  3. Dead Rangers are fucked - clear breach of the rules in each EBT case. Dead Rangers might have been able to make EBT payments tax free (subject to HMRC appeal) but those payments required to be declared to the SFA and the SPL. Rangers did not declare these payments and are therefore in breach of the relevant rules. All titles and cups require to be stripped, in my view, as it's a completely separate issue to the tax liability (not that most of the Orcs will understand this and will be going on and on about but but but the tribunal...)
    2 points
  4. Well, why would a player need to be reassured that the EBT scheme wasn't a criminal rip-off? The answer to that question is probably the same as all the others about Rangers' conduct which are yet to be answered - a few examples of which... - Why did David Murray offer to settle with HMRC for £10m, if he knew he was innocent of a majority of the charges? - Why did Rangers refuse to cooperate with the HMRC investigation by withholding as much documentation as they possibly could, if they knew the club was innocent of a majority of the charges? - Why wouldn't David Murray agree to accept liability for the tax case when selling the club, if he knew he was innocent of a majority of the charges? - Why wouldn't investors buy Rangers with the tax case hanging over it, if they knew the club was innocent of a majority of the charges? - Why did David Murray sell the club he purportedly loved to a conman for a pound, if he knew he was innocent of a majority of the charges? - Why did Craig Whyte stampede the club into liquidation ASAP, if he knew the club was innocent of a majority of the charges? - Why did Duff & Duffer act as if the club was liable for the tax case, if they knew the club was innocent of a majority of the charges? - And why did everyone associated with Rangers over the last ten years deliberately stretch out this case as long as possible, even though doing so was massively harmful to the club's finances and survival prospects, if they knew the club was innocent of a majority of the charges? Well, if you think the two judges are correct, Rangers did these things "Because they were innocent of a majority of the charges". If you believe Ms Poon, they did them more or less "Because they were guilty as sin, fully expected to be found guilty and were deliberately attempting to frustrate justice". I guess it's up to you, which story you believe. Like I say, the case delivers a verdict upon whether HMRC can prove the case they're making. The question What actually happened - well, that's an entirely separate issue.

  6. The battle is over. Dane Bowers has called me a 'twat' and finally blocked me. Here is the conversation in full for anyone interested - Dane: Christopher Maloney must feel guilty and embarrassed surely? Me: Why would he feel guilty and embarrassed? He's in a competition. The aim of entering a competition is to win it. However, you should feel 'guilty' and 'embarrassed' about this - …Dane: your right...selling nearly a quarter of a million singles in one week is REALLY embarrassing! #mug Me: I didn't say that the amount sold was embarrassing. I was talking more about the actual quality of the song. The amount sold isn't linked to 'quality'. For example, Crazy Frog and the 'Ketchup Song' sold even more. They aren't considered to be examples of musical greatness. You rose to the bait of the wrong guy, Dane. Apologies. But I wish you all the best for the future x Dane: but kind sir..they ARE seen as genius songs.. because YOU don't like then or they aren't seen as credible doesn't change the fact. so stop thinking you're being clever...you're not...simple Me: Yup, and Christopher Maloney is clearly popular with a lot of people. Just because YOU don't like him doesn't change the fact. Congratulations on contradicting yourself. And the Crazy Frog may be 'catchy', but 'genius'? Oh dear.. Give up, Bowers. Dane: listen you twat...you don't think that to sell that many copies of a song like that isnt genius? sort yourself out... (Dane blocks me) Me: You sidestepped the point about Christopher Maloney. You obviously wanted the last word. But you have failed. Bye Dane. X

  7. I'd have thought that anyone connected with this whole clusterfuck would be thinking very carefully before saying anything in public at the moment. Even Charlie Boy appears to have shut the f**k up over the last couple of days - he surely can't have run out of pish as well as cash already, can he?

  8. I loved Hateley's time at Ibrox. He, along with DJ, were the best headers of a ball in British Football. DJ edged it. After that? They just talk unalloyed pish - especially when they talk off-the-field matters. This is going off topic but I watched a rerun of Rangers vs Shire during the week. A corner came in and Kevin Kyle sort-of got to it but made an ineffectual header. DJ's comment was along the lines of, "If you're as tall and strong as Kyle you should be running in to the box from 15 or 20 yard and meeting the ball at full pace. Don't just stand there and hope to score." Now THAT is what ex-players should be talking about. There are at least 100 P&B posters who could talk more cogently about football than Hately.

  10. I never had a strong opinion on the man before but now, I'd say he's about on a level with guys who mug grannies for money for crack. In fact, no - at least crackheads can claim to be compelled beyond their will by a force outwith their control. Sir Dave, on the other hand, is a scheming, mendacious crook. Still, at least it's not my club he destroyed.

  11. Even by your standards Tedi, that constitutes a brilliantly fantastical interpretation of events. As you well know, the £10m offer was not a goodwill gesture; it was an attempt to pay much, much less than the sum Murray thought he'd been caught out for. Despite his noises this week, it's abundantly clear that Murray also thought Rangers would lose this case - pretty compelling evidence that they should have done. Had Rangers really wanted to "get on with playing football", they wouldn't have delayed and obstructed the process at every turn.

  12. That's pyoor different so it is. Rangers avoid tax - the morals of the nation are in peril. Think of the hospitals, think of the forces... Plastics avoid tax - shrewd, understandable, who can blame them, f**k the hospitals and the forces...

  13. Why,after all you've shown with your attitude to the verdict that despite the finding in favour of the PLC you were intent on ignoring it,therefore showing a bigoted and hateful attitude against the club by not respecting the verdict, bigotry isn't always confined to religion you know. . Also bear in mind for weeks/months you previously asked would Rangers fans accept all findings in the EBT and SPL investigation whichever way the verdicts went. So by not accepting this verdict is somewhat hypocritical of you is it not.
    1 point
  14. So no matter what a legal verdict is you will ignore that simply because it doesn't meet with your opinion. Having that outlook destroys any credibility you have and highlights your bigoted attitude towards the club. So in that respect your opinion is worthless.

  15. I suggest that you've got the wrong end of the stick here. HMRC losing the tribunal proves only one thing - that two out of three judges weren't convinced by the proof that HMRC were able to present*. Again - the court does not decide whether Rangers actually diddled the taxpayer. The court decides whether HMRC can prove that Rangers diddled the taxpayer. HMRC thought they had a strong case - they were wrong. Happens every day, all over the world. Nonetheless, let's think about this proposition you're making. You're saying that prosecutions that fail are proof that no prosecution should ever have been brought, because prosecutions are very expensive. Have you thought through the implications of that? Maybe you should get on the phone to Crown Office - they lose tens of thousands of cases every year, after all. If Crown Office think they've got a 60% chance of convicting you for murder, should they sack it off because it's not worth the expense? And recall here - HMRC are required to chase up proven tax dodgers** like your old club. Really, get a grip. The logical conclusion of your argument is that no prosecution should be brought unless there is a 100% chance of conviction. You're just hilariously wrong, aren't you? *When considering this point, it's worth recalling that one of the judges complained that your club were intentionally withholding evidence. **Your old club are proven tax dodgers.

  16. Even the judges that supported Dave's lawyers' argument acknowledged that there was a case to answer, and both praised HMRC for the rigour of their investigations. Hector joins the ever-expanding list of innocent punters blamed for your club's messy suicide. On the other hand, all three judges noted that your club were obstructive and unhelpful; one actually concluded that your representatives intentionally attempted to mislead, delay and obstruct the inquiry. Which is to say - HMRC actually look pretty good here, having argued in good faith and lost out only because they wrongly assumed that they could prove the whole thing was a scam, by proving that a substantial proportion of it was a scam. They were wrong. Your old club, OTOH, stands accused of dishonestly attempting to hide the truth from the authorities, and that's just for starters. I've asked before and I'll ask again - why not take out your anger on Sir Dave - the man chiefly responsible for killing your club - rather than joining a big circle-jerk of rage about Hector and some bloggers?

  34. 12 Boards Of Canada Music Has The Right To Children (1998) Bloody typical - you wait half a thread for a Boards Of Canada album and then two come along at once. When initiating this poll and trying to think of what would chart highly, I had MHTRTC as one of the leading contenders. It often represents electronic music in more general polls and is widely held up as one of the finest examples there is of "electronica", one of Warp Records' sacred cows. But, clearly the magic that surrounds BOC had these two albums destined to slither through this chart to sit comfortably next to each other. There are higher forces at work here, people. Entirely why BOC evoke such strong feelings of childhood nostalgia isn't clear. There is a specific aesthetic to their music and imagery - resemblance to soundtracks to 1970s/80s nature documentaries, public information films and music for schools is often explicit in their tracks. They have talked of a process of purposefully "degrading" their sound, lending it a haze to make it sound as if it was discovered in boxes of old VHS tapes. Yet here in 2012 their appeal remains to be discovered by a generation who can't be nostalgic for those times by virtue of having not been around then. Perhaps the appeal is different for those people, but there is something purely about the music, both in the sound and melodies, that provokes those feelings. We can all be nostalgic for times that we never knew in the first place, moreso now than ever before with easy access to media of all sorts both from those times and depicting them. The music here is terrific throughout - its notable not just for that memory haze but stands as innovative and influential electronic music. From the stutter and thump of Telephasic Workshop and the pounding gloop of Sixtyten, to the sparkling beauty of Turquoise Hexagon Sun and slow motion funk of Aquarius, it delights at every turn. The twin miniatures of Kaini Industries and Bocuma, gripping loops of Rue The Whirl, endless turns of Pete Standing Alone and soothing calm of Open The Light are only some of the highlights of this outstanding collection. Music Has The Right To Children is one of the landmark releases in the history of electronic music, the first widespread glimpse of brothers Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin's original, captivating work. Its influence is still heard in countless places in recent years, from the hauntological roster of Ghost Box records and wonky hip-hop of Moon Wiring Club, to the freeform synth workouts of Oneohtrix Point Never and cosmic melodies of Polysick. This was their introduction to the wider world, and remains for many their definitive statement.

I'm 1-0 down and have a shot that hits the bar and drops down onto the line, I instantly thought goal, but nothing. I check the replay and the ball is clearly over the line. 41. When HMRC issued the tax bill, they were fishing. Pure and simple. It happens quite often and across a range of companies. A business faced with such a bill then has a choice. They either try to reach a compromise settlement with HMRC or they engage extremely expensive tax lawyers and accountants and fight it. Murray Group offered a settlement. That is fairly normal practice. What is interesting is why HMRC chose not to accept it. Clearly an error of judgement on their part. But it happens. The firm I used to work for (retired from actually) was audited by the IRS in New York. The IRS leaked information to the Wall St. journal saying that we were going to have to pay millions in back tax. The result ...... we won and they had to pay us around $10 million. I personally got $12k back. The side-letter are only relevant if they provide evidence that Murray Group was avoiding tax. They did not. Whether they were secretive or not is neither here nor there. Most businesses do not routinely divulge all their correspondence into the public domain. Your allegation of cheating is not supported by any facts. It is clearly wishful thinking on your part.

  42. Rangers win their case. Plastics and diddies alike continue to straw-clutch and rage against the dying of the light. Dylan Thomas would have been proud of you. Even though - as for his dying father - it ultimately changed nothing. Rangers are still here, on the way back to the very top (nae luck internet bampots) and will soon enough be hoovering up trophies and adding ever more lustre to our glorious, record-setting history. An (ever dwindling) few internet bampots will still rage - but no one will care. It will take little more than a few years, a blink of the eye. Indeed, if Sky/ESPN and the realist chairmen have their way, there will be substantial moves to accelerate the process this coming summer. We can only hope the plastics and diddies have enjoyed their day in the sun. As the worlds media continually gather at Ibrox to record and document the remarkable tale of survival and re-energising of our greatest of clubs, we should at least acknowledge the voice of those raging and their final cry in a tiny wee corner of Britain - it goes like this: "but, But, BUT, BUT!, but..." And here's our collective guarantee, a reality that all Rangers supporters know to be true - should the SPL strip a title or two away, we'll win them back. Without question. And that's a promise.

  43. I have little sympathy for Rangers fans, arguably the biggest supported team in Scotland and with one of the largest fan bases in Europe and the fact most of them stood back and let this happen, never got organised until it was far too late, never asked the important questions when the club started to struggle, utter blind faith and ignorance. Before all this unfolded a few years ago I used to hear from them "we don't care as long as we are winning", well they're still winning and they stiil don't care, given the continued apathy and gullibility shown towards the new owner and the fact the club is now in the 4th tier of Scottish football. I believe Craig Whyte has lied through out his reign at Rangers and he continues to do so now and the HMRC are not responsable for the death of that club, Craig Whyte and his associates are, this is how they make their money taking companies in financial trouble and moving them into a situation where administration is the only direction then selling the assets and I'm quite sure he has taken more than the 5.5m out of that club. Rangers fans have not just been cheated out of their club but their money and its going to take months to unravel the lot especially the mess left by Craig Whyte. David Murray can be blamed for setting Rangers on this course but as far as I knew until the banking crisis, Rangers were digging themselves out of the debt with the plan they had worked out with Lloyds. I also believe that Rangers own privileged standing in Scottish football through out history and also the influence in the corridors of power in the SPL , SFA and the SFL in the past had allowed them to opporate in a manner where they could get away with certain 'discrepancies' without question, bringing about circumstances that would lead to the club's downfall. If everyone had been doing their job the use of EBTs and how to use them legally would have saved a lot of time and money, but I think Rangers fate was sealed the day when Craig Whyte took over.
