  3. Batman vs Superman - I'd quite like to address this film in detail, so I'll spoiler my thoughts below in order to save space. Respectable: The Mary Millington Story - documentary recounting the life of the Seventies British porn icon. A decent enough, and surprisingly explicit, watch, hampered by the fact that its subject isn't very interesting, outside of the prurience inherent in a character who was seemingly willing to bonk all and sundry. I couldn't help but feel that some of the talking heads were being allowed to bump up their roles in Millington's life, however, and the film ends with a fairly mean-spirited dig at her husband, happy to allow a few characters to heavily imply that he was married to Millington for her money and probably killed her, despite no apparent evidence. It's not hard to draw the conclusion that this was included as a GIRUY, as the man himself refused to participate in the film, and Millington apparently married HIM for financial reasons, according to the film itself. Look Who's Back - German film following the conceit that Hitler magically reappears in modern-day Berlin, and sets about establishing himself in society. Not at all what I was expecting, this is a reasonably convincing argument that a fascist demagogue with a strong enough personality could do well in the world today; we're not as different to our recent ancestors as we'd like to believe. Oliver Masucci is magnetic as a fitter, stronger Fuhrer than Bruno Ganz's portrayal was in Downfall, and there's a nice, unexpected parody of the famous 'Hitler receiving bad news' scene from the latter. A funny, compelling, and slightly unnerving look at how these people can reach an audience, which is as timely as ever.

  5. If a club has the potential and demand to sell enough tickets to achieve a 50/50 split of the allocation at a cup final then they should be allowed it. No ifs, buts or maybe's. Only an OF fan would think any different.

  6. I'll take you up on the bet; a grand each upfront(Kitty) or transfer money after the outcome(Walter Mitty Kitty)? My money is on it being the latter. I'll bet you a grand that it's the latter. eta: So now we've established that you're on another planet as you use Jupiter's calendar.

  8. I'm pretty awful at cross training. Do some core work, but not as regularly as I should; and I use the bike, but mainly as a commute to parkruns (6miles either way). Sounds like parkrun was mainly a success - another stonking week, true_rover, and hats off to you Chris. Bishy; just one of those days? Brighton marathon today: nailed it. 3:09:21, an 11 minute PB. Set off an 3:05 pace but backed off at 25k when I knew it was gone. I'm sunburnt to France. First half is lumpy rather than hilly, second half is basically flat. Decentt course with a few irritating out-and-backs. Still totally cheesing and boozing up at Gatwick now.

  12. To assist the sales staff and punters queuing for season tickets on Tuesday I have devised some acronyms that may be used to speed things along. Premier in South Stand Early Discount = PISSED as above in Turnball Hutton Stand = PITHED Senior Citizen Requiring A Premier = SCRAP Finance Incentive Season Ticket = FIST Not sure if the above ticket is available with Early Discount Just ask if you can get FISTED. Ladies will have their own A Pay Monthly Ticket =PMT Do not delay or you will pay the Full Un Discounted price and who wants to be a FUD Hope this helps.

  15. We stood by Gary Fraser kicking someone on the head, Lawless when he was in bother with the SFA for betting and we even offered Jordan McMillan a new deal after failing a drugs test. A few daft tweets aren't going to get a player sacked and nor should they.

  17. That was done in my head but a more scientific approach is laid out. Final payouts[1] 6th - £1,318,750 7th - £1,213,250 8th - £1,160,500 So 7th is around £105k worse off than 6th and 8th is around £160k. Attendances[2] Dundee V Aberdeen - 6327 Dundee V Celtic - 9566 Dundee V St Johnstone(1)/St Johnstone(2)/Motherwell(1)/Motherwell(2)/Ross County(1)/Ross County(2) - (6176, 4876, 5162, 4960, 5128, 5095; AVG - 5233) Dundee V Kilmarnock - 4970 Dundee V United - 11025 Dundee V Hamilton - 4568 Gate difference based on 3 home games being preserved: -4868 cat a, +4305 cat b. With the home game not being preserved, this adjusts to -4868 cat a, +9538 cat b. Ticket Prices (Adult/Senior, Student/Under 16)[3] Cat A - £25, £18, £15; Cat B - £22, £15, £12. It's impossible to know the distribution of gate sales among this category but if we are to assume equity among 3 groups (which I don't think is too far away), it comes out to around £20 for cat A games and £16 for cat B. Using this thinking means that with equal home games, the bottom half of the table results in £97.4k loss from cat A games but is negated with a £68.9k gain in cat B games giving a net loss of £28.5k. With an imbalance in the home games, there is a loss of £97.4k from cat A games and a gain of £152k with cat B games meaning an actual net gain of £54.6k. Overall Combining these gives: 7th - £134k worse off than 6th (£50k worse off with imbalance) 8th - £189k worse off than 6th (£105k worse off with imbalance) References [1] - Gate prices 2015/16 (2015) Available at: http://www.dundeefc.co.uk/news/gate-prices-201516(Accessed: 18 April 2016). 22. The Monuments Men Had pretty low expectations of this, as it got slaughtered by the critics. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised, Clooney, Damon and Murray all had solid performances and Hugh Bonneville was very good as the British soldier. Plot was average, with only a few moments of drama in the entire film. Still, would recommend. 7/10

  24. Traveling to places like Elgin and Annan and seeing us get beat makes days like this even more worthwhile. So happy for everyone involved with east Fife at the moment as you can see how much it means to them. Their are many photos and videos of us celebrating but this is my favourite photo! Big respect to him for this photo, dedicating the league 2 title to his dad!! Gary, a man who has faced many challenges, put under a lot of pressure, building a team with a low budget, fans calling for him to be sacked, players not performing to their ability etc. This honest, passionate guy, has pulled through and got us back to league 1! Winning a title is a great achievement at any age, but at 37, 2nd full season In charge, is even better. The board have stuck by him, and now the fans are starting to see why! "Good things come to those who wait" MON THE FIFE!!!

  31. We had a really good night last night, after having a long one the night before. Feeding has got a lot better (not yet perfect but a marked improvement on only 24 hours ago) and she's started to enjoy the Moses basket a lot more. Both me and the wife got a decent amount of sleep (albeit rarely at the same time). Nappies are filling nicely, weight is good (only lost an ounce), basically so far it's going as well as can be hoped for. It's hard work but rewarding. From what I can gather it's standard to have some good nights and some bad ones, but last nights really given a confidence boost. Fully expecting tonight to be a disaster to make up for it though!

  33. parkrun in Elgin today and got to run instead of volunteering. Despite 2 very hard club sessions through the week and a game of 5-a-side after work on Friday I went out and ran a PB. Haha! Delighted with myself. Official time was 25:29 but it's a *slightly* long course and my Garmin tracked a sub 25min 5k for the first time since the summer last year. Woohoo!

  35. Took my wee one hillwalking (a miniature form, walking over a huge hill in the middle of town near my house) recently and he got on great guns. Had taken yesterday off work to get some stuff done and had the day at home, about 11am I asked him if he fancied going out for a walk to get some fresh air and he says "want to climb big mountain", so we put our wellies and raincoats on and climbed it again, then spent an hour walking all round finding muddy puddles to jump in. Was the best Wednesday I've had in a while.

  36. Great result last night for the Bairns, it's unfortunate though that the fact you came from 2 down with 10 men to draw the game and you had over 1,300 fans at a midweek away game, you have a fraction of the budget of Rangers or Hibs, you will get next to zero publicity today due to the 2 cheeks of the same arse playing on Sunday. Really hope you get up to Premiership and look forward to some jousts at Firhill next season. Aero M is the man
