  1. Had a cracker of a run today in the 10k. Got around in 36'53" which is my best time this year and 12 secs outside a pb (on a far quicker course). Really pleased with that!

  5. 1.46.18 in the GSR today. I'm not particularly comfortable with the distance so I decided just to go out pretty quick and give myself something to try to hold onto. Was just trying to keep the legs going at the end but about 3 and a half minutes off my pb so I think it paid off. Strange experience for the first 2 or 3k though. I was in the green group (can't remember what time I put down) and because I decided to go out quite hard I had about half a dozen runners in front of me but no one behind for a couple hundred metres by the time I got to the top of the hill. I had caught up on the tail end of the white group by the bridge, but was very quiet until then.

  6. 1:37:48 for me at the GSR half today. 30 seconds off taking 10 minutes of last years time which was my target. Can't complain about that. Now targeting a sub 20 5k by the end of the year before the training begins for the Edinburgh Marathon next year.

  13. Delighted with my 1:59:05. Precious little training and only 4 mins off my PB. Met Paula briefly before and went down to see her after. Was pretty awestruck to be honest. Great times guys. Brilliant.

  14. Well done Bishy, that is rapid! Congrats ark loyal, a solid time. Brilliant progress in a year, too. Are you feeling any more at home with the distance, SpoonTon? That time sounds quick for the Green pen (though I've no idea what the cut-offs actually were), seems you had a good one! I'm chuffed with my day, too. Got round in 1:27:24 to knock 2:29 off my PB from March; once Pollok Park was out of the way I was pretty confident I was on for a decent time. Did anyone hang around to meet Paula? I was going to go for it, but just missed the middle slot and had no patience!

  17. I also like Fowler and think he is a very promising coach. I agree with Skyline - games against say Rangers, Hearts last season an Hibs are bonus games. We are underdogs BUT if you get great results the club benefits enormously :- - club gets massive kudos via press and perhaps tv - fans get a big boost from beating clubs of this stature - players start to believe - that is what happened last year I would argue that our two home wins against Rangers are amongst the best in the clubs history We achieved those wins by deploying a formation that gave us good options up front. As soon as I saw the team yesterday my first reaction was comfortable and boring home defeat. These are bonus games to some extent - BUT surely it is better to go at the opposition and keep home fans entertained. Fowler has done well no doubt about that but he should stop this tactical nonsense that is very typical of the sort of stuff that comes straight out of a Largs blackboard. As others have said we had 3 other decent forward options yesterday - with pace and enthusiasm in abundance. I am one of the "mugs" ( at least that is the printable view of my mates) who travels a 160 round trip to home games - and there are many others who do same- but there is no way that I want to make that trip only to find that our Manager clearly rates the opposition as " out of our grasp" and sets up with an isolated lone striker and a firmation designed to scrape a result. It seldom works and makes for very unentertaining fare. Fowler is a promising Manager but lets play like we did at Riath in defeat - attacking, getting men forward and playing entertaining football. That is not an unrealistic objective in my view.

  24. Getting back to hidden bongo...(which is the word I'll be using to describe scud from now on, BTW)... If you ever buy used DVDs, always take a look behind the wee pamphlet that comes in the case. Like hiding money in books, people seem to think DVD cases are a good place to store their naked pictures. Then they forget about them, or some jakey breaks in and pinches their collection...one way or another, the DVDs end up in Cash Converters, who put them straight out on the shelves. Let us all know how the now-inevitable search of your pals' DVD collections goes
