  1. Sounds daft when you say it like that, but imagine you had the Stenhousemuir midfield behind them. Now you're talking

  2. Today marks the first time in 3 years that I've made it from one payday to the next without taking out a payday loan. Tomorrow I will pay off 2 more for good. Paid off 2 at the start of December. Moving in the right direction

  7. A few observations from me in regards to these recent press releases: 1. I note that Chris Stainton was "speaking on behalf of the Dumbarton board" in his quotes. As far as I'm aware Chris Stainton, nor Brabco, currently have anyone on the board. Are the board happy for him to speak on their behalf? Why didn't the club Chairman give a statement if the board are behind it? 2. Whilst Ian Wilson doesn't appear to have his name on anything DFC at the moment, he still seems to be involved behind the scenes. It's a worry for me that if planning permission is granted he will waltz back on the scene. I know some Brabco guys don't want to be known, but of the guys we do know we should be informed of what their actual role is and what their role will be going forward. 3. They've gone heavy on the "fans back this plan now" without any fans actually saying they do (the odd few have in meetings granted, but no official word has been given). The Trust have said all along that we would back the plans if we could be given guarantees of a few things, mainly that the club are under no liability and we retain (or expand) our representation on the board. I'm not aware of any guarantees being given as of yet (they have said these things but nothing in writing). 4. The figures quoted for staying at the Rock seem to go wildly from being difficult but manageable to impossible to service. It can't be difficult for us to get some quotes done here and find out what the real damage is. If the quoted figures are correct and it's impossible for us to service, then I question why the owners have let this get to this stage. Where is the business plan here? We have nothing concrete business wise for the new stadium (all conjecture based on what price we get for land - even read the wording in the statement - "sustainable and first class facilities", it's buzz words with no actual detail) and we don't have a business plan for staying where we are. How can we be asked to support something when the plan for it isn't concrete and the back-up plan isn't even being drawn up? 5. Offshore ownership. What's the script here? We were told not worry, they'd bring it onshore but since then we've heard f**k all. IMO Brabco still don't grasp the doubts of the majority of fans. All of the above would be easy to answer if you were a competent business man with a good idea of what your plan was. They haven't answered (and I doubt they will), either because they can't or because they don't want to, either way it's bad news.

  14. All the best for tomorrow, buddy. You'll love being a dad. Hard lines to @SlipperyP even if you predicted it. Still, a narrow loss to me is maybe more dignified than facing the quizzing colossus that is AlaNg. Now, in the absence of replies from Tiny and Cardi, I'll fling together some questions myself. I started already: 1. High Wycombe is known for its cultural diversity. What am I cooking for dinner? 2. Volkswagen faced controversy for 'fixing' the emissions output figures for its diesel engines. . What mileage had my Golf done at its last service? 3. In the recent Star Wars film, The Last Jedi, the late Carrie Fisher reprises her famous Princess Leia role for the last time. What did my son and I eat before we went to the pictures last night? 4. There were over half a million people aged 90 and over living in the United Kingdom (UK) in 2014. What's my mother's date of birth? I'll get the next 16 done and post them on Sunday. Any volunteers for refereeing and posting the results?

  21. If nothing else, Brabco and their representatives have probably done more recently to reach out to the wider community than successive DFC BoD's. Now whether anyone cares for Brabco or their proposals, please consider this: perhaps the current plans and process may actually represent a golden opportunity to put in place a truly functional Board for the first time in decades. I remain sceptical of the jigsaw falling neatly into place, but the closer the Trust is to the action the better chance we have of achieving that. One thing is for sure, the current North Korean management style will eventually kill the club, Championship status or not.

  22. Surely would make sense whatever happens to retain the junior cup as the top non league tournament in Scotland. Would be good if they invited Highland,Lowland, EOS, SOS and North Caledonian teams to take part. Perhaps in turn SFA could open access to senior cup also to more juniors and SPFL maybe look at some challenge cup involvement and scrap the colt teams & Irish and welsh clubs entering. Basically more collaboration in cup competitions small steps to longer pyramid integration.

  25. WTF are you people on here all about? Austin has been utter drivel this season, remind me how many goals he has scored? He dives all over the place, I'm for one thinks that Hartley has got this spot on... Get shot, both him and Hippo their attitudes look stinking. Body language tells all for me for both players. Loy is another who needs a move. The returning Messiah has not managed to score yet and we are almost at New Year...fcuk sakes Hartley needs to do something and fast or Div One play offs here we come. I don't get where the soft spots are for strikers that cannot score goals??? They can all GTF as far as I'm concerned, they've had their chance and it time to replace. I honestly don't understand this Love in pish for Austin and the patter he'll come back to haunt us? The only way he'll do this if we slip down to the seaside league, in reality that's his level IMO. Time to move on.

  27. http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/15287634.Jeremy_Corbyn__I_will_fight_tirelessly_against_independence_vote/ Funnily enough, he has historically always wanted NI to leave the UK. This is a prime example of his selective approach to issues - Ireland he cares about, for whatever reason, Scotland, he doesn’t. He’s content to be led on the issue of Scotland’s future (although broadly he appears to be against independence, and the right to decide again on it, because his Socialist vision only includes Great Britain).

  28. Yes of course. Former Rangers striker just saves valuable line space instead of 'former Rangers youth that managed one full 90 minutes amongst the handful of late substitute appearances he made in the fourth division for them before being deemed not good enough, kicked out and going on to make his name with other clubs at a higher level striker'. Yes, that's exactly what it is.

  33. I think that a lot of fans will end up finding a hotel or boarding house for the night unless you want to drive home from a game which could finish after 10 o’clock if there is extra time. I think we should regard this match as our Lisbon moment and devote the weekend to the game. With our next semi final due in 2050 we might as well make the most of it.

  37. As I've noted before: it's clear that for someone like Chic Young the top division must contain Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, Hibs, Aberdeen, Dundee Utd, Dundee, Partick, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, and - if it has to contain 12 instead of 10 - you're also talking St Mirren and Dunfermline (but possibly Falkirk or maybe St Johnstone). Think we'd previously established this actually happened about once. On TV deals - these are multi-year, and the value has also varied comparatively little deal to deal. Despite their "OF derby" clause, Sky didn't even cancel when Rangers went bust.

  39. I did think it was a bit weird Austin being brought on in the game the other night and then contract ended so soon afterwards. I wonder if Hartley is planning on doing some kind of apprentice based Ultimatum system between now and the end of the January window. "Unless that ball goes in the net Nathan, you're off to Livi" If so I really hope Mark Kerr is up next "If we get a single flat flighted free kick to the back post you're out of here"

  41. Whitehill have been to Wick twice in the past 3 years. Wick have a decent support. The gate was 400-500 both times I think and only a busload of away fans. We got half the gate at £8 a pop for adults. The SFA pays £400 if your journey is over 100 miles. The penalties for cards have been scrapped. You also get appearance money which this season is £2000 for round 1 alone. Also we got drawn away at Nairn this season. The SFA made it the featured tie so they paid the whole of the supporters’ bus which was £700 on top of the £400 towards the team bus. We got to pose with the cup and the cup was out in front on a pedestal when the players entered the field. Even though the gate was only about 300 that was over £900 for us.

  43. Deer are pretty frequent visitors to our garden but elk are a lot less common. We occasionally see them in the valley below our house, where there's abundant water but they spend most of their time at higher elevations. In 15 years; I've never seen them at the house itself but this morning, when I opened the curtains, there were about 50 of them making their way down the road. Not the greatest photo but I was half asleep.

  44. Here's a clue. It was started by Alert Mongoose. The man who was so in the know he told us in the summer that Stephen Dobbie was going to Motherwell, who also told us last year Mark Stewart was joining Queen of the South. These are just two of his previous "exclusives". Go search his posts. If Alert Mongoose told you it was sunny outside you'd be best advised to wrap up warm and wear a scarf.

  48. The figures aren't to improve the current site, so much as to bring it up to standard. It may be true that they are exaggerated but I haven’t heard that being said by anyone with any inside knowledge. I understand that they are based on estimates for the work. The main thrust of my posting was that there are still posts appearing here which are along the lines of “Go away nasty Brabco!” If the Dalmoak plan doesn’t go ahead for any reason then people should reflect on what happens to companies who fail in an investment and who have considerable contingent debt, which they have no chance of trading their way out of. This contingent debt will become real after any failure of the Dalmoak plan because the authorities have been mollified by assurances that we are moving. Thus maintenance issues on the pitch, the stand, the floodlights and the boundary wall have not been enforced but they would be by the various agencies on any failure of the Dalmoak plan. Add into the mix that Brabco will then have as their only asset and recourse to recovering their investment, a heritable site adjacent to a large and popular housing development worth maybe £2m. Just saying.
