Amazing what a couple of months does. I'm feeling great right now. Work back on track, albeit part-time, doing plenty of exercise, emotionally a lot more stable, teaching again, self-esteem highest it's been in a long time. CBT really made a difference. I've been off medication for over a month now, and that has elevated my mood. Suspect they were being counter-productive. Occasionally find lethargic points, and self-doubt can kick in, but social anxiety is greatly reduced and I'm in as good a place as I've been for at least a year. Things do get better folks2 points

Don't get the shuttle bus from Newark. Get the train into Penn Station. Don't get a ticket offer. Never worth the money and don't get you access any quicker. Walking the Brooklyn Bridge and getting the train back is perfectly safe. That area of Brooklyn is very nice. If you went deep into the Bronx/Queens it might not be as safe but the main tourist areas are fine. You should map out where everywhere you want to go is so that you can spend days in different areas. Use the subway to get everywhere. Cheap and really easy to use. Tipping 20%, yep. Also tipping bar staff as well even if you are not eating. Instead of a Sopranos tour do a food tour of the Lower East Side. The best thing to do in NYC in my opinion. So many different types of food that you would never visit without a tour guide. Knish is the best food ever which you will get to eat on it.1 point

Could you imagine the reaction if Celtic sent a good luck message to Biton & Isreal.1 point

Yes I forgot my season ticket a few weeks ago. I went to the office paid for a ticket and they took my name and told me to bring my season ticket in next home game and they refunded me. You can't ask for fairer than that1 point

Yes and so should you. I don't want the supposed top team(s) in this country: Supporting the opposition of our national side Talking our game down at every opportunity Telling everyone else they're shite / not good enough / holding them back Hooring themselves to any passing league structure that meanders past, because jesus anything would be better than here Attacking trams, policemen (in civvies or not) or wrecking cities when representing Scotland in Europe. At least you won't catch a celtic fan waving a saltire so the uninformed might not realise they're from here. I don't think that's unreasonable.1 point

This has made the news in Australia! http://www.news.com.au/national/rush-hour/rush-hour-the-stories-you-need-to-know-today/story-fntolif3-1227562771235 But alas, the excitement was short lived as the paper clarified the incident and put an end to everyone’s jokes and general amusement. As Twitter filled up with photos of the supposed front page, The Courier newspaper took to their own Twitter account to say the sign had been doctored. “Much as we applaud and indeed champion creativity it is our solemn(ish) duty to point out this bill has been doctored,” the account posted. The paper’s news editor Alan Richardson confirmed to The Independent, “It should be ‘major jobs blow’”. Of course, someone had taken the poster out of its casing, cut out the words and rearranged them, he said.1 point

I think it's awesome - but it did raise a few questions about the possibilities of all the paras not only surviving the war but also surviving to old age - and then there's the plane surviving as well - did they take-off, get lost then return to base? Tinyeye - took me to a news story stating that it's just a bunch of vets sitting in a Dakota - nothing about it being the same plane or that they fought together. Old paras’ poignant trip to restored plane1 point

Ok, I'll play! I'm old school (or maybe just auld) so, imo, I don't feel that it should have been a foul because Taiwo played the ball first. Had it been obvious that he was attacking the man and not the ball then the contact on the ball would have been irrelevant but he wasn't. I think it's clear that he tried to play the ball and that's exactly what he did, contact with Law was unavoidable thereafter. So, tbh, I don't think it was a foul by either player but if we had to be pedantic about it and had to pick a 'culprit' I would say that Law hit Taiwo rather than the other way round. What I have a beef about however is that it's far too easy for refs to give the big team the decision under such circumstances and i think that's what Houstie was upset about. I have no doubt at all that the decison wouldn't have been given in our favour if the situation had been reversed, neither, I suspect, would it have been given to Dundee!1 point

It's the secondary attack wave. Which will undoubtedly be a squadron of bluebottles on roids stukaing their way in for the kill. I find that image utterly terrifying.1 point

Well fine guys! Managed 20mins of jogging this morning. Have ditched measuring distance for now as know injury and illness this yr means I'm no where near distance I was doing. Once back to comfortable half hr jog I'll add in distance. Would really like to do 10k in spring and gsr half next yr.1 point

Delighted with my 1:59:05. Precious little training and only 4 mins off my PB. Met Paula briefly before and went down to see her after. Was pretty awestruck to be honest. Great times guys. Brilliant.1 point

Well done Bishy, that is rapid! Congrats ark loyal, a solid time. Brilliant progress in a year, too. Are you feeling any more at home with the distance, SpoonTon? That time sounds quick for the Green pen (though I've no idea what the cut-offs actually were), seems you had a good one! I'm chuffed with my day, too. Got round in 1:27:24 to knock 2:29 off my PB from March; once Pollok Park was out of the way I was pretty confident I was on for a decent time. Did anyone hang around to meet Paula? I was going to go for it, but just missed the middle slot and had no patience!1 point

Arthur is our second greyhound. Our whippet was so lonely when Sandy passed on that we had to get another one. Both greys were ex-racers, who had never lived in a house before, so they had to learn how to climb stairs and be toilet trained. They are quite quick to learn though. Most greys are lovely friendly placid dogs. Our two definitely were/are. Some dogs are harder to rehome, but any greyhound rescue centre will be up front in keeping you informed about any potential issues. Unfortunately there are always lots to choose from at any rescue centre. They are not great with cats, and Arthur has to wear a muzzle when he's out as he occasionally forgets himself and lunges at very small quick-moving dogs. Sandy was fine with all other dogs. They only need 3 short 15/20 minute walks per day and will spend the rest of the day sleeping - they are sprinters, not marathon runners. I would definitely recommend getting one if you're looking for a dog. Ask me for any more info if you want, or for details of the various rescue kennels.1 point
