  1. My beautiful wee man was born today at 0540 7pound 4.5 so he's only wee! 9 hours of labour, tired emotional but he's amazing. Good few complications not noticed in the scan which led to monitoring machine placed on his head and the placenta being attached to the cord which could have caused drastic problems if not managed amazingly by the midwife at the RIE. God bless him and my other half who was a tired, sore emotional wreck but still done it. X

  2. Ryan Edwards. Ryan Edwards. Ryan Edwards!! Surely Edwards is ahead of Fraser in the pecking order. I really think with a full pre season with the squad Edwards is going to be a key man for us next season.

  4. Have to disagree with you their, the pitch was reseeded at the beginning of May, along with other work carried out on the pitch. Clearly the Club was being sensible about the request for 2 away games at the start of the Betfred Cup but the SPFL could not oblige. Hopefully the pitch will be ready on time for the Falkirk game and as I have stated above if major improvements to the pitch are to be carried out then clearly it does take time for the pitch to recover. Surely at the end of the day, the club should be praised for trying to improve the standard of pitch that was laid over 20 years ago when the ground was built.

  13. It seems like anytime someone on here posts a story of something they've seen or done, someone else feels the need to claim it's made up. Fair enough if someone is claiming to have pumped Hayden Patenniere but stuff like "I shat in my mates kettle" really isn't that far fetched. Normally seems aimed at the usual suspects like Throbber, Grimbo or Tabby Dave.

  14. CJ gets on my wick when he gets knocked out of the Final round and then pulls a sarcastic face when someone gets a question wrong as if to say everyone should know that. You weren't smart enough to get to the final so you're in no position to mock others ya tube. Yes it is the lawnmower and there's no need to call someone a dick.

  18. Still fantastic to this day. He had 3 good games for us, 2 of the 3 were on TV and the other was attended by Allan Moore. Absolutely fantastic.

  23. Combination of genetics and training. If you have it in your genes then decent training can get you far - no matter your age. There are loads of top runners in races in Scotland who didn't start until running until into their 30s. Fat, overweight smokers who did no exercise (like myself). I ran half heartedly for 12 months to get fitter for playing 5s, starting at the age of 36. I then trained more seriously for 18 months until I got injured. I had my 10k time down to 35.15 and my HM down to 1.22 when I injured my knee and had to give up. Some of the guys I trained with, with similar background to me, are now down to 32/33 10k times and sub 1.15 HMs. Kerry-Liam Wilson is a cracking example of a top athlete (not a guy I trained with mind you!) He took it up later in life and has a 10k PB of 31.29 and HM of 1.08. If its in your genes and you train hard then you can very fast very quickly. I gave up running for 7 years and am now back at the age of 46. I have bad arthritis, run with a limp that is so bad that folk notice it and ask what is wrong. I do no more than 2/3 runs a week with a max mileage of 15 miles. In less than 12 months I am back running sub 40min 10k and sub 19min 5k. Oh, aye, and another thing. The lighter you are the faster you can run. Get rid of as much weight as you can without looking like a skeleton and you won't believe the difference. 2 secs per lb per mile. Lose a stone and that's around 3 min for a 10k... without doing anything else.

  25. I would agree with this, but I also think Fraser is very poor in that role, he's hopeless defensively and it encourages him to play too many of his Hollywood passes. I'd only really play Edwards as the front of a 3 man midfield which is where I see his competition with Fraser. At the moment Welsh is the only guy who can play the sitting role with Osman.

  26. Edwards was getting bossed by Draper the other week. We need someone else beside Osman that's not Edwards, Fraser or Welsh.

  27. I think Edwards will have a good season, but he's only looked comfortable to me in the middle of the three behind the striker. I don't think he's strong enough to play in the role beside Osman. Time will tell.

  30. More of a mixture for 10k. I have done everything from 200m to 1km when training for a 10k. Right now I am doing my intervals on the treadmill and it seems to be working well. Doing just 10 mins four times a week. Three of those are 6 reps of 1 min and 1 of 40 secs at 20km/h with a 30/20 sec active recovery at 12km/h. The other is 4 reps of 2 mins at 18km/h with 30 secs of active recovery at 12km/h). This is a gruelling short session that I usually do right after a 30 mins spin class (sans the 18km/h one which is on a Wednesday evening before I go to GRL). It can be amended by reducing the sprint/recovery speed.

  34. Thanks mate. Yes, I scrubbed up and apparently I suited the scrubs lol. Without a doubt being there for the section was the most traumatic thing of my life. I felt completely helpless and because of the anaesthetic she was shaking continually and I was in tears pretty much the whole time. Yes, I'm a wuss. I just wanted to help her but could do nothing but hold her hand and talk to her all the time. I was absolutely fucking petrified of something bad going wrong. Thank f**k it's all done and ok, and I will never forget the moment the surgeon held my daughter up and said congratulations. I will also never forget the next 30 minutes after that as I held my daughter whilst they tried to stem the bleeding and get my wife sorted. That felt like ten hours. The fucking NHS. Anyone who criticises them can f**k right off.

  35. Aye you need to be a bit careful with Clyde fans. They're awful precious. Always harking back to the days they were relevant even though they're now only about the 4th biggest club in the bottom tier. Word of warning about Berwick fans, they'll be hoping you amalgamate with Hibs and Hearts at some point in the near future to form an Edinburgh City team only. Atleast you'll get to keep your name. The Mo fans are the happy lot of the forum. Literally get absolutely buzzing over signing bang average players and finishing 8th. Harmless lot in reality except from when they face us and the #MoYoungTeam come out in force with their smoke bombs and thuggery. It's been a while since we've had Forfar in the league so can't comment to much on the Bridie munching fermers but watch yourself at Cowdenbeath. Quite a few neds in their support at their ram shackle stadium and they hate moving ends at half time and love scrapping. Not a friendly bunch. BE A WEAR. Stirling fans are fine on the whole but be prepared to hear them criticise your ground. Heard on numerous occasions about Gayfields crumbling terracing from them. They can be very critical of grounds/stadia. Annan are quite a quiet bunch and Pismoondo loves a post after being on the bevy. A sound bunch on the whole but they do not seem to rate Kevin Nicoll for some reason which makes me believe they don't have much footballing knowledge. As Kevin Nicoll is a footballing genius. Elgin fans are a good bunch that are Craig Gunn daft, which makes total sense, good ground and social club. And of course the Arbroath fans, Angus' premier football club, are all very very #dece on the whole and the team plays football #TheArbroathWay. We are also world record holders and we love to go on about it. Enjoy and I look forward to a day trip to Edinburgh.

  42. In my 1000th post on P&B, i just wanted to say how much of a pleasure it has been watching Rangers bounce from embarrassment to embarrassment over the last 4-5 years. Watching their fans squirm and mentally contort themselves into accepting the latest indignity brought on by their own hubris and general unlikeability has been wonderful. More so because I have been able to share it with the good folks of P&B. Here's to another century of Rangers doing what they do best. Cheers.

  43. As long as Mon Dieu puts it together with some visual accompaniment, we'll be fine. Having read through the last ~20 pages of this thread I'd been thinking of various reactions to say about different things, but I can keep it more concise. The first Rangers statement about their fans showing "restraint" felt like it came from some sort of alternate reality. The second one sounds like someone taking the piss. No aspect of that statement - including as Ad Lib pointed out the blatant lie within the first sentence - reads like it could be sincere. More on that lie. "Rangers finds it incomprehensible that no one, either from within the Scottish FA or Hibernian Football Club, has condemned Hibernian’s supporters following the violent scenes at the end of yesterday’s Scottish Cup final when Rangers players and members of our backroom staff were physically and verbally assaulted." Disregarding the hilarious "verbal assault" line, because that never happens at a football match, within minutes of the end of that match the head of the SFA had slithered out from wherever he hides telling us "[The] Scottish FA is appalled by the scenes of disorder on the field immediately after full time and at the contemptible behaviour that ensued. What should have been an historic, memorable Scottish Cup final will now, sadly, be remembered for all the wrong reasons." No it won't. Within seconds too of fans coming on the pitch Liam McLeod was telling us on the BBC that it was scenes reminiscent of 1980 - well, no it wasn't. It's worth pointing out too that the soundtrack to seeing Hibs fans on the pitch at that point was a rousing chorus of the Billy Boys from the other end. No mention of that or other songs from anyone. No mention - a passing one in McLeod's commentary aside after the first goal - of the two smoke bombs in the Rangers end in the game. Given the Daily Record's hysterical reaction to everything in the aftermath of the match it's surprising this wasn't mentioned, given their own front page piece on the dangers of flares and smoke bombs in the week before the match. I think on the whole that the reaction of the police and the stewards was very good. As has been mentioned, they were probably expecting the match to go to extra time. At the point the winner goes in there's not enough time for the amount of stewards to get into position around the front of the stands, so people get on. Loads of people get on. I'd imagine that in the future now there will be a much more through deployment from officials in games like this, so if it turns out that this helps preventative measures in future games, great. I also think given the reactions of the Hibs fans who were goading the Rangers end that the police, the horses, the stewards in at that end did a very effective and very quick job of getting it all under control. There weren't as many Hibs fans giving it the GIRFUY as the Record et al would try to have you believe, but given the sheer amount of people on the pitch and the potential for much worse to happen, they were very good at keeping it under control. These points aside, I think I agree with what everyone else has said about the scenes at the end of the game. Nothing wrong with pitch invasions, although I would expect Hibs to be fined/billed for the damage caused to the pitch. I'd also expect that Hibs fans would be quite willing to pay for any such fine a hundred times over. I expect a third Rangers statement so lacking in self-awareness it tears a hole in the fabric of reality will appear when they get a token fine for their fans' actions at the end of the game too. There should be a fine for their singing, their smoke bombs, their fans going on to the pitch, their statements bringing the game into disrepute, but we all know that won't happen, if for the media's swift move to paint the whole match as the "riot" by Hibs fans and nothing else. Someone in this thread said at the time of the pitch invasion they were watching a Spanish stream and they were lauding the pitch invasion given the circumstances of the club winning the cup after so long. Only in Scotland could we see scenes like this only to have the reaction from all of the media and everyone in any position of authority in the game being not only to focus on the trouble, but to actively play down the actual match and the actual cup win. I'd love to say I was surprised by this.
