Thanks mate. Hope your son is ok and that his ongoing treatment is going well. Congratulations! I think your worrying has only just begun! Try not to though and enjoy what is a wonderful experience. Thanks mate. All the best to you and your family with your partners treatment too. It's a vile and horrible disease cancer. Just the look of the chemotherapy drug screams "toxic" or "poison"! Cheers guys. Appreciate all your thoughts and wishes. She had a heart scan yesterday to see if the cancer drugs have had any ill effects on its work and thankfully everything is normal. Another step on this long road done.11 points

Numerous consecutive days of rich food and bevvy are having an adverse effect on my loved ones. I just farted and my son, who is playing at the other side of the room, has just got a whiff of it and started crying.6 points

I actually think OF colts is an excellent idea, and in fact should be extended beyond football. For instance, the Daily Record is, in the big picture, a totally insignificant diddy paper. Nobody outside of Scotland reads it, with the exception of a few Scots in places like Corby, and its circulation has been in freefall for years now. It might be an old paper, it might be a traditional part of the Scottish media world, but it's also pish, irrelevant, desperately holding onto a terminally declining Labour party, and padded out with insubstantial drivel about celebrities and the Old Firm. Aside from sentiment, it offers nothing of value to anyone. Now, suppose it brought in some up-and-coming journalists from real, important papers - like the Washington Post, Le Monde or Die Zeit. They could serve their apprenticeships at the Record, and people who get subscriptions to those papers could get free access to the Record as well. Hell, the entire sports desk could be replaced with interns from L'Équipe. All these "colt journos" could write in their own language to prepare for careers at their own papers (who gives a shit if Record readers can't read French or German? Most of them can barely read English and, as demonstrated above, they and their paper are insignificant - so their real purpose is to further the nebulous "greater good" of journalism as a whole). India's top satirists could take turns producing the comic strips in Hindi - just think of how much better the comics in Indian papers will be in ten years! Why not? Why should paper be wasted catering to the tastes and desires of a dwindling handful of readers in some irrelevant diddy country at the arse-end of Europe, when it could be the host organism for developing something better for someone else in other places? How about it, shall we pitch this idea to the Record? They should be grateful that they'd be getting a chance to help journalism as a whole develop its next generation of hacks and bin-rakers.4 points

Give her her due, 2016 has been a bit of a shanner. David Bowie, wee Ronnie Corbett, Cue Card pumping me (twice!) Alan Rickman, Arnold Palmer, my cat Bentley dying, Prince, George Michael, Europe losing the Ryder Cup, my marriage going down the shitter, Caroline Aherne, the fact that Phil Taylor is still alive, my ceiling collapsing, Brexit, my Maw and Da basically abandoning me by moving 400 miles away (or something like that...) Donald Trump, and Clyde still can't seem to get out of the basement league. Only glad Kauto died last year or I might have hanged myself. So aye, here's to a better 2017. After this year, my resolution is to be alive, nothing more4 points

The decision by the U.S. not to use their veto in the U.N. resolution condemning the ongoing building of settlements in the occupied territories is one of the best and worst acts by Obama during his Presidency. The right decision for completely the wrong reason and five years after he could have supported a similar resolution for the right reasons and possibly influenced Israely policy in the intervening period. At least it will play some role in continuing to highlight the hypocrisy of the Israeli government who claim to want and end to the conflict with the Palestinians whilst carrying out acts that negate any chance of that.2 points

Wasn't there today so I'm not sure if he was indeed the man at fault for the two late goals, but it sounds as though Barry is singling out Junior for a lot of criticism in his post-match interview. I certainly don't think he's been as good this season as he was the last, when he was easily a 7 or 8 out of 10 performer in virtually every game. Once again, centre back looks like a bit of a problem area for us with McNeil far better utilised elsewhere and McNiff looking shaky whenever he's been deployed there. A lack of threat down the left side with a conservative and technically-lacking McNiff is also an issue. Keeping Perry is imperative, but unless he's already signed an extension I can't foresee him wanting to stay at a League 2 team fighting for, at most, a play-off berth. I truly hope we can unearth some gems in January and claw it back, but we'd have to perform a clean sweep against Forfar and Arbroath and then rely on numerous favours outside of that, including us not routinely bottling it in games. Once again, optimism (and boy, was there a lot of it heading into August) has given way more mid-season gloom. There obviously exist the whole bad luck/individual error factors, but even accounting for our current injury list, with the squad at Ferguson's disposal we should be doing better than we are just now - which is no better than Duffy managed after a similar "turnaround" period of 2 full seasons, with a team largely consisting of limited, but effective and well-drilled guff. Of the squad which bottled it at Bayview in 2014, I'd only really have Ferguson, MacDonald and McCluskey as starters if placed in our current pool. Ultimately, Barry has to carry the can for our current woes; he made a conscious decision to run with a tight squad and bin certain players and that has pretty much led us into a situation where we seemingly have guaranteed starters, while at the beginning of the season we appeared to have okay competition for places/cover for injuries. He should get until the end of the season and anything other than promotion should then result in a change. It's gradually getting more and more depressing as it slowly becomes apparent that in League 2, we may have found our level. A dwindling fan base (due to the prior point or for more political reasons) as the seasons go by, little or no investment from the owners or an external source, no stand-out revenue sources other than entrance takings and prize money, and no clear plan for the future (life after or at Broadwood). These don't exactly point to success at this level, never mind above it. This is now our seventh season in this division and we've just about managed to manufacture a semblance of a title challenge in only one of them, in what was a more competitive group of teams. With all things considered, that isn't anywhere near good enough. It's clear that the hopes of once again being caught in a League 1/Championship yo-yo can be swapped for presence in a League 2/League 1 yo-yo at best, unless something drastic happens. Merry Christmas! ETA: ^^^ seething2 points

After another busy day visiting family and eating far too much, this evening was the second installment of Operation: Assemble The New Toys. F**king hell! How secure does the packaging for toys aimed at a 6 year old need to be? Nearly blunted 2 pairs of scissors and a knife trying to get into the b*****ding stuff! And while I'm having a rant: Building a Playmobile hospital was a right fucking chore! Also, the blue recycling bins the council provide just aren't a sufficient size for the volume of cardboard and plastic waste generated at Christmas!2 points

I was about to post exactly the same thing, doing my head in. It's hardly a surprise that a range of old alky/druggy (delete as appropriate) pop stars have kicked the bucket. Why there seems to be the idea it's the fault of a random time period is even dafter.1 point

Thanks guys. Appreciate that. Since we were told of the tumour (it was two initially) back on the 6th we've had the best news we could have hoped for given the situation really. All you can do is break it down into small steps otherwise the enormity of just the word cancer leads to anxiety. We're 3 days into step 3 and her response is going well thus far. My wife and I just have to stay strong for each other and her really.1 point

We need a leader, Granny. Cometh the hour, etc. The forum could really use a section for fan action. If folk can spend so much of their time trying to oust other posters, surely a few minutes helping to STRONGLY ADVISE the SFA about their conduct shouldn't be out of the question.1 point
