  1. 'Scotland trades four times as much with England than Europe', we keep being told. Yet May says after Brexit, Britain will still be able to trade with the rest of Europe no bother. So what exactly would be the problem with trading with an independent Scotland in or out of the EU? Also, can someone explain why Britain is fighting so hard to keep us if we're costing them a fortune, we're benefit spongers, etc. If we're really costing them so much, surely they'd be delighted to cut us off?

  2. Regardless of whether Rangers were involved or not, it would be an absolute fucking disgrace if the court doesn't find in HMRC's favour. I hope that every single person that was involved in such a scheme gets taken to the cleaners for what they owe. The ordinary plebs who pay up without question are the folk that have to fund that shit, we should never forget that.

  5. It's a bit odd for people who profess to be uncomfortable with nationalism to prefer the jingoistic, Brexiting UK state. The UK is, as demonstrated by the last two referenda, more nationalistic than Scotland and, for my money, in a far more exclusivist, xenophobic way.

  6. Everything about these photos is just the worst. From the straw brained simpleton flicking the vickies at the photographer, to the shit, generic star tattoos, to the awful zebra print walls, to the floppy breasted, pot bellied forty something drinking blue drink, to the terrible dance moves, to the fat Gregor Fisher look-a-like dribbling lager down his £12.99 Officers Club polo shirt.... I'm no snob but I remember when working class people had a bit of dignity and class to them. Look at them now. LOOK AT THEM. Someone, I forget who, said Socialism died when you could no longer sympathise with the working man. This might just seem like a bunch of cretinous kidult goblins enjoying themselves but actually it's the end of hope in humanity. We are done. Finished. LOOK AT THEM.

  7. Some points - i'm very much pro self-determination and once independence is achieved there should be more devolution of power to local communities - more housing co-ops, community land ownership, community control over renewables etc... as we see in some Nordic countries. I don't see this as divisive - indeed we're reuniting Scotland with the international community and not being over-ruled by just one nation ten times our size. I'm very much an internationalist - I'm half-immigrant, albeit a 'white' one and my partner is EU. My kids speak three languages. As to Scotland, as Elaine C Smith said, it's not that we're better than anyone else, it's just that we're as good as anyone else. Your second point is... bewildering to put it politely. Patriotism.. well, most Unionists I've heard say that they're proud patriotic Scots but not Nationalists. No Scot should feel ashamed of their own culture and most of us display patriotism at some point - usually sporting events. Nowt bad with that whatever your view on the constitution. As to anti-Englishness - I'd love to see examples of this. The Yes movement was patently multi-cultural including many English people and people of all races. Sure, there are bigots to be found in Scotland but unlike the Brexit movement, race, immigration or xenophobia played no part in Yes.

  8. May could quite clearly agree to do so: she could have came out yesterday to the media and said "Scotland has a right to hold a referendum on date x; the Tories will of course be campaigning for a No vote". There's absolutely nothing to prevent May from doing so. The reason why May doesn't want to fight a referendum on the SNP's timetable is because her Brexit negotiations will be in a state of utter shambles at that point, so she would rather shunt whatever God-awful deal she gets through an utterly craven Westminster Parliament, before then telling Scots to sit down and eat their cereal. Which is why she has spent the entire time floundering, ever since the Scottish FM magnificently sunk May's plan to invoke Article 50 at the start of this week. The only thing that Sturgeon could have possibly known in the above situation is that May is a complete moron with no political nous in a high-stakes situation. Playing that advantage is exactly what the Scottish people should demand from their highest political representative.

  10. My daughter arrived in the car back at her house earlier. She saw an obviously drunk couple walking along the road so she decided to wait until they had passed before getting the kids out the car. The guy disappeared into a neighbouring garden, probably for a piss. The woman kept staggering on for a bit then tripped and fell. After she had lain motionless for about 10 seconds, my daughter went across to check on her. The woman came to and my daughter helped her up. The guy reappeared and my daughter handed the woman over and told him that he might want to get her home pretty quickly and stick her in a shower. When the woman had fallen over, she landed face first in dog shit and it was all down the side of her face and in her hair.

  12. Derek Rae tweeted this quote by Ian Cathro which sums up a lot of Scottish football broadcasting etc for me I'm not saying that we need to have ultra analytical, dry programmes reading out expected goal stats and talking about false nines, but if we could actually talk about the sport a bit more rather than bringing out ex players to spout cliches then Sportsound etc would be far better.

  22. Just so you know, you trotting out this pish, you flouncing off the forum after no won the last time, it isn't impressive. It isn't honourable, it isn't noble, it's tragic. You make yourself look pathetic and in the case of this thread you damage the cause you so childishly purport to think the only reasonable course of action. Wind your neck in and your fucking age, you clown.

  23. No I didn't; here is what happened: The Greens are quite clearly within the "independence supporter echo chamber" and that echo chamber represents 46% of the country according to the SSAS data and holds a comfortable majority in the Scottish Parliament. I didn't mention "the SNP" once - the only person who tried to equate the two separate camps was yourself. Because you're a particularly dim, Britnat roaster. Thanks for playing anyway.

  27. Yeah Swinson should start. With Gilchrist probably only 10mins until he shatters anyway! (now I've said that Gilchrist will run riot) Vernon is done. So utterly sad for the guy. Contract up at Glasgow and has not enough pace to play centre any more. Back Row he might have got a new deal but injuries have killed him. Such a shame for a cracking guy.

  30. You could spit peas through your flimsy defence. Your feet wouldn't touch the floor if it was up to me. "Mr Lichtie, is it common practice for employees in your role to be in the workplace overnight? Were you insured, were you within working time directives, did you inform anyone or seek permission? Take your eggy dipdip, Tommy soup and leave the building."

  33. My view is that not all decision-making is equal. Some decisions benefit from being made by those who are close to the issues. Social issues in particular, such as healthcare and education, should be tailored to the relevant population's needs. Decisions where effects cross borders, such as trade, economics and particularly environment, need effective international governance. If we all look out for ourselves, no one benefits, so coordination on an international level really is to the benefit of sensible decisions. Scotland also has an ageing population, and immigration from the EU is beneficial. On a personal level I agree with free movement fundamentally. Like you said, people are people no matter what. In the current UK situation we have the worst of both worlds. We're leaving the EU and all the benefits that brings, while still being governed by a parliament that doesn't reflect our population's problems. Holyrood is a halfway house that spends most of its time mitigating for the harm done by Westminster. The SNP's record in government hasn't been spotless, but they've done a passable job at worst. I think the internationalist case for Yes is much stronger this time around, post-EU ref.

  34. wow - totally unexpected fall from the top for gkneil. Had almost sent my brain cells away on their end of season break, not thinking I'd be anywhere near a play off. Heady days right enough and late Feb/Mar results have shown a good improvement since the, quite frankly, horrendous run of 2s, 3s & 4s in January.
