  1. In October Vikington tells all that Morton won't be relegated.... But in March he says that Morton were relegated last October.

  2. That is the same dog that wanted to eat steesh`s artificial arm.He got a new one as he is going to his sisters wedding tomorrow and the last one was damaged due to hitting folk off the head etc etc. This one is in slightly better condition apart from a lack of nails due to watching the rovers and a dog hinging off it.

  3. As a wee aside... There's this blind chap who comes in to the 200 Club with his guide dog in tow, an absolute cracker of a Labrador. I came in to the club today with a steak pie and the dug didn't take his eyes off of me when I was eating it. Left a bit over for the dog and asked his owner if I was allowed to give the dog a bit whilst it was working. Reply: "Aye, nae bother. As long as I dinnae see ye!"

  5. The away end holds 800 I believe, and next Saturday's match is all ticket presumably to stop Dundee fans turning up and being unable to gain entry.

  8. A couple of things are salient here. The move to any new ground is primarily for the benefit of Brabco, but we are not talking about John Hall or Hugh Scott here, let's afford the owners more respect than that. If DFC emerges with an enhanced stadium, with training, social and commercial facilities to match then that sounds fine on paper. I am not concerned that in Brabco we have asset strippers, I am however worried that we may have some fantasists who are conflating our current generational high-water mark on the pitch with some lasting legacy on the Renton Road. In order for that to happen there would need to be a very sound business model indeed and in the current information vacuum from the club itself it's difficult to get a handle on just what that is. Lastly, in terms of enticing more people along, I actually do believe there is still mileage in that but the plain fact is that it will never happen as long as the present local Directors, decent people to a man, maintain the current snobbish attitude in which the public is treated as a necessary evil, unless you form part of the inner sanctum. If the commercial direction and PR of DFC was radically overhauled in tandem with any new facility then it may all come together, but a professional football club needs professional people at the helm, that much should be self-evident to anyone with serious intentions. Moving to a spanking new ground to be told again that you can't do this or that just doesn't cut it.

  11. But......isn't it true that Calum and Andy Hosie are part of the Brabco consortium? The Hosie family connection with DFC goes back to the middle of the last century. I'm old enough to remember John Hosie who kept the club running day to day as secretary for decades. Also isn't it so that these guys are involved with Bet Butler who have sponsored the strips and the stadium to the tune of a sum roughly equivalent to that required to employ Ian Murray? Didn't they oversee the appointment of a Chief Exec with decades of support and service to DFC on his CV? It seems clear that they want to see a return on their investment but maybe it's not their sole motivation? I'm only posing the questions. At the moment none of us know sufficient details of the plans to be certain of anything. All I will say is to repeat that if Brabco were asset strippers, it doesn't seem clear from their modus operandi.

  16. Me too. New labour was like some kind of Orwellian prophecy. And an epitome of what's wrong with today's society. It was a "brand" and the doublespeak that originated in George Orwells book 1984. More doublespeak is david Cameron's big society. Aye right enough david ya fuckin arsehole. Anybody with half a brain cell could tell it was a PR offensive to distant himself from thatchers "there is no such thing as society". The big society sounds like a socialist idea. But in fact what Cameron had in store with his cut backs and his reduction of the state. Was the exact opposite. Yip doublespeak in its purest form.

  19. I would be under the impression that the board, in which the Sons trust has a rep on would know who the people are that are involved with BRABCO. Our owners have been in charge for about 5 years. Leave the daily running of the club to the local directors and have backed the club financially, unless someone can show other wise. If the board are wanting in the long term to advance the club by potentially going full time ( long term goal) in which the top flight may be possible then yes I would say we need a 4000 seater/ the ability to expand. I believe with the surrounding area we have we should be able to attract more people. The million dollar questions is how do we do that but that's for another debate. The conference room idea was just that, an idea. The new stadium if it had an all weather pitch could potentially have other changing facilities in it. Lastly this debate seems to be built mostly on rumours and people not knowing the full facts re if planning permission has been sought why is it being sought is it to move or just a fact finding mission.

  30. Like them or not BRABCO on the face of it and with the help of the local directors and trust have guided the club into a great position. Do we know every single detail about them? No, but do we need to? When they came in we had a owner who didn't want to be there and a team in the 3rd division. When they came in they didn't hide the fact that the end goal was move the club to a new ground and in turn get a return on their investment and get the club to the 1st Div. At that point I thought wasn't sure if 1st div was possible and look where we are now. 5th in the league with a fantastic manager that's been backed by the board. Fan involvement at board level and other levels of the club. Is it perfect? - again no do people mind sets need to change more yes but still in a pretty decent position to be in. On the stadium front it's now well document/ known that expansion where we are isn't possible and commercially we don't have/ get the best from the stadium. If financially possible would you turn down a new community backed stadium maybe 4000 seats with an all weather pitch, bar with the ability to take home and away fans. Bigger commercial opportunity with conference rooms, offices. A gym? Who know the options are endless. Not exactly a transport nightmare either. Easily accessible by car, on a bus route and 20min walk from the town centre?
