  5. It's always hard to predict what'll happen, but looking at the different armies involved, and where the series is going, I thought I'd give it a shot. Jon's army will be approaching Ramsey's army when a blizzard strikes, making the first real evidence that Winter is Coming. This will give Jon's army a tactical advantage being as the Wildings are well accustomed to such conditions. Many in Ramsey's army are not and panic begins in the ranks. Ramsey manages to hold things together though, and rallies his troops personally leading formation as they plough into the smaller force. At this point the Knights of the Vale turn up, but in the chaos of the blizzard they slaughter as many of Jon's army as they do Ramsey's. Suddenly the blizzard stops, and a dragon's roar is heard. Bran and his pals are framed against the sun, and everyone looks up above the castle battlements... however, they then see that Sansa is standing atop the battlements screaming. She has her dress pulled up over her head, and where her clunge should be, she is as bald and flat as an action man. She has no fud. This explains why Ramsey kept bumming her. Everyone drops their weapons in astonishment, and the battle peters out of its own accord. Optimus Prime becomes king.

  6. Great running mate.I did the Mens 10k as well. Pleasant enough day for it, although we were running into a breeze for the first 7km or so. Still not far from ideal conditions. Was through 5k in 17'49", which is too fast, but held on decently well to finish is 36'38", which was good enough for 14th place. Not quite a pb (36'32" at Clydebank last month), but my second fastest 10k ever. The lack of anyone to run with probably cost me as I felt better than at Clydebank, although the Mens 10k course is undoubtedly a bit harder. Stull at least 3k and 5k pbs and my two fastest 10k times ever in the last month show I am in great form for a change! Who knows, I might even catch the flying Hawkins brothers (1st and 2nd - both sub 30 mins and both going to Rio to run the Marathon for Great Britain) some day...... yeah right lol! Anyway it was an enjoyable race and the roadside support was fantastic in parts. Aside from 3k on the Green and parkruns that is probably my last race until August.

We are hoping to have a limited edition fanzine for sale for the opening game of the season, all money going to Gordon's fund as the folk who the programme have generously offered to print it free of charge. The fanzine will cost £2 and we will have 500 copies for sale outside the ground. It is shaping up to be a good read,we all remember the fanzine from Brockville and we hope it can be as good if not better than it. Help get G home for only £2

  19. That is exactly how Traynor would spin it. He hasn't half reeled you lot in. You didn't really need it though, tbf. Holt doesn't have a media scrum following him for comments 24 hours a day. Rangers got two young players, with potential, under perfectly however questionable, legal regulations. The fee is nominal. The Rangers have had months to agree the small fee. Clubs do not have to wait until Fifa decide the fee. The Rangers still haven't paid it. The Rangers have been called out for it. Holt has refused them permission to train because they haven't been paid. The Rangers came up with one of their usual off the shelf excuses. When buyers make a purchase it is the buyer's job to go and pay the money to get the goods or services. In this case the players are being held back because the Rangers haven't paid for them. How simpler could it be? Pay the money, you reprobates.

  21. Nice one, Bishy. The title and the glory is on! Great going Gaz, that's a good chunk out of a 10k time. I ran the Midnight Sun Marathon in Tromsø last night. As much of a novelty as the 830pm start was, you soon forget all about it. It's been overcast the whole time & rocking up to the start, it felt like a regular early morning start. In a small field, me and a couple of mates started on the 'second row', closer to the front than we'll ever get! Ran along with one of them for 30k before I started to fade; a 3h 12 time drifting out to a 3h 18 by the end for what was my second fastest time. Happy with that. My legs hate me today. Marathons are hard.

  29. Celtic wanted to postpone a match on the second week of the season for a friendly. You can only cancel home match, which means they had to be at home on week 2. That meant they had to be away on week 1. Given that both games would have likely been on the TV, there would have been no issue at all in scheduling both clubs at home on the same matchday.

  31. I first started getting it when I was 9, had the red eyes and gushy nose for about 2 weeks and thought it was a weird cold. Fell down a flight of concrete stairs and skelped my head (it was the night of Zidane's wonder strike at Hampden) & had to get taken into hospital. Got the head checked over and everything was sound but they kept me in for this b*****ding hayfever (they had no clue it was that until the next day). Had it brutal from 9-18 but it seems to have calmed down the past couple of years to the extent of now I don't even take tablets anymore as I haven't felt the need to. Wouldn't wish it on anyone it's horrible. Ps f**k you Romeo you attention seeking c**t.

  34. Ah pre season. The usual hilarious over-reactions, signings slaughtered and cliche bingo in full swing - 'gee the lad a chance' and 'on his back before a ball is kicked' are my personal favourites to come up so far. Hopefully someone can lament the fact we don't have a 'creative midfielder' or a '15 goal a season striker' in the coming weeks. Managers and players come and go, but some things never change.

  35. I have followed Raith for 50 years and seen the ups and downs. I can't understand the pessimism if some fans. Ok we will never be a Celtic or a Rangers but in the nineties we were so close to finishing in a European slot through our league position and if the board at the time had shown the same ambition as Jimmy Nichol we probably would have. So have faith boys, look at Leicester. Plus we ain't in danger of going bust at present. A few clubs probably are. I think we can emulate last season. Give the management a chance. I come over from Derry quite often to see the team and find it really annoying that people who are living locally can't be bothered to go and support their local team COYR

  42. I returned home yesterday. For anyone stumbling across this thread in the future, here's a short summary. Macedonia. I found it fascinating due to the blatant corruption and slow transition to dictatorship. They've transformed the centre of Skopje and every shoddily created statue was overpriced and the difference pocketed. For example, they've planted willow trees in the river at an official price of €200,000 each. They were unnecessarily flown in from New Zealand and even taking into account such extravagances should only have cost €40,000. Bitola was a nice city with excellent Roman mosaics half an hour's walk from the centre of town. The site is a lot larger but hasn't been excavated due to lack of funds, I'm sure they'd rather have willow trees and shitty statues though. Ohrid is beautiful but prices have risen a lot since my last visit and with the onset of direct flights from Luton will likely increase. Not much of interest besides walking around the lake, some old churches and a bit of hill walking. Albania. An excellent country to visit. It's very cheap (lunch and two beers at a cheap restaurant, three course meal and bottle of wine at the best restaurant in town, plus four glasses of wine at various cafes came to just over a tenner in total). The main cities each have a very different feel to them which is a nice change to regions like central Europe where it feels like you're visiting the same old town square no matter where you go. The scenery is stunning, beautiful mountains topping out at 2,750m plus a long coastline. There has been very little foreign investment so the country retains a very Albanian feel, I'm not sure supermarkets even exist outside of the capital. There's plenty of interesting stories in Albania which the locals don't often deem worthy of mention: a girl who was offered thousands of Euros for her Italian passport; a guy who bought a fake Italian passport, made it to Dublin and spent a week in jail before being deported; someone whose brother was a dentist but never sat any exams and simply paid for his qualification; farm labourers earning €50,000pa for tending marijuana crops. The people are very open and friendly, and not due to social norms as is often the case but out of simple curiosity and, to be blunt, most of them have nothing else to be doing anyway. The women are very good looking. I'd place them and Moldovans as the most attractive in Europe, they're also the two poorest in Europe but I'm not how much of that is coincidence. Kosovo. It was very interesting to visit Kosovo after Albania. Both are almost entirely populated by ethnic Albanian's but as a result of politics have been separated by one hundred years of history (and for fifty of those, Albanian's weren't allowed to leave their own country). So it was interesting to see how the two countries have diverged. My initial impressions were that Kosovans were fatter and worse drivers (Albanian's have only had cars for twenty-five years). Aesthetically, Kosovo is a shithole. There has been no regulation to the planning and with so much destroyed in the war there are half-finished buildings dotted around the country and the main roads are lined with light industry for their entire length. There are some decent sights and beautiful nature in Kosovo, but nothing which can't really be found elsewhere. My highlight was undoubtedly a day in Mitrovica/Mitrovice where I wish I'd stayed a couple of nights. North of the river is mainly Serb and the south is predominantly Albanian. Payment in Euros on one side and Dinar on the other. In the Albanian half young people sit outside at cafe's sipping espresso while in Serbian areas old men hide away in tiny pubs drinking beer. I was there on Monday and of course in the Serbian part there was much good natured ribbing about Djokovic's victory over Murray, they don't like Ana Ivanovic though as she posed for a photo with Clinton (who has a statue in Pristina). In short: Macedonia decent, Albania very good, Kosovo interesting. Berat, Albania. View from my guesthouse bedroom window, Theth, Albania. "Kosovo is Serbia - Crimea is Russia" mural, Mitrovice Mitrovica, Kosovo Serbia.
