  3. http://www.sneps.net/OO/images/1-The Orange Order in Scotland since 1860.pdf Page 4 when the membership of the OO peaked, page 29 for Pope visit, 1982. Seriously if you don't think the membership increased because of this visit then you're being naive. http://cain.ulst.ac.uk/events/hstrike/summary.htm Again if you don't accept that support for Irish Republicanism increased in Scotland due to the hunger strikes then you're being naive. The hunger strikes ensured that Irish Republican movements had their active and tacit support increased. There are many articles to support that.

  5. I love it when Rangers and Celtic fans stick up for each other and their traditions. Always nice to be reminded that they're two cheeks of the same arse.

  11. I've only ever managed anything similar to that on one occasion. During the Marine A case I responded to some EDL lass who was saying he should be considered a hero. Went to bed and woke up to 40 notifications of utter right wing seethe.

  13. We were talking about our favourite MILFs on a work night out a few years ago, one of the guys said Lorraine Kelly was his. Few months later it came up in conversation again, and he was a bit evasive. We finally got it out of him that out one of his pals had met his old dear for the first time shortly after the works do, and the first thing out his mouth when she left the room was: "Wow, your mum looks exactly like Lorraine Kelly..."

  15. Folk that moan about people who moan about people who post on here listing their reasons for disliking someone on a thread that says "People You Dislike For No Reason". c***s. Erm, I mean uh, I can't think why I don't like those people.

  17. Hyde FC were the worst team ever in the Conference last year but their Twitter account was the best of any football team as they took the piss out of themselves even when they got pumped every week. 20. Anyone using any sectarian insult is a dick. My point is that without knowing anything about their background you wanted the actions of these people to be used as a condemnation of Hibs football club, you don't even know if they were Hibs supporters. And you are trying to paint me in a dark light?

  21. He's not suggesting for a moment that it does. He's quite explicit in not doing so. He's saying that the existence of the OF clubs has enabled such regrettable instances to occur. Why do people keep wishing to argue with others about things they've not said?

  22. With all the arguing over what is and isn't sectarian... The McPherson Report , commissioned in the wake of Stephen Lawrence's killing, defined a racist incident as one which constituted words, behaviour or actions perceived by the victim, or a third party, to be racist. Applying the same logic to the Arse Cheeks' "traditional" behaviour, the question really is, why continue to behave in this manner when you clearly know your behaviour is unacceptable to the majority of society? Deflection from both sides has been the order for the last couple of days. I see it as a simple fact that, without these two convenient beacons, the sectarian issue in Scotland would have died out in any significant numbers decades ago. How often do you hear the "I'm just a football fan" shite from supporters born miles away from Glasgow? Glory Hunters? Why don't they (later generations at least) follow Man United or Barcelona, then? At least they're competing for the big prizes, and they're as relevant to "just a football fan" from Inverness or Gretna - or Belfast, or wherever else they come from to get on the ferries.

  25. Of course not but because your club has/had for years marketed itself as a Protestant club it unfortunately makes its supporters an easy target and makes bigotry more widespread. Same goes for wearing Celtic colours. Without the Old Firm we wouldn't have widespread bigotry like this.

  26. For me the songs are a wee bit different. In my opinion reffering to Arab blood is an example of football rivalry and nothing more. I doubt there used to be a gang of Dundee fans that went out looking for United fans to kill. The Billy Boys is obviously much more sinister but you know this.

  28. Apart from use the division that already existed for marketing purposes. Both clubs exploited sectarianism to the max. They didn't cause the problem but they have helped fuel the fire for many years.

  29. How fucking weak willed do you have to be to let the support of a football club direct your social and political views? I'd hate to have no mind of my own.

  30. And that'll be why nobody is "blaming" them for its historical origins and development. If however, you wish to claim that there's no link between the issue in its current form and the associations of our two biggest football clubs, then please press on. Be warned however, that doing so will make you look ridiculous.

  37. People on this forum spelling 'Kopparberg' as 'Koppaberg'. It's very petty, but it reminds me of daft teenage girls or Londoners mispronouncing words (e.g. proper as proppa/pwopa (nawty)).

  38. Elizabeth Windsor has never been the Queen of England. The last person to hold such a position was Queen Anne of England, who on the coming into force by Parliamentary ratification of the Treaty entered into by her and Anne, Queen of Scots, ceased to be either of those and became by the fact of that Treaty, Anne, Queen of Great Britain.

  39. You could maybe find a forum somewhere on the Internet for that, then. This is a football forum (or "fitba", as some of your fellow fans call it). As for "this country" including Yorkshire, the Tykes still need a Salmond Tribute Act before they even get a referendum. You could pick whichever period you want - as you're no doubt aware, religious intolerance is not the sole preserve of the various Protestant sects. ETA: The last line above kind of explains why a lot of people capable of independent thought avoid organised religions - of all stripes.

  40. Think I speak for most non-OF posters when I say we will never understand the 'bigotry/sectarianism/hatred' element. Our rival is St Mirren & I don't hate them. (Even when bricks get launched at Cartsdyke) It's a natural rivalry. Without coming across as self righteous, I respect them Sadly we don't play them as often anymore. But I'd rather have a pint with the Paisley Buddies than a bitter OF fan anyday.

  41. Aw Jesus. Are you both now seriously claiming that lodge membership etc would be greater, were it not for the existence of Rangers? Don't be ridiculous. Members of such bodies would be viewed far more widely as the sad inadequates they are, were it not for the existence of a football club which lends such bonkerdom a perceived legitimacy.
