  1. All this individual party posturing is meaningless. In an independent Scotland, you would hope that each party would develop a fresh approach best suited to a progressive, socially just country. I wish people would think beyond the SNP in this referendum. Ideally, in an iScotland, I'd like to see a Scottish Labour in power, akin to these lads: http://www.labourforindy.com/

  2. You're an SNP voter as well. Labour want to be harder on austerity than the Tories and you are championing them Kidding on they're left wing in Scotland and saying the opposite down South.... Insidious New Labour.

  5. There is not a chance we'll have a squad with 4 senior players not included in the match day squad. We'll sign probably 1 more on a permanent deal and a loan.

  7. "Addition" rather than "signing" would suggest Anderson has signed a new contract, but it wouldn't be the Rovers if there wasn't some sort of curve ball thrown in.

  11. I'm just back from ESL ONE Frankfurt. What. A. Weekend. I'm a fucking broken husk of a human being but what a blast. The event was awesome and well run other than badly underestimating the time these games can take so it was a real scheduling blunder to have EG playing from 10 in the morning til after 11 at night. But then I met SingSing, Bruno, Puppey, Kuro, Fear, Akke, Pajkatt, the Capitalist and a few more of the bigger names in the business at the afterparty - which went on til like 6 in the morning - so it ended well. Frankfurt is a beautiful city too. If you ever get the chance to go to a LAN event like that you should do it, it's a brilliant experience.

  14. You seem to be apeing Banterman here with the whole "economic policies" schtick. What luck then, that most people look at overall policies. When Labour return to their roots and pledge to do something about food banks, austerity, child poverty and the olympian gap between the rich and poor in this country, then I may consider a Labour vote. Oh, as long as Johann Lamont has been booted, that's another caveat I have. The only way we'll tackle these problems imo is in an independent Scotland.

  15. What doesn't it have to do with Labour's economic policies, or are we just talking about the ones that are just words rather than the ones that were actions.

  16. Yep,poor people requiring food banks and vilifying those on benefits is so progressive.

  26. Not wanting to derail your thread, but it's easy to be dismissive of Rovers approach - but there is some logic in it going back through McGlynn's day. We don't really have a wide scouting network, and more importantly, we don't have the money to help folk re-settle. Ever since Anelka, we've tried to minimise the number of players coming in from leagues outside Scotland, and even within that, we've tried to make the group of players more local to minimise travel costs for the squad, and to better keep them together. Looking at our team now, there are even very few west coast based players in there (one of the main reasons we lost Baird to QoS was travel times). Falkirk have a fantastic youth set up, which is helped by your central location to some extent, but it's something you can be proud of and will furnish you with a ready built squad. We are quickly becoming the not good enough for Dundee, can offer more money than Livi or Cowden club. It might be unimaginative but it's not quite as scattershot as is made out. As I said on our own thread, a lot of the guys within our budget are pretty much of a muchness in terms of ability. Every so often we'll find someone witha bit of wow factor, like Tade or Cardle - but for the most part we're a journeyman team. Murray at least has us playing less of a percentage based game than McGlynn did (although McGlynn was trapped by the players he could bring in - with Dunferlmine in the league, Dundee and Livi all paying more than us at the time, we were much farther down the food chain for east coast based players)

  29. Absolutely disgusting behaviour observed today. I was on the seafront when I saw a man and a woman having an almighty row in front of their child, then suddenly the woman smacked the bloke around the head and it all kicked off. They started slapping and hitting each other then someone must have called the police as a policeman turned up on his own. He had to take his baton to the man but the guy managed to snatch the baton off the policeman then he started whacking the policeman and his wife...... I couldn't believe what I was seeing because then out of nowhere a crocodile crept up and stole all their sausages.

This morning I got the lad to text me: "f**k off you fucker" so we could hear the woman's voice reading that out. Then we laughed for a ridiculously long time. It was the modern day equivalent of looking up 'boobs' in the dictionary at school, or typing '80085' on your first calculator. This makes me happy.

  38. Very interesting indeed, i will be discounting survation polls in future, they're clearly badly flawed. For me, the most insightful part of the article was his conclusion: Ouch, a scathing dose of reality for the yes campaign, but it reinforces many peoples beliefs. Not only is this race not close, it's looking like the Union is going to win at a decisive canter.

  39. I'm not sure that this is true. I think that's generally the preserve of Yes. The Yes campaign deliberately pick their polls to exclude DKs from, to give them a figure closer to 50. One that isn't real, given that there are DKs in the polling sample. The No campaign's vice is more to ignore the polls they don't like and trumpet the ones they do.
