  1. Amazing what a couple of months does. I'm feeling great right now. Work back on track, albeit part-time, doing plenty of exercise, emotionally a lot more stable, teaching again, self-esteem highest it's been in a long time. CBT really made a difference. I've been off medication for over a month now, and that has elevated my mood. Suspect they were being counter-productive. Occasionally find lethargic points, and self-doubt can kick in, but social anxiety is greatly reduced and I'm in as good a place as I've been for at least a year. Things do get better folks

  3. Running about Princes Street Gardens with my mate when I was about 19, booting a football at innocent civilians feet and then taking them out with vicious slide tackles, shouting 'BIG SOL (Campbell)!' each time. A low point.

  5. Ok, I'll play! I'm old school (or maybe just auld) so, imo, I don't feel that it should have been a foul because Taiwo played the ball first. Had it been obvious that he was attacking the man and not the ball then the contact on the ball would have been irrelevant but he wasn't. I think it's clear that he tried to play the ball and that's exactly what he did, contact with Law was unavoidable thereafter. So, tbh, I don't think it was a foul by either player but if we had to be pedantic about it and had to pick a 'culprit' I would say that Law hit Taiwo rather than the other way round. What I have a beef about however is that it's far too easy for refs to give the big team the decision under such circumstances and i think that's what Houstie was upset about. I have no doubt at all that the decison wouldn't have been given in our favour if the situation had been reversed, neither, I suspect, would it have been given to Dundee!

  6. I don't particularly want to convince you that My Team: Alloa Athletic; but I am curious to know in a Popper-falsifiability sort of way whether there's any evidence that, in principle, could persuade you of that. Is there? I would have thought that I could have taken care of the Celtic thing (as opposed to the non-Alloa thing) with my previous explanation that they rank very close the bottom of my preferred-teams list. It's hard for a non-OFer to understand OF thinking* in this area: for most of the rest of us, expressing such a view about your own team would be unthinkable. So, bennett, that's a genuine question which I'll repeat: is there any evidence that, in principle, could persuade you that I am not a Celtic fan? * Perhaps that's the crux: for the rest of us, to a first approximation, Rangers and Celtic count as one choice. The OFers see their clubs, perhaps, as opposites; but the rest of us see them as a cigarette paper apart, and the opposite of all the other, non-OF teams. Just my conjecture, although it would go some way to explaining why there's this "one of them" thinking that completely baffles non-OFers like me. [edited to spell bennett's name properly]

  7. Too late. He's in to 5/4. That said, if you lump on, you're still looking at a very decent, four-toastie Breville number at that price.

  8. What tragic, snottery states the Newcovians get themselves into, it's both humorous and pitiful to see. The club, Rangers FC, founded 1873 or thereabouts went into liquidation. It was a company too, since it was incorporated into one in 1899. It was latterly 'held' by the Murray Group. Their assets were sold to a new company which is also a club. They were known as Sevco Scotland, but changed their name to The Rangers in 2012. This is the club they now support. This company/club is 'held' by Rangers International. It's all extremely straightforward, I wonder why they have such difficulty with it?

  10. GK - Bain – Future Scotland Keeper. I’m not even mentioning Utds options as I’d probably trust our subby keeper before any of their choices as he’s at least played first team football. DR -Ryan McGowan – Full international, solid and aggressive. I like him. DL -Kevin Holt – Dixon is brutal nowadays. DC -Julen Extabeguren– Our best centre half IMO DC –James McPake – Our 2nd best centre half – I’m not touching Durnan for obvious reasons, Morris can’t stay fit, Dillon is past it, Donaldson I liked the look of but limited viewing so can’t throw him in. MC – Kevin Thomson – played more games this season, class act. Honorable mention to Souttar who might make it one day but by all accounts has been worse than a man down this season and Rankin who I like but seems to be hated by DABs MC – Nick Ross – Neat and tidy, never loses the ball, has an eye for a pass. Tough one – could easily be Paul McGowan, Nicky Low or Scott Fraser – Arabs will throw him in no doubt as he’s the next “prodigy” AML – Blair Spittal – Only because no-one has seen enough of Riccardo Calder yet and Spittal played like a boss in the derby. Erskine maybe in with a shout as well if he can play left. AMC – Gary Harkins – Well it’s not going to be Bodul is it outside him I’m not sure who Utd play here anymore. AMR – Greg Stewart – Cutting in to that delightful left foot – best player in the team. ST – Billy McKay – I love Loy, I like Hemmings and Muirhead, Bodul is from the Luka Tankulic school of signings and Murray is a plumber. At the end of the day you really cant argue with Billy McKays record up here ETA I typed that in an Outlook e-mail at work - the formatting has blown my mind but I'm not changing it. Soz.

  12. :bairn I've lost count of the number of flukey, undeserved, single goal wins QP have had against Montrose in the last 15 years. Then the QP sages come on here afterwards and say defiantly "I'll take that". So, for one, we grind out a good win with a streak of fortune, and I can come on and say "I'll take that".

  13. Some of the things you read on here are unbelievable, another thread was locked, certain people saying they are glad to see the back of a referee and a ban is welcome? Unreal, as I said I have seen my fair share of dodgy decisions from refs and I have shouted at refs, u move on every team will say they have had a dodgy ref and they are easy targets for managers to use as an excuse for a defeat, but some of the stuff being said is unreal. The ref haters on here can scream for bans and then they can come back on and start a new thread about games being cancelled because there is no refs, some people need to get a grip

  20. If anyone was paying attention when the squads were announced they'd have noticed that we had 1 extra player than the previous squad. Hence Mulgrew's inclusion. By all means don't let that distract from cranial detachment but IMO I don't really see the problem and I think taking one of the 21s out of their squad would have been a waste

  25. We lost 7-1 at Queen of the South and I was too rubber so left after the 4th went in. Staggered to the main entrance saying I'm waiting for John Brown to appear, almost getting arrested as I wasn't for moving. Leaving eventually as I didn't want a weekend in Dumfries, I walked up the main stretch of road outside the ground and the team bus went past and stopped at traffic lights. Cue me throwing my scarf at the bus, hurling abuse at the players and offering the whole team a square go. Thankfully none obliged as they'd have ripped me to shreads. Think I was 17 at the time.

  28. I took my Dad down to a game for his 70th and there are no tours on the day of a game, but if you are there on the day after or the evening before it might be possible. You can book this via the Manchester United website. As has been said the national football museum is now in Manchester. I have not visited it there but when it was at Preston North End it was always a good place to go and is not as "Engerland 1966" centred as I had assumed it would be. The ground is also near all the media city developments but they are probably a bit young to be interested in this. Take them back to the past of Dundee and go on the trams as something different to get back from the game.

  29. Honestly not bothered about this game, the team don't really deserve to qualify imo. Been telling the local Polish they're going to win.

  30. Nope, wrong (yet) again!!!!! For your information (and Kincardine too), it was ME who brought up the Bill Miller thing and how it is the same as the trick Green pulled. Others have since noticed it too, but it was just me at first. I've been like a dog with a bone on that one!! But I suspect from your posts bennett that you'll just do the usual "la-la-la can't here you!" (where is the emoticon for that on there?) Anyway, irrespective of who said what and when - fact is, you guys are complete HYPOCRITS - Miller = death, Green = carry-on (and pretend it's all ok....). And THAT is why the media, rangers fans etc NEVER bring up Bill Miller anymore. Myths to live by eh? Cue the revisionism......

  31. Well he failed then. He cranked up the pressure by introducing an unpleasant tension that was totally unnecessary.

  32. It's quite simple - even you should understand. When Bill Miller was sniffing around with a highly dubious plan for rangers, he was run out of town by your lot because you all saw it (and the media) as the death of rangers. Yet when Charles Green did the exact same thing post-CVA you guys were forced to accept it AND PRETEND that it now meant no death to rangers (ha ha ha). Your collective amnesia about this is quite pathetic. But hey - myths to live by eh? Cue the revisionism............

  37. Refs at junior level cant win, the game is watched by two managers of either club who purely view the game from their own teams perspective so every decision for their team is a great decision and every one against makes the ref incompetent and worst official in the world, its shocking the way officials are treated, like a previous poster said you try do your job while 22 players, managers, assistants, fans are constantly on your back, with it also being such fast paced sport decisions at times will be wrong but 99% of the time the officials are spot on. Managers, Assistants, Players, Committee are always looking to blame the officials instead of themselves.

  39. Lost my dad very suddenly recently. Had bowel cancer but Docs told us he was in good health and he was booked in for a standard op (He actually looked very well, not just saying it) in couple of weeks.... Went on holiday to spain (Doc confirmed i should go) with wife and my wee girl,Her 1st holiday abroad and we got a call to say my dad had collapsed,He was in HDU unit and was being prepared for his op that day & they would call me but perhaps to arrange transport home just incase... Two hours call came to say they opened him up and it wasnt good. Cpl hours to live and i needed to get home(This was at 0300 hrs on sunday mornin) First flight out wasnt till 12 midday but my dad had passed away by then of achemic bowel... This was all 4 weeks ago. Im still not right,Scared to go to docs (Not wanting the usual pill job) but in my line of work dealing with customers im not in the right frame of mind when some empathy needs to be shown when their car breaks down (Big thing to them) & im finding it very difficult to apply considering my own circumstances... This place might not be the right place to show emotions but nothing feels right just niw,Hoping One day i might feel myself again. Just doesnt feel like it
