  4. "Once again, Rangers are the subject of media reports and speculation which are, at best, misleading and, at worst, malicious." "That would be reckless in the extreme and suggest that nothing has been understood from the past when Rangers were in effect mugged by money grabbers. We are here to make sure that does not happen again. We do pay our bills on time and we have always been prepared to pay this one. There are many people and journalists who will choose to disbelieve this truth but that is up to them." "Rangers will not be closed. This Club will never run up crippling debts and we will not pay over-inflated salaries to players. however, we will have a sensible pay structure which won’t threaten the club’s existence." "We are sorry if this, or the fact that Rangers are financially healthy, isn’t what people want to hear but this is the new reality. It is for others to come to terms with that and also our continued revival." Jim Traynor 8th Feb 2013

  5. Don't go out then. Fucking hell. It's amazing that people are posting about serious problems they have here and then there's this.

  6. Funnily enough I've never seen the home side scoring at Celtic Park.

  7. I agree entirely about Riordan but to be fair teams in this league can't use trialists. We're really missing Watson and McGurn, no doubt, but I'd hope to see a change in our fortunes if we went with a team of: Laidlaw Thomson Donaldson Hill Booth Anderson Callachan Moon Cardle Vaughan Elliot As it stands surely it's fairly unanimous that's our strongest line-up, on form and availability? We're either going to properly nose dive like last season or we can turn this around. Far from too late. A winger to provide competition to Anderson and, in particular, Cardle would be excellent as they know they're playing every week and it's been showing in their performances of late. Vaughan just provides so, so much more than Spence and Smith. Smith just hasn't, thus far, been a particularly good signing although in glimpses he's been good - couple of winners against Livi and Morton, for instance. Spence started so well but his attitude in recent weeks has been absolutely abysmal. His performances have been even worse. May sound harsh but if he doesn't buck up his ideas in the next five months he's on the way to part-time football. Which I really wouldn't have expected to be saying in August. The ability is there, but he seriously needs a bit of fire in his belly for me. Vaughan on the other hand shows so much creativity and desire in his short bursts. Put it this way, we've scored five goals in our last six games - Lewis Vaughan has scored and directly assisted three of those, his back-heel set up Booth's cutback for Elliot against Cowdenbeath too, and the other goal was a penalty (awarded from his set-piece, but I'd be taking it too far to credit him for that!). He can't, and won't, do it every game but give him a run in the side. Give him the next five or six games from the start and see how he gets on. Let's face it, he can't do much worse than Spence (one goal in eleven) or Smith (one in twelve).

  8. Well done, great time for a beginner! I ran 2.2 miles to town, did an hour of circuits (mostly upper body/core work) then ran home again yesterday. I'm really noticing the difference the strength training is making to my running - not to mention the weight loss (I've lost just over a stone in the last couple of months, which, considering that Christmas was bang in the middle, is not too shabby at all!). I've a couple of races I'm going to sign up for in the next few days, the first one will be at Garioch (Inverurie) in March, but I can't decide whether to do 5k/10k/half marathon. I'm leaning towards 10k at the moment, but I think I'll do a couple of runs through the week this week and make a decision later.

  16. Can you keep going to Braehead then mate please? Haha! You can't head it, but you can kick it, but you just can't kick it into the goal however if it hits your skate and goes in, it's allowed. You can 'hand pass' in defensive zone, but you can't hand pass anywhere else, you can only catch and put directly down. Still, should have diving headered it for the banter! Haha!

  17. Indeed. I was trying to be populist. I fancy trying something involving McCoist being poised to sign off on his pay cut whilst praying for an interruption from some bloke from Porlock, but it needs considerable work.

  22. I haven't been at the last two games - are we failing to create or are we creating but not finishing? It sounds like Grant Murray has restored his five man midfield in an attempt to stop shipping goals at the back, and with one conceded in two games, you might say he's accomplished that, but at a very obvious cost. Are Anderson and Cardle not suited to playing as "wing forwards"? Looking at it on paper Cardle should be ideal for that, coming inside and driving towards goal, but in reality I think he's better suited to a flat midfield 4, when he can come inside and stop, then release Booth into the channel. Whether it's as a forward three or a midfield four, Anderson is there to do the same thing - put pressure on the left back hit the byline and drive the ball across the goal. Has he been doing that lately? And if he has, is Elliot in the middle to get on the end of the chances (and is Cardle getting into the box too?). Four games without a goal is an obvious problem, and an open transfer window offers an obvious solution, but what type of player do we need? A number 9? - I'm sure Smith and Spence would both argue that that's their position, and neither have had a proper run of games (because they haven't performed well enough to merit it, granted, but if we bring in another out and out striker and he doesn't score in his first three games, will we be rotating again?) A 10? - I can't actually decide if Elliot is better suited to leading or supporting but he seems to be the only one guaranteed to start (deservedly). Do we want to bring in someone else to do the dropping off and let Elliot stay closer to the goal? I'd argue that Vaughan is the most well suited player to "the hole" in the squad but can we rely on an 18 year old to be the fulcrum of our attack for the second half of the season? Another option on the wings? - We're playing Anderson and Cardle every game because they're our only two wingers. Both have had their critics this season for less-than-stellar performances. Do we need another option out wide, even if it means we can rotate the three and have some fresh legs providing pace and width at the end of games? If I only had money for one player, I think I'd probably opt for another winger. Whoever it is coming in will almost certainly have to be a "Premiership" loan, unless we can pick up a free agent from down south. If we could get another Jamie Walker or simialr I think that'd do for me. Doesn't have to be a polished end product, but someone who's not afraid to run with the ball and doesn't disappear if the first thing he tries doesn't come off. I'd also have a look at telling Spence that he'll be playing the next 8 or 10 games up front with Elliot, injuries/suspensions notwithstanding. His decent form last season seemed to kick in when Murray stopped switching between him and Pat Clarke and made it clear that Spence was Brian Graham's chief lieutenant. It's harsh on Smith because he's been on worse than Spence this season, but it's Spence that I'm leaning towards.

  25. It's beyond incredulous !! When this was being discussed the other day I was thinking to myself that at least McCoist could say to the players that he'd already taken a cut himself ... and then it turns out he hasn't !!!! (from a f'kin joke of a wage in the first place !) Was he not telling everyone months ago that he'd taken a cut !! Spouting pish about not even looking at his original contract etc. !! I think most people on here would claim to have liked McCoist as a player, I know I would, but he's worth the f'ckin watching - a two faced lying c'nt of a man

  26. Assuming you pay for your internet or any other bill that comes through the B&B's letterbox asking you to pay for services rendered over the last month or like your utility bills "quarterly" you have become a "debtor" and the company asking you for money becomes your "creditor". You have received a service you have not yet paid for but have had the privilege the service upfront to be paid for later placing you in their debt. The Clone Rangers have creditors like their taxes and utility bills that the club will have to pay for at a later date meaning these companies will become the club's creditors in advance of being paid. It's really quite simple Becky, but like you because you are simple this then becomes simply too complicated for your simple mind to comprehend in a grown up manner .

  28. Why can't people understand that this series really has nothing to do with he books save for using some names and borrowing a little of the stories? The characters in particular are not those portrayed in the books, so why the constant comparisons. This series is not the adaptation of the books. It's a totally new imagining of the characters.

  29. You seem not to understand that to everyone with an interest in Scottish football who is not a follower of Celtic or Rangers, both teams are looked at as one. It doesn't matter if Celtic win 10 in a row, it's as good to the rest as Rangers winning it every other year.

  31. Let get this right. We need to bring in another Assistant mananger to help out a guy taking £800,000 wages + bonus. He has already got 2 assistant managers who are taking £600,000 + bonus between them. We will have to sell our better players or release them and we will still be too strong for the Championship that could include Dunfermline,Raith,Dundee , Falkirk, Hamilton, Hearts and another top division club such as St Mirren,Killie,Ross County,Thistle...FFS we lost games in the bottom tier never mind the Championship You honestly don't see crowds dipping when we are selling our better players and being pumped on the park and yet we have to pay 30% more for the privilege? And i am leaving the best to last...You don't think there is anything seriously wrong at the club? FFS and you call others fucking mentalists?

  32. I think everybody knows where the blame lies and we have known for a long time. Not a lot you can do when they Spivs and gangsters have the majority of the shares. We just have to sit and watch the club being destroyed yet again and hope the share price hits such a low that it becomes affordable...I have been 100% against a fan buy out from day one but there comes a point when it becomes the lesser of two evils. I just thank God i never invested any of the money my old man left me into the share issue. Well i thank the posters on here..after reading what i did on here and after serious consideration i left well alone. One small blessing in all this

  36. When a team is in a shit run and fans claim that players aren't trying or aren't showing any fight or passion or aren't playing for the shirt. Utter shite in the vast majority of cases. It's lazy, cliched pish peddled by thundering fucking idiots who struggle to form their own opinions and just regurgitate what others say. There were even a couple of Hearts fans on the radio the other night saying this about their team. Thankfully they were shot down for the obvious bullshit they were stupidly slavering from their stupid fucking faces.

  37. As a bit of a Richard Ford fanboy I'm maybe not the most objective, but I thought it was great. In contrast to the Frank Bascombe trilogy, really 'big' things happen in it and plot is far more to the fore. Indeed the very first couple of sentences in the novel are; "First I'll tell about the robbery our parents committed. Then about the murders, which happened later". When this was quoted in every review I read prior to the novels release, I was a wee bit sceptical, as it really didn't sound like the Ford I know and love. However it's written in such an elegantly understated and meditative fashion, that It wasn't as uncharacteristic as I initially feared. His prose did seem a bit more spare than in the past, but I thought it was really effective. I'd give it a bash.

  40. The most damning indictment possible of Rangers fans is the fact that nothing that's happened recently comes as a surprise. I think pretty much all of us fully expect Fatty McCoist to throw a tear stained tantrum demanding "answers", followed by a large number of the social degenerates that support them to issue death threats. Indeed, it would have been a shock if there hadn't been any threat or intimidation. Quite a few clubs have fallen foul of the rules in recent years. Ourselves, Livingston and Gretna have all been punished to varying degrees for going into administration. Hearts seem to be permanently getting on the SFA's tits. Hamilton were relegated after a player strike to name but a few. NONE of those clubs fans to my knowledge issued a single death threat against anyone involved. Only the Old Firm, and in particular the perma-raging brain-donors that follow Rangers. I really really hope this puts the SFA's backs up for the appeal and they wipe the floor with the c***s. It would be the best piece of telt ever if they were to give McCoist a year's touchline ban for incitement, shortly after upholding Whyte's fine and doubling the embargo. It's an oft-used analogy in this thread, but Rangers are like the school bully who finally been given a taste of his own medicine. They don't know how to handle everyone else finally standing up to them and devolved into a tear stained lash out at anyone and everyone. The current state of play is the playground equivalent of the fat c**t being decked and all the little kids who've suffered at his hands for year kicking the f**k out of them. Don't stop. Keep the kicks coming. Make these worthless motherfuckers suffer until they finally die a pitiful whimpering death. Today has shown that these c***s will never change. They're fucking scum.
