  2. Sounds like a Lord Percy Blackadder sketch. "Gary, we need a new manager, ideally someone cheap and out of work..." "Yes m'lord...??" "Can you think of anyone?"

  3. Pardon me if l don't buy all this pish and faux concern about how the Scottish game is perceived. It was only a few years ago that the two ugly sisters were trying to GTF to any league other than Scotland to play in.

  4. I agree with that too - I probably am a bit negative regarding our potential in Europe. The last two seasons, we've managed to knock out Rosenborg and Luzern (both teams were miles ahead of us technically, but didn't have our heart) then lost to two teams that weren't as good in Minsk and Spartak Trnava. Spartak wasn't so tough to take as they were a decent, albeit beatable team. Minsk were absolutely fucking rotten and if we'd gotten through that game, we would've drawn Standard Liege - a team who at that time were probably about on a par with Rosenborg. If we'd been more positive at home in both of those ties, then I think we would've got the results required to get through. There is definitely a lot to be positive about in the domestic game though. Take out the title race as that's a forgone conclusion anyway, the Premiership teams do try and play positive attacking football. There's been one 0-0 draw in the Premiership so far this season (Inverness at home to Dundee) and only 4 matches have been draw (all, bizarrely, involving Dundee). The Championship, which is always an exciting league, has a potential 3 horse race (realistically 2 as Hibs look shite). Both of those sides would at least have fancied a tilt at the top 6 this year with their respective squads. I know you guys have suffered a horrendous 2 or 3 years now. If that turns around (which I think it will eventually) hopefully the bitterness on both sides can subside and we'll be left with a better, more competitive league.

  5. To be perfectly honest, I'm not that bothered about perceptions abroad or lack of title races or whatever else the Rangers fans say make Scottish football shite. Like you with Rangers, I just like going to see my team play. I've been lucky over the last 3 years in that my team have won a trophy and I've seen us achieve two excellent victories in Europe whilst playing some very good, effective football. That wont last forever and I'm sure we'll be in the Championship again before too long, pining for the days of Tommy Wright, Stevie May, Murray Davidson etc but that's football. I'll still be showing up at McDiarmid Park (if we've not moved) every second week to watch it regardless. It'd be nice for the Scottish leagues to return to former glories, with all of our teams competing regularly in the latter stages of European competition, but times have changed. Bigger countries have bigger crowds and tv audiences which mean people pay more to broadcast their matches. They can then afford better players, which pulls them further ahead of us. Such is life. With regards to the overall quality, I don't think it's gone down that much. Obviously we've got less financial clout than we once did (and also without a basket case Rangers) and we're having to unearth gems from scrap heaps/rely on players from youth squads more. Surely though that'll help the leagues in the long run? The younger, mostly Scottish, guys will develop earlier, get their moves and the National side will improve. With any luck, teams in Scotland will get transfer fees, like United and ourselves have managed this summer. Or is that overly simplistic?

  6. European campaigns used to START in september so 'out by xmas' was not that much worse than nowadays. Now they start in July to cater for bloated group stages featuring multi entry Big TV Audience nations.

  9. Thought I might give an update since it's been a while. This time last year I was defeated, morbidly obese and struggling for motivation, applied for a job which I got. Since then I've done the following. Finished an abusive relationship which left me mentally weak Lost 3 stone in weight Started my new job Began saving again towards a mortgage It's been a long year, but I feel better then I ever have, I do feel down at times, but to me it's more if I've had a long day or been ill.

  10. That's not exactly how i remember it at all. I remember just being relieved to have a club to support and to be able to see Rangers playing again. I remember saying on here i couldn't give a f**k if we ever won another trophy again as long as we had Rangers at Ibrox. I ll be honest and say some of the away days in the SFL 3 were among the most enjoyable i have had supporting Rangers. Nobody knew for certainty what Green had in store and no matter what he outwardly agreed to do he would have still wormed his way out of it in some double deal..Just ask Craig Whyte who he royally shafted. The blame does not lie with the support but it lies with SDM for selling us to Craig Whyte in full knowledge of what he was all about..Duped my arse Whyte has to take the blame for taking the club from the precipice to right over the edge and beyond. Charles Green just played a blinder and robbed us all and IMO continues to rob us to this day. The support have been left in the dreadful position where if we continue to support the club we are financially rewarding the spivs but if we don't support the club then the club dies. The club is now in limbo as we will never really move forward with these people in charge but as long as they see a buck to be made they will keep the company afloat...just.

  13. Not that many boozers in the immediate vicinity, but, back up towards the city centre, you've got The Reverie on the corner at East Preston Street, or The Southern on the main drag, or Drouthy Neebors along the end of West Preston Street.

  14. No it's not. It is rhyming slang for an offensive sectarian term but you know this and it is exactly why you used the rhyming slang as the term is quite rightly banned from this forum. The statue is part of the memorial ya fucking idiot. You know i sometimes get a bit pissed off at other Rangers supporters having a go at you as it does get tedious. Then you go and do something like this and it reminds me why they are constantly having a go as they can see right through you.

  15. Ian Murray is the obvious choice. Worked miracles at Dumbarton. Queens would give him the opportunity to work with full time players in a division he is obviously familiar with.

  16. That's technically not true. McIntyre managed more points per game than Smith did I'm "meh" on this appointment. The more I think about it, the more it strikes me as a - at best - sideways move. Adams is a better manager than McIntyre. JM wouldn't have been my first, second, third, or even fourth choice but I'm happier with him than I would have been had Locke, Hartson, or any number of other incompetents got the job. Least worst candidate from the supposed list of interviewees IMO. I'll support him but I'm a pessimist, and I don't think he'll be here particularly long. I don't envy the task he has either. Billy Dodds can GTF.

  17. Made me nauseous in the mornings, clench my jaw constantly, and gave me almost perpetual raging horn. Citalopram the same but without the horn. But then at the time neither myself nor my GP/shrink knew that AD's were a completely inappropriate medication for my illness. I was clinically depressed at the time, but I also have Bipolar II which psychiatric services completely refused to take any notice of for years, then misdiagnosed and sent me for wholly inappropriate treatment. With Bipolar, unless you medicate the Bipolar first of all dishing out AD's is a recipe for disaster. Sent me high as a kite, and despite what most people might think hypomania/mania is much more difficult to deal with and more dangerous than the depressive episodes.

  18. I haven't seen any hype anywhere that making last year's playoffs was a giant killing achievement. It was his target and he achieved it. Whilst the start wasn't exactly flying or even good, neither was it "horrific" or anywhere near likely to cost him his job. That's an exaggeration. It's fair to say he was very consistent in beating the teams around us and below us (except Raith) and that's why we ended up where we did. Other than Raith, twice, nobody outside the top three beat us after September. Likewise it's fair to say that his record against teams above us was disappointing considering we weren't a long way off them really. One league win each over Dundee and Falkirk plus one over Falkirk in the playoff. Personally I think he did a very good job and was under-appreciated and harshly compared to Allan Johnston by many when we never got the chance to see how Johnston would have done playing full time sides every week. Generally his players appear to like and respect him and he does have an attacking philosophy even if not quite as cavalier as AJ. Likes a quick passing style. I think he'll do well if he has the right raw material to work with. We shall see. At Championship level he has the best points per game record of any of our managers in the post millennium era.

  19. Whispering in adverts........currenty a coffee one and Secret Escapes. It isn't whispering its just speaking in an annoying voice. If it was a secret then why you broadcasting on TV channels constantly. It a stupidly annoying idiot that you are getting secrets just for you on a TV advert. Just annoying voices in adverts really.

  21. I do know someone who took Fluoxetine for a while. The main side-effect I noticed in him was really heavy sweating and constant thirst. I couldn't tell you how effective it was for his mood because I don't know. The list of side-effects for any medication would terrify you to read but it's worth bearing in mind they have to list just about everything that's ever happened to someone while they've been on a medication and most of them won't happen to the individual. See how you go with it and if you find the side-effects too difficult to manage, you can always go back and change to something else. All the best with it.

  25. HibeeJibee has already debunked this on here, I'm sure. Barring Celtic and Motherwell, our clubs in Europe performed pretty much as expected (with very decent results against Luzern and Groningen) You've also got a bit of a brass neck attacking Scottish clubs for poor performance in Europe. How did Rangers get on in their last few European campaigns? 1 win in 22, was it?

  35. Also got the survey today. I must say the club have really upped their game with fan engagement, which really has to be applauded. Weekly emails, mid week interviews and an unwavering ability to keep some sort of interaction via social media on the go even although it seems to attract the internets finest arseholes has been pretty impressive. Given that I'm assuming this is all done by the skeleton office staff and volunteers they are all doing pretty well.

  41. Sounds like you have compulsive behaviour issues. Do you just get a feeling in your head and you just sort of click and before you know it you've spent shitloads and feel crap because of it? Mental health issues can basically short circuit your critical and logical thinking. You know it's a bad idea but you feel compelled to do it. Do you justify it to youself, make promises that "it'll be just this once" that turns into "I'll sort it out tomorrow"which turns into "I'll sort it out next week" and before you know it you're in trouble which just makes you feel worse? I'm talking from experience here. I spunked thousands away on compulsions and got into masses of debt doing so. I still struggle with it. It's obvious that you're using drinking and spending as a crutch, as I do with my 'vices'. I know how you feel about wanting something but lacking motivation as well. I think it's more a confidence thing and feeling that until you sort out your issues you can't move forward. It's also that depression fucks your thinking, making you think irrational things and often acting on them. Depression kicks the ladder out from under you when you'te trying to climb towards your goals. Don't let your issues fester. They'll eat at you, will get worse and will destroy you. Get some help as soon as you can. Get to thr doctor on Monday if possible. I know it might not be easy, but you need to do it. It's tough but you can get 'better'. By sharing on here you've already showed a willingness to get better. You've proven that you have the courage to be brutally honest and acknowledge your issues. If you take the first step of going to your GP you'll feel better. You'll still have the issues, you'll still have compulsions, you'll still feel shit, but you'll feel better because you'll have taken the first step. Once you've done that things will improve, maybe slowly, maybe quickly. You won't know unless you do it. Things won't change unless you make the first step.
