuff. If I'm honest with myself and I'd spent a game being abused by fans and scored in front of them, I'd probably be giving it back regardless. If someone had said to me Dundee would sign a stiker from the league who's in double figures this season, I'd have taken it - no questions asked - and that's what they've got. If he hits the ground running and scores a few, let's face it, it's what people here having been crying out for since August, I'm sure most will get over his past actions. The biggest error, as I've stated above, is not using the last month to sound out a replacement for Hendry. Who knows what effect it'll have in the short term, we'll have to wait and see. Until then I'll be there and supporting the players on the park and have plenty faith that we're still better then a few teams in this division, Let's not forget a win on Saturday puts Dundee 11 points clear of relegation. Was it a badly planned window? Yes. Is it the end of the season apocalyptic mess some people are making out? Absolutely not, IMO.

  5. Can't help but feel we have been a bit shafted but it's done now and we have to make the best of it. Getting on Murrays back because you are upset at something he did in a derby while playing for them isn't going to help anyone. He has been signed to score the goals we will need to keep us in the league, the sooner everyone gets on board with that then the better it will be for everyone. I hope he can do the job we need.

  14. The way I see it is that the Hendry fee is around £1m-1.2m with add-ins bringing it up to around £1.5m. Celtic also paid us an upfront fee for loaning Bain till the end of the season. I'm starting to think that this fee was used as a part of the Hendry deal so that we don't have to pay as much to Wigan in the reported clause we had with them. I think the BOD have done a lot better than most are giving them credit for. If we can continue to bring in players of this quality and sell them on for inflated profits i.e. Hendry and likely Kamara in the summer then in a couple of years we might be in a stable enough position where we can tell these clubs to f**k off.

  19. Our storeman had a rather wonderful meltdown yesterday. About an hour before the shift finished he just lost the plot, marched into the office muttering swear words and saying he'd "had enough". He was trying to take his high vis vest off in a rage and the Velcro kept getting stuck leading to him basically pulling it over his head, throwing it at his desk and shouting "f**k OFF". He stormed out of the office and straight out the front door. His desk is pretty much joined to my boss' desk and he sat watching the entire meltdown without saying a word. My boss isn't actually his boss, but I found it hilarious the way my boss just stared at him as he was going tonto. We all expected that was the end of him but he came in this morning and clocked in at 9am and is carrying on with his job as if nothing happened. My respect for him has grown somewhat.

  21. After 15 years away from cycling, bought myself a Boardman hybrid last year. It's not top of the range but reliable and most importantly comfortable. 4 hours seems to be my limit, but that's usually good for 45-50 miles with a fair bit of climbing. Came on here to ask a question, but thought I'd check the thread first to see if it's been asked before. Ended up reading the entire thread from page 1, and unfortunately, because it took me nearly 4 months to get through it, I've forgotten what the question was. Great read though. Things sure have changed a lot in 15 years.

  22. They're not a charity and we know where living beyond our means goes. Keeping Hendry until the summer would not have reduced his value. It's got nothing to do with whether a football club is a charity or not. You don't get involved with Dundee FC expecting to make any real money. These rich guys that get involved with clubs such as Dundee do it because they've always wanted the 'prestige' of owning a sports team, but they are not Arab sheik rich that they can buy a PSG and then plow hundreds of millions of euros into it. There is no reason to get involved with a Dundee FC unless you want try and get a good team on the field otherwise what is the point? Nobody is expecting Keyes to lose ridiculous amounts of money, but the idea that we didn't get bent over today because we are not a 'charity' is bollocks. Maybe if these guys paid more attention to the on field product there'd be more people in the stand. I'll support the Dee forever, but it's disheartening how football is run. Contracts are meaningless when richer clubs want your players, but contracts are ironclad when you want to get rid of a player. As for people that say stuff like 'it's good for Hendry and he'll get a better wage, and once his head is turned' is a bunch of garbage. Hendry signed the 2 year contract - I assume without a gun to his head - and I'm sure would have survived until the summer for his move when we hopefully could've gotten some English clubs involved in the bidding. Furthermore as a fan the player movement in football is ridiculous enough every summer with many teams looking completely different year to year, but now the Jan window you see many teams doing complete mid season overhauls as well. There is no continuity and therefore no affinity between fan and player when as a supporter you've got no idea who's going to be here in a month. The January window needs to be shortened or curtailed in some way, and season long loans should only be voidable only if both teams agree. Yes Celtic did us a favour by loaning us a decent player, but we did them a favour by playing that player when they had no plan for him this season and he just would've sat watching their games so it's a two way street. It's all gotten a bit ridiculous tbh. Every club seems to have one or two players that are lifers, but the other 20 players are just passing through town. I'll support whomever plays in the Dark Blue including Murray, but it's offly uninspiring some days especially when you know that even if NM unearths another Hendry-like gem and sign him to a 6 year deal it won't matter the player will be sold when Septic (or someone else) comes around. And speaking of Septic, that roaster Rodger's talk about how hard done by they are in Europe because they are outspent and don't have good enough competition domestically just speaks to the utter cognitive dissonance, hypocrisy, and arrogance they've got never ceases to astound especially after today. But hey ho that's just my opinion.

  31. They are not the ones that regionalisation should focus on. If you use England as an example, tier 5 is the National League, Tier 6 is split North and South, then tier 7 and below is far more localised, more on county lines by and large. Here, we have tried the East Super League with varying degrees of success but we have to acknowledge the junior fanbase is , ironically, an older one and travel is an issue, so 4 or 5 hour round trips to Tayside aren't helping our game any. Fans feel no attachment to a game against, say, Carnoustie but are more interested in Bathgate playing us. Personally, I'm okay with travel but many aren't and we risk alienating an already dwindling support further.

  32. We couldn't play them. Players can only sign elsewhere if they get released during a window. MOH could be released tomorrow, sign for us, and we couldn't register him until the Summer. It's why we released Paton yesterday.

  36. Shame the deal for the striker fell through, leaves us looking quite light up top again. Tanner’s never a natural striker, was largely ineffective last night. Ciftci is a catch 22, doesn’t look fit but will only get fit by playing regulary. Newell’s currently injured and while I do like the look of him, I’m still not convinced he’s quite ready and is another one who appears to start blowing out his arse after 20 mins. Petravicius like Desp said above, I’m not convinced is even a footballer. Main looked a bit leggy last night and wasn’t effective as he has been, took his goal well though and you can’t argue with 3 in 3. However you do wonder how long he can keep it going, he’s doing some shift every game and he’s literally the only one scoring at the minute. If/when he stops, you worry about where the goals are going to come from. Also, the quicker Frear and Cadden get fit the better cause I don’t think I can take much more of watching Grimshaw and Rose playing out wide. It’s genuinely painful to watch. Last night we were crying out for some pace and creativity and were much improved when Bigi and Cadden came on. I know he frustrates at times, me more than anyone, however I think it might be worth pursuing with Bigi from the start for the next few games. Our midfield is devoid of anyone else who can pass a ball and you saw from our goal last night the difference having a midfielder with vision and a decent range of passing makes.

  37. I’m hopeful too, wish I could be confident rather than just hopeful but time will tell. In all this doom and gloom I feel sorry for Harry Souttar. We should be celebrating his performances. Deserved another man of the match last night to follow Sunday’s. It’s not just what he does with the ball, he spends a lot of time organising the defence, free kicks etc. A very impressive young man as far as I’m concerned.

  38. Given the way the transfers out of Hemmings and Stewart were handled, I have no idea why anyone would expect our board to have handled this complex-looking series of events anything other than atrociously. The only part of it they've done well is trouser a large amount of money (regardless of sell-on fee to Wigan) for a guy we got for f**k all in summer. Additionally, Murray is a decent addition up top. But to not replace either Allan or Hendry is absolutely fucking laughable.

  44. A few years ago, a guy with a bag of chips sat down next to me on my way home from work. I was playing music through my earphones and reading p&b, minding my own business. He gave me a wee nudge and the conversation went like this Guy "Want a chip mate?" Me (after removing earphones) "No you're alright thanks" I replaced the earphones before getting another nudge about a minute later. Guy "Where did you get your glasses?" Me "Eh, Specsavers" Guy "Do they do Spider-Man ones?" Me "..." Me "No idea, I'm forty. Why don't you go in and find out?" Guy "Good idea. Cheers for your help" The strangest conversation I think I've ever had.
